Everette Ray Harwood
Everette Ray Harwood, 80, of Swartz Creek, Mich., died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1925, in Piggott, the son of William and Elsie (Mann) Harwood.
Mr. Harwood served in the United States Marines during World War II, in the South Pacific Theater Third Marine Division. He was a sergeant for the Flint Police Department retiring in 1974 after 25 years of service.
He was involved with many organizations including, Genesee Masonic Lodge 174, Valley of Bay City Scottish Rite, past Potentate of Elf Khurafeh Shriners, past president of Oasis Shrine Club, Royal Order of Jesters Court 74, and a charter member of F.O.P. Arrowhead Lodge 126 and V.F.W. Post 3720.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Tucker.
Survivors include a son, Michael Harwood and wife, Connie, of Owosso, Mich.; a brother, Don Harwood and wife, Jane, of Swartz Creek, Mich.; five grandchildren, Sam, Sean and Monica, all of Owosso, Mich., Nikole Mullen and husband, Robby, of Cleburne, Texas, and Corey Tucker and wife, Amiee, of Indian Trail, N.C.; two great-granddaughters, Rylee and Kamryn; two nephews, Matt Harwood and wife, Phyllis, of Novi, Mich., and Steven Harwood and wife, Kim, of Grand Blanc, Mich.; and one niece, Susie Mitchell and husband, Rick, of Gaines, Mich.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at the Swartz Funeral Home, located at 1225 West Hill Road in Swartz Creek, with Pastor Doug Klein officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery
with a 
military graveside service, under the auspices of the Flint Detachment 155 Marine Corps League. A Masonic service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the Shriners' Hospitals for Children.
Wonedith Taylor Faulk
Wonedith Taylor Faulk, 82, of Jonesboro died early Friday morning, June 17, 2005, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 12, 1922, in Lawrence County, the daughter of Willie and Hannah Madden Taylor. Mrs. Faulk was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husbands, Curtis Foster and Ray Faulk; a son, Lewayne Foster; two sisters, Emmie Ferguson and Floedith Taylor; and seven brothers, Roy Taylor, Jesse Taylor, Bob Taylor, Zeke Taylor, Bill Taylor, Gene Taylor and Lee Taylor.
Mrs. Faulk is survived by a son, J.R. Foster and his wife, Dorothy, of Garland, Texas; a daughter, Jean Swann and her husband, Burr, of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Deborah Lace and her husband, Mike, of Garland, Texas, Nancy Felts and her husband, Marty, of Eugene, Oreg., Brock Swann and his wife, Jeri Lynn, of Piggott and Tonya Coomer and her husband, Dane, of Piggott; three great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; two sisters, Louvell Duncan of Swifton and Lutresha Cates of Lebanon, Mo.; a brother, Woodrow Taylor of Cloverbend; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2005, in the Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with Brock Swann officiating. Pallbearers were Tony Taylor, Jim Taylor, Gary Taylor, Phil Taylor, David Cates and Wendell Saffell. Burial followed in the Clover Bend Cemetery.

Chester Floyd Pollard
Chester Floyd Pollard, 83, of Pollard died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at his home in Pollard.
He was born on March 28, 1922, in Carryville, the son of the late Thomas Ray and Ellen Lee McCauley Pollard.
He was united in marriage to Necie Lowery on Nov. 5, 1943. They had two sons.
Mr. Pollard was a life-long resident of Clay County. He served his country in the Army as part of Patton's Third Army. He served honorably as a 50 caliber machine gunner for 294 combat days and 2,000 combate miles in Europe. He was awarded four Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. After the Army, he started and retired from farming in Pollard.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Homer, Joseph, Duward, Vernon and Hulen; and one sister, Mary Bell Pelts.
He is survived by his wife, Necie Pollard of Pollard; two sons, Leslie Pollard and wife, Suzanne, of Corning and Gary Pollard of Pollard; two grandchildren, Garrett Pollard and wife, Samantha, of Pollard and Autumn Pollard of Corning; one brother, Enos Pollard of Rector; and a special friend, Jim Corder of Corning.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at New Hope Cemetery
with Richard Akins officiating. Pallbearers were his sons, Leslie and Gary; grandson, Garrett; and special friend, Jim Corder.

W.V. (Vaughter) Irwin
W.V. (Vaughter) Irwin, 95, of Pollard died Thursday, June 23, at his residence.
He was born April 29, 1910, in Pollard, the son of the late Thomas and Jennie Hall Irwin.
He was united in marriage to Gladys Robbins on Sept. 1, 1936. She preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 1986.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi Orey and Gertrude Bradshaw.
He is survived by one daughter, Gwen McKenney and husband, Gary, of Pollard; one niece, Demetra Derdeyne and husband, Jack, of Fort Worth, Texas; two nephews, Philip Orey of Pollard and James Orey of Arizona; two step-grandchildren, Garrett McKenney of Cabot and Rachel Morgan and husband, Mark, of Harrisburg; one step-great-granddaughter, Gretchen Morgan; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rev. Loy Culver officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery
at Pollard. Active pallbearers were John Brawner, Nick Yount, Don McNeeley, Don Holifield, Gary Conley and Gaylon Burkman. Honorary pallbearers included Doyne Holifield and Sonny Jackson.

Janetta C. Binkley Cossey
Janetta C. Binkley Cossey, 64, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, in Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, S.C.
She was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Piggott, the daughter of Frances Johnson Binkley and the late Joseph Osborn Binkley. She graduated from Piggott High School and Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge.
She continued her education and taught elementary school in Flint, Mich. In later years she moved back to Piggott, attended Practical Nursing School and worked in the hospital at Kennett. She then moved to Jackson, Mo., where she worked at Dale Nursing Home.
Due to ill health, she retired and moved to Georgetown to be near her son. She was a member of the Fireside Ministries working with the youth, president of the Georgetown Housing Authorities, did volunteer work in different civic activities and taught an independent Bible study class for shut-ins and the elderly twice a week. She loved the Lord and helping others.
Her hobbies included quilting, oil painting, crafts and silk flower arranging. She has a busy active life before cancer took her home to be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Cossey of Kennett.
Survivors are her former husband, Donald Howard Cartwright of Flint, Mich.; a son, Don Cartwright, and grandson, Nathanial, of Georgetown, S.C.; her mother Frances Johnson Binkley, formerly of Piggott, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother, Darrell Binkley of Piggott; nieces, nephews and many other friends.
Funeral services were held at Graham Funeral Home in Georgetown with Rev. William Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

Ronald Edward Hasty
Ronald Edward Hasty, 66, of Piggott died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.
He was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Middle Brooke, Mo., the son of the late Jake Hasty and Gertrude Hasty.
He was united in marriage to Margie Kinney on Oct. 28, 1972, in St. Louis.
Mr. Hasty was a forklift operator at Wise in Piggott and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Hasty of Piggott; two sons, David Satterfield of Dallas and Steve Satterfield of Piggott; two daughters, Brenda Satterfield of Fairdealing, Mo., and Melinda Satterfield of Salem, Mo.; three sisters, Irene and husband, Raymond, Cathy and Janie; four grandchildren, Jason Satterfield, Crystal Satterfield, David Satterfield and Steven Satterfield, all of Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Sebastian Satterfield and Jordon Satterfield, both of Texas.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, in the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell.

Lyndon Turner
Lyndon Turner, 80, of Piggott died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, in the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born March 13, 1925, in Ferris, Texas, the son of the late Iris Claude and Della Mae Cloud Turner.
He was united in marriage to Icey Bowling on Dec. 21, 1984.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Tolbert; and one sister, Barbara Ann Nalley.
He is survived by his wife, Icey Turner of Piggott; three daughters, Pamela Hernandez and Elizabeth Turner, both of Porter, Texas, and Diane Fisk of New Caney, Texas; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Deborah Dempsey and Laura Ann Mayon, both of Liberty, Texas; one stepson, Larry Couch of Liberty, Texas; two sisters, Gladys Hefley of Havanah and Frances Gleeson of Dallas, Texas; one brother, James Turner of Irving, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Laura Gross and Kay Ludlows; a brother-in-law, Johnny Bowling; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Anthony Dowdy officiating. Burial followed in Porter, Texas.

Justin Pentecost
Justin Pentecost, 19, of Neelyville, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005.
He was born Sept. 8, 1986, in Paragould, the son of Greg Baldwin and Theresa Pentecost.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Creameans; grandparents, Johnny and Earlene Pentecost; and great-grandparents, Lee and Lizzie Williams.
He is survived by his father, Greg Baldwin of Jonesboro; grandmother, Wanda Baldwin of Jonesboro; two uncles and aunts, Johnny Pentecost and Shamie Warren of Neelyville, Mo., and Lisa and Jeff Arnold of Rector; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Wayne Bowman and Larry Bates officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dewayne Ritter, Marvin Ritter, Jim Curtis, Derek McGuire, Mickey Hull, Jerry Hull, Kevin Biner and Doug Householder.

John "Jake" Wesley Beecher
John "Jake" Wesley Beecher, 73, of McDougal died on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at his residence.
He was born April 16, 1932, in Fisher, the son of Henry Ward Beecher and Cecil Hogan Beecher Malding.
He was united in marriage to Arveda Melton on Oct. 29, 1955. They had four children.
Mr. Beecher was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Marty Alan Beecher and Tony Dale Beecher; and two brothers, David Woodrow Beecher and James Sanford Beecher.
Survivors include his wife, Arveda Beecher of McDougal; one daughter, Lana Jean Nelson of Corning; one son, Farris A. Beecher and wife, Tamie, of Coon Island, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sonya Elizabeth Thompson, Steven Wayne Beecher and Ashley Daniele Nelson; one brother, Bob Beecher of Corning; one half-brother, Charles Malding of Peach Orchard; three half-sisters, Lois Guynes of DeSoto, Mo., Mary Jane Carpenter of Lake Alfred, Fla., and Martha Warbritton of Neelyville, Mo.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, in the New Hope Cemetery
at Pollard. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery.
