Joe Blake
Joe Donald Blake, 63, of Greenbrier, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005.

He was born March 13, 1942, in Morrilton, a son of the late Herbert Lee Blake. He was a machinist for Tiffany Industries and past president of Southern Council Industrial Workers Local No. 2385.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Lois Reinold of Conway; one son, Joe Conrad Cliburn of Conway; one brother, Rickie Blake of Fayetteville; three stepbrothers, Jerry W. Reinold of Greenbrier, David P. Reinold of Russellville, and James E. Reinold of Conway; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Harris Chapel with Mr. Charles Bane officiating. Private burial will be at a later date.

Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Frank Boren
Frank Boren, 53, of Atkins died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005.

He was born Aug. 25, 1952, in Morrilton. He retired from Wal-Mart as a senior district manager after 28 years of service. He received the Sam M. Walton Award of Excellence and was the youngest to be promoted to district manager at that time. He was co-owner of the Super-Soaker Car Wash, and a member of the Second Baptist Church of Arkadelphia.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda (McAlister) Boren; two sons, Brant Boren of San Diego, Calif. and James Boren of Springdale; his parents, J.R. and Lmurl Boren of Atkins; and one sister, Connie Sorrels of Atkins.

Funeral services were 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lemley Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Atkins City Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service.

Memorial donations may be made to the Frankie Lynn Boren Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o First Arkansas Valley Bank, 812 N. Church St., Atkins, AR 72823.

Virginia Crowell
Virginia Carey Crowell, age 83, of Morrilton, Arkansas, passed away Friday, December 30, 2005.
She was born June 5, 1922, in Solgoha-chia, Arkansas, a daughter of Elijah Carey and Laura (Bryant) Carey. She was the owner of Crowell Furniture and member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Mike Crowell and wife Kerry of Morrilton; daughter, Donna Fougerousse and husband George of Russellville; two sisters, Dolly Webb of Ontario, California, and Arbell Carey Leisure of Little Rock; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Crowell and two sons Roland and Bill Crowell.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2006, at Harris Chapel with Bro. Jim Mullins officiating. Burial was at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Randall Birdwell, John Gamble, Marvin Maxwell, Milford Kirtly, Royce Williams, and Jim Scroggins.
Memorials may be made to the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Youth Fund.

Tammy Elkins
Tammy E. Elkins, 46, of Springdale died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005.
She was born Oct. 19, 1959, in Morrilton to Leamon O. and Patricia (Ramsey) Elkins. She was a member of the Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale.
Survivors include her mother of Springdale; one brother, Edwin O. Elkins of Lake Forest, Calif.; and one sister, Janet R. Elkins of Huntington Beach, Calif.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Friday at Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale with Gary Frazier officiating. Burial was 3:30 p.m. p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Morrilton by Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale.
Pallbearers were Frank Davis, Jerry Danenhauer, Loyle Brad-ley, Kent Dobbs, and Harry Fitzgerald.

Isa Fields
Isa K. Simpson Fields, of Little Rock, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, after a long battle with cancer and heart problems.

Survivors include one son, Jerry L. Fields of Morrilton; two sisters, Mary McDonald of Morrilton, and Iva Kirchoff of Oppelo; and one brother, Frank Simpson of Pine Bluff.

Funeral services were 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Oppelo Assembly of God, with the Rev. Ronny Hull officiating. Burial was at Wolfe Cemetery by Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth.

Thomas Gunter
Thomas Robert Gunter of Little Rock died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005.

He was born Oct. 25, 1939, in Little Rock, the son of Clarence Robert Gunter and Sarah Pauline Clark. He was a carpenter and self-employed. He was the widower of Iva Gunter.

Survivors include his children, James Gunter of Little Rock, Timothy Gunter of Mabelvale, Lynn Floreke of Perryville, Kelly Payne of Benton, Shannon Bridges of Lonoke, and Chris Gunter of Mabelvale; one sister, Janet Humiston of Pemona, Kan., and 14 grandchildren.

A private service will be held at a later date by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.

Quinton Royce Hallsell
Quinton Royce Hallsell, 67, of Morrilton, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006.

He was born in Solgohachia on July 21, 1938, a son of Quinton Hallsell Sr. and Chole (Moore) Hallsell. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley J. Williams Hallsell; two sons, Royce Hallsell of Warren and Dewaye Hallsell of Plumerville; one stepson, Clinton Gilbert of Morrilton; one daughter, Pat Murphy West of Adona; one stepdaughter, Renee Le-wallen of Springfield; one grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchidren.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Kilgore Cemetery. Services and arrangement are by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Doyle Joslin
Doyle J. Joslin, 77, of England, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, at England Manor Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 13, 1928, in rural Conway County to Alvin Doyle and Nola Jane (Lilly) Joslin, he was raised and received his education at Pawpaw Bend near Oppelo, and in North Little Rock and England. An Army veteran, he was a retired agent of Reliable Life Insurance Company. He was a member of County Line Missionary Baptist Church in Lo-noke County.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Lou (Morgan-Terry) Joslin; five sons, Terry Joslin and James Joslin, both of England, J. David Joslin and Larry McMillan, both of Little Rock, and Rick Joslin of White Hall; a daughter, Debra Duvall of Batesville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside service, to be officiated by Bro. Rocky Joslin of Austin, a grandson of the deceased, were 11 a.m. Friday, at Mulberry Cemetery in England. Burial was by Wilson Funeral Home of England.

Pallbearers were Joey Joslin (a grandson of the deceased), Buck Bagwell, Darrell Ratliff and Delmar Scribner of England, Bud Harkey of Stuttgart and McMillan. Honorary pallbearers were uncles of the deceased, C. F. Lilly and James Lilly of Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the form of contributions, to support animal rescue services, at Chenal Valley Animal Hospital, 18 Rahling Circle, Little Rock, AR 72203.

Logan‘Skeet’ Kissire
Logan “Skeet” Kissire, age 84, of Morrilton, passed away January 2, 2006.

He was born July 15, 1921, near Atkins, a son of Joe Henry Kissire and Oma Kissire. He was a retired auditor for the state of Arkansas, a 1950 graduate of Oklahoma State University, a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, first lieutenant, piloting B25s in World War II. He was a member and former treasurer of the Plummerville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Voncille James Kissire; his son Jim and daughter-in-law Debbie Kissire of McLean, Virginia; grandson, Rick Kissire of McLean, Virginia; granddaughter, Kelly Kissire Thompson; and great-grandson, Gage Thompson of Conway, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by a son, Rick Kissire.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, at the Plummerville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Von Dell Mooney officiating. Burial will be in Plummerville Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers are Dennis James, Woody James, David Dersch, Dr. John Shuffield, David James, Dr. Jimmy Shuffield, and Dusty Dersch.

Grover Martin
Grover Lee Martin, 84, of Morrilton died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005.

He was born in Cleveland, Nov. 27, 1921, a son of W.S. and Gladys Jewel (Bryant) Martin. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, a retired newspaper deliveryman, and a member of Downtown Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene (Swafford) Martin of Morrilton; a daughter, Mary Lee Baker of Bakersfield, Calif., and two stepsons, Gary Brown and David Brown, both of Bee Branch; three brothers, Glenard Martin of Morrilton, Calvin “Buddy” Martin of Perry, and Aman Martin of Morrilton; one sister, Calvina (Martin) Harmon of Aplin; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Charles Bane officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers will be Terry Martin, David Brown, Colby Brown, Tony Martin, Casey Martin, and Chris Harmon. Honorary pallbearer will be Cade Brown.

Mollie Miller
Mollie Elizabeth Evans Miller, 67, of Cleveland, died at her home Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005. She was born on Dec. 17, 1938, in Oppelo, a daughter of Orville Evans and Bertha (McGee) Evans. She was the widow of Bill Miller.

Survivors include two daughters, Melinda Flowers and Laurie Thompson, both of Cleveland; six sisters, Mary Whitley of North Carolina, Joyce Huff of Morrilton, Sharon Amoroso of Perryville, Barbara Cline Bell of Russellville, Jo Pearson of Jonesboro, and Martha Charton of Morrilton; five brothers, Robert Evans of Fayetteville, and Wayne Evans, Lee Evans, David Evans, and Tommy Evans, all of Morrilton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 1 p.m., Friday, at the Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home. Interment was at Reid Cemetery by Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Ollie Miller
Ollie Verona Crain Miller, 96, of Watson died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005.
She was born Nov. 20, 1909 in Hollis to John and Ella Crain. She was the widow of Lester Miller and a member of Watson Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Earlene DeWeese of Watson; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was 1 p.m. Friday in Nooner Cemetery, Hollis with the Rev. Eddie Powers officiating. Arrangements were by Griffin Funeral, Dumas.

William ‘Bill’ Pilkington
William E. “Bill” Pilkington, 60, of Virginia Beach, Va., died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005.

He was born Sept. 4, 1945 in Morrilton, the son of Wayne and Cecelia (Drilling) Pilkington. He graduated from Catholic High School in Little Rock in 1963, and received a degree in business administration from North Texas State University in 1968. He started working at Curtis Mathes as a teenager for the Mathes family where he worked his way through college. In 1971, he was appointed sales manager for Curtis Mathes in Puerto Rico. He owned three television stores in West Palm Beach, Fla., and later moved to Canada to work for Thompson Multimedia and continued to work for them until his death.

Survivors include two sons, Chief Petty Officer Christopher Montie Pilkington of Virginia Beach, Va., and Staff Sergeant William Pilkington II of Tampa, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Melissa Brown Muckart of New Zealand; six brothers, Larry Pilkington of Sheridan; Don Pilkington, Paul Pilkington and Bob Pilkington, all of Little Rock, George Pilkington of Cabot, and Pete Pilkington and Jim Pilkington, both of Conway; one sister, Betty Fortner of Hot Springs; and three grandchildren.

A Rosary was said Thursday at 7 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. in the Cathedral of St. Andrew. Burial follows at Calvary Cemetery. Father Ralph Reyes, O.C.D., will serve as Celebrant.

Memorials may be made to Marylake Monastery, 5151 Marylake Drive, Little Rock, AR 72206.

Irma Thomas
Irma Estelle Thomas, 93, of North Little Rock, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, in Perryville. She was born June 1, 1912, in Little Rock to Edwin Davis and Ruby Rena (Hardcastle) Davis. She was the widow of James A. Thomas and a member of Crosspoint Baptist Church.

Survivors include one granddaughter and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was 11 a.m., Friday at Roselawn Memorial Park by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway.

Shirley Billingsley
Shirley Jean Billingsley, 42, of London died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at her home.

She was born July 23, 1963, at Harrison, to the late George William and Hazel Marie (Ruff) Billingsley. She was raised in Southern Christian Home in Morrilton.

Survivors include a son, Michael J. Fowler of the home; four sisters, Joyce Henson of Jacksonville, Dorothy Billingsley of Cotton Valley, La., Jane Coffer of Russellville, and Shiela Billingsley of Morrilton.

A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 6, at 5 p.m. at the home of Jane and Gary Coffer in Russellville. Cremation arrangements were by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle.

Dr. Ralph Douglas
Dr. Ralph Lee Douglas, 99, of Pine Bluff, died on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006.

Born in Springfield (Conway County), on April 7, 1906, he was a son of Robert Lee and Martha Antha (Walker) Douglas. He attended high school in Morrilton and England, graduating from high school in Wewoka, Okla. He attended College of the Ozarks and graduated from what is now Ouachita Baptist University. He was in business in Lake Village for five years where he owned a grocery store and automobile agency, farmed, and was music director at his church.

He began preaching in 1939 and pastored several churches in Arkansas and Kentucky. He served 10 years on the board of trustees for Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He graduated with a doctorate in theology from seminary in 1945.

He joined the Arkansas Baptist State Convention as associate executive secretary and business manager, where he worked for 18 years, serving five years on their board’s administrative committee and as first vice president of the convention. He helped organize Frontier Life Ins. Co., International Mercantile Co. and Universal Holding Co., serving on the executive committees of those boards for 25 years without missing a meeting. He also ran a butane gas company and 500-acre soybean and rice farm.

He served as chaplain of the Arkansas National Campers and Hikers Association for 18 years, was chaplain of the Arkansas Good Sam Campers, and was a member of Campers on Mission and served as their president for two years.

Serving on a committee with Dr. Morris Ashcroft, Dr. Daniel Grant, Dr. H.E. Williams, and Dr. W.O. Vaught, they raised $5,000,000 for Ouachita Baptist University and Williams Baptist College.

During his ministry he preached in 112 revivals with 2,006 conversions, conducted 204 stewardship revivals and clinics and held 12 interim pastorates. A deacon and member of First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, he served as assistant teachers of The Pastor’s Sunday School Class and sang in the church choir. A 32nd-degree Mason, he was a member of the West Pine Bluff Rotary Club and the Jefferson County, Pulaski County and Phillips County historical societies.

He was the widower of Blanche (Riley) Douglas.

Survivors include one son, Hunter Riley Douglas of Little Rock; one daughter, Rosalee Douglas Scott of Pine Bluff; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff with Dr. Bill Brown, the Rev. Pete Petty and the Rev. Gordon Topping officiating. Committal services followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock.

The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Ralph and Blanche Riley Douglas Scholarship funds at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia.

Johnnie Edmondson
Johnnie Sue Edmondson, 38, of Jacksonville, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006.

Born June 22, 1967, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Edmondson.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Gwen and Mike Turpin of Jacksonville; one brother, Greg Edmondson of Cabot; maternal grandmother, Ruby Sullivan; and paternal grandmother, Louise Edmondson.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville with her uncle, Dr. Ted Edmondson officiating. Arrangements by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arkansas Hospice.

Pauline Freyaldenhoven
Pauline Freyaldenhoven, 84, of Conway died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006.

She was born Sept. 27, 1921, in Center Ridge, a daughter of Tony and Mary (Lanni) Andrews. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Christian Ladies Society, and the widow of William “Bill” Freyaldenhoven.

Survivors include Paul William “Bill” Freyaldenhoven of Morrilton; three daughters, Pat Skelton, Bonnie Gunter and Susan Robertson, all of Conway; four brothers, Edward Andrews, John Andrews, George Andrews, and Raymond Andrews, all of Center Ridge; four sisters, Grace Gunderman and Bernice Charton of Morrilton, Theresa DeSalvo and Cecelia DeSalvo of Center Ridge; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment following at Crestlawn Memorial Park by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Davidson, Jay Guthrie and her grandsons.
