Mr. Carl Lee Stinnett

Mr. Carl Lee Stinnett, age 82, a resident of Horatio, died Friday, August 21, 2009 in Malvern, Arkansas. He was born October 3, 1926 in De Queen. He was the owner and operator of Carl’s Barber Shop for 56 years, a member of the First Baptist Church in Horatio and a World War II Navy veteran.

Mr. Stinnett was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Irene Butler Stinnett; and his wife, Bernice Stinnett on June 1, 1995.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Sue Stinnett of Malvern, Arkansas, Tim and Patti Stinnett of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Mike and Lorri Stinnett of Morrilton, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Barbara Stinnett of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Jennifer Scott and husband Daryl, Ashley Stinnett, Jason Stinnett, Aleksi Stinnett and Jordin Stinnett; and one great-granddaughter, Maddie Scott.

Funeral Services for Mr. Stinnett will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2009 in the First Baptist Church in Horatio with Rev. Joe Walden officiating. Burial will follow in the Horatio Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 22nd at the funeral home.

Rev. Curtis Murriel Smith, Jr.

Rev. Curtis Murriel Smith, Jr., age 82, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Friday, August 21, 2009, in the De Queen Medical Center.
He was born at Horatio, Arkansas, on September 11, 1926. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Navy. He was employed at Sharpe Army Depot for 28 years, and served as president of the AFGE Local 1546 in Stockton, California. After his retirement, he moved back to Horatio, where he was called to pastor the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Smith, Sr., his mothers, Ollie Mae Smith and Beatrice Smith, two brothers, Arthur Lee Smith and Rev. Leroy Smith, his sister, LaVerna Ingram.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie V. East Smith of Horatio, two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Jo Smith of Sacramento, California, and Sylvia Jean Lubin and Roosevelt Heath of Stockton, Calif., two sons, Curtis Edward and Joyce Smith of Suisun, Calif., Earl A. and Angel Smith of Stockton, Calif,, a sister, Mary Betts of DeKalb, Texas, seven grandchildren, One great-grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Rev. Curtis Smith, Jr. will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2009, in the First Baptist Church of Horatio, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery, Santa Nella, California. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

William Hugh Davis

Mr. William Hugh Davis, age 86, a resident of Horatio, and former resident of Grannis, Ark., died Thursday, August 20, 2009 in De Queen Medical Center.
He was born to George Lester and Addie Lee Joplin Davis at Vandervoort, Arkansas, on September 20, 1922. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Navy SeaBee’s He was a cattleman, and a Baptist. He enjoyed being outside with his horses and cows, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Lester and Whitson Davis, a sister, Opal Reno, and in 1976, his first wife, Modena Frachiseur Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Louise Reed Davis of Horatio, five sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Hugh Davis of Horatio, James and DeeDee Atwood of Cloudy, Okla., Matthew and Lisa Atwood of Austin, Texas, Johnny Atwood of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jacob and Melissa Atwood of Horatio, three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn Lyn and Keith McKinney of De Queen, Annie Mae and Tommy Cogburn of Holdenville, Okla, and Martie and Bill Springer of Ft. Worth, Texas, six grandchildren, Kevin Harp, Kelly Harp, Layla Davis, Walter Davis, Kelly Rae Pugh, and Brian McKinney, fifteen step-grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Dora Marea McGregor of Waco, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. William Davis will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2009 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Hebert officiating. Burial will follow in the Grannis Cemetery, Grannis, Ark., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Lillav Ruth Spruill Lovell

Lillav Ruth Spruill Lovell, age 89, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at her home.

She was born December 11, 1919 in Lometa, Texas. She was a homemaker, former employee of Dickinson Nursing Home and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She married Bengie Mortimer "Ben" Lovell on July 1, 1937 who preceded her in death on April 27, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jack J. and Lillav Rodgers Spruill.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Sharp and Virginia Addis both of De Queen; three sons, Dale Lovell of Bismarck, Arkansas, Roger Lovell of De Queen and Bruce Lovell of North Pole, Alaska; three sisters, Betty Marsh of Georgetown, South Carolina, Sue Devoir of Maryland and Laverne Gaddy of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother, Don Spruill of Crockett, Texas; six grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date

Divona Jo Taylor

Divona Jo Taylor, age 57, a resident of Horatio, died Sunday, August 16, 2009 in the Brookewood Nursing and Rehab Center in De Queen.

She was born September 14, 1951 in San Diego, California. She worked for the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Gene Taylor.

She is survived by one son, Donnie Halbert of Conway; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Walker and George Bowens of Horatio; her mother, Pauline Flowers Taylor of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren, Emily Walker, Allison Halbert, Jack Walker, Kara Walker, Alex Halbert, Kylie Bowens and Spencer Bowens; one sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Johnny George of Choctaw, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Rusty and Sallie Taylor of California and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mina Lee Sanders Voss

Mrs. Mina Lee Sanders Voss, age 83, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
She was born to James Washington and Ollie May Brown Sanders at Alleene, Arkansas, on April 4, 1926. She was a Christian, and a homemaker. She enjoyed collecting rocks and antiques, and taking care of the community and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Voss, a son, Marvin Voss, two grandchildren, Sandra Taylor, and Lonnie Pack, two great-grandchildren, Dereck Taylor, and Lindsey Collins.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jasper and Lila Voss of Goodwater, Oklahoma, Leon and Paulette Voss of Crossroads, Arkansas, and Lonnie Voss of Pittsburg, Texas, two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Whitlow of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Reba and Joe Collins of Foreman, Ark.; a daughter-in-law, Anise Voss of Irving, Texas, a special son, David Smith, and his wife, Linda, of Ashdown, Ark.; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, as well as other family members.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Mina Voss will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009 in the Redland Cemetery near Idabel, Okla., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12th.

Tracy Dawn Jones

Tracy Dawn Jones, age 24, a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas died Monday, August 10, 2009 near Ashdown.

She was born August 17, 1984 in De Queen, Arkansas.

Miss Jones is survived by her parents, Karen Glover Miller of Ashdown and Milton Jones of Linden, Texas; one brother, Tim Jones of Ashdown; one sister Amy Jones of Ashdown; two nephews, Stephen Williams and Sean Shores.

Graveside Funeral Services for Tracy Dawn Jones will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2009 in the Redmen Cemetery with Michael Wilson officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Doreen Moore Reynaud

Mrs. Doreen Moore Reynaud, age 86, a resident of Wake Village, Texas died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at her home.

She was born December 30, 1922 in Burnley, England. She was a homemaker a Baptist and served in the Royal Air Force during World War II.

Mrs. Reynaud was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Moore and Mary Blezard; her husband, Husley Reynaud on July 22, 1974; and one daughter, Diane Liebert.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Kaye Reynaud of Hughes Springs, Texas; two daughters, Valerie Reynaud of Texarkana, Arkansas and Sheila Clark of Wake Village, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Reynaud will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in the Redmen Cemetery with Rev. Charles Hebert officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Richard Vern “Ricky” Wilson

Mr. Richard Vern “Ricky” Wilson, age 38, a resident of Grannis Ark., died Sunday, August 9th at his home.
He was born to Richard Vernett Wilson and Judy Elaine Sparks at Talihina, Oklahoma, on August 27, 1970. He was a power line clearance Foreman for Asplundh Tree Service, and had served in U. S. Army. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Grannis, and enjoyed God's Creation, and spending time with family out in the great-out doors. He spent his remaining days waiting upon the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Paulene Bailey Wilson of Grannis, One daughter, Angelina Marie Wilson of Grannis, two step-sons, Charles Michael Williams of Broken Bow, Okla.; and Kelly Ray Smith of Grannis, his father, Richard V. Wilson of Smithville, Okla.; his mother, Judy Sparks and his step-father, Gerald also of Hooks, Texas, a brother, Michael Allen Wilson of Wickes, Ark.; a sister, Tonya Elaine Wilson of Gilmer, Texas, a grandson, Charles Dakota Williams, his grandmother, Marjorie Sparks of Hooks, Texs, and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

A memorial service for Mr. Ricky Wilson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2009 in the First Baptist Church at Grannis, with Bro. Homer Frachiseur officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Memorials may be made to the Grannis First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Jackie Odene Coleman

Mr. Jackie Odene Coleman, age 54, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, August 08, 2009, in the Christus St. Michael’s Health Center, Texarkana, Texas.
He was born to James William and Angie Imogene Bowden Coleman at Dallas, Texas, on November 23, 1954. He was an employee of Bailey’s Discount Building Supply in De Queen, and was a Baptist. He enjoyed yard work, fishing, and camping.

He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister, Sandra Jean Skinner.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Ann Grant Coleman of De Queen, one daughter, Connie Jean Coleman of De Queen, his mother, Angie Imogene Coleman of Canton, Texas, one brother, James Michael Coleman of Lancaster, Texas, one sister, Patricia Ann Pless of Lancaster, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and sister-in-laws.

A memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 3:00 p.m., in the Rose Hill Baptist Church. Cremation arrangements under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Corene Holcombe

Mrs. Corene Floyd Holcombe, age 92, a resident of Lockesburg, AR, died Friday, August 7, 2009, in De Queen.
She was born to Perry Calhoun and Urcy Arnold Floyd in the Longview Community of Howard County, Arkansas, on March 28, 1917. She and her husband, Denzil, were owners of Lockesburg Hardware. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lockesburg, and attended the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church of Lockesburg. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Denzil Holcombe, a son, Bobby Holcombe, her parents, and a sister, Crystal Shannon.

She is survived by one daughter, Ceci Holcombe Bettell of Lockesburg, a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Holcombe of De Queen, three grandchildren, Jeffrey Holcombe of De Queen, Mandi Spier of Moss Bluff, LA., and Chris Bettell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, three great-grandchildren, Tate, Luke, and Broc, a niece, Virginia Hardin of Nashville, AR, as well as other relatives.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Corene Holcombe will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2009, in the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church, Lockesburg, with Bro. Donnie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulter Cemetery, Lockesburg, AR.

The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Sunday, August 9th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
