Mrs. Mildred Dorothy Reese

Mrs. Mildred Dorothy Reese, age 90, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, in Horatio.

She was born September 15, 1922, in Haddam, Kansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Horatio Church of Christ.

Mrs. Reese was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Idlet Lignitz; her husband, George W. Reese, Sr.; one son, George W. Reese, Jr.; four brothers and one sister.

She is survived by one son, Buddy Reese of Apple Valley, California; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Scotty Smith of Winthrop, Arkansas, Barbara and Charles Kissinger and Carol and Gene Cobb all of Horatio; one sister, Vera Spatig of Indianapolis, Indiana; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Reese will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013 in the Horatio Church of Christ with Virgil Romine and Van Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 31st at the funeral home.

Janice Kay Crawford Castillo

Mrs. Janice Kay Crawford Castillo, age 54, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at her home.

She was born December 16, 1958 in Greeley, Colorado. She was a homemaker and a Southern Baptist.

Mrs. Castillo was preceded in death by her father, J.B. Crawford and a daughter, Barbara Jane Hodge.

She is survived by her mother, Barbara O'Neal Gray Crawford of Lockesburg, Arkansas; one daughter, Sandy Baskins of Burnsville, Mississippi; one grandson, Dusty Crawford of Lockesburg; three sisters, Effie John and Jazmine Crawford both of Lockesburg, Jackie Sexton of Texarkana; one brother, Alvin Dale Crawford of Indiana; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Mrs. Castillo will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013 in the Redmen Cemetery in De Queen, Arkansas under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 31st at the funeral home.

Terry Lee Ballard

Mr. Terry Lee Ballard, age 57, a resident of Lockesburg, died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at his home.

He was born on August 2, 1955, at Pontiac Michigan. he was a cook and a member of the Old Time Gospel Church. he enjoyed going fishing and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ballard and his dad, Russell Ballard.

Terry is survived by his wife, Debbie Ballard of Lockesburg, four sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher lee and Kimberly Ballard of Lockesburg, Terry lee Ballard, jr. and Stephanie of Pasadena, Texas, William Kenneth Schrank of hot Springs Arkansas' a step-son Fred, jr. and Tiffeny Schrank of Coelman, Michigan; three daughters: Amy and Scott Smart of Lockesburg, Tina Ballard of Pasadena, Texas, Shannon and Destin Meadors of Springdale, Arkansas' his mother and step-father, Nadine and Dale Bizzell of Lockesburg; one brother and sister-in-law, don and Kathy Ballard of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; four sisters: Judy and Royce Steed of Mineral Springs, Arkansas, Jo Ann and Chuck martin of Lockesburg, Carol and Jim Stockman of Texarkana, Texas, and Pam and Wayne Warden of East Bend North Carolina; seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral services for Mr. Terry Ballard will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in the Old Time Gospel Church of Lockesburg, Arkansas with Rev. Jerrell Helms officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulter memorial Gardens, Lockesburg, Arkansas. Visitation will be Monday, July 20th from 6;00-8:00 p.m. at the Old Time Gospel Church.

Lois Marie Beasley Simmons

Mrs. Lois Marie Beasley Simmons, age 85, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at her home.

She was born March 15, 1928 in Foreman, Arkansas. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Herman Simmons; son, Jake Doyle Simmons; parents, Charles and Nora B. Beasley; sister, Margie Hope and daughter-in-law, Sherry Ruthie Simmons.

She is survived by one grandson, Jake Brandon Simmons and fiancé Angela Green of Winthrop; one granddaughter, Sherri Hall and husband Johnny of De Queen, Arkansas; eight great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Mrs. Simmons will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2013 in the Blackland Cemetery near Foreman with Gary Steiner officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Ralph Wayne Miller

Mr. Ralph Wayne Miller, age 74, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Friday, July 26th at his home.

He was born to Walter and Iva Vaught Miller on September 4, 1938 at Mena, Arkansas. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser Company at Dierks, and owned and operated a lawn service. He was a member of the Old Center Holiness Church. He enjoyed yard work, and his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Roy Gene Miller.

He is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Martha Mae Burkhart Miller of De Queen, two sisters, Lois Renfro of Kentucky and Madean Pearce of Mena, and number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ralph Miller will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 28th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dale Crawford, Bro. Billy Don Weeks, and Bro. Donny Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Cove, Ark., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Hal Franklin Crews

Mr. Hal Franklin Crews, age 80, a resident of Little Rock, Arkansas, died July 20, 2013 at his home.

He was born May 6, 1933. He was retired from Equifax, was a 1955 graduate of the Arkansas Polytechnic College and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Crews was preceded in death by his parents, Hal and Faye Morris Crews.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date in the Clear Creek Cemetery.

Sue Griffin Dorsey Patterson Mumma

Mrs. Sue Griffin Dorsey Patterson Mumma, age 79, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.

She was born to Bennie Franklin and Callie Ann Ayers Griffin on March 8, 1934. She was a retired pastor of the Pentecostal Church of God, a Licensed Practical Nurse and a homemaker. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Josh Patterson, and George Mumma, her children, Larry Dorsey, Fredia Dorsey, and Tim Patterson, her parents, and her brothers, Hubert Griffin, John “Toots” Griffin, Clarence “Doodle” and Kenneth Griffin.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Dewayne and Renate Dorsey of Granite, Oklahoma, and Marty D. Dorsey of Tuttle, Okla., one brother and sister-in-law, Bennie and Martie Griffin of De Queen, one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Kenneth St. John of Grannis, Arkansas, a special friend, Billie Goodson of Lancaster, Texas, six grandchildren, Misty, Alex, Shannon, Chad, Ricky, and Amber, and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral Services for Mrs. Sue Mumma will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 29th In the Old Center Cemetery with Bro. Ralph Staggs officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28th at Chandler Funeral Home.

Charley Edison “Chuck” Morris

Mr. Charley Edison “Chuck” Morris, age 69, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at his home.

He was born February 17, 1944 in Dierks. He retired from Weyerhaeuser after thirty-two years and was a Baptist.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elsie Bookout Morris; one brother, Sonny Morris and two sisters, Betty Brown and June Estep.

He is survived by his wife, Flossie Uhrick Morris, one daughter, Teresa Louise Morris of Newhope, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Marty Allen Morris and Crystal of Dierks; three grandchildren, Tyler Howard, Savannah and Hunter Morris; several nieces and nephews.

Private family services for Mr. Morris will be held at a later date.

Bobby Joe Tollett

Mr. Bobby Joe Tollett, age 75, a resident of Provo, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the home of his brother, Jerry Tollett.

He was born to Edgar William and Edna Freda McWhorter Tollett on September 26, 1937 in Lockesburg, Arkansas. He was a graduate of Lockesburg High School, and East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. He taught chemistry in Stockdale, and Charlotte, Texas, Japan, Turkey, Germany, Arkansas High, and Lockesburg. He was an avid reader and would read every word of a newspaper and subscribed to many magazines. In addition to teaching school, he was a farmer and rancher, cattle, hay, chickens, and hogs.

Mr. Tollett loved the Lord and as a young person, he became a Christian and joined McHorse Baptist Church. At the time of his death, he served as an Elder in the Falls Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Maxine DeVasier Willis, nephew, Corporal Billy Keith DeVasier, and great-nephews, Conner and Kyle Lombardo.

He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Geri Tollett of Provo, and Benny and Liz Tollett of Texarkana, Ark., a sister and brother-in-law, Katy and Chris Elkins of Texarkana, Ark., special friends, Kennith and Ann Keith of Falls Chapel, Ark., nephews and nieces, Kimberly Ward, Lisa and Jason Chandler, Lori and Justin Forsgren, Kevin and Julie Gunnels, Sherra and Tony Lombardo, Wayne Tollett, Christy and Jay Bolling, Tammy Elkins, Doug and Patricia Elkins, Ken and Fran Elkins, Hollis and Gwen DeVasier, Danny and Shona DeVasier, Patricia and Darren Higgins, Cheryl McKellar, David Keith, Lisa Miller, Lori Chambless, and John Keith as well as a number of great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bobby Joe Tollett will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 27th in the Pleasant Hill (McHorse) Missionary Baptist Church, Provo, Arkansas, with Bro. Larry Fry, Bro. Kenny Polk, and Bro. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the McHorse Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Falls Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, or the Falls Chapel Cemetery, C/O Kennith Keith, 182 Hunter Falls Loop, Lockesburg, Ark. 71846, or to the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church or McHorse Cemetery, C/O Fred Cox, 1760 Provo Road, Lockesburg, Arkansas 71846.

Therissa “Teri” Golden

Therissa “Teri” Golden, age 64, a resident of Foreman, Arkansas died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at her home.

She was born November 23, 1948, in Jasper, Texas. She was a homemaker and a self-taught artist. She loved to teach art in every medium. She had a great love of the whole outdoors and fishing.

Mrs. Golden was preceded in death by her parents, Ivos Jett “Red” and Billie Jean Alexander Gorman; and a great grandson, Asher Kade Vallee.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Mike Golden of Foreman; one daughter and son-in-law, Angela Raina Golden Tyree and her husband Carl; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Michael Golden and his wife Kathi, and Jason Reeves Golden and his wife Beverly; two sisters, Patricia Gorman Treadway and her husband David, and Virginia Gorman Rankin and her husband Jamie; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews and a special niece.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Golden will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in the Golden Family Cemetery with Hershel Lee officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mrs. Juanita Viola Morgan Hess

Mrs. Juanita Viola Morgan Hess, age 82, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 in the Little River Memorial Hospital in Ashdown.

She was born November 19, 1930 in Winthrop. She was a retired lunch room supervisor for Winthrop Schools and a member of the Community of Christ Church.

Mrs. Hess was preceded in death by her parents, Albert May and Lorena Anderson Morgan; her husband, Elmer Wayne Hess; 8 brothers and sisters and one granddaughter, Sonia Anderson.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Charlie Martin of Winthrop; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Wayne and Sally Hess of Huntsville, Alabama, Terry Allen and Melba Hess and Ricky Dean and Sharon Hess all of Winthrop; three brothers, Roland Bush of Foreman, Arkansas, Ray Morgan of Montrose, Colorado and Leroy Morgan of Cookville, Texas; two sisters, Wilmuth Wright of Ashdown, Arkansas and Mary Kesterson of Winthrop; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hess will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Leroy Morgan, Lori Smith, Jimmy Dale and Ellis Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, July 22nd at the funeral home in De Queen.
