James Clifford Glidewell

James Clifford Glidewell, 76, of Caraway, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 10, 2004, at his home.

He was born in St. Francis and lived most of his adult life in Caraway.

He was a retired depot agent with Cotton Belt Railroad, a member of the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge 207 in St. Francis and a member of the First Baptist Church in Caraway, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Elsie Glidewell; and by a brother, Ira Glidewell.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Glidewell of the home; one son, James H. Glidewell of Caraway; a daughter, Myra Morris of Russellville; one sister, Shirley Haywood of St. Francis; five grandchildren, Heather Morris Johnson, Sarah Morris, Chris Glidewell, Ian Glidewell and John Glidewell; and two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Glidewell and Elijah Glidewell.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Caraway with Bro. Rick Stevens and Bro. Zane Gragg officiating. Burial followed in the Caraway Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Robert Adcock, Donnie Kelton, Bill Riley, John Starnes, Robert Banks and Larry Barrett.

Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Schoolfield, L.T. Gibson, Floyd Johnson, Asa Boatman, Paul Taylor, Alan Boatman, Oscar Kee, Mitch Tipton and the Adult One Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church in Caraway.

Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro was in charge of the arrangements.

Those wishing to leave a lasting memorial are asked to consider the Caraway First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 188, Caraway, AR 72419, or the St. Bernard's Hospice Program, 2813 Forest Home Road, Jonesboro, AR 72401.

Emogene Simpson Irby

Emogene Simpson Irby, 91, of Piggott died Aug. 15, 2004, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful and loyal member of the South Thornton Church of Christ. She was happiest spending time with her family and attending her church. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, playing golf and traveling. She worked with her husband through many successful business ventures.

Mrs. Irby was born on Dec. 5, 1912, in Boydsville, the daughter of late Charles and Hannah Blackburn Simpson. She married William E. Irby on Sept. 16, 1933.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Irby; and one son, Charles E. Irby.

Survivors include one son, William C. Irby; daughter-in-law, Beverly Irby; three granddaughters, Gail Robinson of Flatwoods, Ky., Lynae Cole of Piggott and Allison Jacobs of Fort Smith, Ark.; and five great-grandchildren, Lauren Cole, Ryan Robinson, Daniel Robinson, Mallory Cole and Russell Jacobs.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at the Irby Funeral Home in Piggott. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Phillip Robinson, John Cole, Ryan Robinson, Daniel Robinson, David Simpson and Tom Matheny.

Jackie Eldon Stahl

Jackie Eldon Stahl, age 64, of Mulkeytown, Ill. died Aug. 12, 2004, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion, Ill. Mr. Stahl was born Oct. 1, 1939, to the late Eldon and Opal (Neeley) Stahl.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Opal Stahl; one brother; Bob Stahl; and one grandson, Terry Lynn Roth.

He is survived by his wife, Diane of Mulkeytown, and family, Lana and Mark Farnel of Troy, Mo., Chrissy and Chad Nikolich of Christopher, Ill., Tom Roth of Herrin, Ill., and Terry Roth of Nashville, Ill.; five grandchildren, Beth Ann Farnel, Brittany and Garrett Nikolich, Lacey Roth and Joshua Roth; five brothers, Felix Stahl of O'fallon, Ill., Dueane Stahl of Harrah, Okla., James Houston Stahl of St. Louis, Mo., Bill Stahl and Larry Stahl of Hot Springs, Ark.; one sister, Janet Norris of Hot Springs Village, Ark.

Funeral services were held Aug.14, 2004, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, Ill., with Rev. Gary Farthing of Christ View Church officiating. Burial was in the Mulkeytown Cemetery, Mulkeytown, Ill.

William Paul Foulk

William Paul Foulk, 82, of Piggott died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Stanford, Ark., the son of William Judson Foulk and Myrtle Elizabeth Hutchins Foulk.

Foulk was a life-long farmer and until his death also owned and operated Foulk's Two-Way Radio Supply.

He was a veteran of World War II and served his country in the battles and campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe with the 90th Infantry Division, known as the "Tough Ombres".

He was a member of the South Thornton Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Judson and Myrtle; his sisters, Ruth Warren, Mary Gregory and Christina Wallis; and a brother, Harry Faulk.

Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Rebecca Blocker Foulk of the home; his son, William Rodney Foulk of Piggott; his daughter, Paulette Foulk Grimes of Piggott; four grandchildren, Lisa Dawn Yon and Brian Damon Grimes of Piggott, Cristal Friederich of St. Jacob, Ill., and Chad Foulk of Grant Fork, Ill.; eight great-grandchildren, Natasha Seal and Dillan Cate of Piggott, Joseph Grimes of Frisco, Texas, Cole Featherstone of Blowing Rock, N.C., Houston Foulk and McCaleh Foulk of Piggott, Erica Friederich of St. Jacob, Ill., and Austin Foulk of Carlinville, Ill.; he was soon to be a great-great-grandfather. He is also survived by one beloved brother, Avis Franklin Faulk of Piggott.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were his family, Avis Franklin Faulk Jr., Brian Damon Grimes, Royce Dillan Cate, Michael Lynn Yon, Joe Friederich and Ronnie Graddy.

Wallace B. Lewallen

Wallace B. Lewallen, 76, of Corning died Aug. 19, 2004, at the Med Center in Memphis.

He was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Alicia, Ark., the son of Bill and Carrie Dobbs Lewallen.

He was united in marriage to Freida Oneita Sauls on Sept. 3, 1947.

Mr. Lewallen was of the Methodist faith and a member of a Masonic Lodge in Hoxie. He was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Lewallen; and one son, Kelly Lewallen.

He is survived by his wife, Freida Sauls Lewallen of the home in Corning; one daughter, Suzanne Daniels of Caraway; one son, Wallace Gaylon Lewallen; his mother, Carrie Lewallen of Pocahontas; two brothers, Dennis Lewallen of Nelson, Ill., and Dale Lewallen of Pocahontas; four grandchildren, Marcus Price, T. Daniels, Lacey Lewallen and Channing Lewallen; four great-grandchildren, Dalton Price, Chandler Daniels, Cayci Daniels and Cole Lewallen.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning with Blue Riggan as the special speaker. Burial followed in the Corning Cemetery.

Ermert Funeral Home of Corning was in charge of the arrangements.

Omer Meade

Omer Meade, 86, of Piggott died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at the Murphy Health Care in Piggott.

He was born Jan. 5, 1916, in Piggott, the son of the late Robert and Annie Mae Lindley Meade.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Meade in 1993; one son Homer Meade Jr.; one sister; Dovie Crittenden; two brothers, Dewayne Meade and Lennis Meade.

He is survived by one son, Wayne Meade of Moberly, Mo; four daughters; Sadine Dixon of Piggott; Stella Mae Romines of Piggott; Judy Dawson of Imperial, Mo and Louise Davis of Piggott; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Meade and Ivan Meade both of Piggott; one sister Ruby Fair of Piggott, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 19, in Hoggard and Sons Funeral Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating.

Burial was in Piggott Cemetery with Hoggard and Sons in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Billy Campbell Jr., Billy Campbell Sr., Ted Hackworth, Jason Davis, Tracy Dawson and Greg Meade.

Kenneth Howard Harmon

Kenneth Howard Harmon, 72, of Melber, Ky., died Friday, Aug. 13, at his residence.

He was a farmer, a member of New Concord Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a lifetime member of Plymouth Rock Masonic Lodge No.47 in Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Harmon.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dora Griffith Harmon; one daughter, Debbie Harmon of Melber, Ky.; one son, Kenneth Richard Harmon, of Melber, Ky.; his mother, Ruth Harvill Harmon, of Piggott; five sisters, Inez Pierce of St.Louis, Wanda Wade, of Goldbar, Wash., Bonnie Todd of Hardy, Ark.; Maxine Pace of Miami and Bernice Wiseman of Piggott; one brother, Johny Harmon of Melber; six grandchildren; Jamie Spraggs of Hickory, Ky., Melissa Beckham of Louisville, Ky., and Joey Wyman, Tony Harmon, Danielle Harmon and Hope Harmon, all of Melber; three great-grandchildren, Coty Spraggs of Arlington,Ky., and Brendon Spraggs and Brittany Spraggs, both of Hickory,Ky., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2p.m., Monday, Aug. 16 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner and Orr Funeral Home with Ronnie Glisson officiating.

Burial was in New Concord Cemetery in Melber, Ky.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to New Concord Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Terry Thurston, 4298 St. Rt. 1820, Melber, Ky, 42069.

Bernice Lambert

Bernice Lambert, 86, of Cardwell, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Oct. 27, 1918, at Red Onion, Mo., the daughter of the late A.L. "Short" and Emma Richardson Mize.

She married Morris R. Lambert on Jan. 12, 1946. They had two children. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2000.

She was also preceded in death by four infant brothers.

She is survived by one son, Morris Alan Lambert of Kennett; one daughter, Anice Beasley of Cardwell; two granddaughters, Deanna Swindle of Cardwell and Heather Styer of Cape Girardeau; one grandson, Adam Lambert of Las Vegas; three great-granddaughters, Brittany, Shelby and Madison; one great-grandson, Ryley; one sister, Anita Hawkins of Paragould; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, in the First Baptist Church in Cardwell with Rev. Harold Dunbar officiating. Burial was in the Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell.

Active pallbearers were Allen Williams, Steve Jackson, Tommy Branch, Brad Williams, Brent Davis, Cliff Cupp, Dwight Harrison and Vic Hosman. Honorary pallbearers were Calvin Hoggard, Eulas Vaughn and Grover Stewart.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Cardwell or the Cardwell Cemetery.

Mary Joyce (Simpson) O'Hara

Mary Joyce (Simpson) O'Hara, 77, of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at the Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.

She was born Nov. 21, 1927, at Pollard, the daughter of the late Lemuel L. and Mary Davis Simpson.

In her early years, she and her late husband, George W. O'Hara, lived in Poplar Bluff for a brief period of time before moving to St. Louis where she lived for 40 years.

Beginning her nursing career at the Poplar Bluff Hospital, she worked at several well-known hospitals as an L.P.N. while living in St. Louis.

She was a member of a Presbyterian Church in St. Louis and after returning to Poplar Bluff she attended the South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.

She married George W. O'Hara on Jan. 7, 1947. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1995.

She is survived by one sister, Reba Crofford of Poplar Bluff; a niece, Alleyne Essary of Nashville; a nephew, Charles Watson of Pocahontas; four great-nephews, David and Mark Essary, Jeffrey Watson and Charles Watson; three sister-in-laws, Wilma Monroe, Barbara Brown and Dorothy Cosby, and their children.

Visitation will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at the Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel with Rev. Edwin Runyan officiating. Burial will be at the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard.
