Bessie B. Ligon LaGrou

Mrs. Bessie B. Ligon LaGrou, age 94, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, December 3, 2011 in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.

She was born October 8, 1917 in Lockesburg, Arkansas to Charlie and Della Wilson Ligon. She sold real estate in California, and Nevada.

Bessis was preceded in death by her husband, Henry LaGrou in 1979, her parents, and two brothers, Chester H. Ligon and Charles Dewey Ligon.

She is survived by one brother, Charles J. Ligon, and his wife, Reventa Ligon of De Queen, one sister-in-law, Ruth LaGrou of Santa Maria, California, two nephews, Jerry Ligon of De Queen, and Junior Ligon of Virginia, three nieces Betty and Mary of Virginia, and Rhonda Wright of Horatio.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Cremation under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Billy Gene Barrett, Jr.

Billy Gene Barrett, Jr., age 29, formerly of Vandervoort, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Jourdanton, Texas.

He was born September 6, 1982 in DeQueen, Arkansas to Billy Gene Barrett, Sr. and Sandra Moore Barrett. He was united in marriage to Samantha Bell of Hatton, Arkansas on November 6, 2006. Billy was a Fracker in the gas and oil industry but his passion was hunting and his family, his pride being his son, Jacob.

He was a member of the Vandervoort Baptist Church and was a loving husband, son, father, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by Wife Samantha Barrett formerly of Vandervoort, Arkansas, Son: Jacob Creed Barrett formerly of Vandervoort, Arkansas, Parents: Billy Gene Barrett, Sr. and Sandra Barrett of Vandervoort, Arkansas., Brothers: Cody Barrett of Vandervoort, Arkansas, Justin Barrett of Vandervoort, Arkansas. Mother and Father in Law: Don and Teresa Bell of Hatton, Arkansas, Maternal Grandparents: J.C. and Dorothy Moore of Zafra, Oklahoma, Great-Grandmother: Myrtle Hopper of Zafra, Oklahoma, Paternal Grandparents: Shirley and Jerry Scott of Cove, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Doyle “Doc” Barrett.
Funeral services will be Saturday the 21st, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Vandervoort Baptist Church with Brother David Rowe officiating.

Interment will follow at Witherspoon Cemetery at Vandervoort under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday the 20th from 6 – 8 pm.
Pallbearers will be Carl Broach, Derek Pollard, Cody Barrett, Justin Barrett, Derek Barrett, Dylan Barrett, Jerry Oliver, Grant Clark, and Scotty Barrett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Barrett, Randy Milam, Hank Sandefur, Donnie Barrett, Perry Barrett, and Allan Lowrey.

Spencer Marceline Robinson

Mrs. Spencer Marceline Robinson, age 83, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was born September 5, 1928 in De Queen. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen and a member of Chapter B, P.E.O.

Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her parents, George Spencer and Johnnie Zelma Coche Larimore; her husband, Ralph O'Neal Robinson Sr.; one son, Ralph O'Neal "Sonny" Robinson Jr.; two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Robinson of De Queen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lynn and Mike Bourns of Benton, Arkansas and Vicki and Joe Pevahouse of Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister and brother-in-law, Olivia and Larry Romine of De Queen, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Christy Bourns, Lindsay Coon and her husband, Robert, Ann O’Neal Pevahouse and Spencer Pevahouse; three great-grandchildren, Lucy, Sally and Sam Coon; and a number of nieces and nephews to whom she was known as "Aunt Babe".

Funeral Services for Mrs. Robinson will he held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Hebert officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Friday, January 20th at the funeral home.

Robert "Bob" Allen Lindsey

Robert "Bob" Allen Lindsey, age 80, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at his home.

He was born May 3, 1931 in Bethany, Oklahoma. He was a mechanic, construction worker and a member of the Crossroads Church of Christ.

Mr. Lindsey was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ethel Passmore Lindsey; three brothers, Bill, Tony, and Tommy Lindsey.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda Martin Lindsey; four daughters, Carolyn Ann Douglas of Crossroads, Arkansas, Twilla Ruth Tidmore of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Bobbie Gail Starks of Ashdown, Arkansas and Tammy Michelle Powell of Nashoba, Oklahoma; one sister, Barbara Cargo of Dallas, Texas; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his church family and a number of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Lindsey will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Campground Cemetery with Leon Klitz and Brent Powell officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Marvin Thomas Wilemon

Marvin Thomas Wilemon, age 86, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, January 13, 2012 at his home.

He was born November 2, 1925 in Brashear County, Texas. He was a machinist and a Navy veteran of WWII.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Wilemon. He is survived by three sons, Terry Bradford Wilemon of Ft. Davis, Texas, Kenneth Ray Wilemon of Durham, North Carolina and Roy Lee Wilemon of Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister, Billie Bigham of De Queen; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Memorial services for Mr. Wilemon will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Williams officiating.

Edith Lelen Crawford Edwards Beck

Edith Lelen Crawford Edwards Beck, age 84, a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas died Monday, January 16, 2012 in New Boston, Texas.

She was born September 8, 1927 in Burke, Arkansas. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Beck was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Bertie Grooms Crawford; and one grandson, Kevin Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Beck of Ashdown; one son, Norman Edwards of Foreman, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ellis Harmon of New Boston, Texas; three step-children, Sandy Galloway, Jocelynn Stone and Glenn Beck; two grandchildren, Sherri Campanini of Texarkana, Texas and Kristina McCoy of New Boston; five great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Beck will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 in the Southern Baptist Church in Crossroads, Arkansas with Harley Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Alleene Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Dorothy Mae Griffin

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Griffin, age 90, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Monday, January 16, 2012 in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born May 3, 1921 in Henderson, New York. She was a homemaker and a member of the Williamson Community Church in Horatio.

Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by one son, Harold Rolfe.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Martha and George Williamson of Horatio; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Betty Rolfe also of Horatio and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Williamson Community Church with Bro. Jimmy Roden officiating.

Tony Allen Tucker

Tony Allen Tucker, age 43, a resident of Newhope, Arkansas, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at his home.

He was born January 23, 1968 in De Queen. He was a dozer operator.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill J. Tucker and one brother, Royce Tucker.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Tucker of Newhope; three daughters, Julie, Amber and Amanda Tucker; one son-in-law, Mark Ward; one grandson, Brenden Ward; his parents, Joe and Nola Feemster of Newhope; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Randy and Norma Tucker and Oneal Tucker all of Newhope; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Joan and Jim Wigley of Vega, Texas, Kathy Schaffer and friend Richard of Hugo, Oklahoma, Karen and Mike Fortenberry of Adrian, Texas and Deana and Donnie Manasco of Newhope; several nieces and nephews, including Colton Allen Coffman who is his name sake; and the mother of his children, Lisa Manning.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2012 in the Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Newhope with Rev. Kenny Fant officiating.

Louise Borden Lazenby

Louise Borden Lazenby, age 91, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas died Thursday, January 12, 2012 in De Queen, Arkansas.

She was born October 8, 1920 in Cerro Gordo, Arkansas. She was a retired poultry producer and a member of the Horatio Church of Christ.

Mrs. Lazenby was preceded in death by her parents, Dow Borden and Lottie Melviney Smith and her husband, Wayland Edgar Lazenby.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty and Carrell Russell of Cerro Gordo, Sharon and Jimmy Gatlin of Ashdown, Arkansas and Kay Thornton, of Foreman, Arkansas; one sister, Nora Neel of Horatio, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren and a number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lazenby will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 in the Horatio Church of Christ with Virgil Romine officiating. Burial will follow in the Horatio Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the funeral home.
