DOYLE BROWN

Doyle “Peboy” Brown, age 76, of Benton ; passed away Saturday March 27, 2004. He was born on February 20, 1928 in Traskwood, Arkansas. Mr. Brown worked in maintenance at the Arkansas Health Center, served in the National Guard for 20 years and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dio Rex Brown and Clara T. Landers Brown; wife, Linda Kay Moore; one sister and four brothers.

He is survived by two sons, Mike Brown and Marty Brown of Benton ; step-son, David (Bo) Smart of Florida ; two daughters, Anita Fagan and husband Lawrence and Wincette Knight both of Benton; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Richard Corley, Carl Hall, Lynn Shepard, Merl Cooper, Ron Davenport and Roy Don Higgins.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Traskwood Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery. The ministers will be Bro. Oscar Golden and Bro. Jacob Bagby. The Hot Springs V.F.W. Post #2278 will conduct military honors.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Ashby’s.

RICHARD BEARDEN

Mr. Richard L. Bearden, age 56, of Alexander died Saturday at the Saline Memorial Hospital. He was born February 13, 1948 in Little Rock. Richard was employed by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as a maintenance supervisor for 21 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club. He was preceded in death by his father, William Grady Bearden, mother, Opal Bearden and brother, Tommy Bearden.

Survivors are his wife of 26 years, Annella “Nellie” Bearden; one son, William “Billy” Bearden and wife Cresta and their children, Billy, Erika and Justin Bearden of Alexander; two daughters, Andrea Bearden and her son, Jessie Talkington of Alexander, Angela Lea and husband Chris and their three children, Nikki, Brittany and Alex Lea of Judsonia; two brothers, Allen Bearden and Edward Bearden of Alexander.

Pallbearers will be John Bailey, Wallace Counts, Fred Neal, Bill Holloway, Frank Highfill and Mike Wilson.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Collegeville Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Ashby’s.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

ALDAH MELHORN

Aldah “Buddy” Melhorn, age 43, of Benton ; passed away Friday March 26, 2004. He was born on September 20, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Melhorn was a service manager at Hugg and Hall Equipment and of the Catholic Faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Vaughn Joseph Melhorn and a brother, Vaughn Joseph Melhorn, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Melhorn; two sons, Chris and Joseph Melhorn; two daughters, Shannan Young and husband Dustin and Kaci Melhorn all of Benton; mother, Anna Marie Melhorn of Jacksonville; sister, Barbara Haake of Lansing, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Landon Booth and Annie Laurie Young.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Cameron Cemetery.

WESLEY BROWNING

Wesley Browning, age 83, of Little Rock; passed away Monday March Boyce 29, 2004. He was born on August 6, 1920 in Saline County. Mr. Browning was a retired Union Carpenter in Little Rock Local 690, a U. S. Navy Veteran that survived Pearl Harbor and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton Browning and Myrtle Hubmann; wife, Mattie Lee Browning; sister, Gloria Hubmann and a brother, Ray Browning.

He is survived by his son, Boyce Edward Browning of Benton; two daughters, Beverly Ann Browning of Little Rock and Deletta Jean Walton of Alexander; two brothers, Guy Browning of Little Rock and John G. Hubmann of Bluntville, Tennessee; sister, Polly Moreland of Hot Springs and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Hot Springs V.F.W. Post #2278 will conduct military honors.

Visitation will be 6:30 To 8:30 Thursday night at Ashby’s.

MARY JOHNSON

Mrs. Mary Lou “LuLu” Johnson, age 48, of Alexander died Monday March 29, 2004. She was born August 23, 1955 to Bill and Josephine Ragan. Mrs. Johnson was a housewife and a member of the Hilldale Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother Josephine and her step-mother Bettye Ragan.

Survivors, husband, James “Jim” Johnson, Alexander; sons, Donnie Wise and Jessie Wise both of Perryville; daughters, Elizabeth Lindsey, Bryant; Tiffany Cookus, Little Rock; Tina Reasoneu, Little Rock; father, Bill Ragan, Benton; brothers, James Ragan, Benton; Charles Ragan, Owensville; sister, Belinda Bendetti, Benton; grandchildren, Bethany, Vickie and Kristin Lindsey, Katelyn Wise, Blanton Cookus and McKenzie Wise.

Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Ashby Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Friday at Ashby’s.

JUANITA MAXINE FRYE

Mrs. Juanita Maxine Frye, age 77 of Benton died Saturday at her home. She was born July 1, 1926 in Bauxite to the late William and Sarah Toland. Mrs. Frye was a retired LPN and a member of the First Baptist Church in Benton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond O. Frye, daughter, Barbara Frye, two brothers, four sisters.

Survivors, son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Martha Frye, Malvern; daughter, Patricia Samples, Benton; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Ashby Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery. Minister will be Dr. Rick Grant.

Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Ashby’s.

WALTER BILBREY

Walter William Bilbrey, age 73, of Benton; passed away Monday June 7, 2004. He was born on August 3, 1930 in Shook, Missouri. Mr. Bilbrey was a retired Sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War and Vietname War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Opal Bilbrey and two brothers, Carl Bilbrey and Vern Bilbrey.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Bilbrey of Benton; son, Michael Bilbrey of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Debra “Debbie” Cross of Denver, Colorado; two brothers, Leon Bilbrey of Heltonville, Indiana and John Bilbrey of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; two sisters, Betty Marlar of Willamsville, Missouri and Mary Keele of Tallahassee, Florida; brother-in-law, Roger Hickey of Houston, Texas and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Ashby’s.

Funeral services will be at Ruegg Funeral Home in Piedmont, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Arkansas Hospice.

ROBERT W. PERKINS

Robert W. Perkins, age 20, of Mabelvale; passed away Sunday June 6, 2004. He was born on October 18, 1983 in Searcy, Arkansas. Robert was a utility man for a construction company. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roland Harrell.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Mary and Lester Harrell; daughter, Sarah Rose Smith Perkins; girlfriend, Rachel M. Smith; two brothers, Jereme and William Harrell; sister, Vivian Hooker; grandparents, Jean Mitteer and Arland Mitteer and Louise Harrell.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at McPherson Cemetery. Don Robinson will be officiating.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Ashby’s.

ANDERSON SHELTON

Mr. Anderson Joe M. Shelton, age 79 of Benton, Arkansas died Monday June 7, 2004 at the Saline Nursing Center in Benton. He was born July 30, 1924 in Holland Missouri to the late Thomas A. and Avis Waldrop Shelton. Mr. Shelton was a retired truck driver and millwright, member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, a U S Army Veteran and a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Arlington, TN.. He was preceded in death by a son, Rickey Joe Shelton, brothers, W. H. Shelton, A. J. Shelton and Woodrow Shelton.

Survivors, wife, Grace J. Shelton, Benton, Arkansas; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie and Ronnie Crews, Benton, Arkansas; sister, Pattye Jo Boone, Island, Kentucky; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Northridge/Woodhaven Chapel in Millington, TN.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Northridge/Woodhaven Chapel.

MARY LANDERS

Mary Louise Landers, 76, born in Hot Springs, passed away Friday at her home in Benton after a lengthy illness. She was predecessed by her parents George W. and Kathrine Hatley and grandparents, Harv and Bessie Graves and Jonah and Jane Hatley.

Survivors include her husband William T. Landers, two step-sons, Ricky Landers and William S. Landers, both of Benton.; two step grandchildren, Farra and Caseyce Landers; a sister, Peggy J. Stevens and a niece, Joyce Louise Trott both of Hot Springs and a nephew, Jack Stephens, Jr. of Bonnerdale. Other survivors are her “Special Children” Carolyn Whaley of Hot Springs; Karen McPherson, of Florida; Maureen Childress of Haskell; Marsha Davis, Pam Dandurand, Haskell; David Patterson and Debbie Barnett, all of Traskwood.

Mrs. Landers was a member of Highland Heights Baptist Church and the Away We Go Travelink.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m Monday, August 2, 2004 in the chapel of Ashby Funeral Home in Benton with Rev. L. D. Campbell officiating. Burial will be at the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Collegeville.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Ashby’s

Pall Bearers will be Joe Sims, Donald Zuber, Leroy Stevens, Tommie Neil White, Nubin Wray, Lynn Hart and Bill Glenn as Honorary Pall Bearer.

ETHEL GRAHAM

Mrs. Ethel Estell Graham, age 94, of Benton died Saturday at her home. She was born September 11, 1909 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to the late Charles and Ellen McGee. Mrs. Graham was a retired teacher and a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Graham, and a foster-daughter, Eloise Mitchell.

Survivors, brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Myrtle McGee and Charles and Pauline McGee, all of Benton; sister, Lola Petty, Fort Worth, Texas; son-in-law, Ralph Mitchell and his wife Barbara, Benton; two grandsons, one great-grandson, six step-grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Graham Cemetery.

Family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening at 9137 Crossroads road.

The family expresses special thanks and gratitude to Saline Memorial Hospice for their love and caring service.
