Emelisa Martinez

Emelisa Martinez, 68, of Broken Bow passed away on Friday, August 03, 2012 at her home.

She was born on March 8, 1944 in Norhein, Texas, the daughter of Genova and Cruz Elizondo Acuna.

Emelisa was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed sewing, cooking and going to the casino. She loved her family dearly and cherished the time she spent with them.

Emelisa is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Jim Acuna and a sister, Chricita Acuna. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons and daughters in-law, Rudy and Schrae Thomas Griggs of Broken Bow and Roy and Faith Estrada of De Queen, Arkansas; daughter and son in-law, Virginia and Steve Hagood of De Queen, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray and Ramundo Acuna; a sister, Esther Acuna and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 5 from 6-8 PM at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow.

Funeral mass services will be held on Monday, August 6 beginning at 9 AM at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow with Father Daniel Comcos presiding. Burial will follow at the Chapel Hill Cemetery in De Queen, Arkansas under the direction of Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow. Online condolences can be sent at www.bunchsingleton.com

Darlene Lucille Teater Bray

Mrs. Darlene Lucille Teater Bray, age 86, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Thursday, August 2, 2012 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

She was born August 10, 1925 in Jennings, Kansas. She was a homemaker, president of the resident committee at Dierks Health and Rehab and a member of the Dierks Church of Christ.

Mrs. Bray was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Anna Weick Teater; one daughter, Gail Whaley Marshall; one son, Frank Whaley; one step-son, David Bray; and two great-grandsons, Treyton Hogg and Hunter Britt.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Bray of Dierks; three daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Dale Dougan and Cindy and Matthew Grady, all of Nashville, Arkansas and Kim and Ricky Lloyd of Dierks; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Cindy Bray also of Dierks; one step-son, Don Bray and his wife, Gay also of Dierks; one step-daughter, Gwen Whitten of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and several step-grand and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Bray will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2012 in the Dierks Church of Christ with Bro. Bobby Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 5th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Ethelyn (Joyce Hail) Chapman

Mrs. Ethelyn (Joyce Hail) Chapman age 74, a resident of De Queen and formerly of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died Thursday, August 2, 2012 in the Brookewood Nursing Center in De Queen.

She was born June 13, 1938 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Joyce will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving sister, aunt, and friend. She will also be missed by her new found family and friends of the Brookewood staff and residents. She would brighten up a room with her joyful personality and keep you laughing with her quick wit. She may be gone but will live in our hearts forever.

Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Frank Hail and Frances Hail Oakley.

She is survived by two sisters, Sarah Young and Rose Winer, both of Lockesburg, Arkansas; two brothers, Jerry Hail and his wife, Carolyn of Keatchie, LA, Frank Hail and his wife Lynn of Chouteau, OK; a niece, Sherry Leslie of Idabel, OK; a nephew, Jason Chandler of Broken Bow, OK; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 in the Broken Bow, OK Cemetery. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.

Karen Kay Lightfoot Lipscomb

Mrs. Karen Kay Lightfoot Lipscomb, age 59, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 in the Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born on July 16, 1953 in Nashville, Arkansas. She was the office manager for Nashville Trucking for 20 years and a member of the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks.

Mrs. Lipscomb was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Gilmore Lightfoot.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years Starling Houston Lipscomb, Jr.; one daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Tommy Holden; her mother, Helen Faye Griffin Lightfoot all of Dierks; one brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Lorrie Lightfoot of Waldo, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Brian, Emily and Kaleb Holden and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lipscomb will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2012 in the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks with J.W. Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Dierks Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 2nd at the funeral home in Dierks.

James Oliver Springs, Sr.

Mr. James Oliver Springs, Sr., age 73, a resident of Tucson, Arizona, died Wednesday, December 09, 2009 in the Carondelet St. Josephs Hospital in Tucson.

He was born June 19, 1936 in Devine, Texas. He was a retired Tech Sergeant for the United States Air Force.

Mr. Springs was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline C. Gadbois Springs on August 9, 2002; his parents, Jerome and Nola B. Clancy Springs; one daughter, Deborah Ann Lynch and a son, James Springs, Jr.

He is survived by two sons, William Fred Springs and Derek Jerome Springs; one daughter, Teressa Louise Joyner and many other friends and relatives.

Memorial services for Mr. Springs will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 01, 2012 in the Grannis Cemetery.

Wade Chandler

Mr. Wade Chandler, age 75 of Nashville, Arkansas, passed away, Thursday July 26, 2012 in Nashville. He was born August 4, 1936 near Horatio, Arkansas to the late Arthur and Geneva Forehand Chandler. He was a retired office manager for Southern Cement Transport.

Mr. Chandler was a Methodist. He loved to cook and clean. He was very articulate about anything he did. He loved working in his yard and his garden. He was an excellent handyman and loved to draw. Most of all he loved his entire family, putting his grandkids above everything else.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mac Roy Chandler.

Survivors include his wife of over 54 years, Lajuan Chandler of Nashville
6 children, Rick Chandler of Cedar Hill, Texas, Sheila Pinson of Nashville, Shelly Matheny of Bryant, Arkansas, Russ Chandler of Nashville, Ron Chandler of Texarkana, Texas, Sherry Allen of Nashville, 1 Brother, Clint Chandler of Bryant, Arkansas, 1 sister, Edna Mae Morris of Pearcy, Arkansas, 11 grandchildren, Sarah Parker, Lisa Magee, Chance Allen, Caitlin Allen, Cheyenne Allen, Alexandria Chandler, Skylar Chandler, Jillian Chandler, Zack Pinson, Hali Pinson and Jalyn Pinson.4 Great Grandchildren, Kyle Parker, Kory Parker, Jacob Magee and Landon Magee. A host of other family and friends.

Services will be Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 3 pm. at Old Center Church near Horatio with Bro. Sam Hendrix and Jim Pinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Center Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 pm.

Ellen Frances Dowdle Revels

Mrs. Ellen Frances Dowdle Revels, age 85, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in the Little River Memorial Hospital in Ashdown, Arkansas.

She was born March 30, 1927 in the Rock Hill Community near Lockesburg, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lockesburg United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Revels was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edwin “Buddy” Revels; parents, Andrew Tilden, Sr. and Sarah Ola Wyatt Dowdle; one son, Jerry Quinton Revels; one daughter, Judy Ford and a brother, Andrew Dowdle, Jr.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Terri Revels of Lockesburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jerry Brackett of Lockesburg and Sadie and Phil Yates of Glenwood, Arkansas; four sisters Audine Butler of Lockesburg, Bobbie Butler of Nashville, Arkansas, Irma Friday of Lockesburg and Sammye Winton of Dierks, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law, Ginger Dowdle and Naomi Hale both of Lockesburg; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Revels; eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Revels will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2012 in the Lockesburg United Methodist Church with Terry Chapman and John Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Lockesburg Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the funeral home.

James Randal "Randy" Mitchell

James Randal "Randy" Mitchell, age 53, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Saturday, September 22, 2012 in Houston, Texas.

He was born May 21, 1959 in Fairfield, California. He was a registered nurse at Select Specialty Hospital in Little Rock.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife, Melinda Lou Vance Mitchell.

He is survived by one son, Michael Mitchell of Farmington, Arkansas; two daughters, Melissa Mitchell of Junction City, Kansas and Michelle Abram of Abilene, Kansas; his parents, James and Donna Mitchell of Horatio, Arkansas; two brothers, Brian Mitchell of Horatio and Donnie Mitchell of Hooks, Texas; three grandchildren, Lakyn and Hailey Mitchell, both of Farmington and Addison Mitchell of Junction City; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rev. John Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery in Horatio.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the funeral home.
