Susan Houff
Susan “Suzy” Renee Houff, 50, of Wye Mountain, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006.
She was born Feb. 28, 1956, in Casper, Wyo., a daughter of Lois (Collier) Spinks and Howard E. Spinks. She was a member of Natural Steps Baptist Church and a licensed physical therapy assistant.
Survivors include her husband, Donald M. Houff Jr.; twins, Laura Houff and Aaron Houff, both of Little Rock; two brothers, Greg Spinks of Perryville and William Don Spinks of Glendale, Ariz.; mother-in-law, Margie Houff of Little Rock; and father-in-law, Donald Houff of Little Rock.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Chapel with burial in Wye Cemetery.

Ardith Kellar
Ardith L. Kellar, 74, of Jacksonville departed this life on Thursday, April 6, 2006.
He was born in Conway County, AR, to the late Ben and Florance Kellar. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Kellar. In 1948, he started his Air Force career with basic training at Lackland AFB. He attended OCS in 1956 and became a helicopter pilot, receiving several awards for helicopter rescues. On retirement, he graduated from UALR with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He was a practicing CPA for several years in Little Rock and Jacksonville. Ardith was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville and a York Right Mason. He was a local businessman and served on the residential Housing Facilities Board for the city of Jacksonville.
Art is survived by his wife of 55 years, LaVerne Stover Kellar, two sons; Steve Kellar and wife Sue of Sherwood and Dr. Stan Kellar and wife Donna of North Little Rock, one daughter, Linda Shore and husband Steve of Jacksonville, seven grandchildren; Brian Kellar of Austin, Texas, Shaun Kellar of Dallas, Texas, Damon Kellar and wife, Andrea of North Little Rock, Stacy Kellar of Bryan, Nich-olas Dobbs of Jacksonville, Aaron and Lori Shore of Jacksonville; two great-granddaughters; Abigail Kellar and Katelin Kellar, three sisters; Syble Stout and husband, Leon of Conway, Sula Stobaugh of Conway and Shirley Hardke and husband Fred of Carlisle, four brothers; J.F. and wife Wanda of Little Rock, Luther and wife Legenia of Little Rock, Ron and wife, Debbie of Benton, and Dewey and wife Lou of San Angelo, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are noon, Monday, April 10, 2006, at First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, with Bro. Ben Kelley and Bro. Cliff Hutchins officiating. Interment followed in Arkansas State Veterans Cem-etery in North Little Rock.

Betty McCoy
Betty McCoy, 37, of Conway died Tuesday, April 4, 2006.
She was born Feb. 8, 1969, in Morrilton, a daughter of Clifton and Rosie Young. She was a graduate of Nemo Vista High School and attended Arkansas Tech University. She was a medical assistant at Conway Regional Surgical Center.
Other than her mother, survivors include her husband, Stephen McCoy; one son, Derail McCoy of Conway; one daughter, Latoya McCoy of Conway; two brothers, Clifton Young Jr. of Clarksville and Herman Young of Springfield; two sisters, Linzy Purifoy of Conway and Shirley Foster of Morrilton.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Springfield with the Rev. David Cox officiating. Burial was at Holly Springs Cemetery
by Wilson and Jarrett Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Kevin Young, Steve Young, Clifford Criswell, Melvin Hawkins, Timothy Hawkins, and Tony Haw-kins. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Holly Springs and Mt. Carmel Baptist churches.
Carl Mulvaney
Carl L. Mulvaney, 56, of Pine Bluff died Sunday, April 9, 2006.
He was born July 31, 1949, in Newport, to Vernon Lee and Wilma Katherine (Benson) Mulvaney. He was reared and received his education in Bradford. Before becoming disabled, he was a repairman for Carrier Sales and Service. Mr. Mulvaney was a Baptist.
Survivors include his common-law wife, Linda Gilbert of Pine Bluff; and one sister, Phyllis Flowers of Memphis, Tenn.
Services will be private at the request of the family. Arrangements are by Ralph Robinson and Son.
Alice Patton
Alice Viola Patton, 58, of Morrilton, died Thursday, April 6, 2006.
She was born on March 31, 1948, in Morrilton, a daughter of Robert Bryant and Othel Mary Elizabeth Bryant. She was of the Baptist faith and was the widow of Wilburn Patton.
Survivors include one son, Michael Patton of Morrilton; two daughters, Theresa Cook of Conway and Vicky Riddle of Belton, Texas; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday at the Bob Neal & Sons Chapel. Interment was at the Elmwood Cemetery. Services and arrangements by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Louis Pfeifer
Louis G. “Jerry” Pfeifer, 53, of North Little Rock died Friday, April 7, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer over the past eight years.
He was born on Dec. 23, 1952, the son of the late Louis S. and Dorothy Gottsponer Pfeifer of North Little Rock. He received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture business from Arkansas Tech. He began his career on the family farm with his parents in the St. Vincent community for many years. He then worked as an insurance agent for the Knights of Columbus in Morrilton and GPM in North Little Rock. He served his country for 20 years in public relations with the Arkansas National Guard 176 PAD at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock. He was deployed to Saudia Arabia, South Korea, Iraq and other foreign countries during this time.
Survivors include two sons, Louis Justin Pfeifer and Joshua Pfeifer of North Little Rock; two sisters, Karen Mangiaracina of North Little Rock and Ruth Linn of Morrilton; one brother, Dennis Pfeifer of North Little Rock.

Mass of Christian burial was held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in St. Vincent. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery. A rosary service was held 6 p.m. Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home.
Robert Thomas
Robert “Babe” Thomas, 59, of Cahokia, Ill., formerly of Morrilton, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006.
He was born July 23, 1946, in St. Louis, Mo., a son of Charles E. Thomas and Phyliss (Orlando) Thomas. He was a demolition expert.
Survivors include his mother, Phyllis (Orlando) Thomas; one son, Robert Thomas of Milan, Tenn.; one daughter, Tamie Valdez of North Little Rock; one sister, Trudy Dutton of Morrilton; two brothers, Donald Leroy “Cotton” Thomas and Phillip E. Thomas, both of Morrilton; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday at Harris Chapel with Bro. James Thomason officiating. Burial was at Wolf Cemetery
by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Donald Leroy “Cotton” Thomas, Robert Tho-mas, Phillip Thomas, Richard Thomas, Herby Lemlen, and Mark Thomas.
‘Bill’ Wallace
William “Bill” Joseph Wallace, age 56, of Plumerville, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006.
He was born September 2, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, a son of the late Marion Tull Wallace and Irma Enola (Ramsey) Wallace. He was a retired Air Force veteran having served in the gulf and Vietname War era.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Killough Wallace of London, Arkansas; one son, Weston Wallace of Florida; four daughters, Gretchen Keyse of Dardanelle, Arkansas; Heather Hall of Levasy, Missouri; Stephanie Cole of Independence, Missouri; Chelsea Schultz of Wisconsin; four sisters, Marlene Floyd of El Cajon, California; Darlene Roberson of Junction City, Kansas; Sha-ron Fessman of Liberty, Missouri, and Linda Stafford of Independence, Missouri; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Arthur Wallace.
A memorial service with 
military honors was held 2 p.m. Friday, April 7, at the Harris Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Davis officiating. Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Earl Ward
Earl Willard “Bud” Ward, 86, of Springfield, Arkansas, died Monday, April 3, 2006.
He was born in Springfield on October 3, 1919, a son of the late John and Ruth Williams Ward.
Earl retired from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, D.C., in October 1971, and moved to the farm in Cypress Valley, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Erma “Dude” Ward and Reba Nadine “Dean” Epperson, and brothers, James, Norman “Doc,” John “Jiggs,” and Bobby Ward.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 39 years, Louisa Ann (Cooley) Ward; daughter, Susan “Shanta’ Ward, who lives in India; a son, Earl Ward and wife Barbara of Riverdale, Maryland; brothers, Melvin Ward and wife Leah Dell of Morrilton and Irpel Ray Ward and wife Helen of El Paso, Texas.
Earl served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed farming, was an avid golfer, former volunteer fireman and liked to work out at the health club. He received many awards while working at the Naval Research Laboratory. Earl also served on the Board of Education in Prince Georges County, Maryland; Kilgore Cemetery
Board, and Morrilton Country Club Board.
Graveside services were 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Kilgore Cemetery
with the Rev. Robert Williams officiating. Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Ed Underwood, James Williams, Mark McVey, Charles Edwards, James “Cowboy” Henderson, and Paul Cooley.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice, Morrilton, Arkansas.
Willie Anderson
Willie Anderson, 89, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Plumerville, died Friday, April 7, 2006.
She was born Jan. 2, 1917, a daughter of Frank and Amelia Black.
Survivors include five sons, Eddie Lee Leapheart of Jackson, Miss., Morris Leapheart, Luther Roy Anderson, and Robert Earl Anderson, all of Kansas City, Mo., and Aaron Anderson of Morrilton; two daughters, Armedia Anderson and Willie McNeal, both of Kansas City, Mo.; two stepsons, Jimmie Lee Anderson of Bowling Green, Ky., and Mack Anderson of East St. Louis, Ill.; 22 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was 10 a.m., Monday at Edmondson Cemetery
in Plumerville by the Rev. Ollie Maxfield. Arrangements were by Wilson and Jarrett Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pat Allison
Patricia “Pat” Allison, 78, of Conway died Thursday, April 13, 2006.
She was born June 23, 1927, in Bigelow, a daughter of Ambrose and Elizabeth Canant. She was a retired secretary of Guidance Department at Hall High School in Little Rock. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Conway.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, J.E. “Buddy” Allison; two daughters, Nancy Clowers and Janis Elms, both of Conway; and four grandchildren.
A gathering in her honor was held from 2 to 4 p.m., Monday at College Square Retirement Community. A family graveside service was held at Roselawn Cemetery
in Little Rock.

Susan Bryant
Susan Diane Bryant, age 39, left this world Saturday, April 15, 2006, to be with the Lord and her beloved brother, Robert Dale Bryant, and her dad, Robert Bry-ant Sr.
She was born Feb. 4, 1967, in Morrilton, Ark., a daughter of Robert Bryant Sr. and Clara Thomey Bryant Talley. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Murphy of Plumerville; mother, Clara Thomey Bryant Talley and stepfather Carl Talley of Morrilton; one sister, Deborah Peterson of Plumerville; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral Mass was 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Charles Thessing officiating. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery
by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Jesse Charton, Jason Murphy, Terry Wilmoth, Shawn Mooney, Jay Peterson, and Regan Murphy.
Eva Calhoun
Eva Lois Oates Calhoun, 89, of Oppelo, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
She was born May 20, 1916, to Ella Mae (Van Winkle) Oates and Dr. Louis Thomas Oates. She attended Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas) in Conway and graduated from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas, with a degree in Home Economics. She taught school in Wilson, Center Ridge and Morrilton before finishing her teaching career in Okmulgee, Okla. After teaching she served as the Resident Director of Jones Hall at Arkansas Tech University for several years.
She was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church in Morrilton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lela Mary Calhoun Maxwell; her sister, Lela Oates Ormond and her husband, Arthur; and her brother, William Louis Oates and his wife, Mary Ellen.
Survivors include her son, Hall McCoy Calhoun III and his wife, Judy, of Oppelo; her son-in-law, Ronald S. Maxwell of Booneville; her three granddaughters, Ella Maxwell Long and her husband, Jason, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Lynn Calhoun and her friend, Barb Longair of Russellville, and Leeann Calhoun Mobley and her husband, Mickey, of Oppelo; four great-grandchildren, Lucy and Katie Ruth Long of Winston-Salem; and Evan and Will Mobley of Oppelo; her niece, Ella Ann Ormond Peters and her husband, Flave, of Little Rock; her nephew, Charles Louis Ormond and his wife, Shirley, of Morrilton and Harrison; three great-nieces, Martha Ann Kooistra and her husband, John, of Little Rock, Shannon Ormond Waddell and her husband, George, of Little Rock, and Scarlett Ormond Willard and her husband, Herky of Hot Springs; her great-nephew, Ormond W. Peters and his wife, Patricia, of Russellville; four great-great-nieces, Stella and Sterling Waddell of Little Rock, Brittany Peters of Russellville and Ann Marie Kooistra Gray and her husband, Alex, of Little Rock; six great-great-nephews, Louis Waddell of Little Rock, Julian, Canyon and Brody Willard of Hot Springs, Nathan Peters of Russellville and Samuel Kooistra of Little Rock; as well as many cousins and friends.
The funeral services were 11 a.m., Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Morrilton officiated by the Rev. Frank Leblanc. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery
in Morrilton, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers were Ronnie Maxwell, Phillip Lentz, Mickey Mobley, Jason Long, Frank Cornett, Ormond Peters, and Scott Polk. Honorary pallbearers were Ed Massey, George Wade, Char-les Ormond, Flave Peters and Ray Zimmerman.

Essie Cherry
Essie Pearl (Harrell) Cherry, 89, of Morrilton, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006.
She was born Feb. 2, 1917, in Otto, a daughter of Oliver Pearson and Ida (Tullos) Pearson. She attended Forte Reach Ministries.
Survivors include one son, Billy Harrell of Bentonville; three daughters, Felece Gassman of North Little Rock, Yvonne Cagle of Hensley and Martha Robinson of Morrilton; one sister, Cordell Sommerville of El Cajon, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Saturday at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Donald Hillis and Bro. Sam Bryant officiating. Burial was at Sumner Cemetery
near Vilonia by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
