Thompson

OSCEOLA -- Maggie Mae Taylor Thompson, 82, of Osceola died Thursday, Nov. 18, at Osceola.

Born at Hope, she was a retired school cook. having worked for the Wilson School District for 20 years. She was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at Osceola and was a former member of Wilson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Wilson.

Survivors include one daughter, Christine Simmons of Slidell, La.; one son, Herman Cole of Osceola; three sisters, Lillie Barr, Mary Ann Wells and Glorious Hardin, all of St. Louis; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Wilson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Wilson, with the Rev. Waldo Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Rivercrest Gardens at Marie under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.

Vaught-Armstrong

BENTON -- Kelley Shannon Vaught-Armstrong, 31, of Benton, formerly of Hickory Ridge, died Friday, Nov. 19, at Doctor's Hospital at Little Rock.

Born at Wynne, she was raised in Hickory Ridge and graduated from Cross County High School at Cherry Valley. She earned an occupational therapy degree from the University of Central Arkansas at Conway.

She worked at Pathfinder Preschool at Jacksonville, where she was director of therapy.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Bryan Armstrong of Benton; two sons, Andrew Armstrong and Gardner Armstrong, both of the home; three daughters, Kendall Anna Wilson and Elizabeth Perkins Armstrong and Emmaline Vaught Armstrong, all of the home; her parents, Sam and Donna Vaught of Hickory Ridge; and one brother, Eric Kelly of Vanndale.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery at Hickory Ridge.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital at Little Rock.

Baker

JACKSON, Tenn. -- Pansy Dean Baker, 72, of Jackson died Wednesday, Dec. 1, at her residence.

Born in Ripley, Tenn., she was a former resident of Jonesboro.

Survivors include two daughters, Betsy Raines and Debby DePriest, both of Jackson, and two grandchildren, Chris Raines and Chelsey DePriest, both of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Baker.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Halls Funeral Home in Halls, Tenn. Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery at Ripley.

Carmon

LUXORA -- James "Steve" Carmon, 60, of Luxora died Wednesday, Dec. 1, at his residence.

Born in Tomato, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War, was a construction worker and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Mitchusson Carmon of Luxora, and two sisters, Peggy H. Brown and Mary J. Carson, both of Lafayette, La.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Carmon.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville, with the Rev. George Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Cassels

TYRONZA -- Peggy Jean Cassels, 50, of Tyronza died Thursday, Dec. 2, at St. Bernard's Medical Center at Jonesboro.

A lifetime resident of the Black Oak community, she worked with the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society and was a waitress at Travelair Restaurant at Marked Tree for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Cassels; one stepson, Jeff Cassels of Marked Tree; one sister, Brenda L. Stephenson of Hot Springs and two grandchildren, Dalton Cassels and Gares Cassels, both of Marked Tree.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Marked Tree Cemetery. Burial will be under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree.

Memorials may be made to the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society.

Costello

MARKED TREE -- Nettie Costello, 97, of Marked Tree died Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Three Rivers Nursing Home.

She was a member of Anderson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and the Marked Tree Civic Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jo Winston of Minneapolis and Rose Carpenter of Tyronza; 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Costello.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Anderson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willie Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Marked Tree under the direction of Sims-Woodard Funeral Service of Marked Tree.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Creek

PARAGOULD -- Donald Creek, 71, of Paragould died Thursday, Dec. 2, at the VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

He was born in Greenway.

Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Creek of Texas; three sons, Jerry Creek, Terry Creek and Kerry Creek, all of Texas; two brothers, Larry Creek of Rector and J.W. "Dub" Milburn of Piggott; and one sister, Evelyn West of Piggott.

He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Creek; his parents, John and Alice Reed Creek, and two brothers, Clifford Creek and Jack Creek.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis, with Jerry Massey officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott.

Daughhetee

POCAHONTAS -- Lessie Lee Daughhetee, 101, of Pocahontas died Friday, Dec. 3, at Randolph County Nursing Home.

She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ belief.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Daughhetee of Walnut Ridge; a sister, Esther Hitt of Missouri; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Daughhetee; four sons, Don Daughhetee, Virgil Daughhetee, A.E. Daughhetee and Ray Daughhetee; her parents, Eli and Laura Darnell Cline; one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Cox-Waymon Funeral Home in Pocahontas, with Roger Hovis officiating. Burial will follow in Gross Cemetery near Attica.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Edwards

POCAHONTAS -- A memorial service for Garry H. Edwards, 60, of Pocahontas, who died Thursday, Dec. 2, at Randolph County Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Pocahontas Missionary Baptist Church.

McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas is in charge of arrangements.

Fields

Boyce "Hoodley" Fields, 75, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Dec. 2, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Lake City, he was a lifetime resident of the Jonesboro and Lake City areas and of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include a son, David Fields of Paragould; seven daughters, Vanessa Greer, Bonnie Sessums, Geneva Richmond, Sheila York and Sharon Desonza, all of Paragould, and Rose Smith and Lila Simmons, both of Egypt; a brother, Max Fields of Eureka, Mo.; a sister, Janice Despain of Fisher, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ella Mae Fields, two brothers and one sister.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland, with Randy Lingenfelter officiating. Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Gary Simmons, Calvin Simmons, Camerson Smith, Steve Pruitt, Claudie Gardner and Robert Miller.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
