Bobby Lynn Roberts

Bobby Lynn Roberts, age 55, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

He was born December 22, 1954 in El Paso, Texas. He was a horse trainer and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his mother, Ernestine Pate and one sister, Anita Pate.

He is survived by his father, Millford G. Roberts and step-mom, Sandra Roberts of Camas, Washington; his children, Bobi Chanti Roberts and Terry Lynn Roberts both of Texas, Ricki Roberts of Lockesburg, Jesse Roberts of Camas, Washington and Katie Lois Parker of Portland, Oregon; his step-children, Senta Anderson and Mistie Dawson both of Texas, James Roberts, Kenny Roberts and Cody Roberts all of Washington; two brothers, Butch Roberts of Horatio and Bruce Pate of Dierks; one sister, Debbie Smith of Newhope, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Roberts will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in the Dierks Cemetery with Greg Revels (who ministered to Bobby when he was in De Queen) officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, July 12th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Stanley Phillip McMickle

Stanley Phillip McMickle, age 43, a resident of Murfreesboro, Arkansas died Thursday, July 8, 2010 in the Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville, Arkansas.

He was born March 4, 1967 in Dermott, Arkansas. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edison and Bernice Inez McMickle and two brothers, Larry and Ray McMickle.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Lee Carter McMickle; two step children, Charlie Carter of Nashville, AR and Jackie Carter Lingelbach of Hot Springs, AR; eight brothers, Jessie McMickle of Washington DC, Milton McMickle of Turlock, CA, Clifton McMickle of Pine Bluff, AR, David McMickle of Dermott, AR, Steven McMickle of Oak Harbor, WA, Marshall McMickle and Brian McMickle both of Charleston, SC and Kenneth McMickle of Dermott, AR; four sisters, Mary Jo Black of Pine Bluff, AR, Gloria Pennington of Murfreesboro, AR, Barbara Ivy of Pine Bluff and Susan Hendren of Gentry, AR.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, AR with Troy Carroll and Larry Hendren officiating.

Dorothy Dean "Dottie" Turner Phillips

Mrs. Dorothy Dean "Dottie" Turner Phillips, age 82, a resident of Little River Club near Winthrop, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 in the Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born December 15, 1927 in Childress, Texas. She was a payroll clerk for Western Electric and a homemaker.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma Turner, her husband, James Harold "Jim" Phillips and two brothers, Pete and Buddy Turner.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in law, Tex and Sharon Phillips of Little River Club, AR, Cody and Annette Phillips of Horatio, AR and Jay Phillips of Horatio, AR; one daughter and son-in-law L'Jon and Dennis Hill of Selma, Alabama; her sister, Sandra Turner of Little River Club; seven grandchildren, Sharla Varner, Dustin Hill, Jessica Cody Phillips, Michelle Woods, Jay Phillips, Mandy Phillips and Kelly Strain; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Phillips will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Horatio Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Horatio Fire Department or the charity of your choice.

John Bair Nimmons

Mr. John Bair Nimmons, age 88, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, in the Brookwood Nursing & Rehab.

He was born to Wells Freeling and Inez Bair Nimmons at Lincoln, Kansas, on November 5, 1921. He was a veteran of World War II, and was a retired salesman. He was a member of the Elks Club, and a lifetime member of VFW. He enjoyed traveling, and had visited all the continental United States except Maine and New Hampshire.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Ruth Rich.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Laura Lee Hudson Nimmons of De Queen, two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Roger “Bill” Nimmons of De Queen, and John J. and Gloria Nimmons of Stratford, Calif., one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Charles Lee of De Queen, four grandchildren, John Brandon Nimmons of Stratford, Ca, Laura Crowell of Nashville, Amanda Sisoukrath of Alexandra, Ark. and David Lee of Fayetteville, Ark.; and four great-grandchildren.

Cremation is entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of Charles and Sandy Lee, 189 Lee Lane, De Queen, on Friday, July 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Stanley Brian Dailey

Mr. Stanley Brian Dailey, age 57, a resident of Texarkana, Texas died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at his home.

He was born December 3, 1952 in Dallas, Texas. He was a Hydrocarbon engineer for Geosite Corp, a U.S. Army veteran of Desert Storm and a born again Christian.

Mr. Dailey was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Lee Dailey and his twin sister, Starla Dene.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Reid Dailey of Texarkana; one son, Daniel Dailey of Sayre, Oklahoma; three daughters, Julie Ann Dailey, Sarah Beth Dailey and Dr. Stacey Hendershott, all of Texarkana, Texas; his mother, Nellie Ruth Rogers Dailey of Parsons, Kansas; five brothers, Dale Dailey of Texarkana, Don Dailey of Parsons, Kansas and Tom Dailey of De Queen; Mike Dailey and Bernard Robinson both of Dallas, Texas; three half-sisters, Linda Shaw, Barbara Sparks and Vicky Clifton all of Dallas; one grandson, Trevor Hendershott; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Dailey will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 10, 2010 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Scott Neathery officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery.

Billie Juanita Stone Gordon

Mrs. Billie Juanita Stone Gordon, age 76, a resident of Lockesburg, died Friday, July 02, 2010, at her home.

She was born to William Trent and Annie Mae Liggin Stone at De Queen, Arkansas, on February 3, 1934. She was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed painting, writing poetry, fishing, and playing the organ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Philip Gordon, Sr., a daughter-in-law, Tava Gordon and a brother Travis Stone, and a great-grandson, P. J. Smith.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Philip C. Gordon, Jr. of Lockesburg, Donald ray and Peggy Gordon of Bryan, Texas, Paul Trent and Yvonne Gordon of Pittsburg, Texas, and Billy Jonathan Gordon of Lockesburg, a daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Glen Rogers of San Antonio, Texas, six grandchildren, Sissy Golden, Anna Wray, Rose Dean, Ray Gordon, Steven Richardson, and Ronnie Scarbrough, and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Billie Gordon are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 5th in the Old Missionary Baptist Church, Lockesburg, with Bro. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery.

Doyle Jack Moore

Mr. Doyle Jack Moore, age 85, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Thursday, July 1, 2010 in Dierks Health and Rehab.

He was born July 19, 1924 in Newhope, Arkansas. He was a truck driver for Weyerhaeuser; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Dierks Methodist Church.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Janie Lowery Moore; seven brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Earnestine McAlister Moore of Dierks; a special friend, Shawn Kirkpatrick of Athens, Arkansas and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Moore will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 3, 2010 in the Dierks Cemetery with Dany Partlow officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 2, 2010 at the funeral home in Dierks.

Memorials may be made to the Dierks Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 117, Dierks, AR 71833 or a charity of your choice.

Sandra Louise Slade Williams
Sandra Louise Slade Williams, age 52, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at her home. She was born January 5, 1958 in Poplarville, Mississippi. She was a member of the Grannis Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Williams; one sister, Sheila McDaniels and her father, Tommy Terrell.

She is survived by her mother, Marie Terrell of De Queen; her children, Marissa Hinagar, Michael Hinagar and Jessica Hinagar all of Nashville, Tennessee; two sisters, Mary Kay Terrell of De Queen and Cindy Forman of Springfield, Oregon; one brother, John Terrell of De Queen; and 13 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 in the Grace Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating.

William Lee “Bill” Moreland

Mr. William Lee “Bill” Moreland, age 88, a resident of Ashdown, and former resident of De Queen, Ark. died Sunday in Ashdown.

He was born to Tom and Florence Moreland on May 12, 1922 at Lumber City, Georgia. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Army. Bill was retired from Campbell’s Soup Company at Chicago, Ill. He attended the Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ in De Queen, and was a former employee of Ricky’s Body Shop. He enjoyed volunteering for the De Queen Medical Center Auxiliary, and going to church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elease Marie Divine Moreland in March of 1992, and a grandchild, Vivica Moreland, and his siblings, Eddie Joe Moreland, Jasper Moreland, and Margaret Alice Moreland.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh and Yvonne Moreland of Ashdown, William David and Rhonda Moreland of Compton, Calif.; two daughters; Barbara Ann Moreland of Horatio, Ark., and Deborah Williams of Ashdown, Ark.; Eight grandchildren, Aja Denee Moreland, Enchantra Reed, Tana Moreland, William David Moreland, Jr., Davina Moreland, Aaron Moreland, Shannon R. Moreland, and Marlon Boyles; fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, Doris, Dorthy, and Geneva Moreland, as well as other family members.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bill Moreland are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 5th in the Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ, De Queen with Rev. E. A. Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Acres Cemetery, Horatio. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 4th.
