Ruby Byars

Ruby Byars, 88, of New Florence, Mo., formerly of McDougal, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at New Florence Nursing Home in New Florence.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1916, in Clarkton, Mo.

She was united in marriage to Willie Clifton Byars on April 12, 1934. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1974.

Mrs. Byars was a homemaker and attended the McDougal Community Christian Church in McDougal.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, and one son, Reginald Byars in July of 2004.

She is survived by five daughters, Anita Beecher of Corning, Luceal King of Wildwood, Mo., Ann Cunningham of Montgomery City, Mo., Wilma Dean of McAlester, Okla., and Lavada Dillard of St. Peters, Mo.; five sons, Steve Byars of Dayton, Texas, Sammy Byars of Paragould, Danny Byars of Corning, Billy Byars of St. Charles, Mo., and Alfred Byars on Dalton, Ga.; 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (today), Dec. 1, 2004, at the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning with Donald Grissom officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard.

Ermert Funeral Home, Inc., of Corning is in charge of the arrangements.

Donald Creek

Donald Creek, 71, of Paragould, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in the Veterans Hospital in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Sept. 21, 1933, in Greenway, the son of the late John and Alice Reed Creek.

He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Creek; and two brothers, Clifford Creek and Jack Creek.

He is survived by one daughter, Sherry Creek; three sons, Jerry Creek, Terry Creek and Kerry Creek, all of Texas; two brothers, Larry Creek of Rector and J.W. "Dub" Milburn of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis with Jerry Massey officiating. Burial was in the Gravel Hill Cemetery.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Lola Marie Perry

Lola Marie Perry, 95, of Piggott, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Crystal City, Mo.

She was born April 22, 1909, in Piggott, the daughter of the late John and Nellie Morgan Mowery.

She was united in marriage to Alvin Perry on Sept. 15, 1929. They had three sons.

She was a member of Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church in Piggott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Perry; one son, Richard Perry; three sisters, Gracie Holifield, Narene Glover and Sarah Russell; two brothers, Orvall Mowery and James Mowery.

She is survived by two sons, John Perry and wife, Bonnie, of Desoto, Mo.; Rev. Loyd Perry and wife, Debbie, of Hot Springs; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Willard Mowery of Fresno, Calif.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Willyne Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Neil Perry, Tom Vanmatre, Adam Perry, Brian Perry, Chris Shelton, Cary Shelton, Greg Perry and Andy Perry. Honorary pallbearers were Donald Mowery, Dickie Thompson, Jimmy Russell, Roger Mowery, Kenneth Mowery and Eddie Holifield.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wright's Chapel Methodist Church.

Nora Bessie Dover

Nora Bessie Dover, 81, of Pollard, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.

She was born March 30, 1923, in Piggott, the daughter of the late John W. and Offa N. Vaughn Johnson.

She was united in marriage to Leniel Dover on March 12, 1941. They had three children.

She was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, David Permenter; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Hardin; one brother, Winifred Johnson; three sisters, Theniel Strall, Ora Harp and Joyce Bearden.

She is survived by her husband, Leniel Dover of Pollard; two daughters, Deborah Bearden and Patricia Permenter; one son, Randy Dover, all of Pollard; eight grandchildren, Lana Mansfield of Pollard, Cassandra Smith of Millington, Tenn., April Staggs of Corning, Aaron Bearden of Kennett, Dillon Dover and Hillary Dover, both of Rogers, Ark., Ryan Magers and Nikki Blackburn, both of Pollard; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Jack Johnson of Booneville, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Danny Self officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard. Pallbearers were Jeff Mansfield, Jeffrey Mansfield, Danny Staggs, Aaron Bearden, Dillon Dover and Bryce Webb.

Jerry Reams

Jerry Reams, 69, of Piggott died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born Jan. 5, 1935, in Union City, Tenn., the son of the late Emmett Lee and Mattie Lee Roney Reams.

He was united in marriage to Betty Crittenden on Dec. 27, 1954. They had three children.

Reams graduated from Piggott High School in 1953. He worked with Crittenden Construction until he received his Master's Degree in Biology from Arkansas State University in 1968. In January of 1969 he returned to Piggott High School to begin his teaching career. During this time he inspired many young people to further their education and enter into the scientific and medical professions. He retired in March of 1995 after 25 years.

He had a passion for reading and spent many hours with a good book. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Reams of Piggott; one son, Alan Reams and wife, Melinda, of Russellville, Ark.; two daughters, Kathy Hoggard and husband, Paul, of Piggott and Lee Ann Scott and husband, Darrell, of Rogers, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Kristin and Kalyn Hoggard, Lauren, Emily and Taylor Reams, and Madison and Carson Scott; one brother, Ronnie Reams of Dexter; two sisters, Nina Blades of Poplar Bluff and Melba Walker of Dexter; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Joe Payne and Danny Self officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Crittenden, Tony Crittenden, Keith Crittenden, Roy Stender, Lee Reams and Russell Bruff.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the Piggott Public Library.

Hubert Elmer Flynt

Hubert Elmer Flynt, 89, of Rector died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born in Dawson, Texas, to the late Rufus E. and Mary Ward Flynt.

He served his community as a teacher, principal and was an active member of the Retired Teachers Association. He was a member of the Church of Christ for many years, attending at Greenway during his later years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, J.G. and Charles Nathan Flynt; and one sister, Vesta Mae Flynt.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Thelma Harris Flynt of Rector; one daughter, Marilyn Jane Flynt Cook (Dub) of Greenway; two grandchildren, David Thrasher and wife, Angie, of Richmond, Va., and Leigh Anne Kippeny and husband, Tadd, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Madison Thrasher; one sister, Joe Nell Flynt of San Antonio, Texas; and one special friend who is like a daughter, Carolyn Burris of Piggott.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at Irby Funeral Home in Piggott with Bro. Jerry Morgan officiating. Burial followed at the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Active pallbearers were Donald Burris, Allan Branson, Sid Hollis, Steve Holcomb, Newton Wells and Larry Wyss. Honorary pallbearers were Delbert Sample, Hardin Hill, Ed Wells, Leborn Estes, Steve Champ and Charles Hollis.

Irby Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Marcus Dominick Hilton

Marcus Dominick Hilton, 27, of New Orleans, La., formerly of Greenway, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in New Orleans.

He was born May 24, 1977, in Houston, Texas, the son of William Frederick Hilton and Susan Chapman Hilton.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Frederick Hilton.

He is survived by his mother, Susan Roark, and step-father, Jerry of Greenway; one brother, William Hilton and wife, Michelle, of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in the First Presbyterian Church with Wilma Hoover officiating.

Danny Wyatt

Danny Wyatt, 76, of Nimmons died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

He was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Leadington, Mo., the son of the late Obine and Mary Okla Henderson Wyatt.

He was united in marriage to Flora Fay Liles on July 7, 1944. They had four children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, Roger Dale Wyatt; one daughter, Jerry Ann Payne in 2003; and one brother, Sammy Wyatt.

He is survived by his wife, Flora Fay Wyatt of Nimmons; one son, Adrain Wyatt and wife, Jo Anne, of Hazen, Ark.; one daughter, Pam Alexander and husband, Ed, of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Alex Wyatt, Jenny Wyatt Gleason, and Kenneth and Phillip Payne; three great-grandchildren, Luke and Logan Payne, and Jacob Gleason; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (today), Dec. 15, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Hubert Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Piggott Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gary Redman, Jay Taylor, Leroy Owens, Alan Wyss, Steve Eubanks and Larry Wyss. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Hurst, Junior Hurst and Bud Taylor.

Theresa Ann Pentecost Creameans

Theresa Ann Pentecost Creameans, 35, of Rector, formerly of Corning, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in the Barnes Jewish Medical Center in St. Louis after a long illness.

She was born in Dowagiac, Mich., on July 10, 1969, the daughter of the late Earline Williams Pentecost and Johnny L. Pentecost.

She was united in marriage to Jack Creameans.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lee and Lizzie Williams and Tom and Mary Pentecost.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Creameans of Corning; one son, Justin Matthew Pentecost of Rector, formerly of Corning; one sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Jeff Arnold of Rector; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny Lee and Shammie Pentecost of Neelyville, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at the United Pentecostal Church in Piggott with Wayne Bowman officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Jim Curtis, Justin Pentecost, Darrell Arnold, Ed Burns, Keith McDaniel and Stevie Burns. Honorary Pallbearers were Billy Burr, Leroy Chavez and Ronald Burr.
