Mary Ann Hopson Lacefield

Mrs. Mary Ann Hopson Lacefield, age 85, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, January 3rd in Christus St. Michael's Hospital, Texarkana, Tex.

She was born to Benjamin Stuart and Sarah Elsie Hord Hopson in De Queen, Ark on July 30, 1927. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She enjoyed fishing, sight seeing, and needle work.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Benny Hopson, Naomi Brooks, and Lucille gray, and 2010, her husband, Hubert Lacefield.

She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald F. and Phyllis Lacefield, David Stuart Lacefiled, Curtis Ray and Judy Lacefiled, and Michael Hubert Lacefield all of De Queen, and Jessie M. and Gwenda Lacefield of Broken Bow, Okla., eight grandchildren, Bryan, April, Logan, Christopher, Bradley, Terry, Tony, and Alan; Six great-grandchildren, Eric, Kayla, Jordan, Brooke, Savannah, and Autumn; two sisters, Angeline Penney of De Queen, and Margaret Arms of Winston, Oregon, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ann Lacefield will be held at 2:00P.M., Sunday, January 6, 2012 with Rev. Roy Conatser officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. the family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, January 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Victor Dean White

Mr. Victor Dean White, age 91, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, January 3, 2013 in the Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville, Arkansas.

He was born January 29, 1921 in Alpine, Arkansas. He worked as a Lineman for the Rich Mountain Electric Co-Op for 26 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ for 60 years. He served as Deacon in the 2nd & Deal Church and also at Franklin & Juniper Church both in Borger, Texas.

Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Martha Tollett White; one sister and brother, Laverne White and Kimmel D. White; his wife Vernice Cates White; one son, Billy Dean White and one grandson, Russell Cox.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Cynthia White of Texarkana, AR and David and Jessie White of Dierks, AR; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Vicki and Mark Graves of Texarkana, AR, Donna and Donald Strasner of Umpire, AR Verna and John Jones of Murfreesboro, AR and Betty Griffin of Rockwall, TX; one brother and sister-in-law, Emmett and Beth White of Langley, Ar; 14 grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. White will be held at 3:00p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Burg Church of Christ with Gerald Eaton and Bob Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Bissell Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 4th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Medren Alvarez

Medren Alvarez, age 76, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born July 27, 1936 in El Amate, Guerrero, Mexico. He was a member of the St. Barbara Catholic Church in De Queen.

Mr. Alvarez was preceded in death by his parents, Zaragoza Alvarez and Maria Sotelo.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Ocampo Alvarez, 2 sisters, 11 children, 36 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A vigil service including the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 4th in the Monsignor Scott Friend Pastoral Center.

Funeral Mass for Mr. Alvarez will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Monsignor Scott Friend Pastoral Center at St. Barbara Catholic Church with Father Edward D’ Almeida officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Rosa Lee Cooper Nix

Mrs. Rosa Lee Cooper Nix, age 82, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in De Queen.

She was born October 20, 1930 in Thomasville, Missouri. She was a homemaker, an amazing seamstress, and a member of the Smyrna Church of Christ. She enjoyed keeping her rose garden pristine for the humming birds and her vegetable garden producing more than she could eat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Bona Pearl Derryberry Cooper, one sister and three brothers all of Missouri. As well as her husband of 36 years, Leroy Delbert Nix, of De Queen, Arkansas.

She is survived by three sons, Calvin Dale Cooper of Chester, Arkansas, John Leroy Nix of Horatio, Arkansas, and Kelly William Nix Sr. of Chester, Arkansas; three sisters, Pearl Isabell Etherton of Birch Tree, Missouri, Norma Jean Pohl of St. James, Missouri, and Juanita Jane Wood of Birch Tree; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Nix will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Crosstrails Cemetery with Rev. Charles Krudwig officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at the funeral home.

Opal Roberta James Reese

Mrs. Opal Roberta James Reese, age 96, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in Dierks.

She was born on August 2, 1916 in Nathan, Arkansas. She was a former cafeteria worker for the Dierks Schools and was a member of the Dierks Church of Christ. She loved gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Reese was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Mitchell and Nettie Dowdy Polk; her husbands, William Nance James and Edwin Reese; one daughter, Charlene James Stoner and one step-son, Howard James.

She is survived by four granddaughters, Sheryl, Donna, Sandy, and Rachel James; one daughter-in-law, Ethel James of Missouri; one nephew, Arlan Green of Ashdown, Arkansas and one niece, Doris Kirby of Dierks, Arkansas.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Reese will be held at 10:00a.m., Friday, January 4, 2013 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Casey Clements officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery.

the family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3rd at the funeral home in Dierks.

Leroy Linville

Mr. Leroy Linville, age 82, a resident of Umpire, Arkansas, died Monday, December 31, 2012 at his home.

He was born on August 23, 1930 in Langley, Arkansas. He was a former service man for Synergy Gas Company, a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Umpire.

Mr. Linville was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Pearl Martin Linville; one daughter, Sheila Farias; two brothers, Ray and Tom Linville; two sisters, Ella Sue Campbell and Evelyn Poole and one grandson, Chance Long.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alta Fern Manasco Linville; one daughter, Lisa Linville of Dierks, AR; three sons and daughters-in-law, Master Chief USN Ret. Charles and Debbie Linville of Ft. Worth, TX, Steve and Kathy Linville of Umpire, AR; and Mike and Krista Linville of Foreman, AR; two brothers, Noel Linville of Nashville, AR and Buiel Linville also of Nashville; two sisters, Peggy Stone of Murfreesboro, AR and Jean Reed of Nashville; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Linville will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2013 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Daniel Kaffenberger officiating. Burial will follow in the Galena Cemetery near Umpire.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan 3rd at the funeral home in Dierks.

Madonna V. Bell

Mrs. Madonna V. Bell, age 71, a resident of Foreman, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at her home. She went to be with her Lord after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Madonna was born on December 22, 1941 in Horatio, Arkansas. She was a member of the Foreman First United Methodist Church and requests that all donations in her memory are made to the church.

Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her parents, D.D. and Viola Hector and a nephew, Seth Cook Wilson.

Madonna is survived by her husband of fifty two years, Charles “Buddy” Bell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Rendall Irwin of Foreman, Kristi and Steven Key of Stevensville, Michigan and Kayla and Denny Jackson of Foreman; seven grandchildren, Summer Harrison and husband (Heath), Reed Irwin and wife (Katie), Jared, Zach and Eli Key and Brady and Lucy Jackson; two great grandchildren, Hudson Harrison and Jacob Irwin; one sister and brother-in-law, Dee and Charlie Park of Springhill, Louisiana.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Bell will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in the Foreman First United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the church.

James Andrew Morris

Mr. James Andrew Morris, age 74, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, January 1st in the Brookewood Nursing and Rehab, De Queen.

He was born to Grady Denzil and Sibyl W. Wakley Morris on November 29, 1938 at Umpire, Arkansas. He was a retired contractor, and minister of the gospel. He was a Holiness Minister and former pastor of the West Line Holiness Church, and Cottrell Mission at Stratford, Oklahoma. He enjoyed working, and mowing the yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Frank Dorse, and a grandson, Jason Morris.

He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Sheila Schloh Morris of De Queen, two sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Tammy Morris of De Queen, and Brian and Paula Morris of Nashville, two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Dorse and Shonda K. and Waylon Yandell all of De Queen, eight grandchildren and their spouses, Julian and Deborah Dorse, Andy and LaShana Dorse, Kendra and Jonathan Weeks, Jessica and Jered Alexander, Nick Morris, Korey and Roxey Morris, Blake Yandell, Madison Yandell; thirteen great-grandchildren, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wesley Haynes and Jodi Morris of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Warren and Robin Morris of Alaska, and Butch and Olena Morris of Umpire, Arkansas, five sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Richard Todd of Little Rock, Arkansas, Linda and J. R. Davis of Umpire, Arkansas, Gayla and Donnie Williamson of Wilmer, Alabama, Maxine and Garland Tallant of Horatio, and Judy Seals of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. James Morris will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 4th in the First Assembly of God Church of De Queen with Rev. Orville Cottrell, Bro. Billy Don Weeks, and Bro. Tracy Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery at Umpire, Arkansas. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen on Thursday, January 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Linda Joy Sisk Dinger

Mrs. Linda Joy Sisk Dinger, age 65, a resident of Dierks, and former resident of De Queen, died Saturday, December 29th in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.

She was born to John and Dorothy Sisk at Clebit, Oklahoma on December 21, 1947. She was a 1966 De Queen High School graduate, was a homemaker, and a Christian. She enjoyed walking, cooking and taking care of her family.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy B. “Dottie” and James Sellers of Gillham, Melissa & Rick Williams of Joplin, Missouri, and Rachel Dinger of Joplin, Missouri; three grandchildren, J. T. Sellers and Erica Lynn Sellers of Gillham, and Emma Williams of Joplin, Mo., a sister, Carol of Texas.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Linda Dinger will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 2nd in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rich Lugo officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Chandler Funeral Home. Private burial will be at a later date. Pauline Ward

Pauline Ward, age 91, of Kirby, died Friday, December 28, 2012.

She was born on July 12, 1921 at Daisy, the daughter of Benjamin Hester White and Hattie Pearl Cook White. On October 24, 1941, she was married to Hayden Ward who preceded her in death on May 12, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Ward; and her grandson, Lee Kelly.

A retired school teacher, she was the scorekeeper for Kirby Trojan basketball for many years. She was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Toni Kelly of Kirby; six grandchildren and their spouses, Tina Carver and her husband, Jeff, Mike Ward and his wife, Amy, Tonja Kelly and her husband, John Burge, Heather Brown and her husband, Jeff, Jayme Ward and his wife, Shannon, and Lacey Ward; six great-grandchildren; and her brother, Kermit White of Daisy.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 31, 2012, in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Bobby Golden officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

Interment will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
