William Samuel Ross

William Samuel Ross, 24, of Poplar Bluff, died Sept. 4, 2006, in Piggott.

He was born Dec. 13, 1981 in Doniphan, Mo. and was the son of Richard Lee Ross and Mary Wilson Stone.

He is survived by his fiancée, Rachelle Wilkinson and son Logan of Poplar Bluff; his parents, Mary and Ronnie Stone of Piggott and Richard and Vicky Ross of Poplar Bluff; grandparents Rayburn and Dixie Ross of Kennett and Lula Mae Wilson of Lamesa, Texas; two brothers, Lee Ross of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Joshua Stone of Piggott, as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006 in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Bro. Lee Walton officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Pallbearers were Keith Thrasher, Brian Foens, Jason Mitchell, Jason Holder, Russell Ort and Josh Darnell. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

J.W. "Sonny" Grubbs

J. W. "Sonny" Grubbs, 68, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006 at his residence after a brief illness. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006 in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Monsignor Carson LaCaze. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood, LA.

Sonny was born June 7, 1938 in Boydsville, AR and a resident of Shreveport since 1955. He joined the U. S. Army 55th Artillery Battalion and in 1958 he married Shirley Ann Hill a native of Shreveport. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Mr. Grubbs was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Grubbs; and sister, Ruthie Grubbs. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley H. Grubbs; his mother, Essie Grubbs; one daughter, Rita Coleen Nelson and husband, Charles of Shreveport; one son, Gregory Steven Grubbs and wife, Sharon Yates of Haughton; three grandchildren, Cassie Amber Nelson-Parker and husband, Chris, III of Benton; Stephanie Danielle Grubbs and Samantha Kay Grubbs of Haughton; two sisters, Millie Tucker and Martha Tillman; four brothers, Harold Grubbs, C. W. Grubbs and wife, Judy, Herbert Grubbs and wife, Mary, and Jesse Grubbs and wife, Peggy; a number of great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be R. C. Green, Tommy Dupree, Roger Connell, Willie Joe Green, Donald Green and Jerry Temple. Honorary pallbearer will be Sammy Charicho.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Shreveport Police Department Mounted Patrol or the Christus Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center.

A.B. "Chuck" Pridmore

A.B. "Chuck" Pridmore, 75, died Aug. 27, 2006, at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas.

He was born Jan. 29, 1931, in Alabama and was the son of Wade and Florence Gibson Pridmore. He married Lottie Fay Book in Indiana in 1955. She survives. He was employed by Lance and served with the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict.

Others survivors include a son, Kenneth Ray Kitchen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Debra Darlene Albritton of Hull, Ga.; a son, Dennie Jeffrey Pridmore of Campbell; brothers Buddy Pridmore of Chicago, Kenneth Pridmore of Ripley, Tenn.; sisters, Ann Seratt, Sheila Bradford, both of Halls, Tenn., Dean Faulkner of Camden, Tenn., Bessie Hodge of Ripley, Tenn., Helen McCollum of Chicago; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Pridmore.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 1, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Brother B.J. Teer officiated. Burial was in the Brigham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Randell Book, Michael Baker, Kenneth Kitchen, Herb Turner, Steven Kitchen, Joe Keen, James Newman and Kenny Pridmore.

William Aaron Moseley

William Aaron Moseley, 70, of Rector, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at Kennett NHC.

Born July 10, 1936, in Rector to Merlie T. Gardner Moseley and the late F.B. Moseley, he was an auto mechanic. He was married Jan. 18, 2000, to Martha Haynes.

Survivors include his mother, Merlie Moseley of Piggott; his wife, Martha, of the home; two daughters, Elizabeth Sue Ashcraft of Bryant and Teresa Judd of Bryant; one step-son, Larry Small of San Diego, Calif.; two step-daughters, Sherry Trinidad of Jackson, Tenn., and Suzanne Foltz of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Bro. David Floyd officiating.

Charles T. Davidson

A life-time resident of Clay County, Charles T. Davidson, died at the age of 72 on Friday, Sept. 22, 2006 at his residence in Piggott.

He was born May 1, 1934 in Clay County to the late Roscoe and Minnie Lois (Gibson) Davidson. He worked as a carpenter in the Clay County area most of his life.

He is survived by other family members and many friends.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway.

Arrangements were provided by Irby Funeral Home in Piggott.

Linda Kay Katherine Parker Daniels

Linda Kay Katherine Parker Daniels, 55, of Russellville, died Thursday, Sept. 14, at her home.

A daughter of the late Victor Hulen and Nola Elizabeth Conley Parker, Daniels was born May 17, 1951 in Piggott. She was a realtor with Coldwell Banker Ken Stall and Associates, loved interior decorating and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Don Norris and Carol G. Garrison; and a sister, Georgia Darnell.

Survivors include her lifelong friend and companion, Carlous E. Gurthrie of Russellville; a son, Vick Allen Daniels of Fort Smith; two brothers, Paul Gene Garrison of Piggott and David Garrison of Corning; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Francis and Jess Henson of Plainview; a granddaughter who was the love of her life, Drew Riley Thomason Daniels of Tahlequah, Okla.; and several nephews and nieces.

The family will conduct a private graveside memorial service at a later date. Local arrangements were handled by Shinn Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to Pope County Health Department Hospice, 203 Weir Road, Russellville, Ark. 72802.

William Alan Blakemore Hays

William Alan Blakemore Hays, 20, of Campbell, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Campbell.

He was born Sept. 9, 1986, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Boyce Alan Hays and Diana Suzanne Blakemore.

He was a student at Three Rivers Community College and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden, Mo.

Preceding him in death were one brother, Adam Boyce Hays, and his grandparents, Paul and Joyce Hays.

Survivors include his mother, Diana Blakemore of Van Buren, Mo.; father and stepmother, Boyce and Becky Hays of Campbell; one sister, Taylor Patricia Hays of Campbell; two brothers, Carson Ryan Hays and Curtis Littrell of Campbell; grandparents, Joe and Frieda Blakemore of Holcomb, Mo.; great-grandmother, Emogene Hall of Campbell, and numerous aunts and uncles that loved him very much.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at First Baptist Church in Campbell with Rev. Randy Vaughn officiating. Burial was in Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton with Landess Funeral Home of Campbell in charge of arrangements.

Mabel Earlean Patterson

Mabel Earlean Patterson passed away at the age of 92, Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at the Murphy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Piggott. She was born on Dec. 13, 1913, the daughter of the late Shirley and Millie (Gage) Wilson.

Mrs. Patterson attended the First Methodist Church in Piggott until she was no longer able. She worked at the Brown Shoe Company in Piggott for many years.

She is survived by one son, Shirley Lee Wilson, and wife Doreen of Las Vegas, NV; two granddaughters, Tracy Winters and husband Randy and Susan Weilenmann and husband Kenny, all of Las Vegas; eight great grandchildren. She was Nanny Pat to self adopted granddaughter; and a special friend to Becky and Colton Dudley and Mike, Theresa, Addison and Savannah Book.

Services were held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at the Irby Funeral Home in Piggott with Brother Mike Book officiating. Visitation preceded the service with burial following.

Thomas Robert West

Thomas Robert West, 67, of Piggott died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, in the St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born Nov. 20, 1938 in Doniphan, Mo. to the late Luther and Rosie Belcher West.

He was united in marriage to Zettie Dean Reed on June 8, 1957 To this union two children were born.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Reynolds and Carolyn O'Neal; two brothers, Bill West and Jackie West.

Survivors include his wife, Zettie Dean West of Piggott; one son Thomas Robert West Jr. and Dona of Doniphan; one daughter, Betty Roberts and Tim of Piggott; six grandchildren, Nicole, Amanda, Tabitha, Heather, Cord and Cody; one great grandson, Alex; two sisters, Faye Beer of Rockford, Ill.; Mary Ann Wilson of Doniphan; one brother, Carl West of Piggott and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Wayne Bowman officiating. Burial will be in the Gravel Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were Russell Reynolds, Henry Reynolds, Steve Wilson, Jack West, Billy West and Dwayne Barker. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Charles Thomas Kemper

Charles Thomas Kemper, 76, of Piggott, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at Piggott Community Hospital.

He was united in marriage to Ida Imogene Aliston on July 10, 1979. He was a retired employee of the American Can Company in St. Louis. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and a member of the Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Era May "Crews" Kemper and two sisters, Delia Smith and Nadine Kemper.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Kemper of the home; three sons, Charles "Ed" and Bill Kemper of St. Louis and Steve Hooten of Piggott; one daughter, Sherry Nelson of St. Louis; three brothers, Walter, Wayne and Herbert Kemper; five sisters, Blanche Russell, Margline Wood, Maggie Parrish, Loel Collier and Mary Duplechin; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Sam Book officiating. Burial was in Gravel Cemetery at St. Francis. Irby Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were Jim Smith, Bob Venters, Jim Venters, Bill Kemper, Ed Kemper and Joe Steed.

Paul James "Jim" Cory

Paul James "Jim" Cory, 44, of O'Fallon, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at his home.

He was born April 15, 1962, in St. Louis and was the son of James Allen Cory and Stella L. Williams. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ben Williams and his stepfather, Robert Rockwell.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Walker Cory of O'Fallon; mother, Stella Rockwell of O'Fallon; father, James Allen Cory of Jackson, Mo.; grandmother, Inez Williams of St. Peters, Mo., three stepchildren, Michael, Daniel, and Heather Thompson, all of St. Louis; one granddaughter Mikaela, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at the Hoggard and Sons Chapel, with Bro. Kevin Murray officiating. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements.

Billie J. (Bess) Russell

Billie J. (Bess) Russell, 82, of Hardy passed away October 15, 2006, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. She was born in Piggott, the daughter of the late John. H. Bess, a veterinarian, and Sarah Ella (Long) Bess, a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Theron E. Russell, of Hardy, two daughters, Linda Kay Littlecalf of Flint, MI., and Deborah Ann Durfee of St. Charles, MO., four sons, Gary R. Howard, of Burton, MI., Theron E. Russell, II., of Bryon, MI., Lowell Kelly Russell of Glencoe, AR., and James M. Russell, of Mammoth Springs, AR., and two sisters, Lila Mae Bratcher of Concord, MI., and Wanlea Crank, of Davidson, MI., and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and on e son, Lloyd Nathan, who passed away at age 6, after a serious illness.

The funeral services were held Oct. 18, 2006, at Pioneer Freewill Baptist Church in Ash Flat, AR., with the Rev. Lawrence Dacus and the Rev. Hoyt Pope officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard.

Heath Funeral Home and Oak Hill Chapel were in charge of the arrangements in Hardy.

Memorials may be sent to Pioneer Freewill Baptist Church songbook fund in Ash Flat.

Myrl Rae O'Neal

Myrl Rae O'Neal, 73, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, in Kansas City, Mo.

Born Aug. 21, 1933, in Kennett, Myrl was a daughter of the late James A. and Effie L. Trobaugh Lynn. She lived in Wichita, Kans., from 1972 to 2003, where she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Wichita Vocational Technical School until 1981 and as a licensed real estate agent until the late 1980s.

She was married to Gene O'Neal of Piggott for 39 years until his death in 1995.

Devoted to her family, she inspired all with her smile, positive outlook, gentleness and strength.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Eileen O'Neal of Seattle, Wash., and Marc and Fun O'Neal of Wichita, daughter and son-in-law, Gina and David Kelly of Kansas City; brothers, Don Lynn and wife, Betty of Kennett, W.G. Lynn and wife, Theresa of Maumelle, Ark., Lacey Lynn and wife, Jerry, of Kennett, and Dennis Lynn and wife, Christy, of Senath, Mo., sister, Karen Williams and husband, Dennis, of Denair, Calif., grandchildren, Kelsea O'Neal, Sam O'Neal, and Brett Kelley. Other survivors include mother-in-law, Lillian O'Neal of Piggott, and sister-in-law, Theda Benson, and husband, Max of Titusville, Fla.

The funeral service was held at 1p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett.

Burial is in the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. (1-800-272-3900)
