Ruby Geneva (Hosea) Wright

Ruby Geneva (Hosea) Wright, 85, of Piggott died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

She was born Aug. 5, 1919, in Pollard, the daughter of the late WIlliam Oscar and Lelah Pearl Harbert Hosea.

She was united in marriage to William Herbert Doty on Dec. 7, 1935. They had one son. He preceded her in death. She married George Rigney Wright on Oct. 26, 1941, and he also preceded her in death.

She was a long-time member of the Fagus General Baptist Church in Fagus.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton and Bill Hosea; and two sisters, Pauline Moore and Freida Butler.

She is survived by one son, Frank J. Doty and wife, Arvella, of Piggott; one step-son, George Ronald Wright of Fagus; two step-daughters, Jean Morris of Rector and Wanda Morris and husband, Maynard, of Knobel; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Mable Hamilton and Martha Hosea; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (today), Nov. 17, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Gary Hancock officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Bailey, Michael Bailey, Darrell Law, James Law, Johnny O'Conner and Charles Hosea.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of the arrangements.

John Henry Weller Jr.

John Henry Weller Jr., 48, of Greenway died Nov. 17, 2004, at the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born Oct. 20, 1956, in Granite City, Ill., the son of John Henry and Pearl J. Blair Weller.

He was united in marriage to Carol Jean Nash on June 11, 1994. She preceded him in death in 2001.

He was also preceded in death by his father, John Henry Weller; and two sisters, Jean Brassfield and Verlie Phillips.

He is survived by his mother, Pearl Junella Glynn of Piggott; his girlfriend, Melba Smith of Greenway and her son, Jason Barnes; one daughter, Candy Nagelmiller and husband, Eddie, of Horn Lake, Miss.; two grandchildren, Corina and Eric "JonJon" Nagelmiller; two brothers, James Weller Sr. of Piggott and John B. Weller; five sisters, Cleta Eckard of Granite City, Ill., Carrie Machon of Greenway, Jody Tanner of Piggott, Helen Kyle of Campbell and Emma Weller of Campbell; several nieces, nephews, foster children and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at the Hoggard and Sons Chapel in Piggott. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard. Pallbearers were Jessie Terry, Frank Terry, Robert Stokes, Lonnie Stokes, Herb Wright, Jason Barnes, Wesley Mills, Tony Baugh and Jerry Petigo.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Emmis E. Vaughn

Emmis E. Vaughn, 78, of Pollard died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, in the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Pollard, the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Nancy Ann Lemonds Vaughn.

He married Lou Vonda Grissom on Feb. 27, 1946. They had two daughters.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James E. Vaughn and George E. Vaughn; and one sister, Etta Melissa Culver.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Vonda (Bonnie) Vaughn of Pollard; two daughters, Henrietta Harmon and husband, John, of Melber, Ky., and Martha Ann Renard and husband, James, of Dexter; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Loy Culver officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard.

Pallbearers were Rick Culver, David Culver, Therrell Vaughn, Brian Vaughn, Donald Grissom and Cloyce Grissom.

Raymond Lee Featherston

Raymond Lee Featherston, 82, of Piggott died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, in the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born June 20, 1922, in Senath, the son of the late Vernal Doug and Nora Williams Featherston.

He was united in marriage to Evalean Gilbert on Sept. 23, 1944. They had three children.

He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946, during World War II, in the European Theater and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was the Zoning Enforcement Officer in Piggott, a retired Brown Shoe employee and a life-long farmer.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernal Featherston Jr. and Carlos Featherston; and two sisters, Mozella Hinkle and Charlene Scheffler.

He is survived by his wife, Evalean Featherston of Piggott; two sons, Danny Featherston of Penbroke Pine, Fla., and Larry Featherston and wife, Lynn, of Jonesboro; one daughter, Barbara Polsgrove of Newport; seven grandchildren, Laurie Featherston, Christopher Polsgrove, Lara Lewis, Ami Foster, Erica Addington, Lynna Featherston and Daniel Featherston; four great-grandchildren, Lynley, Ridge, Riley and Mackenzie; four brothers, Wayne Featherston, J.B. Featherston, James Featherston and Don Featherston, all of Piggott; one sister, Vonell Dickerson of Hot Springs; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, in the General Baptist Church with Joe Payne officiating. Burial followed in the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Pallbearers were Christopher Polsgrove, Chris Lewis, Brandon Foster, Phillip Addington, Daniel Featherston and Jim Hinkle.

Phyllis Quarah Book

Phyllis Quarah Book, 74, of Piggott died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2004, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was a member of the General Baptist Church and worked for many years as a sales associate for K-Mart.

She was preceded in death by one son, James Byron Book; and her parents, George Monroe Kelley and Lola Pearl Miller.

Survivors include her husband, Jay B. Book of the home; two sons, Phil Stanley Book of Flint, Mich., and Alan Wade Book of Piggott; one daughter, Suzanne Zacek of Piggott; two sisters, Violet Odean Haley of Mountain Home and Esther Yvonna Vannada of Piggott; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home at Piggott with Joe Payne officiating. Burial followed in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway.

Active pallbearers were Scott Book, Matthew Zacek, Blake Book, Jeremy Book, Phil Book and Kevin Vannada. Honorary pallbearers included Eric Zacek, James Featherston, J.B. Featherston, Eugene Mann, Duane Zacek, Floyd Book, Roland Harkey, Alan Book and Daniel Mothershed.

Irby Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Keith Martin Samples

Keith Martin Samples, 30, of Greenway died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at the Piggott Community Hospital.

He enjoyed sports, fishing, riding his four-wheeler and spending time with his children. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Brannon Samples of Greenway; two sons, Bryan Martin and Jeremy Keith of the home; one daughter, Halyee Danielle of the home; his parents, Judy and Larry Martin of Piggott, and Lannie and Kathy Samples of Holcomb; four brothers, Bryan (Shelly) Samples of Piggott, Sean (Amy) Martin of Piggott, Mark Samples of Greenway and Kyle Samples of Holcomb; grandparents Lucille York of Campbell, Bob (Imogene) Martin of Piggott and Narciadean Hickson of Campbell; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home in Piggott with Bro. Shelly Elkins officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Phil Davis, Trevor Tinsley, Logan Morrow, Jeremy Luttrell, Steven Long and Tim Earnhart. Honorary pallbearers were David Inman, Jason Harrell, Darrin Johnson and Michael Ligons.

Carl E. Causey

Carl E. Causey, 63, of Piggott died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 19, 1941, in St. Louis, the son of Doyle Edward and Virginia Book Causey.

He was united in marriage to Janice Outland on Nov. 23, 1961. They had three children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Edward Causey; and one sister, Bonnie Rose Causey.

He is survived by his wife, Janice M. Causey of Piggott; mother, Virginia L. Causey of Piggott; three children, Donna Watts and husband, Joseph Adam, of Waterloo, Ill., Mark Causey and wife, Patricia, of New Athens, Ill., and Sheryl Gean and husband, Mark, of Valmeyer, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Joseph Andrew Watts, Brandon LaMear, Zachery Causey, Seth Causey, Tyler Gean, Lindsey Gean and Emily Causey; one brother, Earl Causey of St. Charles, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Causey, Joseph Adam Watts, Mark Gean, Mike Outland, Craig Outland, John Doyle Causey, Michael Outland and Norman Dees.

Masonic services were held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005.

Nell Brown

Nell Brown, 93, of Rector died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Twin Rivers Medical Center in Kennett.

She was born Dec. 28, 1911, in Greenville, Mo., the daughter of the late Henry Lovins and Margaret Scritchfield Lovins.

She was united in marriage to Earl T. Brown on March 29, 1930. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1980.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son in infancy; one daughter, Earlene Brown; two brothers, Ed and Bud Lovins; and two sisters, Ellen Carr and Mae Jackson.

She is survived by three sons, Gaylon Brown of Byhalia, Miss., Paul Brown of Rector and Denver Brown of Sikeston; three daughters, Bonnie Brown of Rector, Brenda Rogers of Walker, La., and Billie Clayton of Rector; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at the McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Bobby Carter officiating. Burial followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett. Active pallbearers were Gary Redmon, Calvin Murrell, Perry Deshotel, Harold Burdin, Bill Ward and Mike Forte. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Beck, Ken Forte and Mike Morgan.

McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett was in charge of the arrangements.

Lavern Rodery

Lavern Rodery, 79, of Campbell, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born May 12, 1925, in Piggott, the son of the late Joe Rodery and Ethel George Rodery.

He married Neoma Gurlen on Dec. 27, 1946, in Piggott.

He was a retired farmer and a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Campbell.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Fortner and Rachel Fortner; and three brothers, Floyd Rodery, Wayne Rodery and Paul Rodery.

He is survived by his wife, Neoma Rodery of Campbell; two sons, Terry Rodery and wife, Lana, of Kingdom City, Mo., and Stanley Rodery and wife, Mary, of Campbell; one daughter, Donna Rodery of Campbell; four grandchildren, Matthew Rodery and wife, Marcia, of Kingdom City, Mo., Bradly Rodery of Conway, Lindy Rodery of Campbell and Rachael Rodery of Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Maddison Rodery and Makenna Rodery of Kingdom City, Mo.; one sister, Anna Lee Nichols of Piggott; two brothers, Hillard Rodery of Cartersville, Ga., and Carlos Rodery of Brighton, Mich.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, in the Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with Rev. Clyde Turner officiating. Burial followed in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.

Landess Funeral Home of Campbell was in charge of the arrangements.

Lora Wagster

Lora Wagster, 56, of Russellville, formerly of Piggott, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at her home in Russellville.

She was born Oct. 22, 1948, in Piggott, the daughter of the late John Greene and Lora R. Jackson Thrasher.

She married Robert Wagster on Aug. 11, 1968. They had two children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bruce Thrasher.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Wagster of Russellville; one daughter, Lora Timms and husband, David, of Piggott; one son, Robert Wagster of Hattiesburg, Miss.; four grandchildren, Kyler, Kelsey, Shi and Cade; two sisters, John Nell Cullum of Lake City and Maye Ann Hatch of Hot Springs; one brother, Richard Thrasher of San Diego, Calif., and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Don Rose officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken Wagster, Darrell Wagster, Perry Arrant, Aaron Arrant and Stanley McMillon.
