Betty Joan Ellis Bell

Betty Joan Ellis Bell, age 73, of Vandervoort, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009.

She was born October 18, 1935 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late James Herman and Alma Sue Myers Ellis. On March 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to Hilton Leroy Bell, Sr. in Mena, Arkansas. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vandervoort, Arkansas. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother “Granny” and great grandmother.

Survivors are:

Husband: Hilton Bell, Sr. of Vandervoort, Arkansas

Sons: Chuck and wife Beverly Bell of Mena, Arkansas Hershel and wife Pam Bell of Cove, Arkansas Daughters: Belinda and husband Terry Williamson of DeQueen, Arkansas Betina and husband Carl Fair of Mena, Arkansas

Grandchildren: Christy and Matt Cozart of Bryant, Arkansas Ryan Bell of Fayetteville, Arkansas Brent Bell of Mena, Arkansas Wendy and Patrick McDaniel of Mena, Arkansas Clint and Tanya Bell of Cove, Arkansas Jennifer and Bo Hayes of Cove, Arkansas Shauna and Jacob Wagner of Mena, Arkansas Cheyenne Bell of Cove, Arkansas Kristen and Alex Wade of Vandervoort, Arkansas Jeffrey Williamson of DeQueen, Arkansas Derinda and Jon Trobaugh of Little Rock, Arkansas Monica and Rob Christopher of Russellville, Arkansas Kisha, Zackarus, and Isaiah Fair of Mena, Arkansas

Great Grandchildren: Colten and Courtney McDaniel of Mena, Arkansas Kailey and Bradley Wade of Vandervoort, Arkansas Hannah, Justin, and Gabriel Bell of Cove, Arkansas Cooper Hayes of Cove, Arkansas Jordan and Hayden Wagner of Mena, Arkansas Henry Cozart of Bryant, Arkansas

Sister: Rebecca and Charles Baker of Cove, Arkansas

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Delbert Roy and James Eddye Ellis.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Vandervoort with Brother Gary Jewell, Brother Kevin Jewell, and Brother Leon Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery in Potter, Arkansas under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Visitation with family and friends will be Wednesday, April 8, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Clint Bell, Ryan Bell, Brent Bell, Jeff Williamson, Zackarus Fair, Isaiah Fair, Patrick McDaniel, Bo Hayes, Jacob Wagner, Matt Cozart, Alex Wade, Jon Trobaugh, and Rob Christopher.

During her youth she was blessed to have help and guidance from three loving grandparents: the late Ed and Susie Myers of Hatfield, and Claude “Pop” Ellis of Little Rock.

Marjorie "Margie" Evelyn Sharp Phelps

Mrs. Marjorie "Margie" Evelyn Sharp Phelps, age 86, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at her home.

She was born March 20, 1923 in Henrietta, OK to James Madison and Mable Edna Stoker Sharp. She was a retired employee of the Winthrop Public Schools and a member of the Community of Christ Church in Winthrop .

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Lee Phelps on May 5, 1977 and one son, Larry Phelps on November 11, 1988.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Melba and Terry Hess of Winthrop; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dean Flowers of California and Joan and Al Hale of Garland, TX; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Ruby Sharp of Garland, TX and Joe and Jo Frances Sharp of Winthrop; her grandchildren, Eddie and Shelley Oglesby of Maypearl, TX, Misty and Scott Moody of Texarkana and Michael Thornberry also of Texarkana; three great-grandchildren, Kent Oglesby, Madison Moody and Mallory Moody.

Funeral services for Mrs. Phelps will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2009 in the Community of Christ Church in Winthrop with Gary Hess and Bobby Kesterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.

Estelle Novelle Brown Naney

Estelle Novelle Brown Naney, age 88, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in the De Queen Medical center.

She was born October 1, 1920 in Marion County, Arkansas to Marvin and Lavada Ledford Brown. She was a former employee of Urrey's Department Store and the Family shoe Store in De Queen. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen.

Mrs. Naney was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J.B. Naney on October 31,1993;three sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by one son, Don Naney; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jerry Baker all of De Queen; one brother, Hoyt Brown Washington; one sister, Mozelle Williams of Harrison, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Jeff Baker, Justin Baker, Clint Naney and Amanda Martin; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Naney will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Hebert officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00p.m., Friday, April 3rd at the funeral home.

Edwin Alfred Schumacher

Edwin Alfred Schumacher, 90, of Greenville, Texas, went to be with the Lord the morning of March 31, 2009, in Greenville.

Mr. Schumacher was born October 23, 1918, in Elliot, North Dakota, the son of Albert and Christine Schumacher. He married Edna Earl Musgrave in 1950 in Newton, Kansas.

Mr. Schumacher was a retired Tool and Die Maker. He was of the Lutheran Faith and loved to tell people about Jesus. He was a very loving and caring father.

Surviving are his wife of Greenville; daughters Betty Hunt and husband Don of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Kathy Martin of McKinney, Texas, Mary Schumacher of Greenville, Texas, Jana Jones and husband Gary of Greenville, Texas, Robin Mountain and husband Chris of Greenville, Texas, Sherri Dawson and husband David of Greenville, Texas, Joy Perkins and husband Randy of Campbell, Texas; two sons David Schumacher of Sulphur Springs, Texas and Bill Schumacher and wife Lana of Wills Point, Texas; sisters Florence Kirsch of North Dakota and Laura Friscopp of Boise Idaho; two brothers Clarence Schumacher of Mena, Arkansas and Harvey Schumacher of Hawley, Minnesota. Mr. Schumacher has 19 grandchildren and also great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. Edwin Schumacher will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4th in the Duckett Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Ark

Beulah Wayland Bakenhus

Mrs. Beulah Wayland Bakenhus, age 84, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, March 27, 2009 in the Crystal Falls Nursing Center.

She was born August 26, 1924 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Robert and Nola Bunch Wayland. She was a homemaker and a member of the Nazarene Church in De Queen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lamar Bakenhus on April 27, 2002; grandchild, William Derick Bakenhus; brother, Ralph Wayland and a sister, Faye Whittington.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Gaythy Bakenhus of De Queen; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tommy Henthorn of Idabel, Oklahoma; one brother, Bob Wayland of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Cassandra Ross of Shreveport, Louisiana, Reisa and Dustin Bakenhus of De Queen.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Bakenhus will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009 in the Redmen Cemetery with Joyce McCown officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen

Max Lee Chance

Max Lee Chance, age 64, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 in the Dierks Health and Rehab Center.

He was born June 11, 1944 in Liberal, Kansas to LeRoy and Velda Nelson Chance. He was an artist and was a U.S. Marine having served in Vietnam.

Mr. Chance was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jody Klingenberg.

He is survived by one sister, Linda Ireland of Edgerton, Missouri; one brother, Ray Chance of Palm Springs, California; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 25, 2009 in the Liberal Cemetery in Liberal, Kansas.

Ida Bell Bradshaw Mitchell

Mrs. Ida Bell Bradshaw Mitchell, age 94, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in the Crystal Falls Nursing Center in De Queen.

She was born November 14, 1914 in Arden, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Rest Baptist Church in Foreman.

She is survived by two grandsons, Ceaser "Packy" Jones and his wife, Debbie of Nashville, Arkansas and Wayne Coulter Jones, of California; one daughter-in-law, Ricky Bell of Lockesburg; a cousin Beauty Hooks of Ashdown Arkansas; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and her extended family at the Crystal Falls Nursing Center.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mitchell will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 9,2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy Halsell officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Cemetery in Lockesburg.

Kenneth Earl Dockins

Mr. Kenneth Earl Dockins, age 54, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Monday, May 04, 2009, at his farm in Horatio.
He was born to Arnold Elmore and Pauline Collinsworth Dockins at Dallas, Texas, on October 25, 1954. He was a farmer and rancher, and was 1997 Farm Family of the Year. He was a Baptist, and enjoyed working and visiting with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Terri.

He is survived by his wife of over 33 years, Carole Vanscoder Dockins,a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and D. J. Dockins of Ben Lomond, Ark.; four daughters and a son-in-law, Sarah Dockins and Lisa Dockins both of Horatio, Ashley and Keith Cain also of Horatio, and Amanda Dockins of Conway, Ark.; five grandchildren, Allison, Kaidyn, Madison, Daxton, and Rikki, three brothers, and a sister-in-law, Jimmy and Pat Dockins of Waxahachie, Texas, Charlie and Larry Dockins both of De Queen, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Judy and Shorty Neal of Farmersville, Tex., and Debra Hibbs of De Queen.

Funeral Services for Mr. Kenneth Dockins will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2009 in the Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Cy Davis, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Millwee Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Chapel Hill Baptist Church of De Queen.

Neils Fredrick (Fred) Youngblood

Mr. Neils Frederick (Fred) Youngblood, age 90, a resident of Grannis, Arkansas died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born November 21, 1918 in Kellum, Arkansas . He was a farmer and rancher, and a World War II Army veteran. He loved to fish, hunt and spoil his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Youngblood was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lillie Rasmon Youngblood; four sisters, Lily June Youngblood, Mary Butler, Elsie Powell and Bessie Fitch; three brothers, Charles Wesley Youngblood, William Jeremiah Youngblood and John Sevier Youngblood; and one great-granddaughter, Kodi Leah Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jannie Anner Duggan Youngblood; nine children, and spouses, Danny and Carol Youngblood of Greenwood, Arkansas, June Wheeler of Grannis, Donnie and Georgia Youngblood of Palmer, Alaska, Dennie and Sharon Youngblood, Richard and Andrea Youngblood all of Watson, Oklahoma, Freda and John Moore, Betty Youngblood, Darvin and Jennifer Youngblood, and Andy and Tracy Youngblood all of Grannis, Arkansas; one brother, Robert Youngblood of Watson, Oklahoma; two sisters, Alice Parks of Houston, Texas and Marjorie Carpenter of De Queen; 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Youngblood will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Brazeal officiating. Burial will follow in the Youngblood Cemetery , west of the family home. Visitation is welcome at the Youngblood home.

Mrs. Leonor Stout
Mrs. Leonor Canamar Johnson Stout, age 80, a resident of De Queen, AR, died Friday, May 1, 2009, in the Christus St. Michael Health System.
She was born to Leo I. and Marina G. Gonzales Canamar at San Antonio, Texas on January 8, 1929. She had worked for the Social Security Administration, First Credit Co., Lakeland Air Force Base, De Queen School System, and as a Chaplain for Pilgrim’s Pride, as well as a homemaker. She had served in the military with the Naval Reserve, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Queen. She was involved with the Mary & Martha Center, and enjoyed being with people.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and on April 17, 2009, her husband, Harvey Stout.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Debra Johnson of Franklin, TN, a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Dr. Tom Thompson of Dallas, Texas, six grandchildren, Scott Johnson of De Queen, Stephen Johnson of Arkadelphia, Jennifer Gibson of Dierks, Eric Thompson, Rachel Thompson, and John Rawles Thompson all of Dallas, Texas, six Great-grandchildren, three brothers, Leonard Canamar, and Orlando Canamar both of San Antonio, Texas, and Roger Canamar of Santa Ana, CA, one sister, Irene J. Hoth of Friendswood, TX, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Leonor Stout will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Hebert officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 on Monday, May 4th.
