Freeda Mae Bobo

reeda Mae Bobo, age 91, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Dierks.

She was born May 11, 1921 in Black Springs, Arkansas. She was a seamstress for Howard Manufacturing, an Avon Representative and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dierks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Alfred Bobo in 1991; a son, Harold Bobo in 1997; her parents, Odis Guilford and Mamie Eathel Loudermilk; and two brothers. Odis Loudermilk, Jr. and Jeff Loudermilk.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Richard Cross of Forney, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Janet Bobo of Dierks; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Bobo of Fouke, Arkansas; one sister, Wilma Gaston of Texarkana, Texas; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Bobo will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in the Black Springs Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Neal officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the funeral home in Dierks.

Joseph Henry "Shorty" Fitzhugh

MR. JOSEPH HENRY “SHORTY” FITZHUGH, AGE 86, A RESIDENT OF HORATIO, DIED SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2012, IN ST. JOSEPH’S MERCY CENTER, HOT SPRINGS, ARK.

HE WAS BORN TO JAMES EARL AND MYNERVA AYERS AT CERRO GORDO, ARKANSAS, ON FEBRUARY 13, 1926.

HE WAS A VETERAN OF WORLD WAR II, WAS RETIRED FROM CONSTRUCTION, AND ENJOYED HUNTING, FISHING, AND HORSE RACING.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, AND HIS BROTHERS, JAMES EARL FITZHUGH, JR., JIM WILLIAM FITZHUGH, AND KENNETH REED FITZHUGH.

HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF OVER 56 YEARS, SUE Jackson FITZHUGH OF HORATIO, A SON, JOSEPH LYNN FITZHUGH AND SHERRY NORMAN OF HORATIO, TWO GRANDCHILDREN, WHITNEY AND TAYLOR, A SISTER, ADDILEE CLOWERS OF ASHDOWN, AND A NUMBER OF NIECES AND NEPHEWS, AND A SPECIAL FRIEND, DAVID HENNARD OF DE QUEEN.

GRAVESIDE FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MR. JOSEPH FITZHUGH WILL BE HELD AT 2:00 P.M., TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH IN THE CAMPGROUND CEMETERY WITH REV. BOB MCCOY OFFICIATING, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, DE QUEEN.

Deryl Glynn Williams

Deryl Glynn Williams, age 52, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas died Saturday, September 22, 2012 in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born on October 09, 1959 in Humboldt, California. He was a self-employed construction worker and loved to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Sybil Bamburg Williams.

He is survived by one daughter, Kasey Nicole Williams of Bossier City, Louisiana; one son, Wesley Deryl Williams also of Bossier City, and a number of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Williams will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 in the Belleville Cemetery with Ricky Baker and Tim Johnson officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Edmond Wayne Short

Edmond Wayne Short, age 71, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, made his journey home on Saturday, September 22, 2012 in Horatio.

He was born December 1, 1940 in Soper, Oklahoma. He was a retired millworker.

Mr. Short was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Juanita Short; his wife, Athlene Stokes Short and two brothers, James Calvin Short and Emerson J. Short.

He is survived by four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Kermit and Rexene Short of Gold Beach, Oregon, Thomas Short of De Queen, Arkansas, Nick and Joyce Short of Gillham, Arkansas, and Kenneth and Florene Short also of De Queen; one sister, Ruth Alsobrook of Horatio; one adopted sister, Ollie Jean Short Wilson of Bethel, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Short Vance and Jerry Vance of Dierks; two granddaughters, Dakota and Jessica Vance, a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, a number of friends and a special friend, Marie Elliott.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Short will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2012 in the Fellowship Cemetery with Father Norbert Rappold officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

Viewing will be Wednesday, September 26th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Wanda Faye Dorsey Edens

Mrs. Wanda Faye Dorsey Edens, age 70, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at her home.

She was born on June 19, 1942 in Sentinel, Oklahoma. She was a former employee of Weyerhaeuser Treating Plant, a homemaker and attended the Horatio Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Edens was preceded in death by her parents, Charley Ellis and Gracie Patton Dorsey; one son, Marlin Edens; one daughter, Belinda Edens; one brother, Gary Dorsey and one sister, Fenora Watkins.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene L. Edens; one son, David Edens of Huntsville, Alabama; one daughter, Winona Mickle of Lockesburg, Arkansas; one sister, Mary Hudson of Foreman, Arkansas; one brother, Randy Dorsey of Horatio, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Edens will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2012 in the Horatio Assembly of God Church with Bro. John Gutierrez and Bro. Ralph Staggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, September 21st at the funeral home.

Doyle Floyd Staggs

Doyle Floyd Staggs, age 76, a resident of Lockesburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in the Dubuis Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born September 25, 1935 to Henry L. and Kate Willmon Staggs in the Sardis Community, near De Queen, Arkansas. He was a retired logger and very devout member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church where he had served as deacon for many years. Mr. Staggs loved God and his family very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Benny Ray Staggs; four brothers, Nolan Staggs, Curry Staggs, Henry (Ikey) Staggs and Ruel Staggs; six sisters, Mae Belle Staggs, Odessa Staggs, Ruby Chandler, Virginia Ruth, Vetra Faulkner and Mary Goode.

Mr. Staggs is survived by his wife of 58 years, Opal Staggs; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Bobby Hodges of De Queen; one granddaughter, Brandi Cole and her husband Rob of De Queen; one grandson, Kirk Hodges and his wife Tasha of Smithville, Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law and their spouses, Rodger and Pam Tollett and Dean and Sue Tollett both of Lockesburg, Donald and Rosemary Tollett of Texarkana; one sister-in-law, Anita Norris of Russellville, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Staggs will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Bro. Charles Jones and Bro. Roy Conatser officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Piney Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 21st at the funeral home.

Alfredo Jose Luis Martinez

Alfredo Jose Luis Martinez, infant son of Alfredo Martinez and Danielle McRae, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012 in Texarkana, Texas.

He is survived by his parents; his grandparents, Jody and Tammy McRae of De Queen and Alfredo and Maria Martinez, also of De Queen; great grandparents, Rachel McRae of De Queen and Glenden Irons, also of De Queen; aunts and uncles, Erika Martinez, Elizabeth Martinez, Maria Martinez, Roberto Martinez, Angel Navarrete, Jose Navarrete, Leo Navarrete and Oralia Silva; and a number of cousins.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Darel Wade McCauley

Darel Wade McCauley, 56, passed away on September 6th, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock, AR.

He was born October 22, 1955 in Prineville, Oregon to Doyle W. McCauley and Alice L. Hines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Preston McCauley.

He is survived by his long time partner of 12 years, Darla Balandran of North Little Rock, AR., Son Dion Wesley McCauley of Forest Grove, Oregon, Brother and Sister-in-law, David and Pam McCauley of Benton, AR., 2 Sisters and Brother-in-laws, Sheila and Jeff Beavor from Bay St. Louis, MS, Sheri and Mike Richardson from Wickes, AR, 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews all of whom he loved dearly.

Darel served in the US Army for 5 years and was a Vietnam Era Veteran. He was a welder by trade and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his friends and family.

A celebration of his life will be held Sunday September 9th for family and friends.
