William James “Jim” Webb
Mr. William James “Jim” Webb, age 66, of Wickes, passed away February 19, 2009 in DeQueen.
He was born April 13, 1942 in Guadalajara, Mexico to the late William Jackson Webb and Inez Tatum Webb. He was united in marriage to Sara Daniel. He was a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with degrees in Business Administration and Spanish. He was an accountant for a number of years and was a Spanish teacher, and was also a member of the Wickes Methodist Church. Mr. Webb was also a veteran, serving his country in the United States Navy. He was a beloved husband, father, son, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Jackson Webb and a sister, Linda Margaret Webb.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Wickes Methodist Church with Reverend Michael Thurman and Reverend Gayle Bone officiating. Interment follows at Daniel Cemetery
at Wickes under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the home of Sara Webb at 417 Hwy 278 in Wickes.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Richardson, Freddie Baher, Jr. Dayton Holman, Weldon Rye, John Hill, and Dood Baker. Honorary pallbearer will be Doug Irwin.

Dawn Marie Wadden Reese
Dawn Marie Wadden Reese, age 38, a resident of Gillham, AR died Monday, February 16, 2009 in Texarkana, TX .
She was born March 4, 1970 in Attleboro, Massachusetts to Edwin G. Wadden, Jr. and Donna L. Pedini. She was a catholic and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Reese in 2007.
She is survived by a daughter, Leila Reese, and a son, Jerry Reese III, both of Gillham, AR; her parents, Donna Pedini and Edwin Wadden, Jr., both of Cumberland, Rhode Island; a sister, Shonda Rowe of Clarksville, Tennessee; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are pending and will be announced later by Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Laura Elaine (Gore) Jordan
Mrs. Laura Elaine (Gore) Jordan, 88, of De Queen, Arkansas, died Feb. 18,2009 in a Local hospital. Mrs. Jordan was born to parents Charner and Nellie Gore on December 18, 1920 in Horatio, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford D. Morris, and their only daughter, Wanda, who had contracted polio as a young child and whom Laura faithfully cared for until she passed away, many years later. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James B. Jordan; two step-children, James E. Jordan and Margaret Cooper; and brother, Kent R. Gore.
Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Calvin B. Gore and Audrey Gore, of Cerritos, CA. Charner H. Gore, Jr. and Margaret, of Carmichael, CA, Walter F. Gore, of Little Rock, AR. and sister-in-law Evon Gore, of Chesapeake, VA. Also survived by step-children, Jimmie Jordan of Cove, AR. Janice Brown, of Springdale, AR, Sherry Myers, of Fayetteville, AR, Ricky Jordan, of Hot Springs, AR, a number of step-grandchildren, and step great grandchildren, several nieces and step-nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in the Daniel Cemetery
in Wicks, AR with Rev. Grant Groves officiating, under the direction of the Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00p.m., Monday, February 23rd at the funeral home.
Florence T. Cox Buck Hill
Mrs. Florence T. Cox Buck Hill, age 82, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in the Crystal Falls Nursing Center, De Queen.
She was born to Eliza Fred and Elizabeth Birdie Downing Cox at Cashmere, Washington on August 25, 1926. She was a former employee of Baldwin Piano, a former employee of the Rubber Corporation, and was a retired cook at Nadine's Café in Lockesburg, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Kern Heights Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, gardening, flowers, and cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, James Fredrick Cox, Vernon Author Cox, and Theodore Clyde Cox, her husbands, Herman Nathan “Buddy” Buck, and Dan Hill.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sharon Buck of De Queen, Eugene and Windstorm Buck of Tonasket, Wash., Billy and Mary Buck of Smithville, Okla, a daughter, Judith Ann Belcher of Tacoma, Wash., twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Florence Buck Hill will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 19th in the McHorse Cemetery, Provo, with Rev. Rusty Ross officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18th.

MAE RALEY, AGE 79, A RESIDENT OF DE QUEEN, DIED SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2009 IN THE CRYSTAL FALLS HEALTH CENTER.
SHE WAS BORN TO MELVIN AND CORA ETHEL JOHNSTON RALEY AT DE QUEEN, ARKANSAS, ON FEBRUARY 16, 1929. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE DE QUEEN CHURCH OF CHRIST AND WORKED AT THE DE QUEEN THEATER, AS A CASHIER FOR HILL’S CAFÉ, BALDWIN PIANO, AND AS A DESK CLERK AT LAKESIDEMOTEL, AS WELL AS AN ANTIQUE DEALER. SHE ENJOYED CATS.
SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER PARENTS, AND A BROTHER, MURRY MELVIN RALEY IN 2006.

Mrs. Tava Lee McWhorter Gordon, age 60, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 15, 2009 in the Christus St. Michael Health System.
She was born to Allen “Windy” and Lillie Lee Liggin McWhorter at August 25, 1948, at Lockesburg, Arkansas. She was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Lockesburg, was a retired Social Activity Director, as well as a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, P. J. Smith in 2005, and a brother, Louis McWhorter in 1982.
She is survived by her husband, of over 44 years, Phillip C. Gordon, Jr. of Lockesburg, three daughters and sons-in-law, Sissy and Kelly Golden of Hiram, Georgia, Rose and Mike Dean of Lockesburg, and Anna Lee and Willie Wray of Lockesburg, Arkansas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Sarah McWhorter of Kirby, Arkansas, David and Penny McWhorter of Lockesburg; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Dale Green of Lockesburg, and Genetta and Willie Adams of De Queen; six grandchildren, Michael Wayne and his wife, Rhonda Dean, Tiffany Nichole Dean, Devin Golden, Leslie Golden, Alisha and her husband, Cory Stone, and William Wray, five great-grandchildren, Mason, Michael, Matthew, Carter and Weston, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Tava Gordon will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church, Lockesburg, with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Catherine “Cattie” Eileen Hopkins Willey
Catherine “Cattie” Eileen Hopkins Willey, age 40, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas died Sunday, February 15, 2009 at her home.
She was born September 8, 1968 in Great Bend, Kansas to Robert Earl and Barbara Kettler Hopkins. She was a sales clerk for Bumper to Bumper in De Queen and a member of the Old Time Gospel Church in Lockesburg.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Eileen Amanda Baker; her father and one nephew, Heath Forrest Willard.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Willey; two daughters, Amanda Mae Willey and Samantha Willey and a son, Aaron Willey all of Lockesburg; mother Barbara Hopkins of De Queen, Arkansas; two sisters, Toni Kettler of Wichita, Kansas and Robin Cowley of Lockesburg, Arkansas.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Willey will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in the Old Time Gospel Church with Jerrell Helms officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery
under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Gladys Inetha Westbrook McCaskill
Mrs. Gladys Inetha Westbrook McCaskill, age 92, a resident of Dierks, AR died Saturday, February 14, 2009 in Stuttgart, Arkansas .
She was born February 25, 1916 in Dierks to Olan and Mae Wynn Westbrook. She was a devout church member who was saved at 13 years of age. She was a life long member of the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church . In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother she was an avid quilter and gardener.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Hugh McCaskill on April 24, 1974.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Linda McCaskill of Stuttgart, AR; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Wesley Cannon of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a sister, Eunice Carpenter of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; two brothers, Loy Westbrook of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Lloyd Westbrook of Conway, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Eric and Krista Cannon of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Wynne McCaskill Waddell of Centerton, Arkansas and Ashlee McCaskill of Ithaca, New York and one great-grandchild, Emma Klaire Waddell.
Funeral services for Mrs. McCaskill will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Gilbert and Rev. Chris Whisenhunt officiating. Burial will follow in Wynn Cemetery
under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 6:00–8:00 p.m., Monday, February 16th at the funeral home in Dierks.
