Margaret Blanche Johnson Clements

Margaret Blanche Johnson Clements stepped into the warm embrace of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Wednesday morning June 8, 2011.

Margaret was born on May 18, 1925 to Willie Elizabeth (Hulsey) and Jefferson Franklin Johnson and was given the name Margaret by her proud brother Jefferson Franklin Johnson, Jr. “Frank”. The Johnsons were a strong Christian family and Margaret accepted Jesus as her personal Savior when she was a teenager.

Margaret graduated from De Queen High School as valedictorian of her class. After graduation many of her male classmates joined the armed service during World War II, Margaret headed to Phoenix, AZ to work in the Defense Plant and do her share toward the war effort. She returned to De Queen before the end of the war. After the Allies defeated the Axis powers, Margaret attended a welcome home party at the Country Club for the returning service men. That night changed her life forever. She was reintroduced to Enon Willice "Buster" Clements, and the two were married on May 18, 1946 – Margaret’s 21st birthday.

The couple had four daughters and passed on their love of Christ to each of them. The Clements were instrumental in formation of at least two Christian Church congregations – First Christian Church in Naperville, IL and Hot Springs Christian Church in Hot Springs, AR. When Margaret and one other lady were the only ones to attend an organizational meeting for the Naperville church, the minister stated that they needed to forget about it. Margaret told him to just tell them what they needed to do and God would make it work. That church that started with just two families, now has a regular attendance of around 2, 000. Margaret instilled that same "God can do" spirit in each of her daughters. She remained active in the church and was a member of New Life Christian Church in Hot Springs.

Margaret now joins her husband Enon Clements, her parents Willie and Jeff Johnson, her brother Frank, and her second born daughter Regina Faye Clements McKinney singing praises before the Throne of Grace. She is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Sandra Lea and James Garland Hardage, Brenda Sue and Gary Neal Magee, and Marcia Ann Clements; 8 grand-children, and 11 great-grandchildren in addition to one brother-in-law, one step-brother, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. She will be missed by countless friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Van Ledbetter, Doug Votaw and Larry Lekwa officiating. Burial will follow at the Avon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy McKinney, Paul McKinney, Matthew Hardage, Adam Magee, Chad Huett, and Rance Wooldridge. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her memory to The Caring Place, Arkansas Alzheimer’s Association, or your local church
