Jason Dale Parks

Jason Dale Parks, age 26, a resident of Bossier City, Louisiana died Monday, October 8, 2012.

He was born May 29, 1986 in De Queen, Arkansas. He was a conductor for K.C.S. Railroad, served in Iraq in the Army Reserve and attended Gillham First Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his son.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oliver Dale Harder, Ruby Corinne Prince Harder and D.V. "Jim" Parks.

He is survived by his mother, Glenda Harder Parks of De Queen; his father and life partner, Vernon Parks and Brenda Wedehase of Cameron, LA; one brother, Dall Parks of Cove, AR; one son, Jami Donald Parks of Longstreet, LA; his grandparents, Gail Reves Parks of Gillham, AR and Charlene and Ernie Lebleu of Lake Charles, LA; a special friend, Keri Welch of Camden, AR; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rev. Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the McHorse Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2012 in the funeral home chapel.

Mitchell Dwain Riley

Mitchell Dwain Riley, age 69, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas died Monday, October 8, 2012 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He was born September 24, 1943 in King, Arkansas. He was a truck driver for Pilgrims Pride and a member of the Assembly of God in De Queen.

Mr. Riley was preceded in death by his parents, James Brannom and Bertha Mae McAnelly Riley.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Haarmeyer Riley of Gillham; two sons, Mitchell Riley, Jr. of Storm Lake, Iowa and Jason Riley of Little Rock, Arkansas; one daughter, Melissa Riley of Gillham; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Linda Riley of Gillham; two sisters, Melissa Bishop of Roseburg, Oregon and Maxine Barnes of Gillham; four grandchildren, Hunter Scott Riley, Emily Elizabeth Riley, Jon-Luc Riley and Eden Gretchen Riley; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Riley will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shane Haarmeyer and Rev. Ray Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the funeral home.

Mari Alice Pearce Coleman Vobora

Mari Alice Pearce Coleman Vobora, age 71, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, October 4, 2012, in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born to Aaron Oliver and Hazel Irene Kelley Pearce at De Queen, Arkansas on October 7, 1940. She was a retired administrative assistant as well as a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service in Grants Pass, Oregon. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and enjoyed traveling, painting, and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Perry Pearce.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Vobora of De Queen, two sons and daughters-in-law, Lonny Owen and Cherie Coleman of Annapolis, Maryland, and Michael Frank Vobora of Knoxville, Tennessee, two daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie Mari and Bill West of Oregon City, Oregon, and Toni Jo and Ray Wartinger of De Queen, four grandchildren; Joshua Coleman, Christine Coleman, Nathaniel Jason Pederson, and Brandon West, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Mari Alice Vobora will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 20th in the Chandler Funeral Home chapel with rev. David Williams officiating. Memorials may be made to the First United church of De Queen. Visitation will be at the home, 1089 chapel Hill Road. De Queen from 1:00 to 4:00P.M.

Harriett Colleen Smith Burges

Mrs. Harriett Colleen Smith Burges, age 91, a resident of De Queen, Ark., died Saturday, October 06, 2012, in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born to Lester Walker and Elsie Lawson Smith in Wesley, Arkansas on September 7, 1921. She lived her early years around Wesley, Arkansas, moving to Yuma, Arizona, where She married Melvin Burges on October 16, 1945. She was a farmer, as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed playing softball, working on the farm, watching TV, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Andrew, Roy, Percy, Keith, Harold, and Charlie Smith, Lorean Barnhill, Katie Neal, Edna Meeks, and Maxine Hubbard, and in 1985, her husband, Melvin Burges.

She is survived by a son, Allen Burges of De Queen, two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Wilburn Morris of Belton, Texas, Lora (Lolly) and Kurt Angerbauer of De Queen, five grandchildren, Stacy, Robert, William, Monty, and Amanda, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Marie Scott of Auburn, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephew.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Colleen Burges will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Octobr 9th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive Friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Laveta Mae Parker Mathis

Laveta Mae Parker Mathis, age 76, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away Friday, October 05, 2012 in Shreveport.

She was born July 14, 1936 in Cove, Arkansas to the late Orval “OD” Delton Parker and the late Lillian Gibbons Parker. Laveta was married to the late Mike Conner Mathis on December 24, 1955 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She attended Ft. Smith Beauty College and was licensed Cosmetologist. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to all who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by: Daughters: Connie Mae Mathis Miller and husband Lee of Shreveport, Louisiana, Gail Lee Mathis and husband Lonny Staggs of De Queen, Arkansas, Michelle Mathis Bruce and husband Denny of Shreveport, Louisiana
Son: David Mathis and wife Elizabeth of Provo, Arkansas
Brother: Delton Parker and wife Louise of Texas
Sister: Darlena Hicks and husband Charles of Shreveport, Louisiana
Twelve Grandchildren and Nineteen Great-grandchildren
Numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, Orval “OD” Delton Parker and Lillian Gibbons Parker, husband, Mike Mathis, son, Ralph Mathis, grandson Michael Mathis and brother Shelton Parker.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Cecil Chapel in Vandervoort, Arkansas with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Rose Mae Pitchford

Rose Mae Pitchford, age 77, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Dierks Health and Rehab.

She was born January 27, 1935 in Holly Creek, Oklahoma. She was retired from Weyerhaeuser and was a Baptist. Mrs. Pitchford loved to fish, hunt, play dominoes and attend softball games.

Mrs. Pitchford was preceded in death by her husband, Elza "Jody" Pitchford; her parents, Joe W. and Jessie Young Goodman; and two sons, Coy Pitchford and Elmer Pitchford.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin and Tammy Pitchford and Roy and Julie Pitchford, all of Dierks; two daughters and sons-in-law, Caroline and Hayes Halcombe of Dierks and Tina and Eldy Richardson of Mabank, Texas; four brothers, James Goodman of Enid, Oklahoma, Minor Goodman of Wright City, Oklahoma, Ted Goodman of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and John Goodman of Valliant, Oklahoma; three sisters, Ruby Partridge of Wright City, Tillie Flowers of Holly Creek and Mattie Johnson of Broken Bow; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Pitchford will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 in the Dierks Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Fant officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the funeral home in Dierks.

James Jessie Parker, Jr.

James Jessie Parker, Jr., age 44, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at his home.

He was born April 6, 1968 in De Queen. He was a former employee of H&H Cattle and Pilgrims Pride and was a Baptist.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Parker Sr., and Margaret Ann Lee Parker;

He is survived by four daughters, Ariel Fattig of Arlington, Texas, D’Andria Parker, Margaret Parker and Mya Parker all of De Queen; three sons, James Jessie Parker III of Texarkana, Arkansas, Denzel Mooreland and Demetrius Parker both of De Queen; 6 brothers, Michael Ross of Decatur, Alabama, Gary Parker, Steven Parker and Ricky Parker all of De Queen, Jessie Parker of Horatio and Earnest Parker of Wewoka, Oklahoma; five sisters, Cynthia Franklin, Margie Hamilton, Debra Easter and Jacquelyn Parker all of De Queen and Jenetta Luster of Dallas, Texas; 5 grandchildren, 4 aunts, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services for James Jessie Parker, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2012 in the New Zion Baptist Church with Minister Sherrie Grant officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandhill Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 6th at the funeral home.

Timothy Joe "Roscoe" Roberts

Timothy Joe "Roscoe" Roberts, age 50, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas died Monday, October 1, 2012 in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born September 29, 1962 in Irving, Texas. He was a supervisor for Tyson Foods and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lockesburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Renee Emmert Roberts; and his grandparents, Necie and Howard Roberts.

He is survived by one brother, Kyle Roberts; one sister and brother-in-law, Christina and Kevin Fatherree, all of Lockesburg; three nephews, Stefan Fatherree, William Roberts and Cameron Roberts.

Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church in Lockesburg with Rev. Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Belleville Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the funeral home.

The family will be at the home of Christina and Kevin Fatherree, 105 Steele Street in Lockesburg.
