Ester Clara Hammock Wallace

Mrs. Ester Clara Hammock Wallace, age 81, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was born August 16, 1930 in Point Cedar, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Nora Greeson Hammock; her husband, B.J. Wallace Sr.; and one son, Benny Massey.

She is survived by her husband, Don Lott of Dierks; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jack Johnson of Rogers, Arkansas; two sons and daughters-in-law, B.J. Wallace Jr. and Janie Wallace of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Billy Jack and Marlynn Wallace of Dierks, Arkansas; three sisters, Alta Dorsey of Amity, Arkansas, Ruth Williams of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Bonnie Moule of Nevada City, California; one brother, Henry Hammock of Grass Valley, California; 11 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Wallace will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the Dierks Cemetery with Larry Eason officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 6th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Peggy Jane Oglesby

Mrs. Peggy Jane Oglesby, age 75, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas died Tuesday, February 7, 2012, in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born May 23, 1936 in Winlock, Washington. She was retired from Domtar Paper Mill.

Mrs. Oglesby was preceded in death by parents, Arthur Joseph and Dolly Davis Hart.

She is survived by two sons, Lloyd Oglesby and Lelon Roy Oglesby; two daughters, Lori Beall and Anita Gail Oglesby, all of Winthrop; two sisters, Sharon Anderson of Tacoma, Washington and Dolly Ann Cole of Southern California; one step-sister, Gayla Powell of Cottage Grove, Oregon; four grandchildren, Leah J. Beall, Holly J. Beall, Robert Gallagher III and Melissa Nicholas; one great-grandchild, Ethan Nicholas; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Oglesby will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2012 in the Piney Cemetery near Crossroads with James McRae officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9th at the funeral home.

Winnie L. Ward

Winnie L. Ward, 84, of Benbrook, TX died February 6, 2012 in Fort Worth, TX.

Mrs. Ward was born September 25, 1027 in Ashdown, AR. She was a member of memorial Baptist Church in De Queen, AR. She is preceded in death by her parents Luther and Marjorie Grose, one sister, Margie Faye Pounds, and one brother, Eugene Grose.

survivors include three sons; Lloyd E. (Gene) Ward and wife Amanda of Dallas, TX, Dean Ward and wife Yesenia of Benbrooke, TX, and Ernie Merrell of Ashdown, AR; one daughter, Rebecca Pickering and husband Joe of Dallas, TS; eight grandchildren: Alex Ward, Andrew Ward, Elizabeth Ward, Lane Ward, Ty Ward, Dustin Stone, Ernie Merrell, and Timothy Merrell.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 11:30 to 1:30 at Madden Funeral Home, Ashdown, AR.

Graveside Services will be Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 2:00p.m. at Blackerby Cemetery, Ashdown, AR with Rev. Kelly Adkinson officiating. arrangements are under the direction of Madden Funeral home, Ashdown, AR.

Charles Raleigh Lee

Mr. Charles Raleigh Lee, age 63, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, February 6th on his farm.

He was born to William Arthur, Sr., and Essie Frances Campbell Lee at De Queen, Arkansas, on October 8, 1948. He was a 1966 graduate of De Queen High School and received an Agri. Engineering Degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was a veteran of Desert Storm, Desert Shield, having served as Lt. Col., 24 years in the Army Reserves. He worked for Weyerhaeuser Company Treating Plant as plant engineer, until he became a full time farmer in 1979. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He served on the Sevier County Farmer’s Co-op Board. He served eight years total as the president of the Sevier County Farm Bureau, Chairman of various Sevier County Farm Bureau Committees, as well as serving on multiple Sevier County Farm Bureau Committees, continually supportive of the advancement of Agriculture for the State of Arkansas. He was a member of the Sweet Home Masonic Lodge, and was a past member of the Sevier County Cattlemen.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Sandy L. Lee of De Queen, a son, David Lee of Little Rock, Arkansas, two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Steve Crowell of Magnolia, Ark.; Amanda and Tay Sisoukrath of Little Rock, Ark., four grandchildren, Loman and Olivia Ferguson, Brody and Tristan Sisoukrath, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Charlotte Lee of De Queen, and James and Pat Lee of Lewisville, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services for Charles Lee will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 9th in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Hebert officiating. Burial with military and Masonic Rites will follow in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends and family at their home, 189 Lee Lane, on Wednesday, Feb. 8th from 5:00 until 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Charles R. Lee Memorial Scholarship Fund, 189 Lee Lane, De Queen.

George L. Winer

Mr. George L. Winer, age 78, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Monday, February 6, 2012 at his home.

He was born February 9, 1933 in Garvin, Oklahoma. He was a former service station owner and operator, a member of the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church in Lockesburg and was known as "The Fisherman".

Mr. Winer was preceded in death by his parents, Willie C. and Mary Jeter Winer; his first wife, Magell Winer; three sisters, Shug Wallace, Arie Jones and Verna Winer; six brothers, Tom, Andy, Earl, Gerald, Leo and Jerry Winer.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Winer of Lockesburg; three daughters, Pati Winer of Portland, Oregon, Georgia L. Hasten of Tyler, Texas and Wanda Staggs Cole of De Queen; two sons, Lonny R. Staggs of De Queen and Jason L. Chandler of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; one brother, Marion "Willie" Winer of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Young of Lockesburg and Joyce Chapman of De Queen; one brother-in-law, Jerry Hail of Keachie, Louisiana; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren as well as a number of beloved nieces, nephews and treasured church family members.

Memorial Services for Mr. Winer will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012 in the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Donnie Davis officiating.

Ruthie Faye Moss

Mrs. Ruthie Faye Moss, age 88, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Friday, February 3, 2012 in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born November 23, 1923 in Tahoka Texas. She was a homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church in De Queen and a member of the De Queen Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

Mrs. Moss was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Moss, her parents, Roy and Della Mae Price Cannon; a daughter, Charlote Swim and a brother, Allen L. Cannon.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lafae and Roger Mills of De Queen and Sylvia and John Piccola of Las Vegas, Nevada; a son-in-law, Donnie Swim of Grand Prairie, Texas; four grandchildren, Chuck (April) Swim, Charlene Mills, Doug Mills and John Piccola, Jr.; one great granddaughter, Haley Swim.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Moss will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 6th at the funeral home.

Lydia Johanna Baudenbach Shipley

Mrs. Lydia Johanna Baudenbach Shipley, age 81, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, February 4th in the Christus St. Michael Health System.

She was born to Johann and Centa Baudenbach on June 5, 1930 at Munich, Germany. She was a retired bookkeeper and telephone operator, as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed flowers, knitting, reading and spending time with family.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Raymond Edward Shipley of De Queen, a son and daughter-in-law, James Raymond and Connie Shipley of Holmes Beach, Florida, a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl L. and Alan Byrd of De Queen, a brother, Hans Blechinger of Munich, Germany, a sister, Inge Scherer of Munich, Germany, five grandchildren, Paula Leal and husband Jonathan, Jennifer Shipley, LT James Bryson Byrd USAF and wife Melissa, Jaime Byerly, and Cody Byrd, two great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Leal, and Cassandra Leal, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be at a later date.

David A. DeVault

Mr. David Alden DeVault, age 87, a resident of Lockesburg, Ark., died Friday, February 03, 2012 in Wadley Regional Medical Center.

He was born Howard Isaac and Louise DeVault on July 7, 1924 at Blue Island, Illinois. He was a Veteran of World War II. having served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired conductor for the Rock Island railroad, and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed building things, and helping people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Helen Janes McInness DeVault.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Jane DeVault of Jenks, Okla., A daughter, Ann Smith of Ft. Jones, California, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, and a special grandchild, Debra Grosheider of Circle Naperville, Illinois.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11th in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's witness, with Jerry Brazeal officiating. cremation arrangements under the direction of Chandler funeral Home.

David L. Rose

Mr. David L. Rose, age 94, a resident of McGehee, Arkansas, and former resident of De Queen, died Friday, February 3, 2012 in McGehee Medical Center, McGehee, Arkansas.

He was born to Cullen Henderson and Fannie Roberson Rose at Gillham, Arkansas on December 14, 1917. He was the great-grandson of Sevier County Pioneers, Levi Davis and Catherine Ann Hopkins. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser Company, and member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Josephine Holder Rose, a daughter, Alice Rose, a grandson, Jared Young, two brothers, and four sisters.

He is survived by a son, David Carroll Rose of Houston, Texas, three daughters and sons-in-law, Judith Raven of Houston, Texas, Johnnie and James Young, M. D. of McGehee, Arkansas, and Mary and Max Epperson of Houston, Texas, two grandchildren, Morton David Raven, Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Dr. Jennifer Young of McGehee, Arkansas.

Funeral Services for Mr. David Rose will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
