Blanton

Melba June Blanton, 60, of Jonesboro died Monday, Aug. 30, at St. Elizabeth's Place in Jonesboro.

She was born at Atkins and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Shawna Hill of Jonesboro; two sisters, Barbara Stroud of Jonesboro and Mary Emerson of Longview, Texas; one brother, Freddie Treadaway of Yukipa, Calif.; and one grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene in Paragould, with the Rev. Eudell Stroud officiating. The body will be cremated, and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 106 Plum St., Paragould 72450.

Bradley

SEARCY -- Funeral services for Betty Jo Flinton Bradley, 74, of Searcy, who died Monday, Aug. 30, have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home at Searcy.

The Rev. Mike Morey will officiate, and burial will follow in White County Memorial Gardens.

Born at Oklahoma City, she was a member of First United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi and PEO, an organization for which she served as chapter president at Aurora, Mo. She was a hospital volunteer at Aurora.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Burt Bradley of the home; one son, Dr. Sam B. Bradley of Fort Smith; two daughters, Dr. Neta Bradley Wood of Jonesboro and Sharon Bradley Hill of Jackson, Tenn.; two brothers, three sisters; and six grandchildren, Drew Bradley and Morgan Bradley York, both of Fort Smith, Douglas Wood and Stephanie Wood, both of Jonesboro, and Jennifer Hill and Jonathan Hill, both of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 304 North Main St., Searcy, or to Hospice Home Care, 106 South Spring St., in honor of nurse's aides Darlene Webb and Amy Usery.

Elmore

LAS VEGAS -- Gideon Elmore, 87, of Las Vegas, formerly of Paragould died Thursday, Aug. 26, at Kindred Hospital in Las Vegas.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was employed in security at Boeing Aircraft, where he worked with astronaut John Glenn. He was a founding board member of the Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include a son, Frank J. Elmore of Los Angeles; a sister, Stella Cole of St. Louis; a granddaughter, Lisa Young; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Brandt Elmore; one daughter, Roseann Hudson; and his parents.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Finch Cemetery, with Jim McNeil officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Fields

HORSESHOE BEND -- Perry Lee "Shorty" Fields, 58, of Horseshoe Bend, died Saturday, Aug. 28, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

He was born in Bakersfield, Calif.

Survivors include one brother, Noah "Junior" Orr of Porterville, Calif.; and one sister, Vickie Marie Fields of Horseshoe Bend.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Pine Log Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenny Crafton officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will include George Parker, Robert Medcalf, Kevin Fields, John McLelland and Kevin McDole.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Hall

Kathryn Jane Hall, 68, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Aug. 31, at NEA Medical Center.

She was born in Whitton.

Survivors include her husband, J.C. Hall of the home; three sons, J.C. Hall Jr., J.T. Hall and Jimmy Hall, all of Jonesboro; two daughters, Mary Dorton and Diane Wilson, both of Jonesboro; two brothers, Frank Cavitt of West Memphis and Buddy Burress of Tyronza; two sisters, Vickey Baney of Jonesboro and Opal Lindley of Joiner; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ted Cavitt; her mother, Easter Cavitt; and two brothers.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Pine Hill Cemetery, with Jay Cox officiating. Roller-Farmers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will include Darrell Vaughn, Hillard Holcomb, Donnie Thomas, Dennis Long, Keith Render and Owen Lovins.

Lewis Oneal, Bruce Tate, Carl Bragg and Jerry Smith will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society, in care of Gaye Roach, P.O. Box 9192, Jonesboro 72403-9192.

Hayse

Mildred L. Hayse, 80, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Aug. 31, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Jones

Patsy Jo Jones, 60, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Aug. 31, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Kinningham

Patty Gene Stone Kinningham, 77, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Aug. 31, at her home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Smith

BYRON, Mich. -- Herbert R. "Jolly" Smith, 72, of Byron, formerly of Fenton, Mich., died Saturday, Aug. 7, at his residence.

Born at Black Oak, he had lived in Fenton before moving to Byron in 2002 and worked 20 years as a press operator for Fisher Body, General Motors. He retired in 1981 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Otisville, Mich., the Elf Khurafeh Shrine and United Auto Workers.

Survivors include a son, Barton Smith of Byron; four sisters, Margie Lucille Skinner of Flint, Mich., Bessie Leona Nall and Mabel Beatrice Adams, both of Lake City, and Lillian Corene Robbins of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Huston Smith of Paragould; and two grandsons, Zachary Smith and Spencer Smith.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sept. 11 at Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland.

Streeter Funeral Home of Byron is in charge of arrangements.

Willmuth

Opal Louise Cureton Willmuth, 92, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Aug. 31, at SkilCare Nursing Center in Jonesboro.

Born at Cash, she taught school for 43 years in Craighead and Jackson counties, retiring in 1970. She was a member of Swifton Church of Christ and the Arkansas Education Association and was a former member of the Newport Business and Professional Women's Club.

Survivors include two nephews, Tommy Cureton and Bill Cureton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Jessie Willmuth, and her parents, William Allen and Dora Ann Burns Cureton.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Swifton Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
