Linda Sue Fyte

Linda Sue Fyte, 52, of Poplar Bluff, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at her residence. She had been in declining health for the past year.

Ms. Fyte was born June 5, 1950, in Hammond, Ind. She was a graduate of Gavit High School in Hammond, and a graduate of Indiana University, Dupage College, Ill., where she majored in horticulture. She was self-employed as a landscape designer.

Survivors include her mother, Gladys Runnels Fyte of Poplar Bluff; and two sisters, Sharon Fyte of Poplar Bluff and Carol Cramer of White Bear Lake, Mn.

A family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Cotrell Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert W. Parker

Robert W. Parker, 75, of Piggott died Friday, May 23, 2003, in the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Piggott, the son of the late Henry Clay and Ethel Ward Parker.

He was united in marriage to Erma Nell Byrd on Oct. 8, 1949. To this union one daughter was born.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Parker and Harold Ray Parker; two sisters, Lois O'Connor and Lilalee Parker.

He is survived by his wife, Erma Nell Parker of Piggott; one daughter, Sharon Maynard and husband, Danny, of Macomb, Mich.; two grandsons, Danny Wayne Maynard of Macomb, Mich., and Scott Allen Maynard of Manton, Mich.; four great-grandchildren, Scott, Tyler, Danny Ray and Christian; one sister, Barbara Sue Hines of Selmer, Tn.; one brother, Jerry Parker of Van Buren, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rev. Jack Cole and Rev. Joe Payne officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lester Edwards, Ted McComb, Pharis Edwards, Charles Underwood, J.D. Cook and Bob Hoggard. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

June "Punkin" (Pickelsimer) Duncan

June "Punkin" (Pickelsimer) Duncan, 64, of Freedom, Ca., formerly of the Rector area, died May 23, 2003, at her home in California.

She was born May 08, 1939, in Clay County, Ark., to Virgil and Una Wilson Pickelsimer.

She worked as a cook for restaurants during her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Una Pickelsimer.

She is survived by one loyal companion, Francis Burdin of California; five sons, Phillip Weldon, Sammy Weldon, Stacy Weldon and Maurice Phelps, who are all of Oklahoma and Harold Burdin of Arkansas; two daughters, Gwen Phelps of Oklahoma and Kimberly Phelps of Nebraska; three sisters, Virgie Bozarth of Marmaduke, Nelda Sue Nelson of Bakersfield, Ca., and Carolyn Burdin of Piggott; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke with Futrell Butler officiating. Burial followed at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke. Serving as pallbearers were Reuben Seay, Jim Smith, Jonathan Smith and Darrin Burdin.

Irby Funeral Service of Marmaduke was in charge of the arrangements.

Darrell Timothy Armour

Darrell Timothy Armour, 47, of Hardy, Ark., died in an automobile accident in Willow Springs, Mo., Thursday, July 31, 2003.

Mr. Armour was born on March 13, 1956, in Memphis and formerly worked for Schering Plough in Memphis as a Senior Research Technician. In 2003 he received a bachelor of arts in English from Lyon College in Batesville, in 2000 he received an associates in liberal arts from Ozarka College in Melbourne, Ark., in 1994 he received an associates degree in data processing from State Technical Institute and studied Telecommunications at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, where he was a member of Sigma Tau Delta.

He was a member of the Batesville Golf Club.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Redmon; and a son, Billy Armour.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Armour of Hardy; two sons, Brent Armour of Memphis and Tanner Armour of Hardy; one daughter, Jourdan Armour of Hardy; his father and step-mother, Williams Temple and Patsy Armour of Southaven, Miss.; and two brothers, Chris Armour and Kevin Armour of Memphis.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, in Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel in Highland, Ark.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sharp County Library in Hardy.

Doilas Elton Edwards

Doilas Elton Edwards, 70, of Piggott died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in the Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

He was born May 1, 1933, in Piggott, the son of the late Jeff and Verna Payne Edwards.

He was united in marriage to Patsy Hollis on Aug. 13, 1954. To this union two children were born.

He was employed by McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Corporation in St. Louis, Mo., for 32 1/2 years and was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for 45 years. He loved baseball and especially the Cardinals.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Brent Edwards on October 3, 1955; and two sisters, Kelpa Mae Edwards and Mary Ford.

He is survived by his wife Patsy Edwards of Piggott; one daughter, Cynthia Gale Edwards Kelly and husband, Kevin, of Independence, Mo.; four brothers, Curtis Edwards of Ariz., John Edwards of Miss., Jerry Edwards of Ind., Glen Edwards of Miss.; and other relatives and friends.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of the arrangements.

Douglas MacArthur Davis

Douglas MacArthur Davis, 59, of Piggott died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Grayson, Ky.

He was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Clarkton, Mo., the son of the late Thomas Wesley and Brooksey Lee Miller Davis.

He married Sharon Wooldridge on Dec. 31, 1965. To this union two sons were born.

He was a truck driver, farmer and mechanic and was a longtime resident of Pollard. He was of the Baptist faith and was converted at age 13.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arlon Davis, Harold Davis and Vernie Davis, and one sister, Evelyn Sevener.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; two sons, Allan Davis of Marmaduke and Scottie Davis of Piggott; five brothers, O.W. Davis of Mounds, Bud Davis and Preston Davis of Pollard, Russell Davis of Carryville and Elvis Davis of St. Charles, Mo.; one sister, Hazel Jones of Westminster, Calif.; one grandchild, Shana Davis of Paragould; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday (today) at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Bro. Jimmy McIntosh officiating.

Burial will be in Stanfield Cemetery near Clarkton with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Allan Davis, Scottie Davis, Mat Bowen, James Miller, Thomas Isbell, and Keith Pool.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Conyers, Raymond Conyers, Jason Davis and Breck Tillman.

Neeley Twins

Lauren Elizabeth and Kathrine Hope Neeley, twin daughters of Jeff and Tommie Carol Neeley of Forrest City, Ark., were born and died Sept. 13, 2001.

Maternal grandparents are Tommy and Linda Poindexter of Forrest City, and great-grandmother is Pat Poindexter, also of Forrest City.

Paternal grandparents are Darrel and Judy Neeley of Forrest City. Great-grandparents are Earl and Virginia Neeley of McDougal and the late Dalton and Eidress Mobley of Piggott.

Graveside services were held Sept. 18 at Forrest Memorial Park in Forrest City.

Merl Gray

Merl Gray, 88, of Piggott died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

He was born Nov. 24, 1913, in Black Oak, Ark., the son of the late Charlie Perry and Isabelle Ross Gray.

He married Novella Eubanks on Nov. 6, 1940. To this union two children were born.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Novella, in 1994; one brother, Leonard Gray; two half-sisters; and one step-brother.

He is survived by his son, Gary Gray of Olathe, Kansas; one daughter, Faye Fewins of Piggott; two grandchildren, Tammy Carpenter of Kansas and LuCynda Warren of Piggott; three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Carlie and Aubrey; two half sisters; two special nephews, Don Basinger and Harold Grigsby and several other nieces and nephews; Sierra Beth Pollard, loved as Pa Pa's granddaughter; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Harold Grigsby and Matthew Grantham officiating.

Burial will be in Piggott Cemetery with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Bellers, Dustin Bellers, Sidney Binkley, Todd Watson, Billy Curt Veal, Bud Holcomb, Mike Patterson and Burl Petty.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Renshaw, Don Pitts, A.C. Silas and Kenneth J. Spillman.

Hazel Lee Davis

Hazel Lee Davis, 86, of Piggott died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born May 19, 1915, near Crockett, the son of the late Fred and Vivian Merion Wheeler Davis.

He married Lena Wimberley on Dec. 22, 1937. She preceded him in death on Aug. 30, 1990.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Piggott.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with David Pettis officiating.

Burial was in Piggott Cemetery with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Tom Sneed, Don Featherston, Wallace Gookin, Tommy Hardcastle, Jim Ping and Barry Johnson.

Gene Lee O'Dell Crandall

Gene Lee O'Dell Crandall, 77, of Merritt Island, Fla., died Monday, June 1, 2002, at Cape Canaveral Hospital.

She was born May 29, 1925, in St. Louis and grew up in St. Francis.

She was a member of the Cocoa Beach Methodist Church. She was an active member of the VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Courtney Crandall, on May 20, 2002; one son, Ricky O'Dell Crandall; and her parents, Ethel Lucille Daniel O'Dell and Alvin O'Dell.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Watts and husband, Jim, of Merritt Island and Patricia Crandall of Marshall, Mo.; three grandchildren, Terri Bears-Nix and husband, Terry, of Orlando, Fla., Shawnna Reynolds and husband, Danny, of St. Charles, Mo., and Stacie Osbourne and husband, Scott, of Phoenix, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Jordan Daniel, Jordan Elizabeth and baby girl to be of Orlando, Dylan and Austin of St. Charles and Amanda of Phoenix; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 4, at the United Methodist Church in St. Francis with Willyene Thompson officiating.

Burial was in Piggott Cemetery with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to Marshall Habilitation Center, Marshall, Mo., 65340.
