Tyler Scott Ellzey

Tyler Scott Ellzey, 1, of Rogers, Arkansas, died July 18, 2009, at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born May 5, 2008, in Bentonville, AR, to Mark and Brandi Ellzey.

He is survived by his parents, Mark and Brandi Ellzey of Rogers; two brothers, Hunter and Sean Ellzey; paternal grandfather, Andy Ellzey and wife Debby of Rogers; paternal grandmother Kendra Williamson of DeQueen, AR; maternal grandfather, Charles Fletcher and wife Dannis of Rogers; maternal grandmother, Donna Jump and husband Rex of Colorado. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Rollins Funeral Home.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Ward officiating.

Glendyne Cox Watts

Mrs. Glendyne Cox Watts, age 84, a resident of De Queen, and former Resident of Horatio, died Monday, July 20, 2009 in a local nursing home.
She was born to Willie Clifford and Gladys D. Romine Cox at Horatio, Arkansas, on February 17, 1925. She was a 1943 graduate of Horatio High School, and received a RN degree. She worked as a registered nurse in Shreveport, La., and Hot Springs, until her retirement. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Horatio, and enjoyed flowers and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Adele Swan, and two brothers, Carroll Gene Cox, and Gerald Cox.

She is survived by two sisters, Julia Stanford of Horatio, and Willene Gray of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Glendyne Watts will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in the Horatio Cemetery, with Virgil Romine, minister officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Rufus Minor Owens

Mr. Rufus Minor Owens, age 70, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born March 28, 1939 in Lockesburg. He was a retired engineer for IBM, a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lockesburg.
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents, A. Paul and Margaret Elizabeth Sharp Owens; and two sisters, Beatrice Youngblood and Mary Lou Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Friday Owens of Lockesburg; one daughter, Jill Jamison of Nashville, AR; two sons, Eric Owens and Mark Owens, both of Lockesburg; four sisters, Ruth Hansen of Omaha, Nebraska, Dot Russell of Magnolia, AR, Jane Cheatham of Palestine, TX, and Polly Crisp of Russellville, AR; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Owens will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009 in the First Baptist Church in Lockesburg with Rev. Jack Gilliland and Rev. Tommy Halsell officiating. Burial will follow in the Bellville Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009 at the funeral home.

Jack William Bender

Mr. Jack William Bender, age 63, a resident of Edmond, Oklahoma, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 in Oklahoma City.

He was born February 28, 1946 in Manhattan, NY. He was an auto mechanic instructor at Texarkana College and was a U.S. Navy veteran during Vietnam.

Mr. Bender was preceded in death by his parents, Baxter A. Bender and Mary Gertrude Morgan Bender Oglesby; and a brother, Thomas Bender.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Whisenhunt Bender of Edmond, formerly of Winthrop; three daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Michael Lisenby of Edmond, Adrienne and Randall Schmedthorst of Vance AFB, Enid, OK and Jeanette and Nathan Barlow of Ft. Benning, GA; his grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, and Cade Lisenby, Bradley and Hannah Schmedthorst and Isaac and Avonleigh Barlow; three brothers, George Bender, John Bender, and Roy Bender; two sisters, Trudy Cunningham and Susan Benenati.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bender will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2009 in the Winthrop United Methodist Church with Bro. Jimmy Roden officiating. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16th at the funeral home.

Jena Ree Gabbard Clark

Jena Ree Gabbard Clark, age 42, a resident of Little Rock, AR, formerly of Horatio, AR died Monday, July 13, 2009 in Little Rock.

She was born April 30, 1967 in De Queen, AR. She was a graduate of Henderson State University, was an R.N. at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Horatio.

She is survived by her husband, Tracey Clark of Little Rock; her parents, Talbert L. and Dixie Gabbard of Horatio; one brother, Kenneth Gabbard of De Queen; and one sister, Dena King of Little Rock.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in the Horatio Cemetery with Rev. Fred Smith officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Grace Elizabeth Shute Hill

Mrs. Grace Elizabeth Shute Hill, age 74, a resident of Provo, AR died Friday, July 10, 2009 at her home.

She was born February 28, 1935 in Dierks, AR. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church #1.

She is survived by her husband, David E. Hill; two sons and daughters-in-law, David L. and Susan Hill of Benton, AR and John and Vanessa Hill of Bryant, AR; five grandchildren, Aaron Hill, Carrie Hill, Nathan Hill, Mary Grace Hill, and Clara Beth Hill.

Funeral Services for will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2009 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church #1 with Bro. Larry Fry officiating. Burial will follow in the McHorse Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the funeral home in Dierks.

James Harold White, Jr.

James Harold White, Jr. age 35, a resident of Pine Bluff, Arkansas died Sunday, July 5, 2009 in Pine Bluff.

He was born September 15, 1973 in Danville, Arkansas. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Harold White and one step-brother, Matthew White.

He is survived by his mother, Juanita Moore White of De Queen; one daughter, Faith White; two sons, James Levi White and Casey White of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister, Rachel White and one brother Gregory White both of De Queen; two half-brothers, Jeffery White and Anthony White both of Rover, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

James Edward Gossage

Mr. James Edward Gossage, age 83, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at his home.

He was born January 20, 1926 in Plainview, Arkansas. He was a retired lumber grader for Weyerhaeuser and a World War II Army Veteran.

Mr. Gossage was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Grace Sanders Gossage; two brothers, Sam Gossage and Pat Gossage and two sisters, Inez Allen and Norma Joyce Gossage.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Walker Gossage; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Horacio Andrade, Angela and Poli Nava, Joyce and Randy Grubbs and Shelba and Michael Pipkins, one sister Bonnie Boland, all of Dierks; one brother, Calvin Gossage of Hot Springs, 10 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren.

Graveside Funeral services for Mr. Gossage will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday July 10, 2009 in Dierks Cemetery with Mark Hodges officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday July9th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Daisy Marie Cravens Cabean

Mrs. Daisy Marie Cravens Cabean, age 100, a resident of Lockesburg, Ark., died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in a local hospital.
She was born to Oscar and Mary Turrentine Cravens at Lockesburg, Arkansas, on November 27, 1908. She was a retired Deaconess in the United Methodist Church, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church of Lockesburg, and enjoyed sewing, flowers, gardening, fishing, and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rev. A. C. Cabean, three brothers, Herman Cravens, Carl Augusta Cravens, and Lester Henry Cravens, two sisters, Ruth Elizabeth Wright, and Esther Cravens Sampson.

She is survived by two brothers, John Wesley Cravens and Oscar Cravens, Jr. both of Lockesburg, one sister, Melba Cravens Taylor of Caruthersville, Missouri, and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as other family members.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Daisy M. Cabean will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2009, in the Macedonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Halsall officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Cemetery, Lockesburg, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and there will be viewing at the Macedonia United Methodist Church from 12:00 p.m. until service time, on Saturday.

Gracie G. Sharp

Mrs. Gracie G. Sharp, age 93, of Dierks, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 in the Dierks Health and Rehab Center.

She was born June 20, 1916 in Howard County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dierks Assembly of God.

Mrs. Sharp was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Abby Hughes; her husbands, James Murphy and Robert Sharp; one son, William Murphy and one grandson, Robert Dale Carroll.

She is survived by four daughters, Velron Young of New Hope, Arkansas, Robbie Carr of Whitesboro, Texas, Ruby Rohrbaugh of Dierks and Francis Jones of Angleton, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Sharp of Umpire; one brother, Frank Hughes of Mineral Springs and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Sharp will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Pastor Jerry Shinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Greens Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Frank Worthey

Mr. Herman Franklin “Frank” Worthey, age 76, a resident of De Queen, died, Sunday, July 05, 2009, in the St. Joseph’s Mercy Medical Center, Hot Springs, Ark.
He was born to Herman W. and LaVegie Willis Worthey at Blevins, Arkansas, on July 24, 1932. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U. S. Marines. He was a retired employee of Pilgrim’s Pride, where he served as Manager of live haul. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of De Queen, and enjoyed gospel singing, and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Shawn Worthey.

He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Peggy Watson Worthey of De Queen, one son, Mike Worthey of Queen City, Texas, one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tim Langlois of De Queen, five grandchildren, Chuck, Ashley, Keiton, Jake, and Kaleigh, a great-grandchild, Emma, a brother, James Worthey of Texarkana, Ark.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lura Jean and Dale Willis of Hope, Ark.; Sybil Poole of Hope, Ark.; Vonda and Bob Moore of Perrytown, Ark.; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services for Mr. Frank Worthey will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in the Holly Grove Methodist Church, near Blevins, Ark. with Rev. Charles Hawley and Rev. George Wormington officiating. Burial will follow at the Holly Grove Cemetery near Blevins, Ark. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, July 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
