Flora Kathryn "Kitty" Bright

Flora Kathryn "Kitty" Bright, 92, of Paragould died Friday, June 14, 2002, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 25, 1909, in New Home Community, Greene County. She was a retired beautician and cosmetologist. She was also a member of Second and Walnut Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Martha McInturff; her husband, Guy Bright; two brothers, Joe McInturff and Alf McInturff; and four sisters, Mella Jane McInturff, Mary Rozella Baird, Nora Harper and Martha Pearl Pearson.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Guy Bright of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Carolyn Jane Thornton of Cabot; two sisters, Ruth Maleare of Paragould and Rae T. Smith of California, Ky.; and a grandson, Adam Guy Bright.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Thomas R. Smith and James A. Brown officiating. Burial will be at Purcell Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be the nephews, Jack Emery, Fred Harper, Dan Harper, Jerry Maleare, Sam McInturff and Peg Emery.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nephews, James David Maleare, Mike McInturff, Dennis Smith, Charles Harper and Adam Bright.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Lula Lemmons Dollars

Lula Lemmons Dollars, 82, of Senath, Mo., formerly of Paragould died Friday, June 14, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 13, 1920, in Walcott. She was a former cook and member of Bethel Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death #by her parents, Milton and Carrie Lemmons; and a brother, Nolen Lemmons.

Survivors include a brother, Coleman Lemmons of Whitney, Texas; and five sisters, Bettie Austin and Mathel Ellington, both of Paragould, Ida Belle Lambert of St. Peters, Mo., Coletta Dillard of Jonesboro and Demetra Kiihnl of Searcy.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Pine Knot Cemetery with Darrell Austin officiating.

Pallbearers will be the nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, before the service, at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

The procession will leave the funeral home at 12:35 p.m.

The family requests memorials be made to Crowley's Ridge Academy or a charity of choice.

J.W. Keeling

J.W. Keeling, 73, of Paragould died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was born July 4, 1928, in Russellville. He was a retired mechanic and Assembly of God minister. He was of the Assembly of God faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Keeling; his parents, Finis and Lavada Keeling; a brother, Connie Keeling; and three sisters, Charlene Steele, Janell Tapp and Ethelene Widemon.

Survivors include a son, Gary Keeling of Helena; a daughter, Jackie Keeling of Helena; a brother, Ronnie Keeling of Bowling Green, Ky.; five sisters, Ruth Smothers of Flippin, Ruby Byrd of Marmaduke, Ellen Mann of Temple, Texas, and Joan Traughber and Barbara Whitehead, both of Palm Springs, Calif.; and a grandchild.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould. Burial will be at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Sarah Jane Newberry

Sarah Jane Newberry, 69, of Paragould died Friday, June 14, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born July 18, 1932, in Jackson, Tenn. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Mary Hood.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Newberry of Paragould; a son, Tom Newberry of Paragould; and a granddaughter, Amanda Newberry.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould with Eric Newberry officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, before the service, at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

The procession will leave the funeral home at 10:50 a.m. Monday.

Lula Mae Sherrill

Lula Mae Sherrill, 72, of Corning died Friday, June 14, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Hickoria. She was a nursing home aide and member of the First General Baptist Church in Corning.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Sherrill; her parents, Everett Lee and Mary Catherine Sherill Staggs; and two brothers.

Survivors include four brothers, David Staggs and Danny Staggs, both of Corning, Clinton Staggs of Mulberry Grove, Ill., and Sammy Staggs of Stillman Valley, Ill.; and three sisters, Lola Marie Sterling of Union, Mo., Lela Hutchings of Rockford, Ill., and Vercie Agnes Staggs of Springfield, Ill.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning with the Rev. Doug McClellan officiating. Burial will be at Cantwell Cemetery in Corning.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

Johnnie Mack Simpson

Johnnie Mack Simpson of Kenton, Tenn., died Friday, June 14, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 11, 1948, in Rutherford. He was an iron worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Simpson.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Simpson of Kenton; two sons, Tony Simpson of Sidonia, Tenn., and Trent Simpson of Kenton; a daughter, Shayla Owens of Kenton; five brothers, Terry Simpson of Paragould, Pete Simpson and Harry Simpson, both of Rutherford, Travis Simpson of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Jamie Simpson of Maywood, Ill.; a sister, Linda Hurst of Paragould; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Karnes Chapel in Kenton. Burial will be at Sunnyside.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at Karnes Chapel.

Jean Langdon

Jean Langdon, 77, of Paragould died Friday, June 14, 2002, at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are pending with McDaniel Funeral Service in Senath, Mo.

James M. Schenck Sr.

James M. Schenck Sr., 51, of Paragould died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born March 26, 1951, in Waterbury, Conn. He was an electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Gordon and Lillian Smith Schenck; and a brother, John Gordon Schenck Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Schenck of the home; two sons, James Schenck Jr., and Christopher Sorrentino, both of Paragould; a granddaughter, Tiffany Sorrentino of Paragould; a brother, Russell Schenck of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Debra Fellows of San Diego and JoAnn and William Krasinsky of Naugatuck, Conn.; several nephews, nieces and families; and many friends and union brothers.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with Mark Book, Kirby Smith and James Warbington officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Rannels, E.J. Bolster, Buz Schmid, Randal Tracer, Barry March and Jim Drennan. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Bunch, Kent Schmid, Don Richardson, Doug Cornelius, Floyd Rush, Richard Williford and Lee Ramsey.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Mack Wayne Parker

Mack Wayne Parker, 61, of Paragould died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Greene County. He was a retired painter.

He was preceded in death his wife, Wanda "Deloris" Smith Parker; and two brothers, Bryan Parker Jr. and Bill Parker.

Survivors include four daughters, Tricia Montoya of Paragould, Cheryl Buchanan of Salem, Tammie Whitlow of Alaska and Annette Parker of California; a brother, Walter Parker of California; two sisters, Vesta Howard of Paragould and Ruth French of Lafe; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with the Rev. Marion Gramling officiating. Burial will be at Pine Knot Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 this evening at the funeral home.

Sgt. Steven Dale Eakins

Sgt. Steven Dale Eakins, 40, of Burleson, Texas, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Fort Worth Texas Hospital.

He was born July 13, 1962, in Louisville, Ky. He was a graduate of Arkansas State University and the Dallas Police Academy. He was employed by the Dallas Police Department for one year. He was senior patrol sergeant and field training officer for the Burleson Police Department, where he had been a dedicated employee for 13 years. Eakins was named Officer of the Year in 1995.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Eakins.

Survivors include his mother, Inez Eakins of Marmaduke; his Yorkshire Terrier, Bill, who went on patrol with Steven; four brothers, Bruce Eakins of Paragould, Larry Eakins of Indianapolis, Ind., Melvin Eakins of Mammoth Spring and Phillip Eakins of Roswell, Ga.; three sisters, Linda Campbell of Marmaduke, Barbara Bonner of Granbury, Texas and Diane Potter of Haslet, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with the Revs. Melvin York and David Poe officiating. Burial will be at Providence Cemetery in Lafe.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, before the service, at the funeral home.

The family requests memorials be made to Wings of Hope, P.O. Box 445, Burleson, TX 76097.

Horace Moyal Taylor

Horace Moyal Taylor, 73, of Paragould died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.

He was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Jonesboro. He was retired from Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, Calif., and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Albert and Lillian Bernice Yopp Taylor.

Burial was in New Friendship Cemetery in Paragould.

Heath Funeral Home in Paragould was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Patricia Yarnell

Patricia Yarnell died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003.

She was born May 13, 1937. In 1963, Patricia began her career at Radiological Associates of Sacramento with Dr. Ripple and Dr. Scotty Doggett. For nearly twenty years she touched the lives of cancer patients and colleagues alike.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Engle; a daughter, Baby Yarnell; a brother, CJ Engle; and her father, Ray Engle.

Survivors include her daughter, Ty "Tammy" Lynn Yarnell; Ty's partner, Chris Williams; her granddaughters, Chelsea, Madisun, Annsley, Makanna and Aurrora; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Pete Zielenga; two brothers and sister-in-law, Bill and Jan Engle and Larry and Janie Engle; lifelong friends, Joan and Robert Beltz and Frank and Irene Goodreau; and several aunts uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Congregational Church of Auburn, 710 Auburn Ravine Road, Auburn, Calif.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Chapel of the Valley in California was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Terry Eugene Cole

Terry Eugene Cole, 70, of Paragould died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Heath Funeral Home in Paragould.

Violet (Gillman) Hosier

Violet (Gillman) Hosier, 85, of Paragould, formerly of Harrisburg died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was born March 18, 1918, at Murray, Ky. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wesley Hosier; her parents, James Andrew and Ola (Boney) Gillman; several brothers and sisters, and one infant son.

Survivors include six sons, Reuben Andrew Hosier Sr. of Blooming Grove, Joe W. Hosier of Lafe, George H. Hosier of Cottage Hills, Ill., John R. Hosier of Worden, Ill., Mickey Hosier and David H. Hosier, both of Paragould; six daughters, Ola Mae Morris of McClainesboro, Ill., Betty Hackworth and Mary Davis, both of Paragould, Bertha Lopez of Saginaw, Mich., Carolyn Bridges of Martin, Tenn., and Ann Cupp of West Monroe, La.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Ira Davis and Melvin Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
