Raymond N. Thomas, 70, of Perry died Sunday, June 13, 2004.
He was born May 31, 1934, at Canyon, Texas, to Jesse French and Eudell Pansey Shero Tho-mas. He was a Mill Right and a Christian.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Thomas; four sons, Charles Thomas and Don Womack, both of Little Rock; Scott Womack of Adona; and Kenneth Womack of Perry; a daughter, Sherry Buckler of Little Rock; a brother, George Thomas of Bentonville; a sister, Gladys Smith of Loveland, Colo., and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. (Wednesday) today, at Shinn Chapel. Burial will be in Needmore Cemetery
near Casa under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Pallbearers will be Joe Ammann, Mike Rosamond, Dale Carpenter, Dick Leech, Jim Lee, Warren Carpenter, Roger Paul, and William Paul.
Lula Winningham
Lula Shipley Williams Winningham, age 92, of Morrilton, Arkansas, died Sunday, June 13, 2004.
She was born April 10, 1912, in Formosa, Arkansas, a daughter of William Matthews Shipley and Gertrude Lawrence Shipley. Mrs. Winningham was the widow of Harry Olen Winningham, a homemaker, and a member of Formosa Church of Christ.
Survivors include daughter, Lillian Goatcher and husband, Truett, of Little Rock; sons, Bill Williams and wife, Jacque, of Bull Shoals and Jeff Williams and wife, June, of Clinton; sister-in-law, Bess Shipley of Morrilton; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Claude Williams.
Funeral services were 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Harris Chapel with Mr. Bruce Bryant officiating. Burial was at Halbrook Cemetery
by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Jack Goatcher, Ken Goatcher, Jeffrey Williams, Dale Williams, Geral Williams, and Clint Williams.
L.G. McCoy
L.G. McCoy, 77, of Jerusalem died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004.
He was born April 20, 1927, in Jerusalem, a son of John W. McCoy and Annie Byers McCoy. Mr. McCoy was the widower of Viva Lee Huffman McCoy, a member of Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church, and a retired grocery store owner and operator.
Survivors include a son, James M. McCoy of Jerusalem; one brother, Doyle McCoy of Jerusalem; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday at Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. A.E. “Bo” Coffman officiating. Burial was at Robertstown Cemetery

Kathleen Smith
Kathleen Smith, age 76, of Plumerville passed away Thursday, August 5, 2004.
She was born May 3, 1928, in Hazen, Arkansas, a daughter of Clarence Neil and Hassie Perry Neil. Mrs. Smith was the widow of Bro. Earl Smith, a homemaker, and a member of Portland Baptist Church since 1957.
Survivors include sons, Allen Smith of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Gary Smith and wife Linda of Plumerville; grandsons, Michael, Mark, and Johnny Smith of Plumerville; granddaughter Heather Joy of Boynton Beach, Florida; six great-grandchildren; brother, Earnest Neil of Hazen; sister, Frankie Floyd of Hazen; sisters-in-law, Sylvia “Tootsie” Neil of Jacksonville, Maxine Putt of Hazen, and Laverne Talbert of Des Arc; brother-in-law, James “Nix” Smith of Plumerville; and preceded in death by brother, Troy Neil.
Funeral services were 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Portland Baptist Church with Bro. Lindy Davis, Bro. Fritz Heidenreich, and Bro. Stephen Raines officiating. Burial at Plummerville Cemetery

CORRECTION
In the obituary in last week’s paper for Dr. Wilbur F. Britt, his children were inadvertedly omitted. He is survived by two children, Raegan Britt of Chicago and Derrick Britt of San Francisco.
Attending his funeral last week were his niece and her husband, Kay and David Osborne of Morrilton. Mrs. Osborne is the daughter of his late sister, Marilyn (Britt) Coleman.
Bobby Richardson
Bobby Gene Richardson, 61, of Perryville died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004.
He was born in Little Rock and served with the United States Army for 20 years as a master sergeant. He was the son of the late Billy and Billie Jean Richardson.
Survivors include one son, Heath Richardson of Texas; three sisters, Flora White of Bryant, Patricia Holt of Alexander and Helen Sears of Texas.
Arrangements were made by Ashby Funeral Home and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Jewel Henderson
Jewel L. Henderson, 78, of Kansas City, Mo., died Tuesday, July 20, 2004.
She was born on July 10, 1926, in Morrilton, to Na-thaniel and Lu-onn Gillam. She was the widow of Avray Henderson. She was a member of the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. She worked at the Sunflower Ammunition plant and the St. Luke’s Hospital for 44 years.
Survivors include four children, Larry D. King, Reba Y. Pouncil, Charlene King, and Gregory L. Henderson; one brother, Nathaniel Gilliam; five grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 27, at the E.R. Morris Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Dwayne McFeders officiated. Burial was in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Sara Bentley
Sara Lee Gordon Bentley, 83, of Morrilton, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2004.
She was born January 18, 1921, in Morrilton, a daughter of Edward Gordon and Ada Ruth (Bearden) Gordon. Mrs. Bentley was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church.
She graduated from Morrilton High School and attended Arkansas Tech in Russellville and graduated with a bachelor of science degree from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Ark.
Mrs. Bentley was a founding force and the first director of the Conway County Community Service Center in 1958. This highly innovative program was one of the first of its kind in the country and is credited with improving the lives of hundreds of families in the county. During her tenure, motivative juvenile and family therapeutic techniques were implemented which were ahead of the time and remain cutting edge almost a half century later.
Milestone programs she led into existence include provision for the first mental health clinic outside of Little Rock; day care services for working parents; the first legal aid program in the state; the first privatized probation, secretarial and intake services for the juvenile court; and recreational programs for youth and families.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Gordon Earl Bentley; children, Lyn Bentley Willis and her husband, Mike, of Houston, Texas; George E. Bentley, and his wife, Hanan, of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, George E. Bentley Jr. and wife, Tracy, of Benton, Gretchen Willis of Houston, Texas, Andrew B. Willis of Houston, Texas, Katherine Bentley Rogers of Denver, Colo.; Meredith Bentley of Denver, Colo., and Livia M. Bentley, of Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Dustin D. Bentley of Benton and Morgan A. Bentley of Benton; one brother, Nathan G. Gordon of Morrilton.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Gordon Jr., and her sister, Ruth Gordon Gephart.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, August 9, at Morrilton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Christopher Cooper officiating. Burial was at Elmwood Cemetery

Rena Williams
Rena Swinton Williams, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Happy Bend community, died on Monday, July 26, 2004, at her home.
She was born Sept. 11, 1912, in Morrilton, to Matthew and Lucy Swinton. She was the widow of Eddie Williams. She was a member of the the Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Mrs. Williams was a seamstress. Survivors include eight daughters, Rutha Jean White, Mary Williams, Edwinnia McDaniel, Lutricia Northern, Lee Noria Williams, all of Kansas City, Mo., Margaret Byers of Grandview, Mo., and the Rev. Janet Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn.; one son, Billy Joe Williams of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Murlean McGhee, of Cotton Plant; 23 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, July 30, at 11 a.m., at the Metropolitan AME Zion Church by the Rev. Michael Murray and the Rev. W.L. Templeton. Burial was at Forest Hill Cemetery

Ernestine Ferguson
Ernestine C. Ferguson, 70, of Kansas City, Mo., died recently.
She was born April 1, 1933, in Morrilton, to Bessie (Wells) Watson and Er-nest Watson. She was the widow of Eugene Davis. She obtained her Medical Assistant Certification. She work-ed at various hospitals and clinics throughout Kansas City and Los Angeles.
She was a member of the Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ where she was a member of the senior choir.
Survivors include three daughters, Bessie L. Rice of Morrilton, Carolyn J. McConnell of Northridge, Calif., and Pam-ela E. Davis of Kansas City, Mo.; one son, Eugene Davis Jr., of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Ann Watson of Cleveland, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 29, at the Palestine Missionary Baptist church. Burial was at Twelve Gates Cemetery.
Kayla Biggers
Kayla Jo Biggers, age 16, of Springfield, Arkansas, pas-sed away Thursday, August 5, 2004.
She was born June 3, 1988, in Little Rock, a daughter of Gus and Judy Biggers. Kayla was a junior at Morrilton High School, Student Council Secretary, a member of the Beta, Science, Spanish and Math Clubs, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
She participated in the MHS Marching Band where she played the saxophone, a MHS cheerleader, and a member of the MHS Lady Devil Dog softball team. Kayla was also Sovereign Queen in Girls Missionary Auxiliary and a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her parents include sisters, Tiffany Biggers and Alicia (Biggers) Jackson; brother-in-law, Josh Jackson, all of Springfield; grandparents, Bo and Ila Davidson of Plumerville and Myrt Biggers of Springfield; aunts, uncles, and cousins, Steve and Kathy Davidson and children of Little Rock, Nancy and Jimmy Hart and children of Springfield, Andy Biggers and children of Springfield, and Janis Biggers of Morrilton.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, August 7, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church by Bro. Mike Cantrell and Bro. Steve Shepherd. Burial was at Springfield Cemetery

Greg Turnipseed
Greg Turnipseed, 31, of Newman, Ga., died Saturday, July 7, 2004.
He was born June 5, 1973, to Frank and Doris Caldwell Turnipseed. He worked as a security officer at Eckerd Warehouse.
Survivors include his wife, Katy Turnipseed; mother, Doris Caldwell Turnipseed of Newman, Ga., two sisters, Pam Lee and Flossie Coker, both of Newman; and two brothers, Tony Turnipseed of Morrilton and Allen Turnipseed of Alvaton.
Funeral services were Tuesday in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Lee and Benny Coker officiating. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Harry Parkerson having the committal prayer.
Marilyn Hibbard
Marilyn Sue Hibbard, 55, of Perryville died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004.
She was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Little Rock to E.L. and Betty (Bailey) Bost. She graduated from Altheimer High School and Arkansas State University at Jonesboro with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was an art teacher at Perryville High School. Ms. Hibbard was a member of the Perryville United Methodist Church.
Other than her parents, survivors include two sons, Jody Hibbard of Star City and Jeffrey Hibbard of Perryville; two sisters, Joann Reed of Pine Bluff and Kelli Porter of Altheimer; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services are Wednesday, (today) 1 p.m. at the Perryville United Methodist Church with Dr. Beverly Watkins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the Perryville United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be Thursday, 11 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery

Briana Marie Briggler, age 5, of Morrilton, Arkansas, passed away August 9, 2004.
She was born March 17, 1999, in Russellville, Arkansas.
Survivors include her parents, David and Jackie Briggler of Morrilton; brothers, Benjamin and Joseph Briggler of the home; grandparents, George and Theresa Bost and Fred and Clara Briggler Sr., all of Morrilton; godparents, Randy Bost and Jennifer Briggler, both of Morrilton; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Cheryl Burnham
Cheryl Jean Lee Burnham, 47, of Delaware died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004.
She was born Jan. 28, 1957, in Little Rock. She was a member of the Crest View Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Denton Ray Lee.
Survivors include her husband, George Burnham of Delaware; two sons, George Burnham Jr. of Atkins and Phillip Burnham of Delaware; two daughters, Kathy Wainwright of Downsville, La. and Allison Rhoades of Delaware; mother, Shirley Ann Lee of Delaware; one brother, Eric Denton Lee of Delaware; three sisters, Twla Susie Lensing of Fort Smith, Paula Vinson of London, Ellen Lee Spivey of Delaware; and three grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Thursday, 10 a.m. at the Deleware First Baptist Church with the Rev. Elton Thomas, the Rev. Wiley Jones, and the Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. Internment will be at Graves Cemetery
at Delaware.

James Halbrook
James Franklin Halbrook, 79, of Bastrop, Texas died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2004.
He was a son of Ira El Halbrook and Sara Frances Wilder. Mr. Halbrook was a 1942 graduate of Plumerville High School, was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps after serving in the South Pacific during World War II, a member of Asbestos Workers Local 87.
Survivors include one son, David Halbrook; two daughters, Julia Frances Henderson and Phyllis Halbrook O’Niell; five grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Plummerville Cemetery
by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Pittman, Jack Pittman, Clifford Simms, Jody Duff, Chester Webb, and Geno Hoyt.

'Peaches" Riggs
Reegan Asa “Peaches” Riggs, infant daughter of Douglas William and Robyn Deshea Jones Riggs of Arkansas City, Kan., died Aug. 3, 2004, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.
Additional survivors include a sister, Rylee Riggs of the home; her paternal grandparents, Rex and Sylvia Riggs of Arkansas City, Kan.; and her maternal grandparents, Robert and Patricia Gail Jones of Pratt, Kan.
Graveside service and burial were 2 p.m. Tuesday at East Point Cemetery
near Russellville with the Rev. Claude Jackson officiating. Local arrangements were by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
