Marjorie L. Ledbetter
Arkadelphia, Ark. - Marjorie L. Ledbetter, 76, of Arkadelphia died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1932, at Glenwood, the daughter of Henry Becker and Carrie Payte Becker. On Nov. 24, 1955, she was married to Jessie J. Ledbetter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Marsha Lynn Ledbetter; her grandson, baby Ledbetter; and her brother, Robert Becker.

She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Arkadelphia.

She is survived by her husband, Jessie J. Ledbetter of Arkadelphia; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Karla Ledbetter of Glenwood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Alvin Moss of Arkadelphia and Karen and Danny Gibson of Eunice, La.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Sue Doughty of Sunnyvale, Calif., Lisa Short of Glenwood, Nita Becker and Betty Becker, both of California; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Richard Price and Bro. Gary Taylor officiating.

Visitation will be held today from 5-7 p.m.

Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be Britain Ledbetter, David Culberson, Kevin Moss, Kelsey Moss, Joe Ledbetter, Justin Moss and Bro. Gary Taylor.

Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Lock.

T.J. McCarta
Bismarck, Ark. - T.J. “Mac” McCarta of Bismarck died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009. Mac was born April 17, 1935, in Natchitoches, La. to Robert and Leona (Paddy) McCarta. He was the owner/operator of T.J. McCarta Trucking, the founding father of Bismarck Volunteer Fire Department and was the fire chief of the Bismarck Volunteer Fire Department from its incepetion in 1977 until his retirement in 1990. He was also a 32nd degree Master Mason life member. Mac loved to dance and was a member of the Spa City Bop and Swing Dance Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert E. McCarta.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi (Huegel) McCarta of Bismarck; five sons, Greg Huegel and wife Jeannie of Hot Springs, Jeff McCarta and wife Sandra, Kelvin McCarta and wife Linda, Mark McCarta and wife Mary and Danny Jo McCarta all of Auburndale, Fla.; three daughters, Annette Grinnis and husband Richard of Hot Springs, Tammy Wheelis and husband Jerry of Winter Haven, Fla. and Donna Kassadakis of Lake Worth, Fla.; one sister Marcie Winstead of Texas; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Bray officiating. The family will be at 2810 Marion Anderson Road in Hot Springs.

Brenda Sue Fronte
Arkadelphia, Ark. - Brenda Sue Fronte, 65, of Arkadelphia died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs. She was born Oct. 20, 1943, in San Fernando Valley, California, the daughter of the late Bernard and Jessie Ellen Brewer Peck. She was a home health care provider, a protestant and the widow of Jack Cowan Fronte.

Survivors are one son, Chris Fronte of Arkadelphia; two daughters: Dayna Neiman and Desha Fronte both of Arkadelphia; stepfather, Fred Thorpe of Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers: Mark Peck of California, Freddie Thorpe of Tulsa, Okla., and Danny Thorpe of Ore., and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia, with the Rev. George Vincent officiating. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army’s Toys for Tots program. Visit www.welchfh.net to sign guest book and view video tribute.

Valeri L. Jackson
Bismarck, Ark. - Valeri L. Jackson, 46, of Bismarck went to be with her heavenly father Sunday, Jan.18, 2009. She was born Sept. 2, 1962 to Walter Harold Jackson and the late Patricia Dannell (Cullen) Jackson in Champaign. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hot Springs.

Valeri was preceded in death by her mother Patricia D. Jackson.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Pete and Pat Jackson of Bismarck; sister, Vicki Brown and husband Mark of Champaign; sister, Kristi Herring and husband Scott of Flower Mound, Texas; step-sister, Lindley Ralph and husband Michael of Columbus, OH.; two nieces and one nephew.

There are no services at this time.

Herbert L. Elmore
Arkadelphia, Ark. - Herbert L. Elmore, 83, of Arkadelphia, formerly of Hot Springs, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 in Arkadelphia. He was born Oct. 17, 1925 in Prescott, to Levi Jefferson and Etta Andrews Elmore. He was retired military, serving 24 years. Service included Asian Pacific, Germany, Korea, Japan and Vietnam.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, June Ellen and Robert Anthony of Arkadelphia and Margaret Annette Johns of Hot Springs; two sisters, Marie McNeely of Arkadelphia and Jeanie Kinsey of Hudson, Ken.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, 11 a.m., at Memorial Gardens with Reverend Greg Latham officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Third Street Baptist Church, 3rd and Crawford, Arkadelphia, AR 71923 or the Clark County Humane Society in Arkadelphia.

Gross Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Infant Hunter Dale Lunsford
Gurdon, Ark. - Infant baby Hunter Dale Lunsford, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008 in Little Rock. He was born Oct. 10, 2008 in Little Rock, and was the son of Robbie Dale Lunsford and Stephanie Bell.

Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Doyle Bell of Okolona, Michele Burns of Gurdon, Dale Lunsford of Caney and Lynn Lunsford of Hot Springs; great-grandmothers, Charlene Lunsford, Faye Cooper and Sue Clayton.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at 2 p.m. in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Donaldson.

Service arrangements by Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon.

Majorie Sandifer Corley
Arkadelphia, Ark. - Majorie Sandifer Corley, 83, of Arkadelphia, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at her home. She was born Jan. 31, 1925 in New Orleans,, the daughter of Ben and Emily Strickland Sandifer. She was a member of the worship committee of the First Presbyterian Church, the Colerean Club, a master crafter, and a 1946 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lovelace.

Survivors are her husband, Dr. Don Corley; two daughters: Cindy Viala of Rogers and Betty Corley of Conway; one brother, Ken Sandifer of Arkadelphia; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan.13, 2009, at 10 a.m. in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kendal Land officiating. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Arkadelphia. There will be no formal visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Presbyterian Church, 1220 Pine St., Arkadelphia, AR 71923.

Mattie Stephens
ARKADELPHIA - Mattie Stephens, 96, of Arkadelphia died April 18, 2006, in Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Jan. 5, 1910, in the Kansas community, the daughter of the late Theodore and Bertha Ellis. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church at Gurdon.

Survivors include: One son, Willard Stephens of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Rudell Ellis of Arkadelphia; two sisters, Ruby Westfield of Los Angeles, Calif., and Jessie Mae Wilson of San Francisco, Calif.; and nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Johnnie Harris officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Chad D. Wade
Arkadelphia, Ark. - ARKADELPHIA — Chad D. Wade, 38, of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday Nov. 5, 2008 as a result of injuries from a motorcycle accident in Saline County. He was born Feb. 10, 1970, the son the Wendell and Paula Nicks Wade. He was member of the Booze Fighter Motorcycle Club Chapter 67, and a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Arkadelphia.

Survivors include two sons, Keith Wade of Arkadelphia and Clint Wade of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Britni Bunnell; parents, Wendell and Paula Wade; one sister, Wendy Howard, all of Arkadelphia, and a very special friend, Stephanie Todd.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. in Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jerry Melton officiating. Burial in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Darius Martin
Prescott, Ark. — Darius Martin, the infant son of Marcus and Shanika Gentry Martin of Delight, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, in Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia.

He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Marquies Martin and Marcus Martin Jr.; one sister, Mariah Martin; his grandparents, Kenny and Sharon Weston of Hope, Irmon and Ira Gentry of Locksburg, and Rickey and Mary Penny of Delight; and his great-grandparents, Minnie Furlow and Roberta Gentry of Delight, and Corina Weston of Hope.

A service of remembrance will be held for Darius on Wednesday, July 27, at 11 a.m. in Harrison Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Rufus R. Hatley and the Rev. Corey Weston officiating.

The committal service and final resting place will be in Harrison Chapel Cemetery.

Mack "Rainmaker" Hall
Arkadelphia, Ark. — Mack “Rainmaker” Hall, 78, of Arkadelphia, died Monday, June 27, 2011.

He was born March 27, 1933, to Mann and Ada Gibson Simpson, in Sparkman. He was a Baptist and attended Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He worked as an independent logger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Pearl Hall-Walker.

Mack’s gentle spirit will be missed by his nine children, Max Hall Jr., of Princeton, Maxine Hall-Frazier, Veverly Hall-Grant, Josette Hall-Butler and Michael Hall, all of Camden; Diane Hall-Johnson of New Orleans, Fredrick Hall of Hope, Evonne Hall of Hot Springs, and Lavonne Hall of Fordyce; one brother, Roy Simpson of Flint, Mich.; and 24 grandchildren.

A memorial service honoring Mack’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 8, at Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd Jr. is the pastor and will render words of comfort.

Erma Campbell
Prescott, Ark. — Erma Lou Campbell Hignight of Fort Smith, moved into a new life in heaven on Sunday, July 3, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Vollie and Charlie Campbell and was born on October 18, 1933, in Prescott, AR. Erma “Higgie” as she was known to her colleagues, went to nursing school when she was in her late thirties and had a successful career as an LPN at Sparks Medical Center. She played the piano and organ at church and entertained her family and residents at the nursing home with her playing. She was loved by all and had a servant’s heart that would be second to none. Whenever there was a potluck or any occasion to carry food, she outdid herself with making lots of dishes to share. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Fort Smith and up until she had to move to Methodist Health and Rehab, was the pianist there. She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmie of Fort Smith; daughter Amanda Rogers and husband Ronnie of Appomattox, VA; son Randy and wife Robin of Rogers, AR; granddaughters Amber Denney and husband Clayton of Fort Smith; Natalie Shelnut and husband Jason of Vernon, AL; grandson Grant Hignight of Rogers, AR. and great granddaughter Madison Shelnut of Vernon, AL. She is also survived by brothers Edmond and Wayne Campbell and sisters Betty Honey, Caroline Sanford and Jo Ann Sneed and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff of Methodist Health & Rehab for the care given to her for the past 6 years. A special thanks to Rev. JM Rogers, chaplain, for his spiritual care to Erma and Jimmie during this time. Memorials may be sent to Gideon’s International 1065 N. Wedington Blacktop Rd. Prairie Grove, AR. 72753. Wanda Reibenstein
Prescott, Ark. — Graveside services for Wanda Sue Reibenstein, 80, of Canton, Texas, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Hopper Cemetery in Glenwood. Services are under direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas.

Wanda Sue Horne was born Jan. 17, 1931, in Arkadelphia, to the late Archie Horne and Lucille Duke Horne. Wanda raised her family in the Houston area and moved to Glenwood, approximately 15 years ago to make her home. She was a wonderful cook and a member of Glenwood Jehovah Witness. Wanda moved to Canton in 2006 to live closer to her family.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Reibenstein.

She is survived by her daughters, Venita Roberts of Kountz, Texas, and Tammy Reibenstein and husband Howard McArdle of Canton; sister, Martha Ann Robertson and husband Roy of Arkadelphia; one niece; three nephews; and many friends.

Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
