Arvle E. Morris

Mr. Arvle E. Morris, age 76, a resident of New Hope, Arkansas died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He was born May 15, 1933 in Dierks, Arkansas. He was a carpenter, loved hunting and the great outdoors, was a Vietnam Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Cullen W. and Rosia McQuary Morris; and one son, Arvle Morris, Jr.

He is survived by one son, Ricky Morris of New Hope; three sisters, Hazel Steelman of Marysville, California, Helen Audrey of Hooks, Texas and Adele Fendley of Bismarck, Arkansas and a multitude of friends and relatives.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Morris will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2009 in the Fellowship Cemetery with Jimmy Jester officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Gary Warren Ray

Gary Warren Ray, age 53, a resident of Rogers, Arkansas died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at his home.

He was born March 8, 1956 in Nashville, Arkansas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Bertha C. Ray.

He is survived by three sisters and a brother-in-law, Sharon Ray of Rogers, Arkansas, Lynn and Bob Franz of Whittier, North Carolina and Gina Woods of Bentonville, Arkansas; three nephews, Micah Franz, Colin Phillips and Luke Phillips; and two nieces, Allie Phillips and Autumn Woods.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Wilton Wall officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8th before the service.

Donations may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness at www.nami.org.

Leeann Wright

Leeann Wright, 34, of Ashdown died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, in Ashdown.

Mrs. Wright was born Jan. 16, 1975, in Texarkana, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one son, Joe Paul Jones.

Survivors include one daughter, Maggie Kate Jones of Ashdown; her parents, Donald White and Cindy White of Ashdown; one brother and sister-in-law, D.W. and Amanda White of Ashdown; one sister, Jennifer Martin of Ashdown; her grandparents, Paul and Ruth Ringgold of Ashdown, Laveren Ringgold of Nash, Texas, and Thelma White of Waco, Texas; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Ashdown, with the Rev. Butch Riddle officiating. Burial will be in Ashdown Cemetery under direction of Madden Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donreth N. Laird

Donreth N. Laird, age 89, a resident of Germantown, Tennessee, formerly of De Queen, passed away July 31, 2009 in Germantown.

She was born September 28, 1919 in Lockesburg, Arkansas to the late William J "Boss" Nalley and Ruth Little Nalley. She was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church. Donreth retired in 1983 from the Sevier County Social Services where she served as a case worker. After retirement she enjoyed many years of service as a ‘Pink Lady’ with the hospital auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert W "Dub" Laird, and a sister Josephine Stone. Donreth is survived by one daughter, Beverly Davis and husband Jerry of Germantown TN. One grandson Joseph Laird Davis of Germantown TN; a brother William J Nalley, Jr of Grandview, MO and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, August 3rd at 10:00 am at Redmen Cemetery with Virgil Romine officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday August 2nd from 4 to 6 at Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen

Gladys Dail Baker Davis

Mrs. Gladys Dail Baker Davis, age 84, a resident of Wickes, formerly of Umpire, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 in Wickes, Arkansas.

She was born April 27, 1925 in Polk County. She married Russell Davis on November 26, 1949 in Grannis. She was a farmer and a homemaker.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Andrew and Mauda Buchanan Baker; one brother, Perry Baker; and four sisters, Esther Loyd, Ethel Demorest, Joycie McCarley and Ruby McCarley; one nephew, Doyle McCarley and one niece, Ozella Rose.

She is survived by three nephews, John F. Roberson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Vernon Demorest of Springfield, Oregon and Gordon McCarley of Cove, Arkansas; seven nieces, Margie Smith and Fern Walton both of Elkton, Oregon, Georgia Briggs, and Glenda Jones, both of Springfield, Oregon, Jeanette Frazier of Washington State, Faye Walters of Grannis, Arkansas and Darlene Roberts of Wickes.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Davis will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kent Smith, her great-nephew, officiating. Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery.

Lum Benton Wright

Mr. Lum Benton Wright, age 88, a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in Ashdown.

He was born August 14, 1920 in Crossroads, Arkansas.

Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his parents, William Jackson and Arizona Mae Key Wright; his wives, Elma Wright and Liddie Mae Wright; one son, Clyde Wright; one step-son, Steve Cecil, Sr. and one grandson, David Cecil.

He is survived by one step-son, Jackie Cecil of Texarkana, Arkansas; four grandchildren, William Cecil of Texarkana, Arkansas, Steve Cecil of Sherman, Texas, Lonnie Wright of Hot Springs and Marshall Wright of Forest City, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Wright of Maumelle, Arkansas and five great-grandchildren, Collier and Syble Wright, Noah Cecil, Luke Cecil and Johnathon Cecil

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Wright will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2009 in the Pauley Cemetery with Virgil Romine, minister officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 31st at the funeral home in De Queen.

Judith Carol Dove Eudy

Mrs. Judith Carol Dove Eudy, age 59, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Monday, July 27, 2009 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born March 5, 1950 in Dierks. She worked with her husband in their CPA business, and was a member of the Dierks Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Dwayne Eudy on March 8, 2008; her father, James Dove; and a brother, Douglas Dove.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Traci Eudy and Brian and Misti Eudy, all of Dierks; her mother, Earnease Allen of Dierks; three sisters, Debbie Stone, Sharon Kesterson, and Ruthie Wesley all of Dierks; two brothers, Wayne Dove of Nashville, Arkansas and David Lee Allen of Virginia; four grandchildren, Brooke, Brady, Jacob and Jason Eudy and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Eudy will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 30, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sunshine Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29th at the funeral home in Dierks.

The family will be at the home of Brian and Misti Eudy, 1175 Possum Hollow Road in Dierks.

Donations may be made to the Herschel Eudy Scholarship Fund at First State Bank.

Hubert Edward Phillips

Mr. Hubert Edward Phillips, age 88, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born June 22, 1921 in De Queen. He was a member of the De Queen Church of Christ and retired from Weyerhaeuser in Dierks.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents, Sam T. Phillips and Pearl Ann Selman Phillips, six brothers, and his first wife, Edith Phillips on August 21, 1984.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Pell Phillips; one son, Eddie Phillips and wife, Terriann Phillips all of De Queen; one grandson, Cory Phillips and wife Brandi; one granddaughter, Kirra Phillips; three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hannah and Ashlyn; one sister, Mamie Hobbs of Grand Junction, Colorado; step son, John Pell and wife Karen; step daughter, Barbara Martin; three step-grandchildren, Danielle, Kimberly and Shawn; four step-great-grandchildren, Gannon, Braden, Hailey, Courtney, and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Phillips will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2009 in the Church of Christ in De Queen with Van Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Ronald Dean & Donna Faye Belknap

Ronald Dean and Donna Faye Belknap
Ronald Dean “Ronny” Belknap age 59 and Donna Faye Wideman Belknap, age 58, of Cove, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009 in Cove.
Ronny was born December 6, 1949 in Mena, Arkansas to the late Eugene Belknap and the late June Friend Belknap and was a logger by profession. Donna was born August 2, 1950 in Ft. Worth, Texas to the late Wilburn Wideman and the late Betty Smedley Howard. She was a bookkeeper and they were loving parents, grandparents and friends. They will be missed greatly.

They are survived by Son: Robert Belknap and wife Stephanie of Cove, Arkansas Daughter: Tammy Schell and husband Chuck of Mena, Arkansas. Grandchildren: Caleb Belknap, Brittany Belknap-Schell, Miranda Belknap, Kirsten Belknap and Payton Belknap. Ronny’s Brother: Tony Spencer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Donna’s Sisters: Joan Price and husband Steve of Benbrook, Texas Louise Vogensen and husband Dave of Austin, Texas Hope Abshire of Ft. Worth, Texas. Donna’s Brother: David Wideman and wife Darlene of Radcliff, Kentucky. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

They were preceded in death by their parents, and Donna’s sister, Joyce Wideman, Ronny’s sister, Debbie “Hootie” Belknap.

Memorial services will be held Friday, July 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel. with Gary Jewell and David Wideman officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, July 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Verree Willia Tallant Barnhart

Verree Willia Tallant Barnhart, age 83, a resident of Ft Worth, Texas, formerly of De Queen, Arkansas died Monday, July 20, 2009 in Ft. Worth.

She was born September 20, 1925 in De Queen. She was a retired hairdresser for over forty years and was a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy M. Barnhart; and her parents, Henry and Madie Hughes Tallant.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roy M. Jr. and Yun Sun Barnhart of Ft. Worth; two granddaughters and their husbands; Amy Verree and Nick Braswell and Haley Yun and Thomas Dreadin; four great-grandchildren, Ana and Jessica Braswell and Kyley Yun and Colton Ray Dreadin; and one niece.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009 in the Redmen Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
