Taylor

RECTOR -- Donald "Slim" Taylor, 93, of Rector died Monday, June 21, at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born in the Boydsville area near Rector, was formerly of Michigan and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Elma Mae Morrow Taylor; two sons, Donald Duran Taylor of Crossville, Tenn., and Philip Autry Taylor of Pocahontas; one daughter, Guelda Jacquline Taylor Valmassoi of Rector; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Elizabeth Bateman Taylor, six brothers and one sister.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home in Rector, with George Bearden officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Watson

TRUMANN -- James "Sonny" Watson, 77, of Trumann died Sunday, June 20, at his residence.

He had lived in Trumann for 25 years and was a member of the Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church in Tyronza. He was retired from Delta Wood Products in Trumann.

Survivors include eight sons, Bobby Watson, Steven Watson, Charles Watson and Tommy Watson, all of Jonesboro, Jerome Watson of Trumann, Fred "Bubba" Watson of Little Rock, Chester Watson of Los Angeles and Harold Mitchell of Marked Tree; five daughters, Sheila Watson of Jonesboro, Helen Watson of Austin, Lottie Mae Watson and Elizabeth Watson, both of Los Angeles, and Shirley Watson of St. Louis; and 18 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a so, James Watson Jr.; and his parents, Alex Watson and Isabella Watson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Watson officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock of Ages Cemetery at Tyronza under the direction of Sims-Woodard Funeral Service of Marked Tree.

Pallbearers will include Mike Coleman, Darryl Dancy, Johnny Turner, Reggie Ivy, Harold Mitchell and Mike Turner.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Yow

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- Graveside services for Marcia Lee Mack Yow, 66, of Jacksonville, who died Saturday, June 19, at Modern Care Convalescent Facility at Jacksonville, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould. The Rev. David Moseley will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould.

Born in Memphis, she was a homemaker and of the Methodist belief. She was a 1955 graduate of Paragould High School and had attended the Monticello School for Women in Godfrey, Ill. She had worked for five years as an aviation insurance representative for King Insurance Agency in Jacksonville.

Survivors include her husband, Homer H. Yow of the home; two sons, Steven Winston Yow of Ozark, Mo., and H. Allen Yow of Jacksonville; a daughter, Marcia Linley Yow Donovan of Jacksonville; three sisters, Madelyn Mack of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Carolyn Williams of Auburn, Ala., and Beverly Hughey of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Lee Yow; a son, Harold Sterling Yow; and her parents, Clyde Winston Mack and Virginia Lee Elder Mack.

Memorials may be made to Modern Care Convalescent Facility.

Alexander

NEWPORT -- William Guy Alexander, 93, of Newport died Tuesday, June 29.

He had worked 47 years for Missouri Pacific Railroad, was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and had served as an elder at Holden Avenue Church of Christ for 31 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Twila Blanchett of Newport and Charlene Epperson of Olyphant; a stepdaughter, Bettie Stegall of Newport; four grandchildren, Kathe Matthews, Coleda Gardner, Mark Proffitt and Tim Epperson; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elva Alexander; his second wife, Bernice Alexander; one daughter, Dorothy Lea Epperson; his parents; and one brother.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Dillinger Funeral Home, with J.L. May officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Barnes

MANILA -- Cecil Richard Barnes, 80, died Monday, June 28, at Manila Nursing Center where he had lived for the last three years.

Born at Trumann, he lived in Indiana and Trumann several years before moving to Lake City about five years ago. He had worked for Wheel Horse Inc. in South Bend, Ind., and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include five sons, Raymond Barnes of Lake City, David Barnes of Elkhart, Ind., and Jerry Barnes, Thomas Barnes and James Barnes, all of Mishawaka, Ind.; one daughter, Carolyn Long of South Bend, Ind.; two brothers, Vernon Barnes of Tulot and Earnest Barnes of Elkhart; four sisters, Helen Garrett of Jonesboro, Nettie Plunkett of Trumann and Louise Prince and Dorothy Prince, both of South Bend; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Barnes; two sons, Richard Barnes and Danny Barnes; and a sister.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Emerson Funeral Home chapel in Lake City.

Private funeral services and burial have been planned.

Cunningham

HARRISBURG -- Ray B. Cunningham, 78, of Harrisburg died Sunday, June 27, at Regional Medical Center of NEA.

Born at Camp, he lived in the Harrisburg and Trumann areas most of his life and was an Army veteran. He had been a maintenance technician for the Singer Co. and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Cunningham and Jerry Cunningham, both of Harrisburg, and James Cunningham of Bay; two sisters, Ruby Propes of Jonesboro and Imogene Muse of Trumann; and three grandchildren, Wesley Cunningham and Wade Cunningham, both of Trumann, and Angela Taylor of Harrisburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ann Cunningham; his parents, Grover Cleveland and Myrtel May Kirby Cunningham; one brother; and one sister.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Gary Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery near Harrisburg.

Active pallbearers will include Chall Hill, Odell Everhart, Ronnie Everhart, Bill Hickman, Buddy Cox and Gerald Benson.

Lowell Brooks and Delbert Loggins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Downey

PARAGOULD -- Myrtle E. White Downey, 93, of Paragould died Monday, June 28, at Paragould Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Formerly of West Helena, she was born in Bismarck. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and West Helena United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Raymond G. White of Memphis, Roy F. White Jr. of Carrollton, Ga., and Murl White of Paragould; one daughter, Christine Hinton of Wynne; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park at West Helena.

Sons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ellis

HARDY -- Jerry Don Ellis, 61, of Hardy died Tuesday, June 29, at St. Bernard's Auxiliary House in Jonesboro.

Born at Hardy, he had worked as a custodian in Cherokee Village and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include two brothers, J.V. Ellis of Ash Flat and Gene C. Ellis of Plano, Texas; and three sisters, Ruby Jackson and Vesta Sue Wiles, both of Hardy, and Jo Ann Byther of Cherokee Village.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Vestal and Jody Parlee Smith Ellis, and two sisters.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Higginbotham Funeral Service of Hardy is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Children's Home of Paragould.
