Rev. Carrol LeVon “Bub” Foster

Rev. Carrol LeVon “Bub” Foster, age 80, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born to Curtis Hill and Leta Vade Harrell Foster in Trinity, Texas, on January 14, 1933.

He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was a retired Missionary Baptist minister; pastoring in Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi for 43 years. He was an active member of the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and also knife making and gunsmithing for family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, L. V. Foster, and a sister, Edith Dwaynne Hopper.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Marguerite Griffith Foster of De Queen three sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Keith and Roxieann Foster of Ripley, Miss., Rev. Kyle and Holly Foster of Three Rivers, Michigan, and Kevin Foster of De Queen, a daughter and son-in-law, Rene’ and Vernon Reed of Glenwood, Ark., 16 grandchildren, Keith, Linda, Dana, Jarrod, Jason, Adam, Tyler, Zack, Nathan, Bryan, Clay, Aron, David, Christopher, Tabitha and Megan; nine great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Rev. Carrol Foster will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 3rd in the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Foster, Rev. Kyle Foster, and Rev. Travis Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 2nd from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M

Mr. Wayne Fenton

Mr. Wayne Fenton, age 73, a resident of Texarkana, Arkansas, and former resident of Horatio, died Friday, June 28th at his home.

He was born to Sherman C. and Lois Loraine Casteel Fenton in Horatio, Arkansas, on October 13, 1939. Wayne served in the military with the U. S. Army. He was a radio announcer, an electrician, and was retired from Domtar Paper Mill, Ashdown. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Horatio, and enjoyed coin collecting, knife collection, and going to Albert Pike.

He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Lynn Fenton, Bobby Fenton, Sr., and a nephew, Nicky Fenton.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Courtney and Jonathan Bard of Texarkana, Texas, and Shelly and Jimmy Ray Gentry of De Queen, his mother, Lois Fenton of Pine Bluff, Ark., four grandchildren, Morgan Bard, Jackson Bard, Addison Bard, and Halley Gentry, A sister and brother-in-law, Lola and Sterling Henry of Dumas, Arkansas, and a number of nieces and nephews, as well as other family members.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, June 30th in Horatio Cemetery with Bro. Coy Arnold officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home Saturday, June 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M

Jane Monroe

Jane Monroe, age 96, of Texarkana, Texas formerly of Shreveport, Louisiana, died, Friday, June 28, 2013 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born June 21, 1917 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a sales clerk for J.C. Penney and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shreveport.

Miss Monroe was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence N. and Maggie Gilmore Monroe.

She is survived by three nieces and a nephew, Carolyn Jackson and husband Doyle of Hooks, Texas, Claudette Roberts and husband Jim of Wake Village, Texas, Kay Spanberger and husband Ed of Noble, Louisiana and Larry Johnson of McKinney, Texas.

Private family graveside services for Miss Monroe will be officiated by Rev. Cranford Graves and will be under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in DeQueen.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Shreveport.

Mrs. Sharon Jean Blanc Cox

Mrs. Sharon Jean Blanc Cox, age 70, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in Brookewood Nursing Home.

She was born to Frank Joseph and Irene Nix Blanc in Denver, Colorado, on November 3, 1942. She was retired from the De Queen School System, as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed embroidery, puzzles, and word puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Odell Cox.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Clifford and Noel Simpson of Bennett, Colorado, Doug and Pamela Simpson of De Queen, and Steven Eugene Simpson of Arvada, Colorado, a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Lee and Ron Roybal of Westminster, Colorado, twelve grandchildren, Harmony, Hannah, Marcus, Chastity, Leyon, Shantae, Julia, Ashley, Josh, Cameron, Kellan, and Carley, ten great-grandchildren, two brothers, Charles Blanc of Arvada, Colorado, and Joseph Blanc of Lakewood, Colorado, two sisters, Jacqueline Ferguson of Alabama, and Earlene Vidoz of Coronado, California.

A Memorial gathering will be held at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, in the Timberidge Apartments Community Room. Cremation arrangements under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. You may send an online sympathy message at www.chandlerfuneral.com

Dr. Karl Dan Moser

Dr. Karl Dan Moser, age 70, a resident of Little River Club, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 In Brookewood Nursing & Rehab.

He was born to Ralph and Geneva Lincoln Moser in Stephenville, Erath County, Texas, on June 22, 1943.

He graduated from Stephenville High School, a graduate of the University of Texas and received his doctorate degree from the Southwestern Medical School in Dallas Texas. He did his pathology residency in Little Rock, Arkansas, and practiced clinical and anatomical pathology in Texarkana Texas and Arkansas. He also did his residency in family practice and practiced through Arkansas, retiring to Little River Country Club.

He was a Methodist and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.

He is survived by a son, Karl Jason Moser of Texarkana, Texas, a daughter, Aindrea Gill Moser of Dallas, Texas, two grandchildren, Catherine Moser and Logan Moser both of Denton, Texas, one brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Moser of Stephenville, Texas, his fishing buddy, Pat Athey of De Queen, as well as other family members.

Visitation will be at Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, AR on Wednesday, August 28th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held in Stephenville, Texas. You may send an online sympathy message atwww.chandlerfuneral.com, or www.stephenvillefh.com

Elma Thresa Porter Kesterson Bohanon

Elma Thresa Porter Kesterson Bohanon, age 91 of Dierks, Arkansas, passed away, Friday, August 23, 2013 in Dierks. She was born January 14, 1922 near Dierks to the late Wesley Nathanel and Martha Sue Austin Porter. She was of the Baptist faith. During her life she had belonged to several clubs: THEOS Club in Nashville, Howard Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and Howard County EHC Club. She loved sewing, quilting, and collecting what knots. She devoted most of her time taking care of people.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Reuben Lester Kesterson as well as her second husband, Alton Bohanon. Also preceding her was a daughter, Emily Evaleen Brown, 2 sisters, Elsie Jones and Ethel Porter, 4 grandsons, Stevie, Chad, and Randy Kesterson, and John A. Runnels.

Her survivors include 3 children; Arlin Kesterson of Eagle Town, Oklahoma, Garland Kesterson of Dierks, Arkansas, and Bettie Runnels of Center Point, Arkansas. 2 sisters; Mary Cogburn of Merkel, Texas, Bessie Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Verleen Cogburn of Glenwood, Arkansas, and Ann Cogburn of Glenwood, Arkansas, 15 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.

Services will be Monday, August 26, 2013 at 3 pm at Nashville Funeral Home with Glen Lanus officiating. Interment will follow in Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home. Tosca Lajan Price

Tosca Lajan Price, age 59, a resident of Longview, Texas for over 25 years, and formerly of De Queen, Arkansas died Thursday, August 22, 2013, in Longview.

She was born on April 27, 1954, in Abilene, Texas. She was a member of the Moberly Baptist Church in Longview.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Robert “Bobby” Price and LaTreva Beavers Crutcher.

She is survived by two sisters, Lynn Wright of Horatio, Arkansas and Roylene Crutcher of Tyler, Texas; two nephews, Greg Wright and wife Stephanie of Horatio and Cade Crutcher of Tyler; one great nephew, Alex Wright of Horatio; and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013 in the First Christian Church of De Queen with Bro. Jerry Trauger officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the funeral home.

Mr. Brian James Logan

Mr. Brian James Logan, age 33, of Cherry Hill, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in Mena.

He was born December 18, 1979 in DeQueen, Arkansas to Mike Logan and Judy Steele Logan. He was united in marriage to Laura Philpot. Brian was a poultry farmer and was a member of the Yocana Baptist Church. He was active in his community and was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Elks, and the Cattleman’s Association. Brian was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved horses, mules and hot rods, and of course, his coyote, Sophie. He was a devoted family man and will be greatly missed by his community and those who loved him.

He is survived by his wife: Laura Logan of Cherry Hill, Arkansas, Daughters: Emilee Lewis of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Lindsey Logan of Cherry Hill, Arkansas, Parents: Mike and Judy Logan of Ink, Arkansas, Paternal Grandmother: Pansy Logan of Mena, Arkansas, Maternal Grandmother: Elouise Steele of South Beloit, Illinois and a host of friends too great to mention.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Homer Logan, his maternal grandfather, Paul Steele, and by an Uncle, Alan Steele.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Cherry Hill Methodist Church with Brother Lynn Chiles and Dr. Bill McCourtney officiating. Interment follows in the Highland Cemetery at Cherry Hill under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general.

Pallbearers are Cory Carter, Jay Cearley, Rodney Mathews, Ryan Boyd, Art Warrington, and Darrin Cannon. Honorary pallbearers are Traven Philpot, Dalton Pierce, Austin Pierce and Travis Philpot.
Memorials may be made to the Yocana Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. Charles Wayne “Pete” Hendrix

Mr. Charles Wayne “Pete” Hendrix, age 80, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, August 22, 2013, in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.

He was born to James and Ruthie Van Trees Hendrix on November 6, 1932 in West Otis, Arkansas. Pete was retired from the U S Air Force, and after his retirement, he worked in auto sales. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Queen, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing the fiddle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Inez Lester, Iona Munn, Iva Dunlap, Barney Hendrix, Fay Hendrix, and Poker Hendrix, and in 1999, his daughter, Karen Denise Erwin.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Dorothy J. Dinger Hendrix of De Queen, a son, Charles Clayton Hendrix of Leonard, Texas, a grandson, Carl Erwin, two granddaughters, Jeanene, and Nichole Duffield, four great-grandchildren, Payton and Kendall Duffield, Addison Taylor, and Dillon Hagood, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Pete Hendrix will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 25th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will military rites will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, August 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Millie Ann Emerson Stinnett

Millie Ann Emerson Stinnett, age 77, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013, in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born May 6, 1936, in De Queen. She was a former employee of First National Bank in De Queen and a member of the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in De Queen. She married Harold Stinnett on February 4, 1955.

Mrs. Stinnett was preceded in death by her father, Earl Lowell Emerson; one sister, Mildred Boone and one brother, Aubry Emerson.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Stinnett of De Queen; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Danny Bennett of Texarkana, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Jimna Stinnett of De Queen; her mother, Emma Moseley Emerson of De Queen; one sister and brother-in-law, Lynda Jane and Tony Beltrani of De Queen; five grandchildren, Stephanie Chickadel and husband Ernie, Craig Bennett, Brittany Satterfield and husband Matt, Kenzie Seal and husband Daniel and Camryn Stinnett; five great-grandchildren, Stephen, Madison and Emma Chickadel, Genevieve Satterfield and Grady Seal; one sister-in-law, Laura Emerson; three nephews, Scott Beltrani and wife Jodi, Darin Beltrani and Joey Emerson and wife Bridgett; four nieces, Cynthia Emerson, Kathy Gabbard and husband Kenneth, Patti Boone and Tory Shipley.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stinnett will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rev. Joe Carlton and Rev. Jason Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Friday, August 23rd at the funeral home.
