‘Zeek’ Davidson
Doyle “Zeek” Davidson, age 69, of Plumerville died Monday, March 24, 2003.

He was born August 28, 1933, in Springfield, Arkansas, a son of the late James Cicero Davidson and Mable Clara Morgan Davidson. Mr. Davidson was an Army Korean War veteran, retired truck driver, and member and deacon of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Dicus Davidson; daughters and sons-in law, Deborah Faye and Dwayne Ward of Jacksonville, and Doylene “Dee Dee” and Greg Mayall of Jackson, Tennessee; brothers, Bill Davidson of the Hill Creek community; Aubrey Davidson of North Little Rock, and Jimmy H. Davidson of Plumerville; sisters, Barbara Davidson of Plumerville, and Peggy Smith of the Hill Creek community; grandchildren, Travis Ward and wife, Christy, April Ward, Bret Mayall, Cherie Mayall, and Trisha Mayall; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Logan Ward.

He was preceded in death by one brother, J.E. “Jack” Davidson.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Cantrell and Bro. Charles McKamy officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers will be Bill Lefler, Farrell Russell, Asbury Walker, Wayne Smith, Johnny Trafford, and Bradley Dunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Russell, Mike Cantrell, Wayne Smith, Farrell Russell, Randy Dunlap, Hobert Conley, Bill Lefler, Charles Townsley, Jimmy Davidson, and P.E. Riddle.

‘Wood’ Surratt Sr.
Woodrow “Uncle Wood” Surratt Sr., 81, of Porter, Okla., died March 12, 2003.

He was born April 4, 1921, in Pottsville, a son of Arthur and Beller (Holland) Surratt, the ninth of 12 children. He was a farmer, construction worker and mail carrier.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Surratt; two sons, Woodrow Surratt Jr., of Tulsa, and Herman Surratt of Porter, Okla.; two daughters, Betty Surratt of Los Angeles, and Shirley Carter of Tulsa; one stepdaughter, Mae Frances Bass of Los Angeles; two brothers, Dee Surratt of Muskogee, Okla., and A.C. Surratt Sr. of Porter, Okla.; one sister, Eleathia Tucker of Detroit; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two children, Charles Surratt and Lois Jean Surratt, two stepchildren, Otis Booker and Johnnie Booker; his brothers, P.M. Surratt, Lonnie Surratt and F.T. Surratt; and three sisters, Inola Surratt Taylor, Gearsenia Surratt Nixon and Iola Surratt Curry.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Rayfield Baptist Church in Muskogee, Okla., by the Rev. Leroy Walker Sr. Burial was at Lincoln Cemetery in Porter by Keith D. Bigelow Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers were Paul Bryan Surratt Sr., Mario Surratt, Sheldon Jay Surratt, Christopher R. Surratt, and Elliott Surratt. Honorary pallbearers were Dee Surratt, Thamous Surratt, Lemuel Taylor Jr., A.C. Surratt Sr., A.C. Surratt Jr., and Woodrow Surratt.

‘Lulu’ Marks-Bunting
Nancy Lucille “Lulu” Marks-Bunting, 71, of Conway, died Saturday, March 15, 2003.

She was born April 24, 1931, in Little Rock, a daughter of John and Cora Marks. She was head cook at Shah’s Restaurant in Russellville. She was a member of Sinai Church of God in Christ where she served as evangelist missionary and hospitality president. She was the widower of C.L. Bunting.

Survivors include one brother, George Green of Oaklawn, Calif.; five grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Sinai Church of God in Christ by Elder S.D. Mitchell. Burial was at Rest Haven Cemetery in Russellville by Wilson and Jarrett Funeral Home Inc.

Pallbearers were Robert Virgil, Robert Virgil Jr., Rufus Virgil Jr., Dexter Williams, Samuel Bunting, Mike Bunting, Theodore Bunting, and Gary Benson.

Charlene Rackley
Charlene C. Rackley, 69, of Houston died Thursday, July 31, 2003.

She was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Houston, a daughter of Charlie B. Rankin and Ruby C. Freeman Rankin. She was a member of Stony Point Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, James Carl Rackley of Hector, David Lee Rackley of Appleton, Charles Wayne Rackley of Oppelo, and Ricky Lee Rackley of Houston; two daughters, Louise Clayton of Hector and Dixie Rackley of Houston; two brothers, Earnest Charles Rankin of Clinton and Eddie Melton of Houston; one sister, Jean Caldwell of Lonoke; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six-stepgrandchildren, and six great-stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Bliss Turnage
Bliss Nicole Turnage, infant daughter of Jeff and Katie Butler Turnage of Conway, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003.

Other than her parents include one brother, Nicholas Turnage of the home; maternal grandparents, Vickie and Mike Butler of Conway; paternal grandparents, Evert and Joyce Turnage of Hattieville; maternal great-grandparents, Frankie and Geneva Bowlin of Conway and Kathryn Butler of North Little Rock; paternal great-grandparents, Roy and Pearl Carmack of Springfield, Ore.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday at Roller-McNutt Chapel in Conway with the Rev. David Hatfield officiating. Interment was in Crestlawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Butler and Evert Turnage Jr.

Sister Frances
Sister Frances Hacker, 91, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, in St. Scholastica Monastery.

She was a nurse and made her religious profession Aug. 26, 1928.

There were no immediate survivors.

Vespers were Friday, 7:15 p.m. at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel. Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. at the chapel Saturday. Burial was at St. Scholastica Cemetery in Fort Smith by Putman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were nephews, nieces, and Benedictine Sisters.

Memorials may be made to St. Scholastica Continuing Care Fund, P.O. Box 3289, Fort Smith, AR 72913.

Lisa Reed
Lisa Ann Henderson Reed, 31, of Conway died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003.

She was born Nov. 6, 1971, at Springdale, to Dennis Ray Henderson and Sandra Kay Rogers Magness. She was employed by the Heritage Co. Inc., in Conway and was a member of the Hatley Missionary Baptist Church at Dover.

Survivors include her dad and mom, Dennis and Shirley Henderson of Dover, her mother and stepfather, Sandy and Joe Magness of Springdale; one brother, Jason Eubanks of Perry; two sisters, Gini Harelson of Russellville and Jo Quinn of Perryville; and paternal grandfather, Don Billings of Springdale.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hatley Missionary Baptist Church at Dover officiated by Bro. Lester Barnes. Burial was in the McFadden Cemetery at Dover under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were Kevin Lovell, Dave McCollum, Josh Marshall, Josh Furneoux, Blake Ferris, and Pete Harris. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Eubanks, Chris Byrd, Ricky Stewart, Paul Bowlin, Jim Harelson, and Aaron Kettner.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Faulkner County; P.O. Box 1055; Conway, AR 72033.

Floy Dean Bostian
Floy Dean Bostian, 84, of Morrilton, Arkansas died Thursday, July 31, 2003.

She was born August 25, 1918, in Formosa, Arkansas, a daughter of Henry Jones and Ida Treadway Jones. Mrs. Bostian was the widow of Ira “Red” Bostian, she was retired from the South Conway County School District, and was a member of the Westside Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Bostian of Gary, Indiana and Ricky Bostian of Morrilton; one daughter, Peggy Greer of Gary Indiana; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were 4 p.m. Saturday, August 2, at the Harris Chapel with Mr. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial was at Hunter Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers were Damion Bostian, Bud Stracner, Charles Foster, John Payne, Steve Crow, and Rocky Gibby. Honorary pallbearers were Steve and Jason Stevens.

Geneva Coffman
Geneva Goates Coffman, 91, of Morrilton died Friday, August 1, 2003.

She was the widow of Loyd Coffman. She was born May 20, 1912, in Alread, Arkansas, a daughter of John Buchanan Goates and Estella Jones Goates. Mrs. Coffman was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for 53 years, and retired from Levi Strauss; she was later self-employed.

She is survived by one son, Darrel Coffman of Morrilton; a daughter, Ruth Deaton of Little Rock; one sister, Etta Koone of Conway; four grandchildren, Debra Trafford Johnson of Little Rock, Beth Trafford of North Little Rock, Kristie Coffman of Russellville, and Doug Coffman of Morrilton; five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, August 4, at the Harris Chapel with Bro. James Mullins officiating. Burial was at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers were Ron Goates, Gary Goates, Dale Goates, Steve Trafford, Mike Joslin, and Roger Gardner.

Lena Horton
Lena Gordon Horton, age 97, of Plumerville died Friday, August 1, 2003.

She was born June 19, 1906, in Solgohachia, Arkansas, a daughter of Paul Gordon and Cora Belle Atkinson Gordon. Mrs. Horton was the widow of Neil Hobbs Horton, a retired store owner, and member of Plumerville Methodist Church.

Survivors include her nephew and his wife John and Shiela Gordon of Solgohachia, and a niece Susan Gordon of Conway.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. (today) Wednesday, August 6, at Plumerville Methodist Church with the Rev. Von Dell Mooney officiating.

Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Nelma Watson
Nelma Sue Watson, 33, of Conway died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003.

She was born Sept. 23, 1969, in Conway to Jane Ford Banister and the late Howard Banister. She was a nurse.

Other than her mother, survivors include her husband, Daniel Watson; one sister, Lynette Ritter of Bigelow; and three half-brothers, David Banister of Blevins, Roy Banister of Blevins, and Ben Ford of Conway.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Copperas Springs Cemetery in Guy. Arrangements are by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.

Vida Seale
Vida Lavada Trigg Seale, 86, of Dover died Thursday, July 31, 2003.

She was born Dec. 16, 1916, in Atkins, a daughter of Will and Minnie Clemons Johnston. She was a Free Will Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Trigg of Hattieville and Duane Trigg of Jerusalem; one daughter, Peggy Walters of Dover; two brothers, Ira O. Johnston and Alpha Johnston, both of Atkins; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday at Lemley Funeral Chapel by the Revs. Geno Johnston and Jerry Tanner. Burial was at St. Joe Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service.

Her grandchildren served as pallbearers.

‘Gordie’ Simpson
Gordon James “Gordie” Simpson, 52, of Mabelvale stepped over into Heaven, Friday, Aug. 1, 2003.

Gordie was a nature lover who enjoyed the outdoors. A little league coach, he also enjoyed sports. A very religious man, Gordie had a very strong faith.

Survivors include father, Gordon Simpson and wife Josie; mother, Samantha Reive and husband Brian; sisters, Debbie Lee Simpson, Marti Wilson and husband Rick, Cathy Casteneda; devoted grandmother, Edna Staples; aunts, Ramona Field, Martha Crossley; special friends Regina and Brian Brooks; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Barbara and Ernie Vandever, and paternal grandfather, James Staples.

A celebration of Gordie’s life was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett-Forest Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Rainwater officiating. Burial was at May Cemetery in Houston with Bob Gipson officiating.

Due to Gordie’s love of Arkansas and nature, the family is asking in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Partners for Pinnacle Mountain, 11901 Pinnacle Valley Road, Roland, AR 72135.

Braxton Lee and Tristan Grace Winborn
Braxton Lee Winborn, our precious baby boy went to be with the Lord, July 30, 2003 and Tristan Grace Winborn, our precious baby girl went to be with the Lord, August 4, 2003.

The services will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2003 at First Baptist Church of Alma with burial at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren, Ark.

Braxton and Tristan are survived by their parents, Dr. Paul and Tiffany Winborn of Alma, Ark.; paternal grandparents, Paul and Peggy Winborn of Alma, Ark.; paternal great-grandmother, Irma Brewer of Alma, Ark.; maternal grandparents, Dr. Tommy and Sue Brown of Perryville, Ark; one uncle, Dustin Brown of Perryville, Ark.; maternal great-grandparents, C.W. and Bobbie Dean Brown and maternal great-grandfather, Floyd Gardner, all of Perryville, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Brown, Dr. Jay Stringfellow, Lance King, and Stanley Key. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
