Katie Millikin

Katie Millikin, 88, of Greenway died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.

She was born Sept. 13, 1917, in Blytheville, the daughter of the late James and Sarah Kathryn Quarles Price.

She was united in marriage to Laymon Lester "Buck" McMillon on Nov. 4, 1933. They had four sons.

Mrs. Millikin was a long-time member and pianist at the First Baptist Church in Greenway.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buck in 1991; one son, Jerry Millikin; two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by three sons, Jack Millikin of Paragould, Harold Millikin of Greenway and Jimmy Millikin of Marion; 10 grandchildren, Karen Millikin, Cheryl Fisher, Gary Millikin, Rhonda Henderson, Janet O'Connor, Judy Thomas, Mark Millikin, Bret Millikin, Jacob Millikin and Kevin Millikin; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Jimmy Millikin and Jackie Ray Cole officiating. Burial followed in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway. Pallbearers were Mark Millikin, Brett Millikin, Jacob Millikin, Kevin Millikin, Wade Thomas and Robert Fisher.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Louis Edmon Wood

Louis Edmon Wood, 66, of Pollard died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at his home.

He was born April 11, 1939, in Williamsville, Mo., the son of the late Clarence and Dessie (Boyer) Wood.

He was united in marriage to Margline Kemper Brown on Sept. 17, 1998.

He was a faithful member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Wood.

Survivors include his wife, Margline Wood of Pollard; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Walker and husband, Wade, of Northport, Ala.; two sons, Kenny Wood and wife, Audrey, of Cuba, Mo., and Kevin Wood and wife, Angie, of St. Clair, Mo.; one stepson, Eugene Brown and Cindy of Pollard; two sisters, Janey Young and husband, Loye, of Cedar Hill, Mo., and Judy Jones and husband, Floyd, of Poplar Bluff; five brothers, Albert Wood and wife, Marietta, of Campbell, Leon Wood and wife, Shirley, of Greenville, Mo., Vernon Wood and wife, Janey, of St. Louis, Ira Wood and wife, Juanita, of Piggott and Bobby Wood and wife, Yvonne, of Greenville, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn Wood, Lauren Walker, Madeline Walker, Jeania Brown and husband, Mark Morgan, Becky Bates and husband, Trent, Kristy Horner and husband, Jason, Brandi Scott, Melissa Brown and husband, Todd Latta, and Matthew Huffman; eight great-grandchildren, Blake Morgan, Jonathan Morgan, Cole Bates, Dee Horner, Weston Horner, Jacob Scott, Ryan Latta and Bryant Brown; several nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the Hope Center at New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard with Loy Culver officiating. Special music was performed by Winona Baker and Teresa and Dillon Elkins. Burial followed in the Toombs-Battles Cemetery near Pollard. Active pallbearers were members of Mr. Wood's Sunday school class. They included Nick Yount, Jonathan Hendley, Dillon Elkins, Mikey Huggins, Travis Vaughn, Zachary Hendley, Wayne Hendley and Tyler Pike. Honorary pallbearers included Jennifer Hendley, Terri Hendley and Heather O'Dell.

Hoggard and Sons FUneral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Hope Center.

Florence Ruthie Luff

Florence Ruthie Luff, 93, formerly of Pollard, died on March 9, 2006, at the Park Place Nursing Home in Lufkin, Texas.

She was born on April 30, 1912, to the late Levi and Minnie (Hall) Rodery.

She was married to Oscar Luff on March 13, 1937.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar "Bummie" Luff; one granddaughter, Shirley Duncan; three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Luff of Flint, Mich.; her daughter, Irene Duncan and husband, James, of Nogalus Prairie, Texas; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday (today), March 15, 2006, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Bro. Shelly Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery at St. Francis.

Grace Lee

Grace Lee, 98, of Clarkton died on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.

She was born July 11, 1907, in Clarkton, the daughter of George Washington Moore and Mary Susan O'Hara Moore.

She was united in marriage to Noah Huston Lee on Jan. 15, 1927, in Piggott. He preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1956.

She retired from the Clarkton School and was a member of the Clarkton United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Moore Green and Ruby Moore Bailey; and two brothers, Warren Moore and James Patterson Moore.

She is survived by one sister, Mary Hazel Moore Evans of Piggott; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2006, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with Rev. Susan Marner-Side officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott.

Landess Funeral Home of Campbell was in charge of the arrangements.

Regina Lynn Benson

Regina Lynn Benson, 47, of Holcomb died on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

She was born on Nov. 18, 1958, in Searcy, the daughter of Homer and Carolyn Harrison Elliott.

She was united in marriage to Randy Don Benson on June 30, 1995, in Piggott.

Mrs. Benson was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott. She was employed as the office supervisor for the University of Arkansas Extension Service in Piggott.

Survivors include her husband, Randy Don Benson of Holcomb; two daughters, Jennifer Nicole Ward and Michael of Friendship, Mo., and Jackie Lynn Taff and Josh of St. Louis; her parents, Homer and Carolyn Elliott of Searcy; one sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Jerald Parker of Kennett; and two grandchildren, Joslin Nicole Ward of Friendship, Mo., and Lucas Robert Taff of St. Louis.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott with Bro. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens in Kennett.

Bradshaw Funeral Homes Inc. of Kennett was in charge of the arrangements.

Danny Ray Dixon

Danny Ray Dixon, 54, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at his home in Riverside, Calif.

He was born April 10, 1951, at Camp Polk, La., the son of Vernon and Sadine Dixon.

He was a graduate of Piggott High School. He attended the University of Arkansas where he was a Razorback band member. Dixon joined the U.S. Air Force and received training to become an X-ray technician while in the service. After leaving the Air Force, he continued to work as an X-ray technician in the private sector in California.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Dixon on March 13, 1977.

He is survived by his mother, Sadine Dixon of Piggott; his wife, Poe Dixon of Riverside, Calif.; two brothers, Ronny Dixon and family of Piggott and John Dixon and family of Rogers.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 13, 2006, in Riverside, Calif, with interment in Rose Hill Memorial Park, which is located in the Puente Hills in the city of Whittier, Calif.

Agnes E. Atkison

Agnes E. Atkison, 90, of White Lake, Mich., died Monday, March 20, 2006.

She was the wife of the late Edward Atkison; mother of Peggy (William) Main and Judy (Don) Holland; grandmother of nine; great-grandmother of 24; great-great-grandmother of three. She was a dedicated member of the Oxbow Lake Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006, at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, located at 1233 Union Lake Road in White Lake. Interment will follow in the White Chapel Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday (today), March 22.

Charles Gallina

Charles Gallina, 94, of St. Louis died on Sunday, March 12, 2006, in St. Louis.

He was born Jan. 31, 1912, in Milwaukee, Wisc., the son of the late Gieuseppi and Susanna Lafatta Gallina.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Smith Gallina; one son, Raymond Gallina and wife, Sally; one daughter, Sanna Clark; three grandchildren, Cassandra Clark, Lisa Gallina and Christine Gallina; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at the Michell Cemetery in Greenway. Burial followed in the Mitchell Cemetery.

Joan Book

Joan Book, 74, of Piggott died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

She was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Piggott, the daughter of the late Druie Allen and Effie Scarbough Blair.

On Sept. 8, 1951, she married Dennis A. Book. They had two daughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis in 1994; one grandson, Zachary Adam Townsend; two brothers, Huston Blair and Elton Blair; and one sister, Betty Gordon.

She is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Einhorn and husband, Harold, of Laurel Springs, New Jersey, and Denise Lockard and husband, Shane, of Piggott; three grandchildren, Michaela, Autumn and Matthew; one brother, Curtis James Blair of Poplar Bluff; one special nephew, Elton Blair Jr.; three other nephews; one niece; two special friends, Dale and Sharon Pendergrast; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Mark Book officiating and special music by Randy Book. Burial followed in the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Active pallbearers were Harold Einhorn, Steve Graves, Shane Lockard, Clent Walker, Scott McCormick and Richard Durant. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Lockard, Jim Blair, Tim Blair, Tom Blair, Elton Blair and Sancy Skaggs.

Betty Sue Lawrence

Betty Sue Lawrence, 72, of Harviell, Mo., died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on Feb. 9, 1934, in Piggott, the daughter of the late James Willis Parker and Lora Mae Hinchcliff Parker.

She was united in marriage to Charles Wicks on Feb. 9, 1950. He preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1970. She was united in marriage to Everett Lawrence on July 1, 1967. He preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1998.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Adams of Parma, Mo., Diane Stevens of Malden, Gina Black of Manchester, Tenn., and Elaine Lawrence of Harviell, Mo.; one son, David Wicks of New Madrid, Mo.; five stepsons, Gary Lawrence of Dallas, Wayne Lawrence of Waynesboro, Tenn., Mike Lawrence of Piggott, Randy Lawrence of Midlothian, Texas, and Steve Lawrence of Castle Rock, Colo.; one sister, Barbara Hastings of Victorville, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2006, in the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with Rev. Frank Townsend officiating. Burial followed in Rosewood Cemetery in Malden.
