Luther Eugene Pannell

Mr. Luther Eugene Pannell, age 84, a resident of Horatio, died Monday, December 21, 2009 in the De Queen Medical Center.
He was born February 2, 1925 in Horatio. He was a retired mechanic for Red River Army Depot.
Mr. Pannell was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Peck Pannell and a number of brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife Juanita Tollett Pannell of Horatio; two sons, Richard Pannell of Lockesburg and Luther “Sandy” Pannell of De Queen; one daughter, Connie Marie Pannell of Horatio, a number of brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Pannell will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 24, 2009 in the Clear Creek Cemetery with Bro. Ralph Staggs officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 23rd at the funeral home.

Mr. James Cook

Mr. James C. Cook, age 84, a resident of Cleveland, Texas, died on Monday, December 21, 2009, at his home.

he was born to Daniel C. and Nettie Mae Cook on February 2, 1925 at Beeville, Texas. He was retired owner of J.C. Cook Construction Company and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Porter, Texas, where he served as trustee. he was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings, and one grandson, Justin Stricker. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nila Faye Lumpkin Cook of Cleveland, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law: James Alvis and Leona cook of Grandbury, Texas and Ronnie and Bernice Cook of Batesville, AR; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Bruce Rusling of Cleveland, TX; six grandchildren: Mark cook, Buck Cook, Misty Stricker, Amy Disney, Casey Kinison, and James Kyle Rusling; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Roscoe Cook of Estancia, NM; one sister, Naomi Petross of Conroe, TX; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 23 at the Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services for Mr. James Cook are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen and will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 24th in the Baker Cemetery, Wickes, AR.

Joyce Ann Hyman

Mrs. Joyce Ann Hyman, age 56, a resident of Dierks, died Monday, December 21, 2009 in the Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born November 12, 1953 in Williams, Arizona. She was a homemaker and Baptist.

Mrs. Hyman was preceded in death by her father, Allen Thompson; one daughter, Beth Plowman and one brother, Charles Thompson.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick Hyman of Dierks; three sons, Chuck Plowman and Clinton Green both of Dierks and Brandon Green of Waldron; two daughters, Jamie Qualls of Waldron and Kim Barbre of Dierks; her mother, Edith Thompson of Waldron; two sisters, Edna Stanford of Sulpher Springs, Texas and Sue Thompson of Wickes; 13 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hyman will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 24, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 23rd at the funeral home in Dierks.

Roger Dale Peugh

Mr. Roger Dale Peugh, age 62, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 in the V. A. Hospital, Little Rock.

He was born to Earl and Margarie Kirkpatrick Peugh at Ft. Smith, Arkansas, on December 18, 1947. He was a veteran of the Vietname War, having served with the U. S. Air Force, and was an industrial electrician. He was a member of the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church, and enjoyed music, gardening, and working with his hands.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Peugh.

He is survived by his wife of over 36 years, Beverly Stewart Peugh of De Queen, three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Dianne Peugh of Chattanooga, Tenn, Jason Peugh and his friend, Jackie of Tampa, Fla., and Lonnie and Jill Peugh of Dallas, Texas, two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Tony Thornton of De Queen, and Kristie and Lamar Mullins of Dallas, Texas, his mother and step-father, Margie and John Plunkett of Greenwood, Ark., one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Madge Peugh of Greenwood, Ark.; one sister, Linda Bowens of De Queen, five grandchildren, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his church family.

Funeral Services for Mr. Roger Peugh are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2009 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Dan Kaffenburger officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Beacon Hill Cemetery, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Doyle Gene Ruth

Mr. Doyle Gene Ruth, 54, of Dierks, Arkansas left this earth Saturday, December 19, 2009 in Christus St. Michael’s Hospital in Texarkana, Texas after a brief battle with lung cancer.

Mr. Ruth was born September 25, 1955 in De Queen, Arkansas. He was a skidder operator for 35 years of his life and he was also employed as the projectionist for the De Queen Drive-In Theater for many years prior to its closing and eventual demolition. He also taught taekwondo for many years during the 80’s and 90’s after earning a black belt in 1982.

Mr. Ruth was preceded in death by his mother, Vanetta Davis Ruth. Doyle leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Relinda Bearden Ruth of Dierks; two daughters and one son-in-law, Amanda and Daniel Cogburn and Lerinda Ruth of Dierks; one son, Chesli Jackson of Russellville, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Blake and Jarod Cogburn; father and stepmother, Henry and Reba Ruth of Lockesburg; two brothers, Melvin Ruth of Horatio, Arkansas and Vernon Ruth of Gillham, Arkansas; one stepbrother, Kenneth”David” Roberts of Spokane, Washington; one stepsister, Darlene Davis of Cove, Arkansas and a number of relatives and special friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ruth will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rocky Bearden officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, December 21st at the funeral home in De Queen.

O. Dwayne Preuett

O. Dwayne Preuett, age 69 of Mt. Juliet, TN died December 16, 2009.

Mr. Preuett was a member of the Church of Christ. He was an employee of Channel 5 for 29 years. After his retirement from Channel 5, he worked for Tractor Supply Company. Mr. Preuett enjoyed growing day lilies. He was the son of the late, Cecil Manning Preuett and Beulah Erma Bayless Preuett.

He is survived by: Wife Wanda Fay Preuett Daughters – Sharon (Andrew) Queener Treva (Darrell) Rice Brother – Roy Ladon (Carol Sue) Preuett Grandchildren – Amber, Devon, Blake, Jessica and Aleecia Great-grandchildren – Destiny and Ryleigh.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Tim Lavender officiating. Interment will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2009 at Pauley Cemetery in Winthrop, AR under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas. Donna J. Dinwiddie

Donna J. Dinwiddie, age 41, a resident of Ten Sleep, Wyoming, and former resident of De Queen, died Friday, December 11th in Worland, Wyoming.
She was born to Ronnie and Carol Stark Dinwiddie at De Queen, Arkansas, on April 12, 1968. She was a 1986 graduate of De Queen High School, and was in Designing and Sales of Seed Catalog Company in Wyoming. She was a Methodist and enjoyed horses, and loved Wyoming.

She is survived by one daughter, Kayla Ramburg of Pensacola, Fla., her parents, Ronnie and Carol Dinwiddie of De Queen, one sister and brother-in-law, Rachell and Tracy Runnels of De Queen, one nephew, Konner Dinwiddie, three nieces, Kinlee and Madison Runnels, and Kasey Dinwiddie all of De Queen, her maternal grandmother, Hazel Stark of De Queen. Cremation was in Wymoning. Memorial Services for Donna Dinwiddie are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home and will be held on Monday, December 21st in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. J. Carlton officiating.

Ronald Keith Stephens

Ronald Keith Stephens, age 56, a resident of Dierks, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at his home.

He was born November 27, 1953 in Texarkana, Texas. He was a millwright for Weyerhaeuser, a member of the Oak Hill Lodge in Dierks and a Baptist.

Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his parents, James "J.C." Clayton and Sue McClure Stephens Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Barentine Stephens of Dierks; one daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Dustin Brymer of Kirby; one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Lesia Stephens of De Queen; one brother, Bruce Stephens of Dierks; two sisters, Glenda Shelton of Dierks and Teresa Stephens of Conway; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Stephens will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Mt. Joy Cemetery with Raymond Dees officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 5th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Robert Jegstrup

Mr. Robert Jegstrup, age 73, a resident of Dallas, TX, formerly of Provo, died Monday, March 1, 2010 in Dallas.

He was born to Harold and Zena Jegstrup June 11, 1936 and served in the Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Melba; one son Robbie of Cedar Hills, TX; two daughters: Ann Jegstrup of Dallas and Kay Davis of Terrell, TX; one sister, Betty Lou Jewell of Ashdown; and two brothers: Guy Jegstrup of Houston, TX and Floyd Jegstrup of Lockesburg.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010, 1:00 pm at the Old Time Gospel Church south of Lockesburg with Bro. Gerald Helms officiating.
