Geneva Faye Duke Reynolds

Mrs. Geneva Faye Duke Reynolds, age 85, a resident of Horatio, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born April 3, 1924 in Cerro Gordo, Arkansas . She was a waitress, homemaker, local musician and a Methodist.

Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lou Ella Spillman Duke; her husband, Elmer Leroy Reynolds, Sr. on June 20, 2002; and four brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Elmer Reynolds, Jr. of Springdale, Arkansas and Johnny Dean Reynolds of Texarkana, Texas; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Wilburn of Crossett, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Reynolds will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2009 in the Horatio Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Melba (Mammie) Alice Culp Van Voast

Mrs. Melba (Mammie) Alice Culp Van Voast was born June 23, 1926 in De Queen, Arkansas to James and Alice Billingsley Culp. She passed from this life on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in De Queen at the age of 82 years.

She was a homemaker, 4-H leader for 40 years and a member of the Geneva Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Philip Van Voast; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Anna Fenton of Montgomery, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nelda and Lou Kyger of Franklin, North Carolina, Jimmie Ann and Olin Shelton of Haworth, Oklahoma and Phyllis and Marvin Barrington of Mena, Arkansas; one brother, Kenneth Culp of De Queen; one sister, Roxa Casteel of New Castle, Texas; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Robert and Chris Nevels of Huntsville, Alabama, Kim and Todd Carver of Lockesburg, Arkansas, Debbie and Philip Turner of Ashdown, Arkansas, Joanna and Michael Mix of Nathalie, Virginia, Teresa Thornton of Ashdown, Tommy and Crystal Fenton of Touchet, Washington, Terry and Eliza Simmons of Ashdown, Michael and Melissa Fenton of Montgomery, Texas, DeAnna and Bryan Hamel of Sherman, Texas, Chad and Rachelle Burrow of Foreman, Arkansas; 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Van Voast was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ralph, Homer, Harley and Jim (Buck) Culp; two sisters, Inell McClenahan and Madge Dunn; and one grandson, Charles (Chuck) Nevels.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Van Voast will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Bright officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery .

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 1st at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Sevier County 4-H fund.

Ruth Edna Harris Shaver

Mrs. Ruth Edna Harris Shaver, age 69, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in the Christus St. Michael Health System.

She was born to Milton and Lavina Jensen Harris at Albany, New York, on January 16, 1940. She was an employee of Husqavana, as well as a homemaker. She was a Catholic, and enjoyed flowers and working.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Leland Shaver, Sr.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Leland, Jr. and Chris Shaver of De Queen, and Robert Shaver of Little Rock, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Steven Cavanagh of Horatio; eight grandchildren, Adrian, Garth, Caleb, Devon, Emily, Elizabeth, Alexandra, and Ethan; one brother, William Harris of New Jersey, one sister, Lavina Massey of Hurst, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Shaver will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2009 in the Clear Creek Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Roden officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Williamson Community Church, Horatio.

Morton Chandler Montgomery, Jr.

Morton Chandler Montgomery, Jr., age 82, a resident of Truth or Consequences New Mexico, died at his home on April 21, 2009.

He was born September 22, 1926 in De Queen, Arkansas to Katherine and Morton Montgomery, Sr. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances and three sisters, Vera House, Marie Montgomery and Bonnie Montgomery.

Funeral Services for Mr. Montgomery will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Sara Morgan McRae

Sara Morgan McRae, age 13, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, April 24, 2009 in De Queen.

She was born February 26, 1996 in Texarkana, Texas, to Phil and Sharon Daniel McRae. She was an honor student at De Queen Middle School where she loved all sports and was involved in basketball and track. She attended The First Baptist Church in De Queen.

She is survived by her parents, one brother, Cole McRae; grandparents, Sterling and “Pud” Daniel and James and Loretta McRae all of De Queen; great grandparents, Coleman and Helen McRae of De Queen.

Morgan lived life to the fullest, loved her family and animals and enjoyed the outdoors.

Funeral Services for Morgan will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Hebert and Mike Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 26th at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Sevier County Humane Society or the Morgan McRae Basketball Camp for Girls Scholarship at the First State Bank in De Queen.

Zella Mae Parker Priest

Zella Mae Parker Priest, 80, was born on December 29, 1928 in Turkey, TX. Zella Mae went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 23, 2009 at 3:15 p.m. She is survived by three daughters; Inez Frachiseur of Grannis, Kathy Ferguson and Teresa McCloud both of Dierks. She had nine grandchildren including; Scott and Shannon Frachiseur, Crystal Curtis, Zella Marie Runnels, Joey, Donavon, and Donna Priest, and Shanna and Alex McCloud. One surviving brother Jo Roland Parker of Murfreesboro and one sister Regina Ellis-James of Dierks, and twenty-one great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Clyde and Chlora Parker of Dierks, F.C. (Bunk) Priest, two sons Glen Edward Priest and Donald Ray Priest. Sister Veda Marie Chevalier, and brother Donald Earl Parker.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 25, at 3 p.m. at Mount Caramel Church. The viewing will be held at Davis Smith funeral home in Glenwood, AR. Family will be receiving visitors at the home of Roy and Kathy Ferguson (1126 Green Plains Rd., Dierks) from 6-8 p.m. on Friday April 24th.

Esteen Myrl Welker Esteen Myrl Welker

Esteen Myrl Welker, age 81 of Ashdown, Arkansas, formerly of Dierks, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in Ashdown.

She was born December 16, 1927 in Hopper, Arkansas to the late William and Bertie Cogburn Reynolds. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dierks Assembly of God Church. She loved playing games, enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center and playing Bingo with her friends. Her favorite time of the year was spring, because all things were coming to life. Most of all she loved her grandkids. She was a faithful Christian lady.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glen Welker in 2001. Survivors include 2 daughters, Glenda Helms of Ashdown, AR Linda Hill of Dierks, AR; 3 Grandchildren, Russell Helms of Ashdown Angie Nichols of Queen City, Texas Kelly Hill of Dierks A special grand-son-in-law, David Nichols of Queen City And a host of other family and friends as well as her church family.

Services will be Friday, April 24, 2009 at 3 pm. at Dierks Assembly of God Church with Bro. Henry Bateman and Bro. Donny Deloney officiating. Interment will follow in Dierks Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday night from 6 to 8 pm.

Betty Jean Davignon

Mrs. Betty Jean Davignon of Lockesburg, AR, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 in Texarkana, TX .

She was born July 26, 1942 in Dallas, TX . She was a homemaker, a member of the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, De Queen Chapter 241.

Mrs. Davignon was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben Gardner and Marie Franks White.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul Davignon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Lynn and Steve Burcham and Linda K. and David Steward, all of Lockesburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul S. Jr. and Cynthia Davignon of Provo, AR and Michael Wayne and Sonya Davignon of Wickes, AR; a sister and brother-in-law, Nelda and Dallas Mc Pherson of Irving, TX; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Davignon will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Old Union Cemetery near Lockesburg with Bro. James Gathright officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Norman Boyd Roberts

Norman Boyd Roberts of Lockesburg passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at his home.

He was born July 18, 1931 to Harley and Dovie Roberts in Van Buren, Arkansas . Boyd was a retired millwright with Weyerhaeuser. He was a 32nd degree mason, a member of Belleville Masonic Lodge #35 and a member of the Lockesburg City Council. Boyd loved playing his guitar, riding his 4-wheeler and spending time at the deer camp with his family.

Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Francis Evelyn Roberts, a grandson, Randall Allen Crow, a brother, Bobby Roberts and a sister, Helen Roberts.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Roberts; two sons, Bill Roberts of Lockesburg and Norman Roberts of Horatio; three daughters, Trisha Crow of De Queen, Shelba Smith and Sue Brewer of Lockesburg; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Roberts will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2009 in the Oddfellows section of the Lockesburg Cemetery with Rev. Jerrel Helms and Rev. Wallace Wooten officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will be at the Roberts home, 101 W. Pine in Lockesburg.

Phyllis Ann McWhorter Green

Phyllis Ann Green

Mrs. Phyllis Ann McWhorter Green, age 62, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Monday, May 25, 2009, at her home.
She was born to Allen “Windy” and Lillie Lee Liggin McWhorter at Lockesburg, Arkansas, on November 1, 1946. She was a dietician at Howard County Hospital at Nashville, Arkansas, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church, and enjoyed camping and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Louis McWhorter, and a sister, Tava Gordon.

She is survived by her husband of over 46 years, Dale Green; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lans Dale Green, Jr., and Kenneth Loyd and Teresa Green, all of Lockesburg. Two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Sarah McWhorter of Kirby, Arkansas, and David and Penny McWhorter of Lockesburg, one sister and brother-in-law, Genetta and Willie Adams of De Queen, four grandchildren, Jamie, Cassie, Zeke, and Chris, two great-grandchildren, Colton and Dalton, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Phyllis Green will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2009, in the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church of Lockesburg with Rev. James Gathright officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26th

Jacqueline Ann Wilkerson Lyons

Mrs. Jacqueline Ann Wilkerson Lyons, age 85, a resident of Tyler, Texas, died Friday, May 22, 2009 in Tyler .

She was born March 30, 1924 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas . She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lyons, Jr. on December 23, 2006; parents, Fred and Evelyn Leard Wilkerson.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Suzie Lyons of Richardson, Texas; two grandchildren, Kelli Frantzen and Carter Lyons; one great grandchild, Tyler Ryan Frantzen; one brother, Fred Wilkerson, Jr. of De Queen.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Lyons will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2009 in the Redmen Cemetery with Rev. Charles Hebert officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Houston H. Wolf

Mr. Houston H. Wolf, passed away peacefully, May 18, 2009, after a short illness, at Providence Hospital in Medford, Or.

He was born to Lewis & 'Macky' Wolf on April 27, 1920 in De Queen, Ark. On August 21, 1937 in De Queen he married the Love of his life, Edna Lucille Johnston and would have celebrated 72 years of wedded bliss this August.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1942, where he served as communications sergeant during World War II and was Honorably Discharged. in 1946. He continued to work in logging and operating a Service Station in Klamath Falls, but then moved to Winston, Or. and worked as a mechanic for Down River Products from 1952-1965. He was transferred to the White City, Or. Down River Products in 1965 and worked there until retiring in 1983.

Survivors include his wife Edna, daughter Lynn Nave-Rose (Jess) of Central Point, Or., son Timothy Wolf (Jodi) of Medford, Or., grandsons Richard Nave (Jackie), Terry Nave (JoAnne) of Central Point, Or., granddaughter Nicki Wolf, of New York, step-grandson's Phil Moore (Tiffany) Michael Moore (Joie), Paul Moore of Central Point, Or., Great grand-children Trevor, Rikki, Brandon, Amber, Arianna and Adrianna of Central Point, Or. Sister's Ethel Waldon, Bernice (Page) Dolph of DeQueen, Ark. and Katherine (A.G.) Gentry of Wicks, Ark., Sister-in-law Alte Wolf of Hawkins, texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis & "Macky" his brother Preston Wolf and son-in-law Richard Nave.

Services will be held at Perl Funeral Home on Siskiyou Blvd. in Medford, Or., May 26,2009 at 11:00 a.m., viewing for friends and relatives will be May 26, 2009 at Perl Funeral Home between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Pastor Dean Blackwell, of the Church of Christ will be officiating. In 1941 they moved to Klamath Falls, Or.
