Robert Lee Urton
Robert Lee Urton, 66, of Piggott died Nov. 2 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was born Nov. 15, 1940, in Indain Hills, Ohio, and was the son of Merlin Urton and Mona B. Brady Julian.
He is survived by a son, Robert Urton, Jr., of Pocahontas; his mother, Mona Julian of Valparaiso, Ind.; two brothers, two sisters and many other relatives and friends.
Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial services will be set for a later date.
Elsie Moore
Elsie Moore, 89, of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Ms. Moore was born March 7, 1918, in Clarkton, to Charles Thomas and Sybil King Dickerson.
She was a member of Langley Methodist Church, but attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Harviell after moving to Poplar Bluff. She was a nursing assistant at Children's Hospital in St. Louis, prior to her retirement in 1971.
On Nov. 23 1938, she married James Patterson Moore in Piggott. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Williams and her husband Wes, of Denver; a son, George Moore and his wife Mary Lou of Poplar Bluff; eight grandchildren, Jason Williams, Staci Maldonado, Stephani Williams, Tom Moore, Becki Yetman, Cindy Moore, Eddie Fiske and Sarah Armes; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Greene, and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Michael Jerome Moore; a great-grandson, Christopher Arvel Fiske, and two brothers, Earl Charles Dickerson and John Wesley Dickerson.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 16, at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott with Elder Ron Daughhetee officiating. Burial followed in the Gravel Hill Cemetery
at St. Francis.
Pallbearers were Tom Moore, Ronald Ficke, Sean Sutton, Eddie Fiske, Larry Arme, and Michael Yetman.

Erma Nell Parker
Erma Nell Parker, 80, of Piggott, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, in the Piggott Community Hospital.
She was born March 2, 1927, in Holcomb, and was the daughter of the late William and Anna Johnson Byrd.
She was united in marriage to Robert W. Parker on Oct. 8, 1949. The couple had one daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; two brothers, Billy Joe and Bobby Byrd.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Maynard of Homosassa, Fla.; two grandsons, Danny Wayne Maynard of Macomb, Mich., and Scott Allen Maynard of Manton, Mich.; four great-grandchildren, Scott, Tyler, Danny Ray and Christian; a brother, Jimmy Byrd of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; a sister, Betty Parker of Piggott, and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Jack Cole officiating. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Pharis Edwards, Charles Underwood, Ted McComb, Lester Edwards, J.D. Cook and James Featherston. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
Joan Evelyn McCarty
Joan Evelyn McCarty, 53, of Pollard, passed away Monday, December 31, 2007, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
She was born September 1, 1954, in Brinkley, and was the daughter of the late Ruben and Evelyn Marie Johnson Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica McCarty and her brother, Charles Duncan.
She is survived by her husband George McCarty of Pollard; two children, Michael McCarty and wife Melissa of Pollard and Rebecca Wooten and husband Trey of Piggott; four grandchildren, Derrick Reynolds, Dustin McCarty, Dominic Wooten, and Trinity Wooten; two sisters, Betty McMahan of Tillamook, Oreg. and Francise Holmes of Ben, Oreg; five brothers, Jessie Duncan of Little Rock, Billy Joe Duncan of Benton, Michael Duncan of Salem, Oreg., Larry Duncan of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Paul Duncan of Immokalee, Fla.; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Tim McCluskey officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery

Rev. Leonard Bunch
Rev. Leonard Bunch, 74, of Black Oak, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Memphis.
He was born in Black Oak, but lived in Jonesboro most of his life. He also lived in Piggott before moving back to Black Oak four years ago.
He was a long-time Baptist minister who founded and pastored several Baptist churches in Northeast Arkansas. He was also a retired salesman and a member of the New Hope-Black Oak Baptist Church near Caraway.
Rev. Bunch was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the 
Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Bunch; a brother, M.G. Bunch; and his parents, Charlie and Myrtle McHalffey Bunch.
He is survived by his wife, Annette J. Bunch of the home; two sons, Lynn Bunch of Little Rock and Tim Bunch of Jonesboro; one daughter, Sherri Gray of Paragould; three step-daughters, Carla Swan of Bay, Janie Ellis of Searcy and Cindy Adams of Russellville; two step-sons, Darrell Jones of Kensett and Ricky Jones of Harrisburg; one sister, Inez Weaver of Shreveport, La.; one brother, Monroe Bunch of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Carson Bunch, Stephanie Gray, Justin Gray and Branddon Gray; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, in Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro.
Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery
in Jonesboro with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pleas Henderson Akers
Pleas Henderson Akers, 81, of Piggott died at the VA Nursing Home in Poplar Bluff on Monday, April 5, 2004.
He was born in Kennett on July 6, 1922, son of Pleas A. and Florence Henderson Akers.
He married Nelldean Smith on Nov. 1, 1941.
He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Old Hickory Division. He was wounded in action and taken as a prisoner of war during the Battle of the Bulge.
As a young man he worked in a CCC Camp in Iowa. He was also a painter, drywall contractor and built many houses in the Kennett area. In his later years he built and refinished furniture and was famous for his many homemade crafts.
Mr. Akers was a life-time member of the Disabled American Veterans, of which he was a past commander, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kennett.
He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; three sisters; and one son, Robert.
He is survived by his wife; three sons and four daughters-in-law, Johnny Akers and wife, Karen, of San Bernadino, Calif., David Akers and wife, Becky, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Michael Akers and wife, Jacy, of Piggott, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Akers of Memphis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn Low and husband, Myron, of Piggott and Brenda Dicus and husband, James, of Kennett; one brother, Don L. Akers of Saginaw, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Bro. Kim Bridges and Bro. Kevin Murray officiating.
A military burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery
in Kennett.
Clifford "Pa" Hoyt Barnhart
Clifford "Pa" Hoyt Barnhart, 91, of Marmaduke, died Sunday April 4, 2004, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.
He was born Aug. 26, 1912, in Greene County to the late Lilburn Barnhart and Lena (Smith) Barnhart.
He was retired from the Greene County Road Department after 31 years of service, was a newspaper deliverer in Marmaduke for the Paragould Daily Press and a Marmaduke city employee. He was a lifelong member of the community and a member of Marmaduke General Baptist Church.
He was married March 11, 1938, to Nellie Mae Frances Golden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lilburn and Lena Barnhart; his wife, Nellie Mae Barnhart; two sons, James Barnhart and Jerry Barnhart; one son-in-law, Ted Mitchell; one great-grandson, Andrew Mitchell; two brothers, Carmen "Cotton Boll" Barnhart and Dolf Barnhart.
He is survived by one son, Danny Barnhart of Marmaduke; one daughter, Frances Mitchell of Marmaduke; one daughter-in-law, Laveda Barnhart; one brother, Donald Barnhart of Arizona; six grandchildren, Scott Mitchell, Tammy Johns, Jerome Mitchell, Lisa Fletcher, Dale Mitchell, all of Paragould, and Jamie Bennett of Marmaduke; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mary Ann Stokes of Holy Pond, Ala.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday April 6, 2004, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke with Bro. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial was in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery
in Marmaduke with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangement.
Pallbearers were Scott Mitchell, Jerome Mitchell, Dale Mitchell, Jack Fletcher, Casey Fletcher, Jeremy Mitchell, Josh Mitchell and Zachary Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers were Gary Franks, Doyne Shaw, Johnny Bozarth, Scott Flannigan and Edward Bennett.
Arthur Louis Baggett Jr.
Arthur Louis Baggett Jr., 27, of Campbell died Tuesday, March 30, 2004.
He was born Jan. 20, 1977, in Poplar Bluff, the son of Arthur Louis Baggett Sr. and Brenda Lee Paul Baggett of Campbell.
He married Lisa Christine Innes on Oct. 1, 2002, in Piggott.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his grandparents, Raymond and Ethel Paul and Ranzy and Stella Baggett.
He is survived by his children, Brittney Renee Baggett and Arthur Louis Baggett III; his step-daughter, Nicole Lowry; his parents; one brother; two sisters; three half-brothers; and four half-sisters.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 2, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with Rev. Luther Crane officiating. Burial followed in Bethany Cemetery
in Campbell.

Almeda Nettles Woodard
Almeda Nettles Woodard, 85, of Campbell died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in the National Health Care in Franklin, Tenn.
She was born March 3, 1919, the daughter of the late Harvey and Grace Warren Gower.
She married Bynum Borden Nettles on June 18, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1978. She married Orlie Woodard on March 5, 1988. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Woodard worked on the farm, in the home and was employed by the Sanders Confectionary in Highland Park, Mich., for 19 years.
She was an active member of the Church of Christ and was an example of how to show love to others. She loved people and she loved to be with her friends and loved ones. She was always working, serving and caring for others above her own needs. She was known for saying how "precious" her loved ones were to her, and she loved to have a fellowship party.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Hershel Gower.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Borden and Marva Nettles of Franklin, Tenn., and Billy and Joyce of Macomb Township, Mich.; four grandchildren, David, Bruce, Brad and Jon Nettles; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Crow and Johnnie King; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2004, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel in Piggott with C.O. Evans officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery.
