Samuel Kanna

Mr. Samuel Kanna, age 84, a resident of Hatton, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 26, 2009, in the Dubuis Hospital of Texarkana.
He was born to Pete and Katherine Kanna at Vandervoort, Arkansas, on December 9, 1924. He was a diesel mechanic, and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, George, Paul, Andy, and Fred Kanna, and two sisters, Helen & Ann.

He is survived by his wife, Sadie Brock Kanna of Hatton, Ark.; two sons, Ricky Kanna and J. R. Walker both of Hatton, Ark.; two brothers, John Kanna of Mena, Ark.; and Mitchell Kanna of Wickes, Ark.; one sister, Mary Manuel of Dallas, Texas.

Graveside funeral services for Samuel Kanna were entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home and were held on Friday, November 27th at 10:00 a.m. in the Cecil Chapel Cemetery, Vandervoort, Arkansas

Michael Loyd Burt

Mr. Michael Loyd Burt, age 32, a resident of Fouke, Arkansas, died Monday, November 23rd in Yankton, South Dakota.
He was born to Dennis Lloyd Burt and Rhonda Ann Campbell Burt at Nashville, Arkansas, on June 2, 1977. He was a mechanic, and was an employee of Willbros Construction Company. He was a Baptist, and enjoyed 4-Wheeling, hunting, and fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Burt, his grandparents, Donald Campbell, and Lloyd Burt, his great-grandparents, Charlie and Hattie Campbell.

He is survived by his life companion, Sharon Elaine McCuller of Fouke, Ark.; children, Brandon, Brittney, Brahanna, Bradlee all of Fouke, Ark., his mother, Rhonda A Burt of Lockesburg, Ark., a brother, Garry Warford of Lockesburg, one sister, Christi Maleski of Glenwood, Ark., his grandparents, Darlene and James Williamson of Texarkana, Ark., and Bonnie Burt of De Queen, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Mr. Michael Burt are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 30th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the East Memorial Gardens, Texarkana, Ark. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29th.

Billie Jean Burnett Neeley

Mrs. Billie Jean Burnett Neeley, age 84, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 19, 2009, in De Queen.
She was born at Dallas, Texas, on July 18, 1925, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the De Queen Church of Christ, and enjoyed painting, flower gardening, crafts, and especially her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Larry Gene Neeley, and her beloved husband Ben Neeley, Sr. in June of 2008.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben, Jr. and Sue Neeley and, Rodger and Teresa Neeley all of De Queen, four grandchildren, Tammy and Kevin Phipps of De Queen, Jocelyn and Barry Reed of De Queen, Benjamin and Rachel Neeley of Teague, Texas, and Jonathan and Holly Neeley of Nashville, Ark.; four great-grandchildren, Meagan and Johnny Daley of De Queen, Claira Neeley of Teague, Texas, Noah and Luke Reed of De Queen, two great-great-grandchildren, Jordan and Eli Daley both of De Queen.

Funeral services for Mrs. Billie Neeley are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, of De Queen, and will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 20th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Benjamin Neeley and Jonathan Neeley, ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery, De Queen. The family will be at the home of Rodger Neeley at 669 Crosstrails, Road, De Queen.

Thomas C. Eason

Mr. Thomas C. Eason, age 75, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, November 18th at his home.
He was born to Otis and Dollie Mae Williams Eason at King, Arkansas, on April 30, 1934. He was retired owner of Eason痴 Small Engine Repair, and a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church at De Queen. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Elvin Eason, his sisters, Mae Waldron, Margaret Jones, Alleen Latham, and Lorene Odum, and in March of 2008, his wife of over 37 years, Juanita Eason.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Darla Eason of Fort Smith, Ark.; Edgar and Linda Kerley of Dangerfield, Texas, and Nicky and Mary Ann Eason of Texarkana, Texas, four daughters and sons-in-law, Gail Sowell of Texarkana, Ark.; Dollie and Nathan Duck of Sarepta, La., Angie and Javier James of Broken Bow, Okla., and Kristy and Jackie Taylor of De Queen, one step-daughter, Sue and her husband, Benny Samuels of De Queen, one brother and sister-in-law, S. G. and Rosie Eason of Lockesburg, Ark.; one sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and H. L. Willbanks of Houston, Tex., twenty-four grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Tom Eason are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen, and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21st in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Millcreek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, November 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Valarie Jane Key Jackson

Mrs. Valarie Jane Key Jackson, age 62, a resident of Colleyville, Texas, died Saturday, November 14, 2009 in the Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas.

She was born December 10, 1946 in De Queen, Arkansas. She graduated from Christopher Newport/William and Mary in 1976 with a BBA. She was an automobile salesperson for 5 Star Ford in North Richland Hills, Texas since 1991 and a Christian.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Scott and Adley Imogene Smith Key.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Jackson of Colleyville, Texas; one brother, Curtis Key of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Scotteen Estes of Kilgore, Texas and Nova and Laney Lawrence of Lebanon, Tennessee; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lisa and John Mize of Dallas, Texas; two nieces, Heather Lawrence of Lebanon and Bonnie Estes of Kilgore; two nephews, Scott Lawrence of Lebanon and Jackson Mize of Dallas, and her dog, Amigo Jackson.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Jackson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the King Ryder Church of Christ in Crossroads with Leon Klitz, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Pauley Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m., until service time, Wednesday, November 18th at the King Ryder Church.

Christine Harmon

Mrs. Christine Marie Hill Harmon, age 52, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, November 12, 2009, in the Christus St. Michael Health System. She was born November 10, 1957 at Saginaw, Michigan, and was homemaker. She was member of the First Baptist Church of Grannis, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. She was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin Hill and a son, Daniel Ray Harmon.

She is survived by her husband, Dave Harmon of De Queen, a daughter Cassandra Harmon of DeQueen, her parents, R. Duane and Sandra Hill of Mena, Ark.; two brothers, Jeff Hill of Hatfield, Ark., and Robert Hill of Mena, Arkansas, four sisters, Noreen Cameron of Kempner, Texas, Loreen Ewing of Ft. Smith, Ark.; Corenna Fall of Mena, and Tammy Watson of Ft. Smith, Ark.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 14th from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Cremation will follow.

William R. Lafernier

Mr. William R. Lafernier, age 79, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, November 14, 2009 in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.
He was born on January 4, 1930. He was preceded in death by Anna Bell Jockier, and a brother, Edward. He came to De Queen on a train, looking for warmer weather and work.

He became sick and wasn稚 able to return North. He had worked in Oregon.

No services are scheduled. Cremation under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Clint L. O誰eal

Clint L. O誰eal, age 62, a resident of New Hope, AR died Friday, November 13, 2009 in Hot Springs, AR.

He was born March 11, 1947 in Nashville, AR. He was retired from Briar Plant and was a member of the Daisy Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Reid O誰eal.

He is survived by two sons, Ryan O誰eal of New Hope and Shawn O誰eal of Dierks, AR; his father, Lemuel O誰eal of New Hope; one brother, Jeff O誰eal of Prague, OK; one sister, Brenda Watson of Nashville, AR; and his former wife and good friend, Terry O誰eal of Dierks.

Funeral services for Mr. O誰eal will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2009 in the Holly Creek Baptist Church in Dierks with Rev. Kenny Fant officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2009 at the funeral home in Dierks.

Thurman Dierks

Mr. Thurman Dierks, age 91, a resident of Foreman, Arkansas, died Friday, November 13, 2009 at Brookwood Nursing & Rehab., De Queen.
He was born to Luther and Mele Ford Dierks at Horatio, Arkansas, on March 9, 1918. He was a veteran of World War II, and was retired from Red River Army Depot. He was a Baptist, and enjoyed gardening, hunting, and chickens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Eugene and Cecil Dierks, and an infant daughter, Marquita Dierks.

He is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Irene Allen Dierks of Foreman, Ark.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Emmitt T. and Lucy Dierks of McKinney, Texas, Luther Dean and Peggy Dierks of Foreman, Ark.; five grandchildren, Daniel Allen Dierks, U.S. military, San Diego, Calif., David Adam Dierks of McKinney, Texas, Dusty Dean Dierks, Misty Dierks Warren, and Lonnie Beau Strout all of Foreman, Ark.; seven great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Thurman Dierks are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen, and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15th in the Old Center Church, Horatio, Arkansas, with Bro. Don Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery, Horatio. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, November 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Geraldine "Geri" Suttle McCoy

Geraldine "Geri" Suttle McCoy was born to William Everton Suttle and Florence McCumber Suttle in Ketchum, Oklahoma on August 20, 1921. She went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.

Through her 88 years she was an inspiration to all. She was a homemaker and very active member in the Horatio United Methodist Church. At the time of her first stroke in 2002 she was president of her UMW. She was always available to play bridge or take people to their appointments. She traveled all over the United States to visit her family. She always had a sweet smile to bestow on those who were in need of a friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. McCoy in 1977.

She is survived by her children, daughter and son-in-law, Veva and Billy Foster of Horatio, AR, son and daughter-in-law, James and Iris Cooper McCoy of Duluth, GA, son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Vicki Graham McCoy of Deltona, FL; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Sherman Chastain, and numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and many friends.

A celebration of Geri痴 life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009 in the Horatio First United Methodist Church with Steve Copley and Fred Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Horatio Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, November 13th at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Horatio United Methodist Church building fund, Horatio Cemetery Association or the charity of your choice.

Walter Franklin Gore

Walter Franklin Gore, 72, formerly of De Queen, Arkansas, passed away peacefully November 8, 2009 in the Ft. Roots Veterans Healthcare Center in Little Rock.

Mr. Gore was born to parents Charner and Nellie Gore on August 21, 1937 in Hatton, Arkansas. He was a disabled veteran and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Laura E. Jordan, and one brother, Kent R. Gore. Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Calvin B. Gore and Audrey Gore of Cerritos, CA and Charner H. Gore, Jr. and Margaret, of Carmichael, CA, and sister-in-law Evon Gore, of Chesapeake, VA; he is also survived by three nieces, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009 in the Millwee Cemetery near Horatio, AR with Rev. Grant Groves officiating, under the direction of the Wilkerson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 13th at the funeral home in De Queen.
