Charlie Kennedy

Charlie “Buster” Kennedy, age 88, of Houston, Arkansas, died June 6, 2004.

He was born June 23, 1915, in Houston, Arkansas, a son of Charles Andrew Kennedy and Alma Sandlin Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department, a farmer, and past member of the CCC Camp. He was also a deck hand for the Toad Suck Ferry and of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Donnie Faye Stane Kennedy of Hou-ston; son, Kenneth Kennedy and wife, Barbara, of Houston; daughters, Rada Day and husband, Jim, of Houston, Lavon Dunn and husband, Larry, of Conway, Ilene Gunther and husband, Bobby, of Bigelow; six grandsons, three granddaughters, two stepgranddaughters, and nine great-grandchilden. preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters, son, Charles Wayne Kennedy, and daughter, Alma Charlene Kennedy.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Harris Chapel with Bro. Leon Stane, Bro. Sonny Davis, and Father Richard Davis officiating. Burial will be at Edlin Cemetery in the Stony Point Community by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Morrilton.

Pallbearers will be Joey Gunther, Scott Gunther, Daniel Gunther, Nick Gunther, Craig Graham, and Steven Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kent Klosky, Tommy Freeman, Raymond Gunther, Lee Nutt, Bill Doughty, Audrey Atkinson, Norman Rice, and Fred Freeman.

Dwight Lindsey

Dwight Leland Lindsey, 69, of Solgohachia died Sunday, June 6, 2004.

He was born March 19, 1935, in Morrilton, a son of Walter Jackson Lindsey and Frances Naomie Tilley Lindsey. Mr. Lindsey was a Wonderview High School graduate, an Army veteran, a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a retired paper mill supervisor.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Cleo (Bridgman) Lindsey; two daughters, Patricia Wright of Wickliffe, Ky. and Debra Stacy of Solgohachia; two sons, Mark Lindsey of Morrilton and Walter Lindsey of Perry; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Harris Chapel with the Rev. Redman Eubanks and the Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight (Wednesday).

Pallbearers will be Sammy Gibby, John Gibby, John Bridgeman, Harold Bridgeman, Sturl Bridgeman, Jimmy Bridgeman, and Ed Stout.

Jack Nevills

Jack Wayne Nevills, 71, of North Little Rock died Tuesday, June 1, 2004.

He was born March 29, 1933, in Perryville, to Claude and Purrie Campbell Nevills. Mr. Nevills was a longtime salesman and district manager of Owens Country Sausage.

Survivors include his son, Claude Morris Nevills, of North Little Rock; three daughters, Kathy Sue Nevills, of Laverne, Calif., Jan Waynette Stout of Las Cruces, N.M., and Lonna Earlene Nevills, of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside service were 2 p.m. Friday at Perryville Cemetery in Perry County. Arrangements were by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Cleo Washington

Cleo Washington, 86, of Clinton died Tuesday, June 8, 2004.

She was born Aug. 25, 1917, in Clinton, a daughter of Clarence and Elmira Martin. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and the widow of Albert Washington.

Survivors include three sons, Johnny Washington and James Washington, both of Clinton, and Willie Washington of Kansas City, Kan.; one daughter, Katherine Smith of Little Rock; one brother, Jethro Martin of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Joy Lee Martin of Clinton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Mountain View Baptist Church, Clinton by the Rev. Luke Hawkins. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery by Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, Conway.

Family visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Rachel Wieland

Rachael Adams Wieland, age 87, of Solgohachia, Arkansas, died Sunday, June 6, 2004.

She was born October 7, 1916, in Solgohachia, Arkansas, a daughter of Benjamin Harrison Adams and Avoline Loyd Adams. Mrs. Wieland was the widow of Irvin David Wieland, a seamstress and member of Lone Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Wieland of Solgohachia and niece, Coralie Hawkins of Little Rock.

Funeral services were 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, at Lone Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Charlie Johnson officiating. Burial was at Lone Grove Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers were Dwight Mullins, Jerry Golden, David Stancliff, Jim Hutchison, Mark Brice, and Jerry Brice. Honorary pallbearers were Floy Evans and Glen Sledge.

Sandra Cook

Sandra Poteete Cook, age 47, of Morrilton, Arkansas, died Thursday, June 10, 2004.

She was born September 13, 1956 in Morrilton, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Cecil Carl Poteete and Willie Mae Huett Poteete. Ms. Cook was a housekeeping supervisor and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Hull and husband, David, of Hattieville; grandson John Hartsell and granddaughter Brooklyn Hull, both of Hattieville; brothers, Kenneth Mahan of Morrilton, Cecil Ray Poteete of Center Ridge, Carl Poteete of Overcup, David Poteete of Russellville, Ben Poteete and Eddie Joe Poteete, both of Morrilton; sisters, Frankie Skinner and Betty Trevino, both of Overcup, and preceded in death by brother, Charlie Poteete.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, June 14, at Harris Chapel with Bro. Leon Hill and Bro. Gary Huett officiating. Burial was at Campground Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers were Kenneth Mahan, Cecil Ray Poteete, Carl Poteete, David Poteete, Ben Poteete, and Eddie Joe Poteete. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Skinner and Vic Trevino.

Gerald Fagan

Gerald Burton Fagan, 85, of Morrilton died Tuesday, June 15, 2004.

He was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Richton, Miss. He was a World War II Navy veteran, and later a retired radio operator for the U.S. Navy, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, June Robison Fagan; one son, Brent Fagan of Batesville, Ind.; two daughters, Carole Berry of New York and Virginia Lawson of New Jersey; four stepsons, Steve Smith of Little Rock, Roger Smith of Cabot, William Smith of Pine Bluff, and Don Smith of Chula Vista, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Debra Baugh of Sherwood and Diane Cesmat of Boulder, Colo.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery in North Little Rock. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Gary Golden

Gary Golden of Aplin, died June 12, 2004.

Born January 10, 1948, in Little Rock, an Air Force Vietnam veteran, he was a retired equipment supervisor for Arkansas Highway Transportation Department.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Jones Golden; son, Kevin Golden of Sherwood; daughters, Hannah Golden and Shana Purchase, of Aplin; father and mother, Hoyt and Carlene Golden of Little Rock; brother, Larry Golden of Little Rock, and sister, Caron Nanney of Florida.

Mr. Golden was a beloved husband, father, son, and brother, and loved by all who knew him.

Funeral was 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Harris Chapel. Burial will be at Smyers Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Golden’s death was after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Memorials may be made for Stem Cell Research. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Eutana Kerwood

Eutana L. Kerwood, 78, of Houston died Saturday, June 12, 2004.

She was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Shawnee, Okla., a daughter of Ben Simpson and Eva Harrison Simpson. Mrs. Kerwood was a cosmetologist and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Erwin Kerwood of Houston and Leon Kerwood of New Harmony, Utah; one brother, Carl Simpson of St. Peters, Mo.; one sister, June Hanold of Brighton, Ill.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Jay Knight Sr.

Jay Knight Sr., 74, of Dennard died Saturday, June 12, 2004.

He was born Sept. 19, 1929, at Dennard, the son of Johnny Knight. He was a disabled Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie J. Mahan Knight; mother, Millie Waasdrop of Dennard; son, Jay Knight Jr., of Dennard; two stepdaughters, Pam Davis of Dennard, and Teresa Smith of Morrilton; one brother, Gene Knight of Vilonia; three sisters, Dara Lou Burnett of Wheatly, Calif., Gerry Caldwell of Arnold, Calif., and Gustova Wozniak of Dennard; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Roller McNutt Chapel in Clinton by Ester Bass. Interment was at Dennard Cemetery by Roller McNutt of Clinton.

Pallbearers were Leon Wilson, Larry Adams, Max Young, Doug Harper, Tom Johnson and Red Wolf.

Dwight McCabe

Dwight A. McCabe, 59, of Vilonia died Sunday, June 6, 2004.
He was born Nov. 9, 1944, in Adona to Lester and Bertie (Ott) McCabe.
Survivors include one brother, Roy McCabe of Allagon, Mich.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, with Bro. Teddy Frye officiating. Burial was in Petit Jean Mountain Cemetery in Adona.

Louis Vernon McNew

Louis Vernon McNew, 69, of Cleveland area died Tuesday, June 8, 2004.

He was born to Thomas “Buster” McNew and Alphie (Jones) McNew in Cleveland on Aug. 23, 1934. He was of the Baptist faith and a cattle farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel McNew; two sons, Vernon McNew and Louis S. McNew, both of Cleveland; one daughter, Ann McNew of Cleveland; three brothers, Tom McNew of Cleveland, James McNew of Forrest City, and Ed McNew of Greenbrier; two sisters, Lola Gibbens of Mapleton, Ore., and Junun LaDuke of Casper, Ore.; and one granddaughter.

Graveside service was 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Lost Corner Cemetery near Cleveland with Scotty Karver officiating. Services and arrangements by Bob Neal and Sons of Morrilton.

Joe Willie Moore

Joe Willie Moore, 65, of Oceanside, Calif., formerly of Springfield, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004.

She was born Aug. 8, 1938, a daughter of Jessie Virgil and Tollie McVay Sr. She was the widow of J.T. Moore and a member of the Friendly Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include five daughters, Annie Ealy and Rebecca Ealy, both of Damascus, Deloise Moore of Stone Mountain, Ga., Carolyn Moore of Morrilton, and Theodora Moore of Oceanside, Calif.; two sons, Thomas McVay of Morrilton and Tarsus Moore of Dallas; two stepdaughters, Faye Ola Moore of Flint, Mich., and Hattie Rice of Menifee; one brother, Tollie McVay Jr. of Springfield; 24 grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield by the Rev. A.W. Bowie. Burial was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery by Wilson and Jarrett Funeral Home Inc.

Pallbearers will be Louria Harris, Stanley McVay, Velma Harris, Wilbur Moore, William Gray, and John Phelps.

Linda U. Nash

Linda U. Nash, 58, of Mabelvale died Friday, June 11, 2004.
She was born at Bigelow July 1, 1945, to Lem and Floy (Stain) Webb. She was employed by Baptist Hospital for 15 years as a phlebotomist.
Survivors include her husband, Rick Nash; two daughters, Belinda Foley of Mabelvale and Laura Gage of Texas; a son, Ryan Nash of Little Rock; three sisters, Christine Bottoms of Danville, Mary Adams of DeWitt, and Judy Carlin of Hot Springs; six brothers, Billy Webb and Frankie Webb of DeWitt, Wesley Webb, Leroy Webb and Larry Webb of Hot Springs, and Tommy Webb of Mabelvale; and five grandchildren.
The funeral service was 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roller-Drummond Southwest Chapel. Graveside service was 1:30 p.m. at Walnut Lake Cemetery at Dumas.

Ruby Nickles

Ruby Rebecca (Moise) Nickles, 89, of Morrilton, Arkansas, died June 12, 2004.

She was born in Forest City, Arkansas, on November 4, 1914, a daughter of the late Milton and Em-ma Nichols Moise. Mrs. Nickles was the widow of Jessie T. Nickles, retired from Arkansas Crompton Mills, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Morrilton.

Survivors include four daughters, Billie Earnhart of Overcup; Mildred Denham of Kansas City, Kansas, Rebecca Bartos of Conway and Tina Adams of Benton; sister, Bernie McCellan of Florida; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie T. Nickles; son, Johnny Pryor Nickles; daughter, Shirley Bernice Nickles; brother, Floyd Moise, and sister, Mildred Hensley.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Harris Chapel with Bro. Charles King officiating. Burial was at Elmwood Cem-etery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers were Buddy Denham, Tom Denham, Don Denham, Steve Earnhart, Michael Adams, Travis Adams, and Jim Earnhart.

Roy Owens

Roy Glen Owens, 43, of Morrilton died Wednesday, June 9, 2004.

He was born to David Carl Owens and Lin-da Ann (Stroud) Owens of Morrilton on May 15, 1961. He was a member of the Forgiven Hunting Club.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Owens; one son, Shawn Michael Owens of Morrilton; one daughter: Amanda Michelle Owens of Morrilton; two brothers, Bobby Owens and Jimmy Owens, both of Morrilton; one sister, Patricia A. Owens Cox of Fort Smith. Memorial services were 2 p.m., Friday, at Bob Neal & Sons Chapel.

Mitchell Power

Mitchell Power, 75, of Plumerville died Thursday, June 10, 2004.

He was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Plumerville, a son of Roger and Corina (Reece) Power. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a carpenter.

Survivors include three brothers, Robert Power and Berve Power, both of Chicago, and Andrew Power of North Little Rock; seven sisters, Naomi Williams of Detroit, Vaness Dale and Adner Hervey, both of Omaha, Nebr., Geneva Power of Chicago, Eulila Ampson of Little Rock, Maggie Powell of Kansas City, Mo., and Erma Williams of Germantown, Tenn.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church by the Rev. David Cox. Burial will be in Owens Cemetery by Larry C. Acklin Funeral Home, Morrlton.

Visitation is Friday, 2-6 p.m., at the funeral home in Morrilton.

Zilmer Ring

Zilmer A. Ring, 86, of Heber Springs died Saturday, June 12, 2004.
Born Sept. 10, 1917, in Cleveland, he was the son of Nick D. and Minnie (Brock) Ring. Mr. Ring was a truck driver for Gordon’s Transports Inc. of Memphis, Tenn., for 40 years. He was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church of West Memphis, Ark., and Teamsters Local 667 of Memphis.
Survivors include his wife, Marline (Tucker) Ring; one son, Nick Ring of Cabot; two daughters, Sharron Ring McGugan of West Memphis, Ark., and Charlette Ring Bledsoe of Bartlett, Tenn.; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Holcomb officiating. Interment was in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens at Heber Springs.
Pallbearers were Loren Woody Ring, Ralph Ring, Bob Haney, Ray Ellis, Jim Poteete, and Steven Bledsoe. Arrangements were by Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs.
