Smith

MANILA -- Lola Irene Smith, 77, of Manila died Monday, June 28, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Willie Town, Tenn., she was a lifelong Manila area resident and was of the Pentecostal belief.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Smith of Manila.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill F. Smith; a son, Robert Smith; her parents; two brothers; and a sister.

Graveside services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Manila Cemetery, with the Rev. Glenda Johnson officiating. Howard Funeral Service of Manila is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Combs

NEWPORT -- Billy Don Combs, 64, of Newport died Saturday, July 17, at Harris Hospital.

Born at Pennington, he was a 1957 graduate of Newport High School and had attended Arkansas State University.

He established and was publisher of the Jackson Countian, and was a member of Midway Church of Christ. He had also been a Church of Christ minister for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bray Harbison Combs of the home; one son, Billy A. Combs of Harrisburg; one daughter, Gina R. Motes of Harrisburg; one stepson, Phillip Harbison of Marked Tree; three stepdaughters, Sandra Link and Stacey Harbison, both of Jonesboro, and Sherry Howard of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Joe Combs of Marion and Don Combs of Midway; two sisters, Earline Smith of Harrisburg and Barbara Rushing of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; three grandchildren, Brent Wake, Tyler Bates and Dylan Combs, all of Harrisburg; and two step-grandchildren, Kasey Harbison and Chastity Spray.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Midway Church of Christ, with Bill Wheeler Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Pennington Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Jimmy Mann, Gene Templeman, James Green, Leo Ryan, Nick Jackson and Tony Lewis.

Farley

BROOKLAND -- Bill G. Farley, 72, of Brookland died Sunday, July 18, at his son's residence.

Arrangements will be announced by Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Faulkenberry

BAY -- Ethel Brewer Faulkenberry, 93, of Bay died Sunday, July 18, at Rose Care Center of Trumann.

Born in Tennessee, she had been the owner and operator of Jewell's Service Station and Cafe at Bowman. She was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Elvis Findley of Bay; one brother, O.B. Brewer of Watervliet, Mich.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alton Findley, and her second husband, Jewell Faulkenberry.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel of Jonesboro, with Carl Anders officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Lewis Beyersdof, A.B. Scott, Donnie Scott, James Ingram, Ricky Scott and Woodrow Coleman.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Fortenberry

ST. LOUIS -- Maynard N. Fortenberry, 94, of St. Louis died Friday, July 16, at Christian Hospital Northeast.

He had lived in Jonesboro until 1951 when he moved to St. Louis.

Survivors include three daughters, Thurvia Short, Audrey Jones and Elaine Wright; one son, Avery Fortenberry; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethal M. Fortenberry, and four children.

Funeral services are scheduled for noon Tuesday at Hutchens Mortuary in Florissant, Mo. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hope Church of Florissant.

Garrison

Henderson -- James Eugene Garrison Sr., 60, of Henderson died Sunday, July 18, at his home.

Born at Jonesboro, he had lived in Jonesboro until moving to Henderson 10 years ago.

He had served in the Navy and was a superintendent for Lowes Cos. Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Betty C. Thomas Garrison of the home; one son, James Eugene Garrison Jr. of Mountain Home; one daughter, Janet Meredith of Harrisburg; two brothers, Jimmy Lee Garrison of Jonesboro and Bobby Wayne Garrison of Brookland; three sisters, Carol Sue Long and Vanessa Sue Rodney, both of Jonesboro, and Faye Flanigan of Laurel, Miss.; and three grandchildren, Tonya Meredith of Jonesboro and Kristy Lyons and Malory Lyons, both of Ravenden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Mildred F. Garrison.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel at Jonesboro. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Miller

WEST MEMPHIS -- Frances Ritchie Miller, 69, of West Memphis died Saturday, July 17, at West Memphis.

She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of West Memphis and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include one son, Mike Miller of West Memphis; one daughter, Patricia Fowlkes of Union City, Tenn.; two stepsons, Scott Miller of Mississippi and Tony Miller of Texas; one sister, Joyce Berry of Caraway; and one grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Miller.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today in Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery at Marion.

Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to East Arkansas Humane Society of West Memphis.

Randel

BROOKLAND -- Funeral services for Orval J. Randel, 72, of Brookland, who died Saturday, July 17, at NEA Medical Center, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel.

Terry Hazelwood and Onis Sommers will officiate, and burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Gary Randel, Gary Ford, Steven Randel, Charles Kaszuba and Brian Rookey.

Born at Caraway, Randel had worked for the Jonesboro Country Club and had retired from Camcar Textron in Belvidere, Ill., before moving to Brookland. He attended Peace Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include his wife, Murline Glisson Randel of the home; two sons, Steven Randel of Rockford, Ill., and Richard Glisson of New River, Ariz.; three daughters, Sheila Kaszuba of Brookland, Sherry Randel of Jonesboro and Donna Randel of Darien, Ill.; two sisters, Eva Whitlow and Sandra Wilhite, both of Paragould; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janis Davis; his parents, Ernest and Elsie Wilkerson Randel; one brother; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Seaton

LUXORA -- James Gilbert Seaton, 71, of Luxora died Friday, July 16, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Henderson, Tenn., he was a retired mechanic for the Luxora School District and was a former member of the Luxora Fire Department. He was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Linebarger of Harrisburg and Sandra Hayes of Sherwood; three sons, Elden Seaton of Parsons, Tenn., Danny Seaton of Burdette and Dewayne Seaton of Osceola; two sisters, Racheal Cagle of Kensett and Laverne Hubbard of Jackson, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Lesley Matthews, Shannon Seaton, Candy Nations, Danny Seaton II, Brandy Seaton, Jessica Young and Serena Grass; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Franklin Seaton, and one brother.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola, with Jason Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Luxora Cemetery.
