Mildred Margarett Johnson

Mildred Margarett Johnson, 92, of Shreveport, La., formerly of Marmaduke, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Christus Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport.

She was born April 16, 1911, in Marmaduke.

She was a homemaker and a member at First Baptist Church of Marmaduke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvie E. "Joe" Johnson; her parents, Tom and Sylvia Vestal; one brother, Tommy Lee Vestal; and seven sisters, Imogene Vestal, Emmajean Vestal, Mary Sheridan, Ethel Saylor, Eunice Reynolds, Esther Campbell, and Neola Hatcher.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Lou and Earl McHugh of Metairie, La., Deloris and Morris Smith of Shreveport; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie and Wayne Brightwell of Paragould, Verna and Otis Williams of Marmaduke; one granddaughter, Deaunna Fleming of Shreveport; three great-granddaughters, Rachel, Michelle and Alicia Fleming of Shreveport; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Marmaduke with Kim Bridges and Wayne Brightwell officiating.

Burial will be at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Marmduke.

Tracey Lynn Yarbrough

Tracey Lynn Yarbrough, 33, of Heflin, Ala., died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

She was born Nov. 8, 1969, in Jonesboro. She was an Arkansas native and a 1988 graduate of Ridgecrest High School in Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Dusty and Mary Yarbrough.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Dorothy Lee and Ricky Kilgore of Fruithurst; her father and stepmother, Harold Wayne and Jeanetta Yarbrough of Paragould; five sisters, Lisa Anne Yarbrough of Heflin, Jeannie Straub and Lynette Cooper, both of Paragould, Shannon Pope of Jonesboro, and Stephanie Githens of Carrollton, Ga.; and two brothers, Hal Wayne Yarbrough of Jonesboro and Ricky Dearman of Birmingham. The funeral was held Wednesday at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel in Heflin with the Revs. Pete Alewine and Bob McCloud officiating. Burial was at Fruithurst Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Cameron Cooper, Joseph Ferguson, Michael Spencer, Timothy Straub, Harold Sturkie and Mark Yarbrough.

Ted Spears

Ted Spears, 61, of Paragould, died Thursday, July 31, in Paragould.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Jack Barrow

Jack Barrow, 72, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Stanford. He was the retired owner/operator of North Side Auto Sales, a U.S. Army veteran and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mollie Barrow; one son, Rodger Barrow; three sisters, Billie Sue Howdeshell, Omia Drewselia Barrow and Agnes Stroud; and one brother, Oliver Barrow.

Survivors include his wife, Anna M. Barrow of Paragould; one son, Ronnie Barrow of Paragould; four daughters, Pam Palmison of Colleyville, Texas, Karen Moore of Branson, Mo., Ruth Wheelan of Catawissa, Mo., and Rhonda King of Paragould; one brother, Roy Barrow of Paragould; two sisters, Sally Holifield of Rector and Mary Lou Barrow of Bristol, Mo.; his mother-in-law, Grace Vivian Taylor of Paragould; nine grandchildren, Kristie Price, Kari McGhee, Dameon Rowe, Mollie Palmison, Mike Barrow, Mitch Barrow, Laura Sue Short, Chase Crews and Jordan Crews; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. J.B. Harris and the Rev. Eddie Harris officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Pallbearers are Michael Barrow, Dameon Rowe, Mike Taylor, Darrell W. Taylor, Mike Watson, Chase Crews and Jade Price.

Honorary pallbearers are Jim Bailey, Robert Bolin, Gaines Bolin, Tommy Watson, Elvis Street and Tom Dearin.

Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William Edward Wade

William Edward Wade, 76, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at his home. He was born April 21, 1927, in Clay County. He lived in Jonesboro for 48 years. He was a shipping clerk and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Lyles Wade; his parents, Walter E. and Ola Mae Berry Wade; and one brother, Donald Wade.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Rebecca Wade of Jonesboro; one stepson and step daughter-in-law, Larry and Beverly Lyles of Thayer, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Tanner and Holly Wade.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Bro. Ronnie Winne officiating.

Burial will be at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector under the direction of Irby Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernards Hospice.

Billy Joe Cook

Billy Joe Cook, 70, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at the Regional Medical Center of Northeast Arkansas in Jonesboro.

He was born in Bono, and lived most of his life in the Jonesboro-Bono area. He was a retired glass glazier and owned and operated the City Glass Co. in Jonesboro for several years. He was a member of the Alsup Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Joe Del and Terry Lew Cook.

Survivors include, his wife, Lou Sandefur Cook of the home; two daughters, Theresa Kirksey and Tara Harrelson, both of Jonesboro; one son, Larry Cook of Paragould; three sisters, Ophelia Johnson, Vick Griffin, and Artie Mitchell, all of Jonesboro; one brother, George Cook of Pocahontas; eight grandchildren, Hope Cook, Terry Cook, Jr., Jerry Cook, Terry Cook, Zachary Kirksey, Billy Kirksey, Brian Kirksey and Grayson Harrelson; and four great-grandchildren, Cody Cook, Tristan Cook, Lasha Johnson and Madison Kirksey.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Emerson Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Leon Minick officiating.

Burial will follow in Herndon Cemetery north of Jonesboro.

Pallbearers are Jerry Cook, Billy Kirksey, Terry Cook, Zachary Kirksey, Brian Kirksey and Mike Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers are the Crowley's Ridge Band and the Old Country Band.

Visitation was from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

James Polk Parker, Jr.

James Polk Parker, Jr., 60, of Paragould, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at his home.

He was born June 9, 1943, in Lepanto and was a self-employed wood worker.

Survivors include his wife, Bert Parker of the home; one son, Sonny Parker of Paragould; one daughter, Shannon Kartvelishvili of Clarksville, Tenn.; one brother, Roger Parker of Bentonville; two sisters, Bernice Burgess of Ukiah, Calif., and Elsie Drope of Paragould; and several grandchildren.

The funeral will be private and under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

James "Olen" Gladish

James "Olen" Gladish, 69, of Paragould died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Regional Medical Center of Northeast Arkansas in Jonesboro.

He was born Jan. 21, 1934, in Paragould. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was retired from Monroe Auto Equipment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Audrey P. Beaver Gladish; and one brother, Frankie W. Gladish.

Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Gladish of Paragould; two sons, Randy A. Gladish and Shawn O. Gladish, both of Paragould; one stepson, Michael Smith of Paragould; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Marcella and Roger Archibald of Paragould; and three grandchildren, Tyler Smith of Paragould, and Tiffany Bridges and Stephan Bridges, both of Lonoke.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould with David White officiating.

Pallbearers will be Kermmit Burns, Paul Smith, Johnathan Mullins, Gary Smith, Brian Smith and Bryan Drennen.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

Lali Marion Boggs

Lali Marion Boggs, 83, of Paragould died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

William Albert McMinn

William Albert McMinn, 58, of Paragould died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Howard Funeral Service of Manila.

Zelma Verlene Beasley

Zelma Verlene Beasley, 91, of Paragould died Saturday, April 12, 2003, in Little Rock.

She was born Jan. 25, 1912, in Beech Grove. She was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Minnie Rowland; a son, Leland Beasley; two daughters, Genievie Fivecoat and Glenavie Crockett; six brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include four sons, Harvey Norman Beasley, Cletis Weldon Beasley (Dutch), Gary Don Beasley, and Jerry Wayne Beasley, all of Paragould; a daughter, Glenda Sue Stone of Paragould; a brother, Ones Rowland of Paragould; and two sisters, Fondrell Thurman and Wasie Beasley, both of Paragould; and several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with the Rev. Kenny Crafton officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Paragould

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

Martha Anna Gore

Martha Anna Gore, 96, of Paragould died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.

She was born Sept. 29, 1906, in Marmaduke. She was a homemaker and a member of Lake Street Baptist Church. She was also very active at the Greene County Community Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude J. Gore; her parents, Tom and Dora Belle Puckett; two sons, Verlyn G. Gore and Leroy Gore; nine brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include three sons, Leon M. Gore of Paragould, Larry D. Gore of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Ronnie G. Gore of Bloomington, Ill.; six daughters, Evelyn Bunting of Bloomington, Emma J. Hunt of Lafe, Claudette Gore and LaRue Mitchell, both of Paragould, and Patricia A. Valentine and Jeanine Baxter, both of Hendersonville; 28 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Wayne Faulkner officiating. Burial was at Harvey's Chapel.

Active pallbearers were Tim Gore, Rondal Mitchell, Larry Gore Jr., Toby Valentine, Troy Valentine, Curtis Gore, Dean Hunt and Benny Pruitt.

Honorary pallbearers were David Bunting, Mike Hunt, Tewayne Pruitt, Danny Gore, Marshal Gore, David Hunt and Randy Bunting.

Bernice Martin

Bernice Martin, 65, of Paragould, formerly of Lake City died Friday, April 11, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was a homemaker and member of Eastside Baptist Church in Trumann.

She was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Eva Clark; a brother, J.T. Clark; and two sons, James and Larry Martin.

Survivors include her husband, Quinton Martin of the home; a son, Ray Martin of Paragould; a brother, Raymond Clark of Highland; a daughter, Reba Shirley of Paragould; eight grandchildren, Tommy Shirley, Dwayne Shirley, Jeff Shirley, Melanie Walker, Shannon Martin, Brandi Martin, Adam Rondell and Robin Liddell; and five great-grandchildren, Zach Shirley, Natalie Shirley, Jazmyn Walker, Tymra Walker and Weston Shirley.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Thom Cody officiating. Burial will be at Senath Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Tommy Shirley, Dwayne Shirley, Jeff Shirley, Tim Walker, Michael Potter and Wes Fowler.

Honorary pallbearer will be Danny Roberson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Junior Doyle Nicholas

Junior Doyle Nicholas, 74, of Marmaduke died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was born May 11, 1928, in Marmaduke. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include two half-brothers, Bob Nicholas of Paragould and Denver Nicholas of West Virginia; a sister, Minerva Brightwell of Marmaduke; and two half-sisters, Freda Locrastro of Paragould and Willodean Brewer.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at New Friendship Cemetery in Paragould with the Rev. Kim Bridges officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould.

Mildred Harriett "Sis" Tinsley

Mildred Harriett "Sis" Tinsley, 90, of Paragould died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was born March 1, 1913, in Marmaduke. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.H. "Spud" Tinsley; her parents, Wilder and Lucie Carpenter; and her brothers and sisters.

Survivors include four sons, Jack Tinsley of Naperville, Ill., Marion Tinsley of Witter, Muriel Tinsley of Murray, Ky., and Mike Tinsley of DeSoto, Texas; a sister, Eve Moseley of Jonesboro; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with the Rev. David Moseley officiating. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.

The family requests memorials be made to the Children's Homes of Paragould or American Cancer Society.
