Mrs. Opal Faye Smith, age 84, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at her home.
She was born May 1, 1926 in De Queen. She was a retired nurse, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Eagletown, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Robert T. Lewis and Elenora Hankins; her brother, Wesley Holt; her husband, Rev. Phillip Smith; and one son, Harvey King.
She is survived by one daughter, Penny Smith; six grandchildren, Tara King of Amsterdam, Holland, Curtis Jamison of Dayton, Ohio, Kenneth King of De Queen, Arkansas, Jennifer Stafford of Escondido, California, Mark King of Argyle, TX and Charles Martin of Dayton, Ohio; and one sister-in-law, Victoria Gibson of Dayton, Ohio.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Smith will he held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2011 in the Sand Hill Cemetery
with Rev. Milton Glass officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Juanita Sue Goodwin Samuels
Mrs. Juanita Sue Goodwin Samuels, age 48, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at her home.
She was born January 31, 1963 in San Fernando Valley, California. She loved her grandchildren, butterflies, flowers and birds.
Mrs. Samuels was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Goodwin and Juanita Barrow Goodwin Eason; one brother, Michieal Goodwin; and her step-father, Thomas Eason.
She is survived by her husband, Benny Samuels of De Queen; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Tisha Samuels of De Queen; one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Sue and James Muchmore of Viola, Arkansas; 6 brothers, Clarence F. Goodwin, Jr., Boyd Goodwin, Randy Eason, Charles Goodwin, John Goodwin, and Nicky Eason; 5 sisters, Rebecca Samuels, Kristy Taylor, Gail Sowell, Dolly Duck and Angie James and 6 grandchildren, Brice, James, Kaleb, Kenadie, Austin and Sierra and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mrs. Samuels will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Oak Grove Pavilion on De Queen Lake, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Buster Verle Dellinger, Sr.
Buster Verle Dellinger, Sr. of Lockesburg, AR, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born November 18, 1941 in Lockesburg, AR. He was retired from the Weyerhaeuser treating plant.
Mr. Dellinger was preceded in death by his parents, Orus and Alice Mae Smith Dellinger; one grandchild, Gerald Tollett, Jr.; one brother, Delwin Dean Dellinger; one sister Cora Lee Hoover and one uncle George Henry Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Thomas Dellinger, one son and daughter-in-law, Buster and Becky Dellinger, Jr., of Lockesburg; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Gerald Tollett, Lisa and Rick Murphy and Rachel and Derek Taylor all of Lockesburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Willie Booth of Ashdown; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Will Ed and Linda Ann Dellinger of Ashdown and Ernest David and Suzanne Dellinger of Lockesburg; one uncle and his spouse, Ernest Sylvester and Betty Sue Smith; one aunt Ellen Shelley of Mena; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Dellinger will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2011 in the Lighthouse Church in Lockesburg with Buster Dellinger, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Wrights Chapel Cemetery
under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, AR.

Mr. Paul LeeRoy Hunter
Mr. Paul LeeRoy Hunter, age 55, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Saturday, February 26, 2011, at National Park Medical Center, Hot Springs, Ark.
He was born to Harold Clayton and Zelda Mildred Hendricks on May 11, 1955, at El Paso, Texas. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser Company, Dierks Mill, and enjoyed fishing, watching movies, and country music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Harold C. Hunter and Faith Johnson. He is survived by two brothers, Randy Hunter of Colorado, and Timmy Hunter of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, a special nephew, Joe Michael Johnson of Cove, Ark., and a special niece, Hope Cheatham of De Queen, as well as Other family members.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, and a memorial service will be announced later by Chandler Funeral Home
Mrs. Catherine Mae Scott Bennett
Mrs. Catherine Mae Scott Bennett, age 86, a resident of De Queen, and former resident of Mansfield, Arkansas, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.
She was born to John Oscar and Sallie Caroline Terrell Scott at Greenwood, Arkansas, on March 17, 1924. She was a retired employee of Whirlpool, and a homemaker. She was a member of the Rock Creek Baptist Church at Mansfield, Arkansas, and enjoyed traveling, photography, and interior design.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Hollie, Jack, John, and Claude Scott, Floy O. Parrish, and Rosie B. Ellis, and 2005, her husband, Charles Bennett.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Iris Carol and Father George Brooks of De Queen, a granddaughter, Kathryn Wood of Odessa, Texas, three great-grandchildren, Tatiana Weeks of Cabot, Ark., George Weeks of Sebastian, Florida, and Callinica Weeks of Midland, Texas, and one great-great-grandchild, Gracie, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Catherine Bennett will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 2nd in the Rock Creek Baptist Church, Mansfield, Ark. with Bro. Bill Rose and Rev. Kenneth Elmore officiating. Private burial will be in the Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Ark. Betty Lou Lansdell Massey
Mrs. Betty Lou Lansdell Massey, a resident of Gillham, Ark., died Friday, February 25, 2011 at her home.
She was born to Thomas and Lillie Kegley Lansdell at Foreman, Arkansas, on January 19, 1953. She was a retired employee of Pilgrim’s Pride Cafeteria, and a homemaker. She was a Baptist, and enjoyed crocheting, reading, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, her siblings, Clyde, Tommy, and Charlotte Lansdell, and a step-daughter, Cindy Jo Massey.
She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Massey of Gillham, two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Amber James of Gillham, Jeffery and Juliette James of Lockesburg, a step-daughter, Melissa Dawn Harris of Dallas, Thomas of Horatio, and Linda Halloway of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, six grandchildren, Megan, Brent, Aliza, Timothy, Michael and Amber, one great- grandchild, Gabriel, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Eddie J. Pulliam
Eddie J. Pulliam, of Fayetteville passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Fayetteville at the Washington Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 7, 1943 in Pine Bluff to Albert and Ruby Parks Pulliam. He attended Merrill High School in Pine Bluff and graduated with honors. He was a 1965 Graduate of the University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. Upon graduation he was recruited by Weyerhaeuser Company and began his career as a chemist at the Weyerhaeuser Company Treating Plant in De Queen, Arkansas and advanced to Laboratory Supervisor. He later transferred to Weyerhaeuser Paper Company in Valliant, Oklahoma and there continued as manager in several areas including Shift Superintendent and Power and Recover Superintendent. During his years with the Company he received the Professional Roundtable of Supervisors (PROS) Award which included a trip for two to Hawaii. He completed his career in management and retired in 2002 after 37 years of service.
He served as Mayor of the City of De Queen for 8 years.
Eddie was a former member of the Lewis Temple Church of God In Christ in DeQueen where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher. He and his wife Rose moved to Fayetteville in March of 2003 and worshiped with Hyland Park Assembly of God Church for four years. When the Spirit of Truth Church of God In Christ was established in Springdale, they returned to the COGIC denomination and he continued his service as deacon.
He was united in Holy matrimony to Rose Thomas November 20, 1965 in Pine Bluff at Trinity Temple Church of God In Christ by pastor DeWitt Hill. The couple also celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a renewal of vows ceremony in November of 1990 at Trinity Temple with the same pastor.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Thomas H. Pulliam.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Rose; two sons, Christopher Pulliam of Fayetteville, and David Pulliam of Las Vegas, Nevada; Two grandsons, Asante’ Pulliam and Isaiah Pulliam of Fayetteville; Two brothers, Dr. Albert L. Pulliam of Houston, Texas, and Dewey R. Pulliam of Kalamazoo, Michigan; one aunt Mazola Smith of Indianapolis, Indiana; 3 nieces and one nephew and a host of cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 27, 2011 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, February 28, 2011 in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home with Reverend Benjamin Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.

Peggy LaDon Gore Stotz
Peggy LaDon Gore Stotz, age 77, a resident of Horatio, AR died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at her home.
She was born August 19, 1933 in the Walnut Springs Community of Sevier County, AR. She was a retired nurse and worked at the VA Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts. She attended the Dilworth Cumberland Presbyterian Church and enjoyed playing bridge and doing yard work.
Mrs. Stotz was preceded in death by her parents, Reuel and Pauline Manning Gore and former husband, John C. Stotz.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Adam Reed of Concord, MA; a son and daughter-in-law, John Kevin and Ann Marie Stotz of Lowell, MA; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Gore of Horatio; a sister and brother-in-law, Lou Ann and Gary Banhart of Horatio; four granddaughters, Jennifer, Amanda, Laura and Amy Stotz, all of Massachusetts; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service for Mrs. Stoz will be held at 2:00p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in the Dillworth Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Horatio with Byron Sullivan officiating.
Cleo Christine Gore Hopson
Cleo Christine Gore Hopson, 96, a former resident of the Falls Chapel community near Lockesburg, AR went to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at MCSA in El Dorado, AR.
Mrs. Hopson was born October 1st, 1914 in the Dilworth community in Sevier County, AR. She was the daughter of Charles T. and Lena Myrtle Brown Gore. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Neville Woodson Hopson, and brother, Sebren Gore.
She was a mother, housewife, wonderful cook, and longtime pianist for the Falls Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian and Old Time Gospel Churches.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Neville Don and Mary Ann Hopson of Magazine, AR; Jan and Tommy Canion of Fayetteville, AR; Charla and Bill McGovern of Albuquerque, NM; and Rodney and Deanna Hopson of El Dorado, AR; 14 grandchildren Wink, Karlyn, Shane, Travis, Thomas, Ann, Shaun, Brandon, Greg, Candace, Benjami, Claire, Nichole, and Hanna, and 13 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday from 3 to 5 pm at Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Sunday at Falls Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bill Odom officiating. Burial will be in Falls Chapel Cemetery

Lottie McCain Citty Van Eman
Mrs. Lottie McCain Citty Van Eman, age 87, a resident of Drasco, Arkansas, formerly of De Queen, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in Heber Springs.
She was born July 2, 1923 in Redland, Oklahoma. She was a former nurse at De Queen Hospital and De Queen Clinic, and a member of the Church of Christ in Higden, Arkansas.
Mrs. Van Eman was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Henry and Carrie Velma Billingsley McCain; and her husbands, Q.W. Citty and Nick Van Eman.; and one great-grandson, Bradley Poole.
She is survived by one son, Lyndel Citty of Rattan, Oklahoma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Wesley Poole of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Betty and Kenneth Harrison of Drasco, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Tony and Joni Poole, Gary and Jennifer Poole, Robin and Russ Johnson, Sherry and Curtis Duncan and Amanda and Heath Culp; 10 great-grandchildren, Lyndsi, Kayli and Easton Winship, Quincey and Reid Johnson, Mallory, Blake and Shelby Poole and Harley and Hailey Culp.

Gladys Nadine Brown Snow
Mrs. Gladys Nadine Brown Snow, age 87, a resident of Lockesburg, Ark., died Sunday, February 20th in a Texarkana Hospital.
She was born to Charles Earnest and Ola Mae Fant Brown at Mauldin, Arkansas, on December 30, 1923. She was retired clerk for Oklahoma Transportation Commission, Oklahoma City, Okla., and enjoyed reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Vernon and Herman Brown, and a sister, Freddie Yates.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Cook of Fort Worth, Texas, two grandchildren, Donna Mertes of Tucson, Arizona, and Colleen Sandler of Bristow, Virginia, four great-grandchildren, a brother, Jerry Brown of Lockesburg, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Snow will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 23rd in the Lockesburg Cemetery, Lockesburg.
