A.J. Mills

A.J. Mills, age 82, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, March 06, 2011 in the Wadley Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born March 2, 1929 in Rufe, Oklahoma to Abe Jacob Mills and Katie Francis Kight Mills-Chase.

He was employed at Weyerhaeuser Treating Plant until his retirement and was a Baptist.

He loved rodeos, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ethel Lene Tucker Mills; grandson, Joe Bob Mills and a number of brothers and sisters.

He is survived by three sons, Arthur James Mills and wife Diana, Carl Eugene Mills and wife Carolyn, all of Corsicana, Texas, Melvin Curtis Mills and wife Sheri of Salem, Oregon; two daughters, Sherrilene Fay Wynne and husband Perry of Salina Oklahoma and Pamela Kay Sumler and husband Duane of Nashville, Arkansas; one sister, Pauline Woods of Poteau, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Mills will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011 in the Oak Grove Cemetery in De Queen with Bro. Charles Ligon officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Judy Fonda Lyle Martin
Mrs. Judy Fonda Lyle Martin, age 57, a resident of Grannis, died Monday, March 07, 2011, at her home after a long battle with cancer.

She was born to Jimmie Joe and Joyce Omega Mayo Lyle at Scotia, California, on May 5, 1953. She was former owner of Cutting Loose and Looking Good, former co-owner of Martin’s Quick Stop, and Martin’s Ice Company, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Wickes Pentecostal Church of God, a member of the Polk County Election Commission, where she served as Marshall, and vice president of the Gillham High School Alumni. She enjoyed Avon Collectables, collecting antique tins, gardening, butterflies, angels, and was a wonderful cook. She was a devoted wife and mother, and absolutely adored her grandchildren.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Randall Martin of Grannis, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy Martin of Grannis, and Jess and Olivia Martin of Malvern, Ark.; two grandchildren, Carter and Ethan Martin both of Malvern; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet Walker of Grannis, Bonita and Earl Flint, Jr., and Rhonda and Terry Paul Holman both of Wickes, and Dena and Cesar Rodriguez of Grannis, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Judy Martin will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 9th in the Wickes Pentecostal Church of God with Bro. Chris Burke, Bro. Homer Frachiseur, and Bro. James Squires officiating. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Rev. J.L. Walker

Rev. J.L. Walker, age 86, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, March 7, 2011 at his home.

He was born October 4, 1924 in Ganns, Oklahoma. He was retired from the Sevier County Road Department and was the pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Horatio for 55 years.

Rev. Walker was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Anna Norton Walker; and his first wife, Thelma Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Irma Young Walters Walker of De Queen; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Donna Walker of Richlands, Virginia, Donnie Ray and Mildred Walker of Horatio, Arkansas, Rickie Walker of Lockesburg and Rufus and Vanessa Walker of Lonoke, Arkansas; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Debbie and Tim Brotherton of De Queen, Judy and Jim Wilson of Rayne, Louisiana, Kelley and Tony Johnson of De Queen, Stephanie Stokes of Rowlett, Texas, Emily and Howard Covington of De Queen and Sandra and Chuck Zebrowski of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; one brother, Carl Walker of Modesto, California; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Rev. J.L. Walker will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in the De Queen Assembly of God Church with Rev. Bobby Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Horatio Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8th at the funeral home.

Deborah Ann Whisenhunt Bailey

Mrs. Deborah Ann Whisenhunt Bailey, age 57, a resident of Wickes, Arkansas, died Sunday, March 6th at her home.

She was born to Harvey Don and Peggy Jo Brinkley Whisenhunt at De Queen, Arkansas, on February 18, 1954. She was a graduate of Gillham High School, and was an employee of the Wickes School System, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wickes, and enjoyed riding horses, and 4-wheelers, yard work, gardening, fishing and camping, and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Pam Smith.

She is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Buck Bailey, two sons, Brandon Bailey and Charli Roberts of Cove, Arkansas, and Tanner Bailey of Wickes, Arkansas; three daughters, Janelle and her husband, Todd Howell of Cove, Kim Bailey of Wickes, and Brittany Bailey, and her fiancé, Jeff Davis of Mena, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Brandi, Brooke, Kody, Brody, and Jakob, one brother and sister-in-law, Michael Don and Gina Whisenhunt of Gillham, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, March 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Debbie Bailey will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8th in the Mineral Cemetery, Gillham, with Bro. Scott Ray officiating.

J.B. Phillips
J.B. Phillips, age 85, a resident of Texarkana, TX died Friday, March 4, 2011 in Texarkana.

He was born March 31, 1925 in De Queen, AR. He was a welder and pipefitter, an avid gardener, served in the U.S. Army and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ruby Little Phillips and a brother, Pete Phillips.

He is survived by one son, Jerry Bob Phillips of Pryor, OK; two daughters, Brenda Wilson of Texarkana, TX and Sharon Kaye Phillips of Wisconsin; two sisters, Louise Clemens of Nashville, AR and Helen McRae of De Queen; one grandson, Jeremy Wilson of Texarkana, TX and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Van Ledbetter, minister officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Levi Alan Simmons

Levi Alan Simmons, age 30, a resident of Texarkana, AR died Thursday, March 3, 2011 in Texarkana.

He was born February 15, 1981 in De Queen, AR. He was employed by Paradise Cycles and was a Christian.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Zoey Aryann Simmons; grandfathers, Gordon Cannon and C.O. Simmons, and an uncle, Gordon Cannon II.

He is survived by one son, Tristan Simmons of Texarkana, AR; his parents, Kim and Terry Siebert of Texarkana; his father, James Alan Simmons of Lockesburg, AR; grandmothers, Pat Cannon of Texarkana, AR; Pat Seibert of Shepherd, TX and Bobbie Simmons of Lockesburg; two sisters, Crystal Curtis of Dierks, AR and Lisa Simmons of Lockesburg; one niece, three nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Simmons will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 in the Old Union Cemetery with Bro. Rob Mularski officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the funeral home.

Ignacio "Nacho" Camarillo
Ignacio Camarillo, affectionately called “Nacho” age 33, a resident of Little Rock, Arkansas, and former resident of De Queen, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, from injuries received in a construction accident in Little Rock.

He was born to Jose Luz and Tomasa Luna Camarillo in Valle Hermosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico on May 12, 1977. He was a graduate from De Queen High School, and was working from Cornerstone Construction in Little Rock. He enjoyed football, especially the New Orleans Saints, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Yesenia Mejia Camarillo of Little Rock, Ark., three sons, Alejandro Joaquin Camarillo, Cesar Antonio Camarillo, and Nallo Ociris Camarillo, All of the home, his parents, Jose and Tomasa Camarillo, of De Queen, eight brothers, Justo Camarillo, Victor Hugo Camarillo, Miguel Angel Camarillo, Ruben Dario Camarillo all of De Queen, Alejandro “Alex” Camarillo of Atlanta, Georgia, Marco Antonio Camarillo, and Genaro “Gino” Camarillo both of De Queen, and Juan Manuel Camarillo of Texarkana, Ark.; two sisters, Diana Elena Camarillo of Little Rock, Ark.; and Violeta Camarillo of Conway, Arkansas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 6th in Saint Barbara’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 7th at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church with Monsieur Scott Friend officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Mayme Louise Taylor Caldwell

Mrs. Mayme Louise Taylor Caldwell, age 93, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, February 28, 2011 at her home.

She was born May 23, 1917 in Gillham, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and Baptist.

Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas and Rosa Murdock Taylor; her husband, Earl Caldwell; one son, Jerry Ray Waldon; four brothers, A.J. Taylor, Dee Taylor, Leon Taylor, and Thomas Taylor and one sister, Mae Roden.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Caldwell will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2011 in the Redmen Cemetery with Shane Haarmeyer officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2nd at the funeral home.

Thomas Spencer Sneed

Mr. Thomas Spencer Sneed, age 76, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 27, 2011, at his home.

He was born to Clarence Nathan Thomas and Kate Browning Sneed at Horatio, Arkansas, on August 9, 1934. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U. S. Marines. He was a licensed gas plumber, and had worked off shore in oil fields, the City of De Queen Gas Dept. and ARKLA. He was a member of the Williamson Community Church and had served as vice-president in the VFW Post 8082. He enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing, hunting, and was an avid gardener.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and in November of 2010, his wife of over 54 years, Perrylene Cannon Sneed.

He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Tamra “Tammy” Wheeler of Idabel, Oklahoma, Trudy and Hollis Martz of Lockesburg, and Tracey Doyle of New Boston, Texas, a son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and April Sneed of Horatio; fifteen grandchildren, Ginger, Devin, Thomas, Holly, Sarah, Tommy, Dora, Nathan, Colby, Carli, Sydney, Gracie, Kirsten, Justin, and Brody; ten great-grandchildren, Kenley, Everett, Josie, Jessie Jane, Ayden, Ashton, Arieanna, Lillian, Davin, and Eli.; three brothers and Sisters-in-law, Clarence and Helen Sneed of Plano, Texas, David and Jo Ann Sneed of Hope, and Fred and Anne Sneed of Branch, Arkansas, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judith and Jimmy Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas, Diane and Jerry Kinslow of Texarkana, Arkansas; and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife’s family, Donnie and Larry Bradshaw of De Queen, Charles and Martha Cannon of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Glen and Joyce Cannon of Lockesburg, Arkansas.

Funeral Services for Mr. Thomas Sneed will be held at 2:00 p.m, Friday, March 4th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Roden officiating. Burial will follow in the Lockesburg Cemetery, Lockesburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
