Quinn Marie Mathis Stokes

Quinn Marie Mathis Stokes, age 85, a resident of Hot Springs, AR, formerly of Dierks, AR died Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Hot Springs.

She was born October 24, 1927 in Dierks. She was retired from Weyerhaeuser and was a member of the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her parents, Quincy Monroe (Ning) and Ora Bell Townsend Mathis; her husband, Vernon Ben Stokes; and two brothers, Charles Mathis and Tommy Mathis.

She is survived by one son, Ronnie Stokes of Tulsa, OK; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Robert Daniels of Hot Springs, AR; three granddaughters and their spouses, Tarynne and Scott Martin, Tessa and Lee Campbell and Sheri and Mike Gambino; and three great grandchildren, Kalynne Martin, Ethan Campbell and Haley Campbell.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Stokes will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks with David Taylor and Doyle Clifton officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the funeral home in Dierks.

Mary Ann Morgan

Mary Ann Morgan, beloved mother and grandmother, age 55, a resident of Mineral Springs, Arkansas, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in the Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born on April 8, 1957 in Boise, Idaho. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Shiloh Baptist Church in Mineral Springs. Ms. Morgan resided in Mineral Springs for thirty- three years and was raised in Coal Hill, Arkansas where she graduated from high school.

Ms. Morgan was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Kathern Beasley Terherst and two brothers, Butch and Kevin Terherst.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Brandon Smith of Mineral Springs and Stephanie and John Hale of Coal Hill; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Brad Morgan of Lockesburg, Arkansas and Chris and Mandy Morgan of Mineral Springs; two brothers, seven sisters, twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and friends and family.

A memorial service for Ms. Morgan will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., in the Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas with Kenny Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in the Coal Hill Cemetery in Coal Hill, Arkansas.

William Joseph “B.J.” Born

William Joseph “B.J.” Born, age 29, a resident of Haworth, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Little River Memorial Hospital in Ashdown, Arkansas.

He was born March 6, 1984 in Brandon, Florida. He was a painter and a Baptist. B.J. loved music, guitars, to hunt and fish and his sons.

B.J. is survived by his wife, Jessica Fisher Born; two sons, Riley Joseph Born and Robert Aaden McMurry; his parents, Randy Gene and Linda Gail Keeton Born all of Haworth, OK; one brother and sister-in-law, James Earl and Elaine Johnson of Winthrop, AR; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Angie Born and Tracey Born both of Virginia and Melissa Ann Johnson and David Vanhoose of Winthrop, AR; one brother-in-law, Thomas Anthony Woodruff of Malvern, Arkansas; his grandmother, Frances Born of Riverview, FL; his mother-in-law, Paula Ann Woodruff of Smackover, AR; five nieces, 1 great niece, two nephews and many other friends and relatives.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013 in the Pauley Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 15th at the funeral home in De Queen.

Mary Louise Cannon Kesterson

Mrs. Mary Louise Cannon Kesterson, age 79, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Monday, March 11, 2013, in Shreveport, LA.

She was born March 22, 1933 in Lockesburg, AR. She was a homemaker, loved traveling with her husband across this country and a Baptist.

Mrs. Kesterson was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Willamina Wilson Cannon; her husband, Donald Ray Kesterson; one grandson, Robert Kesterson and one brother, Bob Cannon.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and Valerie Kesterson of Bossier City, LA, Jerry and Lacey Kesterson of Grapeland, TX, and Jeff and Kathy Kesterson of Birmingham, AL; one daughter, Janet Kesterson of Ponotoc, MS; one sister, Faye Davis of Hot Springs, AR; 7 grandchildren, Ken and wife Lisa Carden, Tiffany Kesterson, Austin and wife Ashley Kesterson, Jessica and husband Lance Lane, and Joshua and Jacob Kesterson; four great-grandchildren, Landon, Allie, Caleb and Aubrey and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Kesterson will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Tom Turnbow officiating. Burial will follow in the Burg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 13th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Mildred Jean Bayles Bailey

Mrs. Mildred Jean Bayles Bailey, age 64, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Monday, March 11, 2013, in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born to Jim Ray and Nora Virginia Cowen Bayles at Atoka, Oklahoma, on February 4, 1949. She was a former employee of Pilgrim’s Pride as well as a homemaker. She was a Baptist, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a avid Elvis Presley fan, and also enjoyed fishing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Ray Bayles, Bessie Pennick, and Tootsie Mae Bayles, two sons, Frankie Lee Allen and Jeremy Bailey, and a grandson, Cody Lynn Bailey.

She is survived by her husband, Charles D. “Bud” Bailey of Horatio, two sons and Daughters-in-law, Charles D., Jr. and Tammy Bailey of Durant, Okla., Charles Edwin and Maria Bailey of Sweet Home, Oregon, four daughters and sons-in-law, Elvie Mae Scott of Durant, Okla., Bessie Louis and Johnny Bailey, Nina and Billy Bailey both of Horatio, and Nora E. and Richie Wells of Wickes, Ark., one brother, Walter Bayles of Atoka, Okla, one sister, Ella Faye McAlister of Seminole, Okla; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, De Queen, with Bro. Walter Vaughn officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Luther Milford Sanders

Mr. Luther Milford Sanders, age 86, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, in the Brookewood Nursing & Rehab, De Queen.

He was born to Ben and Hattie Mae Power Sanders in Little River County, Arkansas, on August 21, 1926. He was a retired employee of Pilgrim’s Pride retiring in 2009 with 53 years service. He was a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking, and blacksmithing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Luther Sanders, Jr., and a son-in-law, Jerry Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Dixon Sanders of De Queen, two sons and daughters-in-law, Glen and Tammye Sanders of Lockesburg, and Bobby and Carolyn Pressley of Eagletown, Okla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Jackson of De Queen, and Cindy and Daniel Lamb of Silver Dale, Washington, three sisters and a brother-in-law, Joann Stringfellow of Horatio, Edith and Wayne Byers of Texarkana, Ark., and Ruby Horne of Lawton, Okla.; six grandchildren, Justin Sanders of De Queen, Tanner Bryan of Lockesburg, Jeffery Lamb and Steven Lamb both of Washington, Scott Pressley of Dixon, Tenn., and Mandy Pressley of Texarkana, and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 13th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Homer Frachiseur officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Paul Terry King

Mr. Paul Terry King, age 62, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas died Saturday, March 9, 2013, in the Brookewood Nursing and Rehab in De Queen, Arkansas.

He was born August 6, 1950 in Houston, Texas and was baptized into the Church of Our Lord in 1970. He was a song writer and musician.

Mr. King was preceded in death by his mother, Ima Jeanne Smith Biggers; granddaughter, Callie Brook King and a sister, Jill McWhorter.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Elizabeth Slay King; father and stepmother, Paul Tom and Frances King of Lockesburg; six children, Paul Terry King, Jr. of Lockesburg, Leslie Faye Stripling of Hope, Arkansas, Erica Jean Azar of Houston, Shayla Lux of Shreveport, Louisiana, Jamie Renee King of Lockesburg and Chris Owen of Austin, Texas; six brothers and sisters, Lynne Davis, Marlowe King, Shelia Jester, Steve Cunningham and Sonja Parrish all of Lockesburg and Stueart Cunningham of De Queen and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. King will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in the Lockesburg Presbyterian Church with Terri Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lockesburg Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 11th at the funeral home.

Betty Alice Cowan Hollis

Mrs. Betty Alice Cowan Hollis, age 73, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, March 09, 2013, at her home.

She was born to Albert and Alice Tarver Cowan at Ferriday, Louisiana, on May 5, 1939. She was a retired farmer and school bus driver, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of Dunbarton Baptist Church at Dunbarton, LA, who enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, and animals.

Mrs. Hollis was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Edith Cowan, Virgil Cowan, Bill Cowan, Curtis Cowan, Irvin Cowan and Raymond Cowan.

She is survived by her husband of over fifty years, Max M. Hollis of De Queen, two sons, Mark Hollis and his partner, Michael Mann of Lockesburg, and Shaun Hollis, and his wife, Kriss of Rayville, Louisiana, four grandchildren and their spouses, Sam and his wife, Madison Mann of Anchorage, Alaska, Jaime and his wife, Rebecca Hollis of Start, La., and Sarah Hollis and Charles Maxwell Hollis both of Rayville, La., two great-grandchildren, Brayden Hollis and Amanda Hollis of Start, La., four brothers, John Cowan, Jeff Cowan, and Harvey Cowan all of Ferriday, La., and Earl Cowan of Clovis, New Mexico, one sister, Dorothy Guice of Ferriday, La., and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are under direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Betty Jean Wade

Betty Jean Wade, age 84, a resident of Texarkana, Texas, formerly of Foreman, Arkansas, died Monday, May 6, 2013 at her home.

She was born October 28, 1928 in Foreman, Arkansas. She was a retired beautician, a member of the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, attended Moore’s Lane Baptist Church, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Wade was preceded in death by her parents, Frank B. and Callie J. Johnson Walton; her husbands, Merle Claussen and Brit Wade, Sr.; one son, Brit Wade and one grandson, Chase Claussen.

She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Rhonda Peters of Little Rock, Arkansas, Deanna and Marty Phillips and Kathy Claussen all of Texarkana, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Lanelle Claussen also Texarkana, Texas; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Wade will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the Dollarhide Cemetery with Scotty Smith officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, AR.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7th at the funeral home.

Robert Wayne “Bob” Moseley

Robert Wayne “Bob” Moseley passed away at his home in De Queen, Arkansas, on May 4, 2013, from prostate/liver cancer.

He was born on February 10, 1945, in Ft. Riley, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy and Wade Moseley.

He is survived by his sister, Dotty Moseley of Garland, Texas; two grandsons, Richard and his wife, Chasity Moseley and Jonathan Moseley and two great grandchildren, Chandler and Warren, all of Tennessee.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
