Mrs. Geraldine Lawler Eldridge

Mrs. Geraldine Lawler Eldridge, age 66, a resident of Eagletown, Oklahoma, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at her home.

She was born on November 15, 1946 to Givens Eugene and Wilma Jean McNeal Lawler, in Eagletown, Oklahoma. She was retired owner of Magic Comb Beauty Salon, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church, De Queen, and enjoyed cooking, her church, and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Sonny Moore, a great-grandson, Kason, and her mother-in-law, Mildred McMillian.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Eldridge, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charlie and Tina Eldridge of Texarkana, Texas, and George Eldridge of Eagletown, Okla. three daughters and sons-in-law, Jerri and Donnie Golden of Hope, Arkansas, Terri and Neil Owen of Eagletown, Okla, and Sherri “Peanut” Eldridge also of Eagletown, nine grandchildren, Jerha, Wylie, Dustin, Andrew, Ashley, Bryan, Chance, Chase, and Aunna, five great-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Ann Lawler of Eagletown, and a sister and brother-in-law,, Deana and Mack Hendon of Durant, Okla. She is also survived by her husband’s family, a brother-in-law David McMillian and his wife, Diana of Hot Springs, and a sister-in-law, Sharon, and her husband, Bob Lincoln of Haworth, Okla., and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Geraldine Eldridge will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 6th in the Chapel Hill Baptist Church, De Queen with Rev. Tommy Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery, De Queen, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Sunday, May 5th from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.

Roy Randall Vann

Roy Randall Vann, Sr. age 89, resident of Tyler, TX, formerly of De Queen, AR passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas.

He was born January 20, 1924 in Royce City, TX to the late Carrie and Joseph Vann.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater in the US Army and was decorated with several awards for his service. He was a Mason and a member of the Church of Christ, and was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He had a degree in Engineering from the University of Houston and was an inventor and entrepreneur with numerous patents. He was coined “Father of Invention” and created a paradigm shift in the oil field industry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Billie Ruth Freeman Vann, his brother, Coy Vann, and his son Rodney Vann. He is survived by his wife, June Crockett Morrison Vann; his 3 sons, Dudley Vann, Roy Vann, Jr. and Randy Vann; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Vann will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen, AR with David Jacobs and Homer Frachiseur officiating. Burial will follow in the Gillham Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7th at the funeral home.

Mr. Harris Keith Kramer

Mr. Harris Keith Kramer, age 66, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in the Brookewood Nursing and Rehab Center in De Queen.

He was born August 19, 1946, in Eldora, Iowa. He was a retired forester for Weyerhaeuser, and a Vietnam veteran.

Mr. Kramer was preceded in death by his father, Lester Kramer; one niece, Lisa Thiermann and his brother-in-law, Jim Thiermann.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Morris Kramer; two daughters and their spouses, KeKe and Niki Stafford of De Queen and Amy and Brian McLelland of Tyler, Texas; one son and his spouse, Michael and Kacie Kramer of De Queen; his mother, Reika Kramer of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one sister, Linda Thiermann also of Cedar Falls; one brother, Les Kramer of Chesapeake, Virginia; four grandchildren, Kylie and Spencer Bowens and Morgan and Keira Kramer all of De Queen and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 3rd at the funeral home.

Judy Ann Higgins Moss

Judy Ann Higgins Moss, age 60, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in the Brookewood Nursing and Rehab Center in De Queen.

She was born December 26, 1952 in De Queen, Arkansas. She was the activity director for the Guest House Nursing Home in Shreveport, LA, certified auxiliary deputy sheriff with the Caddo Parrish Sheriff’s office, a member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church in De Queen and attended the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church in Mena, AR.

Mrs. Higgins was preceded in death by her parents, Pinckney Earl and India Mae Logan Higgins and her husband, Ben Moss.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Felicia Huff of Mena, AR and Phillip and Cynthia Huff of Hatfield, AR; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Vickie Higgins of Horatio, AR; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Higgins will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2013 in the Mt. Ida Cemetery with Rev. George Frachiseur and Pastor Scott Jones officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, AR.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2nd at the funeral home.

Evelyn Vaught Baber

Evelyn Vaught Baber completed her journey here on earth on April 27, 2013 at her home in Umpire at the age of 86.
She was born on October 15, 1926 at Oden, Arkansas, the youngest child to the late Harry and Eva Vaught. She was of the Baptist faith. She was united in marriage to Maurice M. Baber, who preceded her in death and was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. Mrs. Baber enjoyed her word puzzles and gardening, and loved to be outside, working in her flower beds. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Steven Baber of Umpire; three grandchildren, Amber Brianne Hodges and husband Will of Stillwater, OK., and Joshua Adam Baber and Matthew Darren Baber, both of San Marcos, TX. Also surviving are 4 nephews, 4 nieces and a host of friends, and a very special friend, May Pate, who was so very good to help Evelyn in so many ways.
Also preceded her in death were her three sisters, Iva Miller, La Doris McMellon and Ethel Green, her brother, Ray Vaught, and 5 nephews, Darrell and Elton McMellon, Gene Miller and Harold and Joe Green.
Graveside services will be Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Center Cemetery at Hartley.with Brother John Henry Williams officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday evening, May 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Tabor, David Krantz, Cory Carter, Jason O Neal, Gary McMellon and Ron Anderle.

Kenneth Ray “Kenny” Jeanes

Kenneth Ray “Kenny” Jeanes, 11year old son of Donnie and Donna Jeanes, a resident of Horatio, died Thursday, April 25th in the Arkansas Children’s Hospital at Little Rock.

He was born in De Queen, Arkansas on May 16, 2001. He was a sixth grader at Horatio Elementary, and a member of the Dilworth Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Horatio. He enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, Xbox, fishing, hunting, water, camping, and just being outside.

Besides his parents, Kenny is survived by two sisters, Nicole Jeanes and Krissy Jeanes both of Horatio, and his grandparents, Peggy Taylor and Robert Neugebauer of Horatio, and David and Charla Conatser also of Horatio, and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services for Kenny Jeanes will be held at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 30th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Byron Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Millwee Cemetery, Horatio, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, April 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Pauline Manns Grubbs

Pauline Manns Grubbs, age 81, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Friday, April 26, 2013 in the Dierks Health & Rehab.

She was born March 19, 1932 in Snowball, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a Christian.

Mrs. Grubbs was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gladys Jackson Manns; and her husband, Grady Edward Grubbs.

She is survived by seven sons, Larry Grubbs of Joplin, MO, Jerry Grubbs of Grove City, MN, Randy Grubbs of Dierks, Rickey Grubbs of Delight, AR, Carl Grubbs of Dierks, Glenn Grubbs of Lockesburg, AR, and Craig Grubbs of De Queen; six daughters, Paula Fugitt of Dierks, Martha Grubbs of Horatio, AR, Linda House of Lockesburg, Lisa Grubbs of Dierks, Julie Stallsworth of Hatton, AR and Karen Burnett of Dierks; two brothers, Richard Manns of Dolan Springs, AZ and Hubert Lee Manns of Clearlake, CA; one sister, Nettie Mae Prestridge of Cisco, TX; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Grubbs will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Bobby Tatum, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Dierks Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the funeral home in De Queen

Lawrence M. Hill

Lawrence M. Hill, age 96, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Thursday, April 25, 2013 in the Brookewood Nursing Center in De Queen.

He was born March 6, 1917 in Umpire, Arkansas. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser and was a member of the Liberty Hill Church of Christ.

Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland and Alice Ethel Carter Hill; his wife, Viola Hill; one son, Marlin Hill; and a brother, Lewis Hill.

He is survived by one daughter, Marie Shiro of Mena, Arkansas; one brother, Marvin Hill of Dierks, Arkansas; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Wilma Morris of De Queen; 4 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Hill will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2013 in the Burg Cemetery with Tommy Mounts and David Smith officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Sarah Charlene Gray Rankin

Mrs. Sarah Charlene Gray Rankin, age 89, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in the Brookewood Nursing Center.

She was born May 8, 1923 in Amity, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Horatio United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Opal Stephens Gray; and her husband, J.D. Rankin.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Linda Rankin of Horatio; one brother, Don Gray of Georgetown, Texas; one sister, Wanda Orr of Springdale, Arkansas; two grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, Derek and Crystal Rankin and Darren Rankin; two great granddaughters; Cassady and Kinley Rankin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Rankin will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 in the Millwee Cemetery with Rev. Terry Chapman officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Juanita Willbanks

Juanita Willbanks, a resident of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away at Arkansas Hospice in Mercy Hospital on April 22, 2013, at the age of 86. She was a loving Wife, Daughter, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, and friend to many.

Juanita was born on November 5, 1926, in Winthrop, Arkansas, to S. H. and Bertha Kesterson. She graduated from Winthrop High School and married James E. Willbanks, in 1946 after he returned from WWII. They were married for 58 years. After they worked for a period of time in California, James re-enlisted in the Army and for the next twenty-three years, they lived all over the United States and in Germany, along the way raising three children. After her husband’s retirement from the military, they lived in Hot Springs where he worked as a master chef at the Avanelle Restaurant and she worked at Levi Hospital. They retired to Ashdown in 1984 and returned to Hot Springs in 2002, where they resided at Country Club Village. She continued to live there after her husband passed away in 2004.

She attended Oaklawn Methodist and Piney Grove United Methodist. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, bingo, reading, dressing up for Halloween, and visiting with her family.

She is lovingly remembered by her brothers, S. H. Kesterson, Jr., and Bobby Wayne Kesterson of Winthrop, her daughter, Sue Willbanks Wilson of Hot Springs; and her sons, James H. Willbanks of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Donald E. Willbanks of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous loving relatives and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband; her son-in-law, Mr. John Wilson of Hot Springs; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Willbanks Schaad of Leavenworth, Kansas.

The visitation will be held 10:30-12:00, Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home, 403 West Stilwell Avenue, in De Queen, Arkansas. The graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Campground Cemetery in Winthrop, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Hospice In-Patient Center, 300 Werner Street, Hot Springs, AR 71913.

Dasha Esmeralda R. Mar

Dasha Esmeralda R. Mar, of Blevins, Arkansas, passed from this life on Friday, April 19, 2013, at the age of 1 month and 13 days, in the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope, Arkansas.

She was born March 6, 2013, in Texarkana, Texas. She was Catholic.

Dasha is survived by her parents, Leoncio Mar and Anita Garza; one sister and two brothers, Ana, Miguel and Axel Hernandez of Blevins; Maternal Grandmother, Patra Rubio of De Queen, Arkansas; Paternal Grandparents, Efrain Mar and Leonor Castillo of Mexico; five uncles; Leonardo Mar of Mexico, Roy Garza, Ricky Garza, Gerardo Villalba and Jesus Rubio all of De Queen; a cousin Anthony Garza and many other family and friends.

A Rosary and vigil service will be held in the Monsignor Scott Friend Pastoral Center at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

Funeral Mass for Dasha will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in the Monsignor Scott Friend Pastoral Center at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in De Queen with Father Edward D’Almeida officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery in De Queen, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
