Edgar Leon (Bud) McGee
Edgar Leon (Bud) McGee, 89, of Rector died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, in the Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was born Oct. 31, 1911, in Hayti, Mo., the son of the late Walter and Ida Sanders McGee.
He married Stella Halter on Nov. 13, 1935. To this union one son was born.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Stella; one son, Leo McGee and wife, Arleene, of Rector; two grandchildren, Karen Deen and husband, Kevin, of Campbell, Mo., and Walter McGee of Jonesboro; one great-grandson, Christian Deen; one step-great-granddaughter, Elisha Deen; two sisters, Opal Hurst of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Irma Pillow of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Mitchell Cemetery
near Greenway with Richard Tippitt officiating.
Pallbearers were Sonny Cato, Gene Bomar, Eugene Parks, J.W. Taylor, Bud Taylor and Don Caldwell.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Adrian D. Lewis
Adrian D. Lewis, 75, of Piggott died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1926, the son of the late Jerry Thomas and Mary Langley Lewis.
He married Betty McDowell on Dec. 18, 1948. To this union three children were born.
He was a member of the First General Baptist Church. He was a veteran, serving his country in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; three children, Donna Haley, and husband, Rickey, of Rector, Alan Lewis and wife, Wanda, of Piggott, and Ray Lewis of Ferris, Texas; seven grandchildren, Amber, Heather, Nikki, Brooke, Jason, Tyler and Shannon; two great-grandsons, Cade and Hunter; two sisters, Maida Featherston of Sikeston, Mo., and Janice Martin of Jonesboro; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Joe Payne officiating.
Burial was in Piggott Cemetery
with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Steve Edwards, Lester Edwards, Chartee Whaley, Dick Hall, Sonny Potts and Jimmie Langley.
Hulen Haywood
Hulen Haywood, 58, of Piggott died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Piggott, the son of the late Henry and Izalia R. Rogers Haywood.
He married Danna Haywood on Aug. 31, 1963.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Waynard and Gerald, and three infant sisters.
He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Piggott.
He is survived by his wife, Danna; three children, Kim, Susan and Heath; two grandchildren, Connor and Caroline; four brothers, Roger Haywood and wife, Diane, of McDougal, Paul Haywood and wife, Liz, of Corning, James Haywood and wife, Renee, of Sacramento, Calif., and Boyce Haywood and wife, Barbara, of Jerome, Mich.; six sisters, Alma Joyce Anderson and husband, Norman, of Little Rock, Sonya Sue Haywood, Elaine Smart, Carolyn Galyean and husband, Bill, and Wilma Ross and husband, Gerald, all of Piggott, and Ella Jean Burnett and husband, Sonny, of Nashville, Tenn.; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Joe Payne and Mike Winberry officiating.
Burial was in Piggott Cemetery
with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were nephews Brad Haywood, Steve Haywood, Neal Galyean, Travis Anderson, David Anderson, Mike Smart, Jerry Ross and Eddie Burnett.
Honorary pallbearers were Alan Scott, Leroy Thompson, Marshall Potts, Richard Simmons, James Engle, Tommy Hardcastle, Bobby Shanklin and Larry Thrasher.

Melcenia Cordelia Cato
Melcenia Cordelia Cato, 83, of St. Francis died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Rector Health Care in Rector.
She was born Dec. 22, 1918, in Catron, Mo., the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Flossie Wilson Lozier and lived most of her adult life in the McDougal and St. Francis areas.
She demonstrated her love of Jesus by regularly attending the Assembly of God Church in Campbell and by being a prayer warrior for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
From remnants of material, her hands created beautiful quilts and embroidery work treasured by all who received them.
She married Berylus Leon Cato on Dec. 14, 1939.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Berylus; two brothers, Claude and Johnny Lozier; and one sister, Marjorie Lechtenberger.
She is survived by four children, Jean Cato Belote and husband, Bob, of Springfield, Mo., James L. Cato and wife, Yvonne, of Hazelwood, Mo., Jerry L. Cato and wife, Edna, of St. Louis and Terry D. Cato and wife, Linda, of Piggott; seven grandchildren, Bob Belote Jr. and wife, Deana, Chris Belote and wife, Charmagne, Laura Ridder and husband, Todd, James Cato II and wife, Stacy, Jason Cato, Terri Priest and husband, Jeremy, and Derek Cato; six great-grandchildren, Michelle and Dakota, Isaacs, Alex and Abbey Belote and Elizabeth and Ben Ridder; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday (today) at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Bill Ivy officiating.
Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery
near Crockett with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Barbara Jenkins
Barbara Jenkins, 69, of Royal Oak, Mich., died May 23, 2002, after a long illness.
She was born on April 8, 1933, in Clay County, the daughter of the late Aubry and Bessie Redmon.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Donald Redmon.
She is survived by her husband, Junious Jenkins; three children, Jeffrey Jenkins and wife, Patricia, of Centerline, Mich., Jennifer Gilley of Kingport, Tenn., and Janet Wilson and husband, Dave, of Clarkton, Mich.; two sisters, Dortha Henderson of Marmaduke and Shirley Lochtan of Greenway; a brother, Bill Redmon of Peoriz, Arizona; grandchildren, Danille and Michelle Gilley, Alan and Marcus Jenkins, and Joshua and Nathan Wilson; and other family and friends.
Funeral services were held May 25 at William Sullivan and Son Funeral Home in Royal Oak with Rev. Milton Worthington of Central Free Will Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was in Oakview Cemetery

Loyd Joe Bellers
Loyd Joe Bellers, 74, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at his home in Piggott.
He was born on a farm at Carryville on April 12, 1928, the son of the late Dewey and Blanche Simpson Bellers.
He was a member and Trustee of First General Baptist Church of Piggott; a member of the Masonic Lodge #545; a Veteran of U.S. Navy and served two years aboard the USS Norris; and a farmer around the Carryville area for forty years.
He was preceded in death by one son, Loyd Kent Bellers; one daughter, Karen Denise Bellers; one brother, Junior Bellers; and one brother-in-law, Troy Howell.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Moore Bellers, whom he wed on Dec. 25, 1948; his children, Kathy Jo and Skip Fauber, of Maumelle, and Kim and Rodney Rouse of Piggott; three grandchildren, Chanda Hinrichs of Fayetteville, and Joe Marshall and Kalem Rouse of Piggott; one great-grandson, Parker Hinrichs of Fayetteville; four sisters, Girtha Sanders and husband, Melvin, of Moore, Okla., Jeanette Baily and husband, Ledell, of Searcy, Betty Howell of Piggott, and Mary Faye Snead and husband, Charlie, of Bartlett, Tenn.; one brother, Francis Bellers and wife, Martha, of Cedar Hill, Mo.; and a host of other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel, with Joe Payne officiating. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were his nephews, Mike Bellers, Scott Bellers, Jeff Howell, Bob Howell, Monte Bellers, Dennis Bellers, Ted Bellers and Brian Snead. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Hester Lorene Settlemoir
Hester Lorene Settlemoir, 80, of Piggott died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, in the Piggott Community Hospital.
She was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Pollard, the daughter of the late George Adkins and Mariah Hester Pollard Ridgeway.
She was united in marriage to Daniel Jackson Settlemoir on Nov. 11, 1943. To this union, one son was born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Jackson Settlemoir, in 1990; two sisters, Dona Winton and Gertie Harmon; and four brothers, Frank, Raymond, Earl and Earnest Ridgeway.
She is survived by one son, Danny Settlemoir and wife, Kay, of Piggott; two grandchildren, Melissa Ann Settlemoir and Jeremy of Memphis and Tammy Rainwater and Gregg of Lake City; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Katelyn; one brother, Paul Ridgeway and Mary of Piggott; two sisters-in-law, Racheal Ridgeway and Bessie Ridgeway of Piggott; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Danny Self and Eldon Parrish officiating.
Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery
in Piggott with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ray Estes
Ray Estes, 73, of Octillo Wells, Calif., died Nov. 1, 2002.
He was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Winfield, Ala., the son of the late Rube and Ethel Roden Estes and the stepson of the late Dollie Gregory Estes.
He was united in marriage to Darlene Weaver in 1949 in Las Vegas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Estes Risener.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darlene; brother, Taft Estes of Piggott; daughters, Ann Myers of Olympia, Wash., and Lisa Pridmore of Santa Cruz, Calif.; grandson, Sean Pridmore of San Diego; granddaughter, Jennifer Myers of Seattle; and many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Estes was cremated, and a memorial service was held at his home on Nov. 20. At sunset, Sean Pridmore rode his grandfather's motorcycle into the desert and scattered his ashes along one of his grandfather's favorite trails.
Margaret Anne "Maggie" Edwards
Margaret Anne "Maggie" Edwards, 61, of Russellville, sister of Nancy Kemp of Rector, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Community Medical Center in Fresno, Calif., after a courageous battle with cancer.
An artist and a homemaker, she was born Aug. 30, 1941, in Dardanelle to the late Jack and Ava Dean Partridge.
She graduated in 1958 from Central High School in Helena-West Helena and received a bachelor's degree from Arkansas Tech University at Russellville.
She was gentle and loving and gave quietly of herself in service to others. She was known especially for her talent and creativity, which she shared with others in many ways.
Other survivors include her husband, Jim Edwards of Russellville; her daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Glenn Gray of Fresno; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Carla Partridge of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother-in-law Ron Kemp of Rector; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jo and Gerald Reimer of Portland, Ore., nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She and her husband lived in a number of interesting places in the United States related to his work as a nuclear engineer, including Maine, Idaho, Connecticut, Nebraska, Iowa, Louisiana and Arkansas. They had resided in Russellville for the last several years.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the First Baptist Church in Russellville, where she attended regularly.
