Bobbie Nell Bearden Miller Jones

Mrs. Bobbie Nell Bearden Miller Jones, age 78, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 2nd at her home.

She was born to Robert Lee and Clara Edna Smith Bearden at Umpire, Arkansas, on April 17, 1933. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Dierks Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Glen and Wayne Bearden, her husbands, Herman Edwin Miller, and J. D. Jones..

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robbie Joe and Kelly Miller, and David Earl and Stephanie Miller all of Dierks, a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Ann and Larry Edwards of Springdale, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Miller, Johnny Miller, Jeremy Miller, Keith Miller, Heath Miller, Renny Miller, B. J. Baxter, and Michael Baxter, ten great-grandchildren, a sister, Juanita Goss of Dierks, Ark., and a niece, Michelle Ward of Dierks.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Bobbie Miller Jones will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 5th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Umpire, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M

William Paul Ruzick

Mr. William Paul Ruzick, age 62, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Wednesday, February 1st in the Christus St. Michael Health System, Texarkana, Texas.

He was born to John Edward, Sr., and Deborah Anita Gibson Ruzick on November 6, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. He was industrial engineer, and a Roman Catholic. He enjoyed fishing, sports cars, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John Edward Ruzick, Jr., James M. Ruzick, and Michael F. Ruzick, and a son, Johnny Ruzick, III.

He is survived by a daughter, Shannon Tooke of Mishawka, Indiana, a step-daughter, Heide Janora Doeden of Fayetteville, Ark., a sister, Judy Bara of Bloomingdale, Ill, and two grandchildren, Nate and Emily Tooke, one niece, Tina Bara and one nephew, Jeffrey Bara

Cremation was under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, and no services are planned at this time.

Robert A. “Bob” Decker

Mr. Robert A. “Bob” Decker, age 81, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Wednesday, Feb. 1st in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born to Harvey Dixon and Mamie Melissa Thompson Decker at Dublin, Texas, on February 7, 1930. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U. S. Army. He was retired owner of Bob’s Trading Post in Odessa, Texas, retiring to Horatio in 1986. He also worked for Walmart in De Queen for several years.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Horatio, and enjoyed wood working, fishing, and hunting.

Mr. Decker was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth Decker, and Buddy Decker and a step- daughter, Beverly Ruzin.

He is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Wanda Lawley Decker of Lockesburg, a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Rita Decker of Canyon, Texas, a daughter, Deborah Thomas of San Antonio, Texas, a step-daughter, Barbara Kurachi and her husband, George, of Austin, Texas, one brother, Thomas Brian Decker of Weatherford, Texas, a sister, Patsy Ruth Turney of Mobile, Alabama 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bob Decker will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 4th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Staggs officiating. Burial with military rites will be held in the Horatio Cemetery. Visitation will be general.

Dorothy Ann Sanderson Shockley

Mrs. Dorothy Ann Sanderson Shockley, age 85, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 2, 2012 at her home.

She was born July 31, 1926 in Cabot, Arkansas.

Mrs. Shockley was preceded in death by her parents, Caleb and Bessie Nancy Sanderson; four brothers, John Floyd, Billy Ray, Homer Charles and Louis Claeborn “Sam” Sanderson; five sisters, Susie Lillian Nickels, Margie Earline Addibelle Reed, Jeannie Williams and Irene Hogue; and one half brother, Joe Lee Vann.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judith Nancy and Rusty Durham of De Queen, AR; one grandson, David Lane Dobbs and his wife Tammy of Cabot, AR; three great grandchildren, Justin Harrison, Anna Lauren and Ava Lane Dobbs of Cabot, AR; and one step grandson, Wade Durham of Hatfield, AR.

Memorial Services are pending.

Mary Jane Staggs Goode

Mary Jane Staggs Goode, age 89, a resident of De Queen, passed away, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born on March 28, 1922 to Henry L. and Kate Willmon Staggs in the Sardis Community, near De Queen, Arkansas. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and sewing, and was among the oldest members of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church of De Queen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sons; her husband of fifty-five years, Robert E. Goode; a daughter, Judy Packnett; a granddaughter, Lori Jane O'Connor; four brothers, Nolan Staggs, Curry Staggs, Henry (Ikey) Staggs and Ruel Staggs; five sisters, Mae Belle Staggs, Odessa Staggs, Ruby Chandler, Virginia Ruth and Vetra Faulkner.

Mrs. Goode is survived by one daughter and two sons-in-law, Glenda and Ken Rogers, and Gehri Packnett; two granddaughters, Debbie Smith, and Kendra Icenhower; four grandsons, Scott Packnett. Jeff Lipsey, Paul Lipsey, and Robert Rogers; eight great-granddaughters, Sarah Newton, Savannah Packnett, Sammi O'Connor, Ashley Torres, Morgan Lipsey, Rachel Lipsey, Lauren Icenhower, and Kaitlyn Icenhower; ten great-grandsons, Jonathan Bard, Beau Packnett, Cade Packnett, Hunter Lipsey, Tanner Lipsey, Manuel Hernandez, Cal O'Connor, Matthew Keeney, Colton Rogers, and Luke Rogers; two great-great-granddaughters; one great-great-grandson; one brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Opal Staggs and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Goode will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Bro. Jason Carlton and Bro. Joe Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Piney Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 3rd at the funeral home.

Billy Jack Wallace

Billy Jack Wallace, age 54, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Sunday, January 29, 2012 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He was born September 27, 1957 in De Queen, Arkansas. He was a truck driver, a U.S. Army veteran, and a Methodist.

Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, B.J. Wallace, Sr. and Esther Clara Hammock Wallace; and a brother, Benny Massey.

He is survived by his wife, Marlynn Miller Wallace of Dierks; two sons, Shannon Wallace of Hot Springs and Trenton Wallace of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one step son, Jason Stapp of Dierks; one step daughter, Angie McBride of Dierks; one brother, B.J. Wallace, Jr. of Hot Springs; one sister, Patricia Johnson of Rogers, Arkansas; two grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Wallace will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Rev. David Smith and Rev. Jeff Robbinett officiating. Burial will follow in the Dierks Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Dierks.

Ottie Vermease Cook Simmons

Mrs. Ottie Vermease Cook Simmons, age 88, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 in the De Queen Regional Medical Center.

Vermease was born October 2, 1923 in Daisy, Arkansas. She was the youngest daughter of John and Minnie (Copeland) Cook. She was a homemaker, devoted mother and grandmother, a very caring, loving and unselfish person. She enjoyed cooking, quilting and gardening when she was able. Family was very important to her and she enjoyed holidays and special occasions with them. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lockesburg and served as church secretary for many years until her disability kept her from getting out.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thelma Simmons; sister, Lola Barentine; brothers, Hester, Carrol, Cleo and Curtis Cook.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Johnny Michael Simmons and wife Anita and Timothy Kevin Simmons all of Lockesburg; one grandson, John Garrett Simmons of Lockesburg; three granddaughters, Brandi Lynn Arter and husband Logan and Dana Michele Simmons of Lockesburg and Natasha Deann Simmons of Ashdown, Arkansas; one great-grandson, Kevin Tyrell Arter and one great-granddaughter, Justtes A’Reinghs Latimer of Ashdown. Several nieces and nephews and many friends. Special friends, Tina Frost and Son Brandon of Texarkana.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Simmons will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2012 in the Lockesburg First Baptist Church with, Bro. Jack Gilliland and Bro. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery near Kirby, Arkansas under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 29th at the funeral home in De Queen.

ReNee Emmert Roberts

Mrs. ReNee Emmert Roberts, age 68, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 in the Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born August 22, 1943 in Ennis, Texas. She was a homemaker, poultry grower and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lockesburg where she played the piano and organ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marquard Samuel and Naomi Ruth Ingle Emmert and one daughter, Brenda Jill Roberts.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Roberts; two sons, Tim Roberts and Kyle Roberts; one daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Kevin Fatherree all of Lockesburg; three brothers, Gayle Emmert of Waco, Texas, David Emmert of Tyler, Texas and Wallace Emmert of Ennis, Texas; one sister, Camille McClanahan of Corsicana, Texas; three grandchildren, William Roberts, Cameron Ashmore and Stefan Fatherree; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Roberts will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church in Lockesburg with Rev. Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Belleville Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28th at the funeral home.

Guy Dudley Dowell

Guy Dudley Dowell, age 71, a resident of Wickes, Arkansas, formerly of Dierks, Arkansas died Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Dierks.

He was born July 12, 1940 in Little River County, Arkansas. He was a former school bus driver for the Wickes School System, and a member and past master of the Oak Hill Masonic Lodge #393 in Dierks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Caryl Sue Scott Dowell in 1995; and his parents, Charles and Helen Smith Dowell.

He is survived by one son, Glendon Dowell of Wickes; two grandchildren, Montana Deshawn Dowell and Codi Renee Winship; one sister, Charlene Kee of Kilgore, Texas; a special friend, Helen Hartness of Lockesburg, Arkansas; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Dowell will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Rev. Bobby Neal officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at the funeral home in Dierks.
