Paul Gardette Griffith Sr.
Paul Gardette Griffith Sr., 90, of Mt. Ida died on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs.
He was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Greenway, the son of the late Samuel Kenneth Griffith and Cora Malone Griffith.
Griffith was a long-time member and deacon of the First Baptist Churches in Piggott and Mt. Ida. He was one of the original co-owners of the Home For The Golden Years in Piggott and Paragould.
Mr. Griffith was a former president of the Arkansas Nursing Home Association and at one time served as Mayor of the City of Piggott.
After moving to Mt. Ida in the early 70's, Griffith became the local Chamber of Commerce Coordinator and was instrumental in founding the Quartz Crystal Festival and Charlie Weaver Days.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Neva Winton Griffith; and two brothers, Earl and Kelsey Griffith.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Josephine Griffith; two sons, Paul G. Griffith Jr. of Memphis and Richard M. Griffith of Paragould; two daughters, Nancy Hardcastle of Piggott and Becky Sater of Memphis; three stepchildren, Bill Jackson of Mt. Ida, Lisa Simpson and Teresa Osburn, both of Pearcy; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Ida with Bro. John Guera and Bro. Don Jones officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Ida Cemetery.
Loleda Allen
Loleda Allen, 88, of Gideon, Mo., died on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at the Gideon Care Center.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1917, in Wardell, Mo., the daughter of the late Grover and Leah Haywood McDaniel.
Mrs. Allen was formerly a cook at the Gideon Schools.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Durrell McDaniel; and one sister, Valerie Cain.
She is survived by two daughters, Patty Breeden and husband, Jim, of Holcomb and JoAnn Reesha of Kennett; a son, Terry Allen and wife, Nell, of Piggott; one brother, Doyle McDaniel of Wood River, Ill.; one grandson, Dr. Scott Allen of Jonesboro; two granddaughters, Krysty Holt of Kennett and Terica Allen of Piggott; one stepgrandson, Larry Cloninger of Little Rock; one stepgranddaughter, Jean Cloninger of Piggott; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (today), Feb. 1, 2006, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Gideon with Rev. Cleo Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery
in Gideon.

Dorothy Jean Goodman
Dorothy Jean Goodman, 66, of Armes Chapel Community, Tenn., died on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at her home after months of illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Maggie Lee Clemons; a sister, Mary Ann Myres; and two infant sons, Larry and Barry Thrasher.
She is survived by her husband, William Raymond Goodman of Wartburg, Tenn.; son, Roy Thrasher of Wartburg; three daughters, Jane Mullins and husband, Gerald, of Wartburg, Teresa Brown and husband, Bill, of Wartburg and Rhonda Schultz and husband, Glen, of Toledo, Ohio; six granddaughters, Sherry Cashmore of Wartburg, Jennifer Aydelotte of Harriman, Marsha King of Ohio, Carrie Ward of Ohio, Tara Brown of Wartburg and Gena Thrasher of Arkansas; four grandsons, Beau Cashmore of Wartburg, Shane Rehman of Ohio and Billy and Wesley Brown of Wartburg; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Billie Lee Lack and her husband, David, of Piggott; two brothers, John Howard Clemons and wife, Dianne, of Kennett and Charles Lloyd Clemons and wife, Jane, of Kenosha, Wisc.; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, in Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. The funeral service followed at 8 p.m. with Bro. Charles Webb and Bro. Mike Barnes officiating. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, in Lane Cemetery
at Lancing, Tenn.
Jewell J. Johnson-Brunsden
Jewell J. Johnson-Brunsden, 81, of Linden, Mich., died on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, at Riverbend, Mich.
She was born Aug. 23, 1924, in Piggott, the daughter of Doc and Julia (Horn) Lingle.
She was united in marriage to Sidney E. Johnson on Feb. 21, 1942. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1996.
She was employed by Grand Blanc Schools and General Motors as a cook. She had lived in Linden since 1967, coming from Grand Blanc, Mich.
She attended Grand Blanc Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, music, snowmobiling and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Johnny; a brother, Everett Lingle; great-granddaughter, Teanna Rachel; and one stepdaughter, Jan Brown.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin "Ted" Brunsden; daughters, Sandra Jean Montague and husband, David, of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Deborah Ann Walsh and husband, John, of Linden, Mich.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a cousin, Marshall Horn of Burton, Mich.; and two stepchildren, Larry and Ted Brunsden.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 East Broad Street in Linden. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Loyd Benson
Loyd Benson, 78, of Piggott died on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the Piggott Community Hospital.
He was born on Boydsville, the son of the late Loyd and Opel (Irby) Benson.
He was a fireman, retiring from the Pontiac Fire Department in Michigan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louis Ann (Victor) Benson; and one brother, Velus Benson.
Survivors include one daughter, Dawn Benson of California; one son, Jeff Benson of Michigan; a cousin, Bill Irby Jr. of Piggott; and many special friends and other relatives.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at the Mitchell Cemetery
in Greenway with Bro. Jerry Morgan officiating. Visitation preceded the services.

Sgt. James Edward "Jim" Rainbolt
Sgt. James Edward "Jim" Rainbolt, 58, of Austin, Ark., died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.
He was an Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam era, and was employed with the Arkansas State Police for 27 years. He attended the Beebe First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Rainbolt.
Survivors include his wife, Clarissa "Chris" Rainbolt of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Brent McCullar of Paragould and Leanna and Jeff Guillory of Columbia, Mo.; his mother, Ruth Helen Rainbolt of Paragould; brother, Billy Rainbolt of Charlottesville, Va.; sister, Ruth Ann Mondy of Springfield, Mo., and four grandchildren, Gena and Tyner McCullar and Lauren and Ben Guillory.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Terry Parrish and Rev. Tracy Henson officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery
in Pollard with Heath Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Harley Abraham Russell
Harley Abraham Russell, 88, of St. Francis died on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at his home.
He was born Jan. 17, 1918, in St. Francis, the son of the late Rex and Nellie (St. Clair) Russell.
Mr. Russell was of the Baptist faith. He served his country in World War II. He retired from the United States Air Force and later retired from a civil service job.
He was united in marriage to Bobbie Joe Blagg on July 3, 1956. They had one son and two daughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Joe Russell of the home; one son, William "Bill" Harley Russell of Piggott; two daughters, Debbie Gardner and husband, Johnny, of Crockett and Tammie Causey of St. Francis; seven grandchildren, Ashley Midkiff and husband, Aaron, Justin Hooten, Brock Russell and wife, Fallon, Dillon Causey and wife, Cassie, Cory Causey, Zackary Russell and Barrett Russell; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Russell, Cheyenne Hooten, Dakota Hooten and Emma Grace Hooten; one brother, Jackie Russell and wife, Janet, of Campbell; and one sister, Nelda Lewis of McDougal.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Bro. O.H. Brooks officiating. Burial followed at the Gravel Hitt Cemetery
in St. Francis. Pallbearers were Justin Hooten, Brock Russell, Dillon Causey, Cory Causey, Zackary Russell and Barrett Russell.

Harry Thomas Highfill
Harry Thomas Highfill, 73, of Rector died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was born Oct. 26, 1932, in Paragould to the late Everett and Audie (Walker) Highfill and was married Sept. 18, 1965 to Clara Ann Greenway.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Wright; two brothers, James and Danny Highfill, and one sister, Mary Sterling.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict, a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and had worked at Bucy Implement Company and as a carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Ann Highfill, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Dixie Highfill of Rector; four daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Sid Schlenker of Bismarck, Regina and Randy Cravens of Portageville, Mo., Judy and Tommy Sisneros of Rector and Felecia Bay Derring of Paragould; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Barbara and Arlos O'Dell of St. Charles, Mo., Joyce and Jack Burns of Niles, Mich., Sharon Grubbs of Piggott and Annetta Greenway of Piggott; 13 grandchildren, Joey, Theresa, Jessica, Christopher, Vincent, Venessa, Bethany, Bradley, Adam, Kayla, Cody, Morgan and Huston; and two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Isabella.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Marvin Tate and Bro. Larry Jolly officiating. Burial was in Linwood Cemetery
at Paragould.
Active pallbearers were Donnie Greenway, David Brown, Dick Harris, Marvin Jolly, Don Mosley and David Mosley. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Ed Martin and Floyd Ellis.
Dorothy Evalene Grubb
Dorothy Evalene Grubb, 76, of Peach Orchard died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Piggott Community Hospital.
She was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Knob to the late Thomas Edward and Tollie Jane Moore. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Grubb.
She was of the Baptist faith and was retired from the shoe factory at Corning.
Survivors include a son, Coleman "Buster" Grubb of Piggott; four daughters, Retha Booth of Jonesboro, Marsha Anders of Peach Orchard, Diane Shelton of Success and Dotty Spinks of Clarksdale, Mo.; two brothers, Virgal Moore of Rockford, Ill., and Clarence Moore of Charlotte, Tenn.; two sisters, Edith McElyea of Rockford, Ill., and Desma Herren of Paragould; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Jerry Massey and Bro. Wayne Baldwin officiating. Interment was in Woodland Heights Cemetery
in Rector with Mitchell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were David Grubb, Anthony Vallance, Joey Spinks, Dustin Grubb, Jessie Spinks and Alex Shelton.
Della Fay Redman
Della Fay Redman, 97, of the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, formerly of Piggott, died on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at the Piggott Community Hospital.
She was married to William Tell Bowman on July 5, 1927. He preceded her in death. She was then married to James Clovis Redman on July 5, 1941, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Redman was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, William Edd and Lavinna Stanley Webster; one brother, David Webster; and one sister, Nellie Bishop.
Survivors include four sons, Terry Redman of Piggott, Howard Redman of Lakeland, Fla., Tell Junior Bowman of Milford, Mich., and Eugene Bowman of Lakeland, Fla.; one daughter, Ozella Bowman Taylor of Rector; one sister, Agnes Bennett of Michigan; 27 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott. Burial followed in Mitchell Cemetery
at Greenway. Active pallbearers were Tommy Redmon, Scott Taylor, Mike Bowman, Kurt Bowman, Randy Bowman and Wayne Redman. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Redman, Troy Redman and Steve Chisgar.
