Ingeburg Maria Metzner Kendrick

Mrs. Ingeburg Maria Metzner Kendrick, age 76, a resident of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, died Wednesday, October 7th at her home.
She was born to Otto and Elfriede Metzner in Germany, on August 18, 1933. She was a Catholic, and attended St. Barbara’s Catholic Church, De Queen, as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed yard work, her rose garden, cooking, and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, James H. Kendrick of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Birgit Metzner of Olching, Germany, James H, Jr. and Brenda Kendrick of Wake Village, Texas, two daughters and a son-in-law, Suzann Marie Leavor of Dade City, Florida, and Tracy and Scott Frachiseur of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, two sisters, Margot Doberenz of Germany, and Ursala Pennington of Lorain, Ohio, six grandchildren, Shawn and Matthew Leavor of Dade City, Florida, Kaitlin and Madison Householder of Laguna Park, Texas, Brandi and Autumn Frachiseur of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, two step-grandsons, Garrett and Jalon Frachiseur of Horatio and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Ingeburg Kendrick are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, and will be held on Saturday, October 10th at 2:00 p.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Father Chet Artysiewicz officiating. Memorials may be made to the Ingeburg Kendrick Memorial Fund at the First National Bank, 504 Collin Raye Drive, De Queen. AR 71832.

Joe Donald Marshall

Mr. Joe Donald Marshall, 70, of Salem, Virginia died Monday, October 5, 2009. Joe was the youngest of the five sons of Walter and Nellie Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Dick, Lavon, and Dean.

He is survived by his wife Judy, his children Sherry Siska, Pam Marshall, and Terry Marshall; a son-in-law Jim Siska and a daughter-in-law Aimee Marshall and five grandchildren. One brother Ted and Ruth Marshall of De Queen, Arkansas. Sister-in-law Edna Marshall of Washburn, Iowa, as well as many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be Friday, October 9, 2009 at 2;00 P.M. at Lotz funeral Home Salem Chapel, with graveside services to follow at Sherwood Burial Park in Salem Virginia.

Ellen Ruth Westbrook McKeever

Ellen Ruth Westbrook McKeever passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 in Portales, New Mexico.

She was born on February 4, 1920 in Lockesburg, Arkansas.

She is preceded in death by her husband H.B. “Stub” McKeever and her parents, Oly Carl Westbrook and Nan Elizabeth (Bell) Westbrook, and her brother Charles Dean “Bud” Westbrook.

She is survived by her children H.B. “Benjie” McKeever (wife: Debra), Shelba White (husband: Kenneth), and grandson Richard “Ricky” Len Long White. Nephews, James A. “Sonny” Westbrook (wife: Rita), and Russell Paul Westbrook (wife: Joyce) of Mena, Arkansas. Step children, Robert “Bob” McKeever (wife: Teresa), Joann McKeever Patton, H.B. “Buck” (wife: Raedeen) McKeever and Ronald “Ronnie” McKeever (wife: Gail). She is survived by many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services for Mrs. McKeever will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 10, 2009 in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Allen Hooks

Mr. Allen Hooks, 55, of Lockesburg, Arkansas, passed away October 1, 2009 in Lockesburg. He was born August 25, 1954 in Pasadena, Texas, the son of Alvin and Bettye Hooks. He was employed by Pilgrims Pride and had lived in Sevier County for the past 10 years, moving there from Broken Bow.

He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed camping with his sister and family and especially enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Hooks and Bettye Hooks Dunklin and by a nephew, Chad Hooks. He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Lacy Hooks of Lockesburg, AR; brother, Tony Hooks of Pasadena, TX; sisters, Traci McNiel of Idabel and Tammy Rosas of Broken Bow; 3 grandchildren, Damion, Amber and Ethan; 4 nieces and 4 nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 5, 2009 from 6 to 8 pm at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Bunch-Singleton Chapel. Interment will follow at Hollycreek Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home of Broken Bow.

Roy Edley Rowell

Mr. Roy Edley Rowell, age 75, a resident of Lockesburg, Ark, and former resident of Ashdown, died on Sunday, October 4, 2009, in a Ashdown Hospital.
He was born to Jesse E. and Sarah Elizabeth Plunk Rowell at Horatio, Arkansas, on May 10, 1934. He was a retired mechanic, and a member of the Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding with family and friends along the country roads of Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Janie Lou Ford Rowell, two sisters; Marie Suggs and Dixie Rowell; one brother, Walter D. Rowell; and a son-in-law, James Ray Watts. He is survived by his wife of over 37 years, Loretta M. Young Rowell of Lockesburg, three sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey “PeeWee” and Brenda Rowell of Noxon, Mont., Scott Rowell of Odessa, Texas, Roy, Jr. and Benita Rowell of Lockesburg, two daughters, Sherry Land Watts of Wickes, and Vivian and J. R. Green of Lockesburg, five grandchildren, Tonya, and her husband, Carmen Olalde, Timmy and his wife, Monica Land, Ashley and Dakota Watts all of Wickes, and Roy Rowell, III of Lockesburg, two great-gandchildren, Kaleb Joel Olalde and Riley Dawn Land both of Wickes, Ark.; several nieces, nephews, and Special friends, Allen and Dorothy Lockeby of Ashdown, Juanita Cox of Benton, Ark.; and Selah Dyer of Ashdown.

Services for Mr. Rowell are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen, and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in the Bellville Cemetery, with Bro. Wesley Blankenship officiating. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Dustin Eugene Blair

Dustin Eugene Blair, age 25, a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at his home.

He was born September 20, 1984 in Texarkana, Texas. He was a lineman for Tac AIR.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ethel Nunn, George Nunn and Jack Gallagher.

He is survived by his parents, Gene and Sue Blair of Ashdown; one sister and brother-in-law, Regina and Jared Harper of Texarkana, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Brandon and Sarah Blair of Ashdown; his grandmother, Virginia Blair and his grandfather, Donald Blair both of Ashdown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2009 in the Jesus Worship Center in Ashdown with Brady Gardner and Shad McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Gravelly Cemetery in Foreman, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Perry Gwendolyn Lowrey

Perry Gwendolyn Lowrey, 58, of Dierks, AR died Thursday, October 01, 2009 in a Texarkana hospital.

Gwen was born January 20, 1951 in De Queen, Arkansas to Aud and Perry Cearley. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dierks, where she was the pianist. She enjoyed teaching many students how to play the piano over the past 30 years and spending all her spare time with her five grandchildren.

Mrs. Lowrey was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Michael Lowrey.

She is survived by include her husband of 39 years, David Lowrey; two sons, Scott Lowrey, and wife Kari and Lance Lowrey, and wife Rachel all of Dierks and daughter-in-law Rachel Ward Garner of Arkadelphia, AR. Her five grandchildren are Taryn Lowrey, Bradley Lowrey, Chandler Lowrey, Perri Lowrey, & Madison Lowrey; one brother, G.A. Cearley, of Vandervort, AR; a sister, Jackie Wakefield, of Texarkana, TX; several nieces and nephews and a number of very close friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lowrey will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 3 at First Baptist Church in Dierks. Burial will follow in the Old Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2009 at the funeral home chapel in Dierks.

Evelyn Ann White Roberts

Evelyn Ann White Roberts, age 74, of Lockesburg, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in De Queen, Arkansas.

Evelyn was born August 20, 1935 in De Queen. She was a homemaker, a member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Lockesburg Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband Norman Boyd Roberts on May 26, 2009; parents, Raymond and Mildred Marie Miller White; a daughter, Francis Evelyn Roberts; a grandson, Randall Allen Crow and two brothers.

She is survived by three daughters, Trisha Crow of De Queen, Shelba Smith of Lockesburg and Sue Brewer of Lockesburg; two sons, Bill Roberts of Lockesburg and Norman Roberts of Horatio, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Roberts will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2009 in the Oddfellows section of the Lockesburg Cemetery with Ann Holley officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will be at the Roberts home, 101 W. Pine in Lockesburg

John H. "Johnny" Strother

John H. (Johnny) Strother age 65 of Bismarck died Monday, September 28, 2009 at his home. He was born June 29, 1944 in the Red Hill Community near Arkadelphia the son of the late Lester C. and Floy Mae McGuire Strother. Johnny was a welder and owner /operator for his Steel/Fabrication business for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, active in law enforcement serving as a Hot Spring County Deputy and as a Deputy Coroner for Hot Spring County. One brother, Mickey Strother preceded him in death.

Survivors are three sons, Daniel J. Strother and wife, Chiaimie of Okinawa, Japan; John B, (Barry) Strother and wife, Shannon of Dequeen, Arkansas; Jeremy Strother and wife, Stacey; two step children, Robin Smoke and husband, Michael; Scott Shaw all of Bismarck, Arkansas; two brothers, Lee Strother and wife, Joyce of Victorville, California; Ron Strother and wife, Paula of Little Rock, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Karen Strother, Rally Strother, Joseph B. Strother, Jacob Ryan Strother, Morgan Lane Strother, Kierston Strother, Jessikah Strother; one sister-n-law, Alva Strother of Bismarck, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Arkadelphia. Interment will be in DeRoche Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Shearin, Keith Dennis, John Keding, John Crangle, Jake Crangle, Blake Zavadil, Ronnie Stephenson, Joseph Strother and Jacob Strother. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Canfield, Jeremy Luker, Andy Porterfield, Mike Smith, Ernie Cox, Ferrall Hall and Robert Ferguson. Family will receive friends at the home following services. Mary Sue Walker Greathouse Westbrook

Mrs. Mary Sue Walker Greathouse Westbrook, age 78, a resident of De Queen, Ark., died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at her home.
She was born to Thomas Eddie and Rebecca Jane Mayo Walker at De Queen, Arkansas, on March 18, 1931. She was a retired cashier at Furrs Grocery in Odessa, Texas, and Lewis Food Center in De Queen, and was a Baptist. She enjoyed quilting, canning, cows, bailing hay, gardening, and music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, her first husband, Russell “Rusty” Greathouse, two step-sons, Leon Greathouse, and Gene Greathouse, and a grandson, Christopher Greathouse.

She is survived by her husband of over 18 years, Ray Westbrook of De Queen, six sons, Mike Greathouse of Odessa, Texas, Rusty Greathouse. of Ft. Worth, Texas, Orville Greathouse of Ponder, Texas, Buster Greathouse of San Marcos, Texas, Ricky Greathouse and Robert Greathouse both of Odessa, Texas, three daughters, Ellen Jones of Abilene, Texas, Nancy Brown, and Lynn Sebolt both of Odessa, Texas, three step-sons, Ivan Greathouse of Phoenix, Arizona, Don Greathouse of Kilgore, Texas, and Cullus Westbrook of Lubbock, Texas, two step-daughters, Rita Pike of Longview, Texas, and Rhonda Westbrook of Wylie, Texas, 38 grandchildren, and 64 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Mary Sue Greathouse Westbrook will be held in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Odessa, Texas, under the direction of Acres West.
