Johnnie Ray Yow

Johnnie Ray Yow, 48, of Fredericktown, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005.

He was the son of the late Henry and Dovie Holifield Yow.

He is survived by one daughter, Mindy Marie Seyer of House Springs, Mo.; one granddaughter, Emma; two brothers, Louie Ray Yow of Columbia, Mo., and Calvin "Bob" Yow of Pevely, Mo.; one sister, JoAnn Glass of Pollard; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel in Piggott. Shelly Elkins officiated.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the service.

Harold Underwood

Harold Underwood, 70, of Heber Springs, formerly of Lake City, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, in the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born Oct. 11, 1934, in Lake City, the son of the late Sam and Mabel Farris Underwood.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Jane Towers and Freda Underwood Lynn.

He is survived by one daughter, Marvella Underwood; two brothers, Everett Towers of Heber Springs and Cletis Underwood of Springfield, Ill.; two sisters, Betty L. Davis and Linda S. Davis of Sheridan, Wyo.; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Evants officiating. Burial followed in Underwood Cemetery in Piggott.

Philip Brandon Hamilton

Philip Brandon Hamilton, 21, of Greenway died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, in Greenway.

He was born Dec. 15, 1983, in Piggott, the son of Eddie Hamilton and Karen Burdin.

He is survived by his mother, Karen Winchester of Greenway; his father and step-mother, Eddie and Jenny Hamilton of Piggott; maternal grandparents, Alvie and Zell Burdin of Piggott; paternal grandparent, Christine Hamilton of Rector; one sister, Jenifer Dawes and husband, Shannon, of Greenway; great-grandmother, Vivian Stevenson of Damascus, Ark.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Ernie Rinks officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Zacek, Chad Burdin, Joey Burdin, Adam Shaw, Adam Hackworth and Wesley Harmon.

Taft Estes

Taft Estes, 80, of Piggott died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.

He was born Jan. 28, 1925, in Brilliant, Ala., the son of the late Rube and Ethel Roden Estes.

He was united in marriage to Bernell Smart on March 4, 1944. They had two daughters.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Ray Estes; one sister, Helen Risener; and one step-sister, Velma Manigold.

He is survived by his wife, Bernell Estes of Piggott; two daughters, Linda Phares of Imboden, Ark., and Jamie Estes McKinney of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Kristie Stallings and Shawn Phares, both of Imboden; two great-grandchildren, Jake Stallings and Lakyn Phares; one sister, Betty Tonkins of Pheonix, Ariz.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Richard Akins and Ken Roden officiating. Burial followed in the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Pallbearers were Dennis Templeton, David Donnelly, Shawn Phares, Robert Stallings, Brent Coomer and Steve Piptone.

Earl Franklin Hoggard

Earl Franklin Hoggard, 82, of Paragould, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Sharp County, Ark., the son of the late Cecil and Julia Hennessee Hoggard.

Mr. Hoggard was a city worker for LaPorte, Ind., and also farmed around Milligan Ridge. He was a member of the Church of God in LaPorte.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maple Ruby Hoggard; three sisters, Lola, Bertha and Virgie; and two brothers, Paul and Bobby.

He is survived by one son, Marvin E. Hoggard of Paragould; one daughter, Earlene Shrable of Paragould; two sisters, Nona Mitton of Buchanon, Mich., and Florence V. Adams of Wheatfield, Ind.; six granchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with Rev. Marty Russell and Rev. Ryan Shrable officiating. Burial followed in Linwood Cemetery.

Heath Funeral Home of Paragould was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Beth E. Morgan

Beth E. Morgan, 75, of Nimmons, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, in the St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born July 30, 1929, in Greenway, the daughter of the late Anderson N. and Ethel Williams Jones.

She was united in marriage to Bill C. Morgan on Dec. 24, 1949. They had two children. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1995.

Mrs. Morgan was a retired elementary school teacher of 42 years. She started the Piggott Elementary School Library in 1985. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and served two years as secretary.

She was a member of the Nimmons Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Collier, and one brother, Earl Jones.

She is survived by one son, Neil Morgan and wife, Pam, of Piggott; one daughter, Cathy McCarron and husband, Pat, of Conway; four grandchildren, Sean McCarron and wife, Emily, Brian McCarron, Kaitlin Morgan and Kayla Morgan; one great-grandson, James Patrick; one brother, Eric Jones and wife, Lona of Piggott; one brother-in-law, Wayne Collier of Piggott; one sister-in-law, Peggy Statler and husband, Bill, of Nimmons; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Morgan and wife, Donna, of Piggott and Bobby Morgan and wife, Juanita, of Memphis; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Bill Lovelace and Bill Moore officiating. Burial followed in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott.

Active pallbearers were Neil Morgan, Mike Morgan, Pat McCarron, Sean McCarron, Brian McCarron and Gregg Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Bud Taylor, Delbert Sample, Ed Wells, Kenny Collier, Mark Morgan, Blake Tanner, Shawn Parker, Bill Statler, Todd Watson, Michael Morgan, Kenneth Moore, Rodney Rouse, Jerry Sample, H.D. Sample, Carl Lewis, Chad Speer and Donald Woolf.

Rolie Venard Stow

Rolie Venard Stow, 64, of Piggott, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, in the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Aug. 11, 1940, in McDougal, the son of the late James Grandville and Nora Beatrice O'Guin Stow.

He was united in marriage to Barbara Johnson on April 30, 1998.

He worked in maintenance for Clay County and was the Chalk Bluff Park Supervisor. He was a Mason.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fairn Lynn Stow and James Weldon Stow; and two sisters, Deloris Irene Doss and Thelma Narene Buchanna.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stow of Piggott; one son, James Rolie Stow of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Dottie Jean Cook of Rolla, Mo.; three step-children, Linda Retkouski of St. Louis, Lisa Lynch of St. Louis and Chuck Lynch of Terri Haute, Ind.; five grandchildren, Jocoah, Elijah, Jackie, Stevie and Austin; four brothers, Darvin Stow of Piggott, Gary Stow of McDougal, Porter Stow of Poplar Bluff and Terry Stow of Corning; one sister, Gail Husketh of McDougal; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel. Burial followed in the Mars Hill Cemetery.

Henry F. "Buddy" Mann

Henry F. "Buddy" Mann, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 17, 1928, in Piggott, the son of the late Everett and Artie French Mann.

He was united in marriage to Katherine Fowler on April 7, 1951, in Piggott.

He was an Air Force veteran with 19 years service and a Navy veteran with two years service. He spent 20 years employed as a Metropolitan Insurance agent.

Mr. Mann attended Arkansas State University for two and a half years. He was a member of the VFW Post 3838. He was also a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Billie Bucy, Albertine Smith and Ella Mann.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Mann of Cape Girardeau; a son, Jack Mann and friend, Jane Bridges, of Fenton, Mo.; a daughter, Anna Powers and husband, Nick, of Tierra Verde, Fla.; three brothers, Bob Mann and wife, Sunny, of Fort Smith, Eugene Mann and wife, Jan Lea, of Piggott, and Adon Mann and wife, Ina Rae, of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Frankie Towne and husband, Jack, of Hot Springs Village and Jane Cote of Piggott; two grandchildren, Justin Mann of St. Louis and Sara Mann of St. Charles, Mo.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Short officiating.

Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid, Mo., with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.

John Donald Service

John Donald Service, age 2, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, in Piggott.

He was born Sept. 5, 2002, in Las Vegas, Nev., the son of Jeffory L. Service and Cheryl Lynne' Countryman.

He is survived by his mother and father, Jeffory L. Service and Cheryl Lynne' Countryman of Piggott; two sisters, Jennie Service of Piggott and Tara Brown of Xenia, Ill.; two brothers, Jeffory Service of Marseilles, Ill., and Adam Service of Batavia, Ill.; his grandparents, Don and Jean Beier of Stone Lake, Wisc., and Kermit and Anna Thorn of St. Charles, Ill.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with David Moody officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Pallbearers were Nathan Nottingham, Jeffory Service, Adam Service and Woodrow Franklin.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

James Doyne Parrish

James Doyne Parrish, 82, of Ava, Mo., died on Feb. 13, 2005.

He was born Nov. 27, 1922, in Pollard, the son of Marlie M. Parrish and Millie Frances Phillips Parrish.

He was united in marriage to Evelyn Pauline Alderson on July 3, 1955, in McDougal. They had two children.

Mr. Parrish was a resident of Ava since 1963, moving from St. Louis. He was a repairman for Rawlings Sporting Goods Company for 30 years. He also had worked as a school teacher in Arkansas.

He loved to fish and hunt. He adored his family and his grandson, Bradley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlie M. Parrish and Millie Frances Phillips Parrish; one brother, Merle Parrish; one sister, Georgie Grissom; his wife, Evelyn Pauline in 1989; and one grandson, Joseph Lane Walker.

Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Sharon Kay and Mark Wolfe of Ava, Mo.; one son, Ritchie Lynn Parrish of Ava; one grandson, Bradley Lane Walker of Ava; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in the Ava Cemetery with Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Burial followed in Ava Cemetery.
