Claryce Geneva Burney Wall
Mrs. Claryce Geneva Burney Wall, age 77, a resident of Cerro Gordo, OK died Saturday, October 30, 2010 in Texarkana, TX.
She was born February 18, 1933 in Cerro Gordo. She was a school teacher, a member of the DAR, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Retired Teachers Assn’s in both Oklahoma and Arkansas, and attended State Line Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Clem Wall in 1994; her parents, Otho Lee and Ida Mae Wineinger Burney; and a brother, Paul Burney.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Gayla Wall of Idabel, OK and Chris and Renee Wall of Bentonville, AR; one daughter and son-in-law, Chana and Scott Brown of Coalgate, OK; her grandchildren, Brian Wall, Brandon Wall, Gillian Wall, Tyler Brown, Trevor Brown and Denim Brown; her in-laws, Layvonne Burney, Margaret Wall and Marvin and Frances Wall; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wall will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in the State Line Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo with Virgil Romine, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery
under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.
Austin Paul Rogers
Mr. Austin Paul Rogers, age 87, a resident of Winthrop, Ark., died Monday, October 25th at his residence.
He was born to Isaac Baxter and Richie E. Sampson Rogers at Arkinda, Arkansas, on September 16, 1923. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the U. S. Army. He was a retired building contractor, and loved music, playing the mandolin and guitar. He attended the Assembly of God Church, and enjoyed outdoors, hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Clyde, Claude, Mack, and Boone Rogers; five sisters, Dora McClinton, Ellen Crawford, Fannie Rogers, Emma Boyer, and Valentine Lisenby. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Vickie Rogers of Texarkana, a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Larry Potts of De Queen, two grandchildren and their spouses, Diana and Jacob Collins of Queen City, Texas, Talisha and Dr. Chris Hunt of Rochester, Minnesota, two great-grandchildren, James and Charlotte Hunt of Rochester, Minn.; a sister, Ann Rogers of Ashdown, Ark. and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Funeral Services for Mr. Paul Rogers are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 28th with Rev. Shad McDonald officiating. Burial with 
military rites will follow in the Strawn Cemetery, Winthrop, Ark. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27th.
L.G. Combs
Mr. L.G. Combs, age 84, a resident of De Queen, AR died Sunday, October 24, 2010 in the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born January 3, 1926 in De Queen.
Mr. Combs was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Combs.
He is survived by two sons, James Combs of Austin, Texas and Ronnie Combs of Idabel, Oklahoma; three daughters, Carolyn Combs also of Austin, Janice Combs of De Queen and Crystal Combs of Texarkana, Arkansas; one sister, Zona Mae Vance of Lockesburg; and a number of grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Combs will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010 in the Old Center Cemetery
with Bro. Sam Hendricks officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Charles Barnes
Mr. Charles Barnes, age 72, a resident of Austin, Texas, died Sunday, October 24th at the home of his son in Chalk Buff, Texas.
He was born to Richard H. and Willie Mae Cox Barnes, at De Queen, Arkansas, on February 21, 1938. He attended De Queen schools, and graduated from De Queen High School in 1956. Charles was an entrepreneur and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and singing. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Geneva Barnes, and his second wife, Janice Barnes.
He is survived by his wife, Samye Hill Barnes of Austin, Texas, a daughter and son-in-law, Kenita and Richard Fendley of Cut-n-Shoot, Texas, four sons and daughters-in-law, Loyd and Patsy Barnes of Dale, Texas, Mark Barnes of Austin, Texas, Matthew and Robyn Barnes of Chalk Bluff, Texas, and Jonathan Barnes of Kennedy, Texas, a step-daughter, Pamela, and her husband, Daniel Spiegel of Austin, Texas, four brothers, Gary Barnes, Kenneth Barnes and Royal Barnes all of Hollister, Calif., and Richard Barnes of Marion, Oregon, six sisters, Nelda Saucedo of Waco, Texas, Nola Honeycutt of Longview, Texas, Jerri Lynn Hall of Littleton, Col., Jenny Lou House of De Queen, Ark.; and Kathy Barnes and Diane Barnes both of Hollister, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews as well as other family members and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Charles Barnes are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27th in the New Bethel Cemetery, De Queen, Ark. with Bro. Richard Findley officiating. Memorials may be made to the Christian Motorcycle Association or Gideon’s International.
Lorene Hadley
Mrs. Lorene Hadley, age 95, a resident of Eagletown, Oklahoma, Passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Memorial Heights Center in Idabel, Oklahoma.
She was born May 24, 1915 in Wright City, Oklahoma to William Thomas and Roxie Mae (Elliott) Scroggins.
Lorene lived most of her life in Eagletown and was affiliated with the Eagletown Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, enjoyed quilting, fishing, taking trips and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed word search puzzles, sight seeing and watching Days of Our Lives everyday at noon for over fifty years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred Hadley on September 28, 1988; step-son, Donald Hadley; grandson, Jeffery Coleman; three sisters, Lona Williams, Dessie Sprague and Katherine Black; two brothers, Port Thomas and Stanley Scroggins and a son-in-law, James Coleman.
Lorene is survived by one daughter, Ona Mae Coleman of Idabel; two grandsons, Greg Coleman and Tracy Hadley of Eagletown; five great grandchildren, Kelly Anderson, Cacey (Coleman) Tubbs, Hollie (Coleman) Burns, Jared Lyons and Gracie Hadley; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Edna Gregg and a step-daughter-in-law, Gloria Hadley.

Lou Ann Vincent
Mrs. Lou Ann Pettigrew Vincent, age 38, a resident of Horatio, died Thursday, Oct. 21st in the LSU Medical Center, Shreveport.
She was born to Luther Edward and Mary Suggs Pettigrew at De Queen, Arkansas, on February 8, 1972. She was a graduate of Horatio High School, and was an employee of the Todd Dossett chipping in Minden, La. as well as a homemaker. she enjoyed computers, working, and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her father, and a sister, Pauline Vincent.
She is survived by her husband of over 19 years, Daniel Vincent of Horatio, a daughter, Jennifer Vincent of Horatio, her mother Mary Pettigrew of Horatio, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Cathy Plunk of Broken Bow, Okla., Carl and Kelly Plunk of Horatio, and Oscar Pettigrew of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Robert Brizendine of Broken Bow, Okla. Connie and Terrell Strong of Horatio, and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Coleman Dean Oglesby
Mr. Coleman Dean Oglesby, age 82, a resident of Foreman, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in the Dierks Health and Rehab Center.
He was born October 27, 1927 in Arkinda, Arkansas. He was a pulpwood hauler and a World War II Army veteran.
Mr. Oglesby was preceded in death by his parents, R.L. and Iona Cooper Oglesby and his wife Jennie Frances Oglesby.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William Dean and Mary Ann Oglesby of Visalia, California; four grandchildren, Tracy, Stephanie, Erica and Shawn and six great-grandchildren, Julian, Raquel, Isabella, Talyan, Emma and Katlyn.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Oglesby will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2010 in the Piney Cemetery

Lonnie Matthews
Lonnie Matthews, age 98, of Athens, passed away, Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at the Dierks Health and Rehab in Dierks.
He was born on February 12, 1912, in Sims, to Mont Ville Washington Matthews and Mary Belle Howard Matthews. He was a longtime resident of North Howard County.
Lonnie was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He served in Germany, Belgium and France. He was drafted on April 5, 1944, and received an honorable discharge on May 16, 1946. He was a PFC of Company C of the 28th Division, 110th Infantry. Lonnie was trained as a rifleman, tank destroyer and ammunition bearer. He fought in the battles of the Central European Theater, Ardennes Forest, Rhineland and was a replacement for Battle of the Bulge. He received three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon and Army of Occupation Ribbon (Germany). Lonnie was the oldest WWII veteran remaining in Howard County.
Lonnie was a retired farmer, cattleman and school bus driver.
On January 21, 1934, Lonnie married Winnie Mae House. Lonnie and Winnie celebrated 73 years of marriage together, prior to her preceding him in death on December 14, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and five sisters, Stella Pollock, Iva Plyler, Lorene Pichon, Zora Pinkerton and Ola Matthews.
Lonnie is survived by his twin daughters, Verdene Lingo and her husband, Jerry, and Merlene Golden and her husband, Junior, all of Athens; two granddaughters, Cheri Flemens and her husband, Bruce, of Athens and Stephanie Strasner and her husband, Michael, of Dierks; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Aylett and her husband, Wes, Devin Flemens, Tyler Strasner, Brady Strasner and Allison Strasner; one great-great-granddaughter, Adalie Aylett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 22, 2010, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Dale Crawford, Bro. Scott Kitchens, Rev. Doyle House and Bro. Kenny Fant officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Bissell Chapel Cemetery
under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be Devin Flemens, Tyler Strasner, Randy House, Troy House, Larry House, Von Pate, Ronnie Pate and Royce Pate.
Charles Vernon Gaddis
Charles Vernon Gaddis, 97, of Dierks, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at a Dierks nursing home. he was born April 10, 1913, at Dierks, AR, the son of the late Charles Marion and Jenny Walters Gaddis.
He was a Baptist and a retired logger.
Mr. Gaddis was preceded in death by his wife, Linnie Maude Gaddis, two grandsons, Christopher Fox and Richard Berry.
He is survived by Ernie BerrY and husband, Bruce, of Dolores, CO, and their three children, Lisa Berry of Murfreesboro, AR, Charles Berry of Dolores, CO and Perry Berry of Page, AZ; Kenneth Gaddis and wife, Carolyn of Sheridan, AR; and their three children; Travis Gaddis of Kansas City, KS, Justin Gaddis of Fairplay, CO and Wesley Gaddis of Dolores, CO; Eleanor Fox and husband, Charles of Cortez, CO, and their two children, Ray Fox of Cortez, CO and Vanessa Hamer of Durango, CO; Deborah Reel and husband, Charlie of Dierks, AR, and their two children, Chuck Reel of Murfreesboro, AR and LeAnn Reel of Dierks, AR; two sisters, Ina Call of Clovis, NM and Elaine Cooper of Sulpulpa, OK; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a number of nephews and nieces; a number of special friends and caretakers; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at Fellowship Church on Tuesday, October 19, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Fellowship Cemetery
with Bros. Bobby Neal and Gary Welch officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral home.
