Colene Jackson Massey

Mrs. Colene Jackson Massey, age 91, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, October 5th in Ashdown, Arkansas.

She was born to Jack and Anna Catherine Montgomery Jackson on November 23, 1919, in Augusta, Kansas. She was a retired nurse, as well as a homemaker. She attended the Union Community Church, and enjoyed flowers, gardening, crocheting, and canning.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jack Jackson, Jr., a sister, Freida Fletcher, and her husband, George Albert Massey.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a son and daughter-in-law, T. C. and Nancy Massey of Horatio, a grandson, Dale Massey of Thompson, North Dakota, four great-grandchildren, Jason Massey of Pennsylvania, Patrick Massey of De Queen, Tyler Massey, and Jenny Massey both of Winnipeg, Canada; a sister, Florence Holland of Marlon, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Colene Massey will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 10th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Sunday, October 9th from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. The family wishes memorials may be made to the Alzheimers’ Alliance, 1105 College Drive, Texarkana, Texas 75501

Carolee Parker Lovell

Carolee Parker Lovell, age 92, a resident of Texarkana, Texas died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in a Texarkana hospital.

She was born October 28, 1918 in Horatio, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Mrs. Lovell was preceded in death by her husband, Fenton Lovell. Her parents, James A. and Maude Gore Parker; four sisters, Lucy Moseley, Nancy Moseley, Rozelle Russell, Cathleen Parker, one brother Hamilton Parker.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Dr. Leland Dodd of Texarkana, Texas and Shirley and Troy Montgomery of Robert Lee, Texas; four grandchildren, Greg McGough of Horatio, Shannon McGough of Wake Village, Whitney Montgomery of Robert Lee, Texas and Zeke Montgomery of Robert Lee, Texas; her great grandchildren, Sidney McGough of Wake Village, Jessica and Kacy McGough of Horatio, Arkansas and Clay Montgomery of Robert Lee, Texas. Her step-granddaughter and husband and their children Kate and Dr. Travis Tokar, daughters Olivia, Annika and foster child Nichole of Ft. Worth, Texas; two brothers, James Parker of Houston, Texas and Gene Parker of Niceville, Florida; two sisters, Anna Mae Bland of San Jose, California and Nona Connelly of Junction City, Kansas.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lovell will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Millwee Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at the funeral home.

Melvin Ross Nunn

Mr. Melvin Ross Nunn, age 57, a resident of Cove, Arkansas, died Tuesday, October 04, 2011, in the Brookewood Nursing & Rehab.

He was born to Fredrick Rollie and Betty Marie Reves Nunn at Lebanon, Oregon. June 3, 1954. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Rock Quarry. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watermelon suppers.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by a son, Samuel Ross Nunn of Garland, Texas, a daughter, Heather Taylor of Hatfield, Ark.; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Rick and Frannie Nunn of Cove, Robert and Earlene Nunn of Oregon, Roger Lewis and Bretta Nunn of De Queen, and Rollie and Sadie Nunn of Vandervoort, Ark.; four sisters, Judy and Jerry Conley of Baytown, Texas, Donnel Hart of Kemp, Texas, Veronica and Marvin Moe of Lebanon, Oregon, and Linda Forest of Cove, Arkansas, two grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews, and other family members.

A Memorial Service will be at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mary Katherine Sample Langlois

Mrs. Mary Katherine Sample Langlois, age 74, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born to Lester and May Halter Sample at Nimmons, Arkansas, on September 26, 1937. She was a retired truck driver, as well as a homemaker.

She was a member of the Nimmons Church of Christ, and enjoyed Razorbacks Sports, and was an avid reader. She loved animals, especially hummingbirds, and her two dogs, Zeke and Zora.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Timothy James Langlois.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, T. J. and Susan Langlois of De Queen, and Kevin and Coty Langlois of Horatio, three daughters and sons-in-law, Kristi and Billy Lambert of Dierks, Kari and Bob Rachel and Lori and Chris Taddonio all of Arlington, Texas, a sister, Veda Strait of Hot Springs, Ark.; nine grandchildren, a special granddaughter Melissa Langlois of De Queen, Ashley Thomas of Teague, Texas, Andrea Rachel, Brittany Taddonio, Courtney Taddonio, all of Arlington, Tex., Bethany Deer of Dierks, Keiton & Kaleigh Langlois of De Queen, Dylan Langlois of Horatio, three great-grandchildren, D. J. Deer of Dierks, Rylee Thomas, and Lane Thomas both of Teague, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Langlois will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3rd in the Redmen Cemetery with Rev. Coy Arnold, and Rev. Shane Haarmeyer officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, December 2nd from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Homer Eugene Ladd

Mr. Homer Eugene Ladd, age 76, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, November 26th in the Brookewood Nursing and Rehab.

He was born May 31, 1935, in De Queen, Arkansas to Homer Rex and Ollie Jean Peterson Ladd. He served in the U. S. Army, and was a retired merchant Marines.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by two sons, Sergeant Robert W. Ladd and Rex Ladd both of Texas, and a granddaughter, Megan Ladd Campos of Little Rock, Ark.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Homer Ladd will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 5th in Redmen Cemetery, De Queen, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Hattie Oneta McDougal

Mrs. Hattie Oneta McDougal, age 94, a resident of Texarkana, Texas formerly of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born August 19, 1917 in Wickes, Arkansas. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy "Buddy" McDougal; and her parents, James and Mildred Smith Sanders.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Mickey McDougal of Texarkana, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Maude and Rodney Zachry of Camden, Arkansas; and five grandchildren, Dr. Mia Cangelose, Nancy Stokes, Jeff Zachry, Greg Zachry and Melissa Schneider.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. McDougal will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2011 in the Oddfellows Cemetery in Lockesburg, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1st at the funeral home.

Clarence Howard Christiansen

Mr. Clarence Howard Christiansen, age 92, a resident of Athens, Arkansas died Monday, November 28, 2011 at his home.

He was born October 27, 1919 in Rockford, Illinois. He was a carpenter and a member of the Pentecostal Church.

Mr. Christiansen was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruby Leatherwood Christiansen.

He is survived by his wife, Taletta Baker Christiansen; one daughter, Lova Cook; three grandsons and their spouses, Jeff and Sheri Cook, Tim and Denise Cook and Gailin and Carolyn Cook, all of Athens; nine great-grandchildren, Eric Cook, Robin Cook, Brian Cook, Sean Scott, Autumn Jones, Shelby Scott, Haley Cook, Maddie K Cook and Abby Cook; and three great-great-granddaughters, Natalie Cook, Allie Cook and Shantel Cook.

Funeral Services for Mr. Christiansen will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in the Wickes Pentecostal Church with Chris Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the Athens Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 29th at the funeral home in Dierks.

William Henry Higgins

Mr. William Henry Higgins, age 65, a resident of Wickes, Arkansas died Monday, November 28, 2011 in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born March 25, 1946 in Wickes. He was a truck driver.

Mr. Higgins was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Effie Higgins.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Kimberly Higgins of Paris, Arkansas and Michael and Beverly Higgins of Mulberry, Arkansas; one sister, Virgie Lowrey of Wickes; nine grandchildren, Kisha and Kayla Higgins, Casondra Peak, Tyrail and Justin Higgins, Daniel and Jessica Harwood, Clinton McBee and Alisha Higgins and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mr. Higgins will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Baker Cemetery with Bro. Leon McCleskey officiating.

Alex Russell Dean Irvan

Alex Russell Dean Irvan, age 18, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas died Monday, November 28, 2011 in the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born December 14, 1992 in Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Russell and Corene Irvan.

He is survived by his parents, Kirby and Gayla Irvan of Horatio; one sister and brother-in-law, Sabrina and Rob Sidani of Rogers, Arkansas; maternal grandparents, Lowell and Neva Grelle of Valliant, Oklahoma; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2011 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Horatio High School Band, FFA, girls softball or basketball teams or boys baseball or basketball teams.

Beulah Lavern Hogan Tudor

Beulah Lavern Hogan Tudor, age 73, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, November 25, 2011 in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born September 24, 1938 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She worked in the cafeteria at Pilgrims Pride.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Gertrude Branham Hogan.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Wes Tudor of Little River Country Club, Wallace and Patti Tudor of Natural Dam, Arkansas and James and Paula Tudor of Lufkin, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Art and Kathy Hogan of Barling, Arkansas; one sister and brother-in-law, Eva Armstrong and Hank Thompson of Andros Island, Bahamas; five grandchildren, Jeffery Stewart, Wesley Clayton Tudor, Chasity Boyle, April Stover and Madison Tudor; two great grandchildren, Ethan Stover and Shaelynn Stewart; and two special friends, Dianne Campbell and Bonnie Bolton.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Tudor will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rev. Coy Arnold officiating. A service will also be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in the Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren, Arkansas. Burial will follow in the Dora Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at the funeral home.
